Program Type Progression v/s Program Progression

Hi All,
I found in SAP Help that there is a provision of Program Progression also, and they have mentioned the path <b>SAP menu, choose Campus Management ->Teaching and Examination -> Program Progression</b>, But in my system I am unable to locate this path. Is program progression is not there in ECC 6.0

Program Progression is an obsolete function that should not be used. Program Type Progression is the only supported method.

I want to progress students but i think there is a complexity on the SLCM.
There are two option (help.sap.com says); "Program Type Progression" and "Program Progression"..
There are IMG activities and Easy Access steps on the SLCM for "Program Type Progression", but there isn't IMG activities and Easy Access steps for "Program Progression".
But help.sap.com describes "Program Progression".

Can i use common program type for progression

i have many program type for undergraduate and graduate.
sometimes student can change from program type UG to GR and in this case progression can cause problem in our case.
we have many program type for graduate such as B0, B1 and B2 and for progression i want to have E0 for graduation but progression can not read this data which was saved as E0.
will it be possible that i have E0 for progression while program type have different one.

The Program Type progression will always give you the choices for program types where the student is registered. So, it is not possible to run Progression for Program Type 'X', unless the student is actually registered in a program of that program type.
I would normally use this opportunity to ask, "Why would you have set up so many program types when you have a common progression model?"
I would also ask, "How can a student change Program Types?" Normally I would expect that a student completes their Undergraduate program, and then begins a new Graduate level program. How can an undergraduate registration turn into a graduate registration?
Are you blueprinting something new here, or are you talking about a system already in production?

Error in VSR result for program type

Hi Experts,
We are facing the error while running the Prog. Type Progression in student file. In student file we select tab program type progression --> in program type select gradute --> click on change progression result.
When we click on that we are getting this error:
1.Error@ 01ST0000 GR-4 Error in VSR result for program type GR and progression category 4@35\QLong text exists@
2.Error@ 01ST0000 GR-4 GR-<> is not available; choose a progress classification @5F\QNo long text exists@
wat can we do to resolve it.

Check you config. It is customizing error. This Progress classification category is not valid for program type. Or this progress classification category does not exits.

Progressive works for PAL & NTSC?

I know the difference between PAL and NTSC, however, will a progressive file play on either?
I'm making a video for someone from NY going to show as part of their Powerpoint presentation in Australia and I understand that Australia is PAL.
I really don't know what kind of equipment they will be using. I can only assume it's a laptop into a projector.
My thoughts have always been that digital/progressive would play in both.   I'm thinking of started my project with the HDV 720P setting.
Why, because it's HD and that's the settings I use for Youtube which is where this video will also go besides the live presentation.

There is my confusion.   I choose Export/Media, Format: H.264, the Basic Video Settings box only give you the two bullet point optons for TV Standard: NTSC or PAL. My sequence is Progressive. All the Preset choices seem to be either one of them too.
I think I have to approach