Program to replace iWeb

Since we have to go to somewhere else to publish our web pages, besides a new site, what about using some other software for site creations besides iWeb?

If you want to stay within the realm of WYSIWYG, then Sandvox and RapidWeaver are probably your best bets.

If you want to be a bit more adventerous, I would recommend using WordPress, or WebDesign (for those who know HTML or want to learn HTML).

  • Is there an alternate Web program to replace iWeb?

Is there an alternate Web program to replace iWeb since it is no longer being supported by Apple?. I have a very large program that took over 5 months to design and publish. If I have to give up iWeb, I need to import all the info into a new web program, without losing the theme, photos, imovies, etc.  Will we eventually lose the iWeb program when upgrading from 10.6.8 to newer up to date OS systems?

. I'll have to totally rebuild my website in another program in order to upgrade my OS above 10.7
Didn't you read Wyodor's response to your first post?
If you browse this forum you'll find that iWeb 08 probably will not work with Mountain Lion, but iWeb 09 will.
iWeb 09 is also iWeb 3.04. which is also included in iLife 09.

I would contact Apple directly and have them work with to get the iPod shipped to a new/different address.

  • What happens to my websites created in iWeb when iCloud replaces IWeb (Rumoured)?...

What happens to my websites created in iWeb when iCloud replaces IWeb as is rumoured... they will be lost?

To tell you te truth We should should've all expected this...
With no new updates to iWeb in a good couple of years, even though it's an amazing piece of software enjoyed by million. It upsets me no end to see apple continually doing this and what have they done exactly? Left goodness knows how many customers worried and uncertain about a product they love and rely on, I do anyway.
One of the main reasons I have a Mac isn't only the build quality and the OS, although that does have a fair amount to do with it. The main reason for me moving to Apple and investing in a machine all those years ago was iWeb, being a creative control freak, I love to be able to get out my Mac, open iWeb and in minutes create a new launch page for a new mix, upgrade some of my services a customers asked for, recreate any aspect of how I present myself to people at a click of a button... I know you can upload to FTP server but phooey, why damage a good thing.
This as annoyed me no end... so I'll not doubt I'll be taking it out on an Apple employee tomorrow when I take back my blown power pack for my MacBook pro, my third one in 8 months... I sign of the way apple is going?
PS as for iOS 5 ... Seriously underwhelmed, we've been given features 90% of which should have been launched in iOS3!.. Oh, although I can't handle windows anymore, have you see. The new Windows 8 layer? Watch out Apple, he's behind you

  • I am a YouTuber seeking a video editing program to replace Pinnacle Studio 14.

    Hi there,
I am a YouTuber seeking a video editing program to replace Pinnacle Studio 14. Pinnacle does not accept MOV files apparently requiring me to reduce the vid quality in order to create a new file type to edit. Also, edit video preview rendering takes forever.
I have a Sony Vaio 32 bit with Intel i5 Core, 4gb RAM.  I might get a new laptop soon.
    My editing needs are:
-I want to be able to edit the original file without having to make a reduced quality or wait forever for preview rendering to work
-Ability to edit MOV files and also common MP4 files
    -I want to be easy-to-use
-I want to be able to add up to 2 audio tracks
-I need to be able to add video overlay
-I need to be able to add JPG and PNG files
-I need to be able to preview 2-3 videos in a small preview (as many YouTubers do at the end of their videos)
    Please let me know
which of your programs you recommend,
    the price,
    if I can download it,
can I transfer the program download to other another laptop if I get a new one or reinstall if here if my computer ever crashes,
Is there a money-back return guarantee and if so what’s the time period for that?
    Thanks.

I came from the studio environment years ago.  Adobe Premiere is a very powerful editing suite.  But with power comes complexity.  You will experience a steep learning curve, but one that ultimately pays in benefits.  Each time you start the program it will use the internet to confirm you are an authorized user.
In Premiere Pro, your editing is done on the native files in a non-destructive manner.  there is no low-resolution version.  That said, you can change the resolution of your preview screens if your PC is under powered.  Rendering of previews happen in the background, aided by the Mecury GPU capability.  Once your editing is done, you export the project to a new file of the format you seek as output.  Edit once, output many.
Video and audio tracks are relatively unlimited in number.
JPG and PNG are native still files.
There is guidance elsewhere on this web site as to the hardware you need to run the software--consider these to be minimums, not optimum.
Adobe is marketing its Creative Cloud suite of applications as a subscription basis. You will download the programs you want to use onto your hardware.  Since you have a subscription, moving the subscription to another machine is something you can do yourself.  Adobe gets involved only if you activate it on more computers than your license allows.  The program does give you option to deactivate the installation so as to enable it being relocated.

  • Good web design software to replace iWeb

    Hello There,
I have been using iWeb for a while now, and despite its limitations, I like it.  Now that Apple has discontinued (or will discontinue) MobileMe and some of the features wont be available any more, I decided to move to another web-design program.
I have downloaded the trial of rapidweaver (the one with the 3 page limit) so I could play with it and see what it was like.  It is HORRIBLE, it is not easy to use, importing pictures seems pretty impossible.  I cant insert pictures like I can in iWeb, I cant drag things around like I can in iWeb - the whole program seems to be template and text based.
    I don't really know how to do coding or anything, so I am not looking for a fancy web-design tool that costs a fortune.  But I want something that I can actually use.  I want to do the following;
Create pages from scratch if I want to
    Insert images and reposition them
Insert images into my text and aline them
    Have a blog
    Have a photo gallery
insert movies (when I want to share them)
    have a chat room
Have a nice looking site without having to do any serious heavy coding (because I don't really know how to)
Can someone please suggest to me a good website design program that is comparable to iWeb and with which I can replace the afore mentioned iWeb.  Eervyone says RapidWeaver, but I really didnt like it.

Just to promote iWeb for a bit more read the following in case you hadn't considered it:
As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.
Now that being said there's been a lot of discussion on replacements to iWeb.  Most of the applications are template driven and make it difficult to start with a clean page.  Roddy has more experience in evalutating those apps.  I decided on Flux.  It's a drag and drop, WYSIWYG application with easy code insertion.  If you've ever added a  3rd party slideshow to an iWeb page with an HTML snippet you can view this Flux tutorial page on how I did it with Flux: F03 - Adding a SimpleViewer Slideshow to a Web Page or this tutorial on adding a multi page PDF document to a web page: F02 - Adding a PDF Document to a Web Page.
I have to admit it takes a little study but the video tutorials at the Flux site and those 3rd party videos on YouTube help quite a bit.
If you search this community for "iWeb alternatives" you should get a list of topics discussing the other alternatives.

  • Possible to extend java Concurrent Program and replace standard??

    Hi All!
i have following developing need. There is a java concurrent program POXPOPDF (PO Output for Communication). The customer needs this program to do actually something complete different than printing the PO in PDF. The executable for this CP is java class PoGenerateDocumentCP in oracle.apps.po.communicate package.
We thought that we may be able to extend that class and then in some way made OA to use the extended java class instead of the standard. This is possbile and simple for OA Framework pages unsing classes as controllers, but I don't know how it could be done for CP (if there's a way to do it without violent intervention in standard system).. Is it possbile, can anyone help me with this.
The thing is that instead of reformatting the XML returned from PO_COMMUNICATION_PVT.POXMLGEN (function POXMLGEN in database package PO_COMMUNICATION_PVT) into PDF we want to reformat into another XML and then send it in other way to a webservice. Once I have the XML from POXMLGEN I have no problem to reformat it into another XML (I think, I have done it iwith other issues/processes). The webservice and the call to it is no problem and is already use with other purposes in other processes, but here (replaceing this stadard java class for an extension/new one) I am a little lost.
    Appreciate very much your help.
    Regards,
    Patricia

Never mind, I see now that FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST() really does work, I tried with a different standard java concurrent program and it worked fine, and then I figured out that my parameters into fnd_request.submit_request for concurrent program APXVVCF4 were not correct (application short name was invalid for concurrent program).
    Thanks for the Info!

  • What program to replace a Data Base program like old AppleWorks?

Not sure if this is the correct discussion board, but I would like to find out what applications people are using to replace the AppleWorks Data Base program. In the past I have worked with File Maker Pro and the AppleWorks program. I see nothing like that in either iBook or Numbers.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Like Dennis, I continue to use AppleWorks for what iWork doesn't do. I think that sooner or later a system upgrade may render AppleWorks useless or, at least, too unstable. I plan on keeping at least one Mac in the house running an OS AppleWorks works in.
In the meantime, I have left a few feedback posts to both the Numbers team or the Pages team.

  • What software can replace iWeb since it is not supported on Lion?

I had to buy a new MacBook Pro.  Mine was stolen.  I had used iWeb on my last MacBook Pro to set up a website for my business.  I therefore do not
have access to iWeb and Lion doesn't support it.
What app or software will let me work with my existing website?

As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Is there a program to replace the Windows installer cleanup utility?

Trying to update itunes but can't remove the old program, get message C:\Documents and Settings\mark\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple\Apple Software Update\.  Anyone know if there is a replacement for Windows Installer Cleanup Utility ? Or some other way to get rid of the old program?
    Thanks.

Microsoft retired the CleanUp utility because it can cause problems with other programs installed by the Microsoft Windows Installer. The replacement is a Microsoft "Fix It" solution; it is not a Java app but a downloadable executable and is run locally.
Due to potential problems with the outdated Microsoft Installer CleanUp Utility, use the Fix it solution before attempting to find and run msicuu2.exe. It is well written and does not harm other programs installed by the Windows Installer (1 potential problem with the old utility). It may take several minutes (I have seen 20-30) to uninstall the app but when the Fix it solution finishes successfully the app is uninstalled.
The replacement is found at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall.

  • Finally Everweb replaces iWeb - Rage software

    hello,
just to mention that there is a software-program called 'EVERWEB' that works exactly like iWEB.
    Check it out!
    Radidjan

No, it doesn't work exactly like iWeb. It is more advanced and has more features that iWeb has.   EverWeb has been discussed here for some time now.

  • The so-called "worldwide apple program" to replace iPhone5 battery isn't really "worldwide"

I'm really disappointed of Apple's support and the so-called "worldwide" iPhone5 Battery replacement program.
On November 2012 I was transferred from Mexico to Switzerland to work as a Diplomatic officer. Me and my wife needed a cellphone, so we bought 2 iPhone5.
On March 2014 I was transferred back to Mexico and, nevertheless our 2 iPhone5s are eligible for this program, we received a message from the Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) stating that we cannot benefit from this program because our iPhone5s were bought in Switzerland and not in Mexico.
A few minutes ago I phoned Mexico's Apple Support and Service line, and I got the exact same answer than that from the AASP. Additionally, I was told that the only iPhone5s that could benefit from this program in Mexico were those bought in Mexico, the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Afterwards they gave me the best possible solution they could think of:
"For you to benefit from this program:
    a)Why don't you send your iPhone5s back to Switzerland;
    b)Have someone take them to a Swiss AASP to replace the batteries;
    c)Have someone fetch the iPhones from the AASP (with the batteries replaced);
d)Have someone send them back to you, to Mexico"
I was absolutely astounded by the solution provided, because of the cost and time that would have to be invested in order to replace a set of affected iPhone5 batteries.
Prior to this incident, I assumed that Apple was a little bit conscious about the global mobility of its users, hence the need for a real global support service; but now I'm sure that they're not.
I am aware that the iPhone5 Battery Replacement Program includes a line that gives Apple a way-out to avoid replacing affected batteries, even for eligible iPhone5s, which reads: "Apple MAY restrict or limit repair to the original country of purchase". The problem here is that there's no MAY and, in our case and I'm sure that we're not the only ones, Apple is simply denying the replacement of affected batteries.
For future so-called "worldwide apple programs", Apple should consider stating that "Apple restricts or limits repair to the original country of purchase". By doing so, the customers will be really informed on how "worldwide" are their programs and we will be in a better position to decide if we really want to buy their products (with that kind of "worldwide" support) or we should decide upon other cellphone brands.
I would really appreciate if someone could share Apple's criteria for the MAYs and the contact info or a way to benefit from this program in Mexico with a Swiss iPhone5.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Thanks Pogster,
Those limitations are exactly what I'm asking the community for their help. That's what I called "the MAYs".
Let me show you how "worldwide" this program really is. I'll post in spanish the answer I got from the AASP, and then I'll translate it for you:
    Estimado(a) Sr.(ta) LUIS MARIANO VELAZQUEZ
Falla: EQUIPO ENTRA PARA PROGRAMA DE CALIDAD DE BATERIA
    Dear Mr. LUIS MARIANO VELAZQUEZ
We take this opportunity to send our warmest regards and thank your trust on us. At the same time, we would like to inform you on the status of the Revision performed to your device
    Device status: Diagnosed
Failure: DEVICE ELIGIBLE POR BATTERY QUALITY PROGRAM
Failure solution: Good evening, regarding your device, we checked the case with Apple, but we cannot replace the battery, because the devices were bought in Switzerland and the program is not an international one, it is only applicable to devices bought in Mexico
    Reception date: 29/08/2014
As you can see, the scope of the word "worldwide" has been degrading from Worldwide to "not an international program" to only devices bought in Mexico, so in a nutshell it's worldwide but (really really really) local.
So Apple is the best example of what's known as "Think Global, Act Local"

  • Do other software programs work w/iweb?

i have a blogspot blog already going and i would like to imbed sampleview galleries into my site built with iweb. does anybody know if this can be done? and if so can you give me any pointers?
    TIA
    ~amber

now i just need to determine weather or not i can imbed sampleviewer so that the page is not accessible by the tab bar, but i can provide a URL to the page, this way it's some what private.
The search engines only find pages that have links on other pages. I'm sure they get regular updates for new domain names from the registrars, and that starts the process of following or 'crawling' all the links of a site for indexing.
Go the the Page you want to be private, open the "Inspector", far left button is named "Page Inspector", unclick both of the boxes about navigation menu. The page wont show up on any other page's navigation bar, and won't have a navigation bar on the page.
Make sure no other page has a link to the page you want to hide so that Google will not crawl any links to the hidden page and index it for their search engine.
Provide the actual link to the page to your friends in an email. They will be the only ones who have the link.

  • I just upgraded to Lion and now my microsoft doesn't work. What program is replacing entourage?

What is apples version of microsoft office?

You most likely are using Office 2004 which requires Rosetta. Lion now longer supports Rosetta so all PPC-only programs fail to work. The solution is simple: upgrade to Office 2011.
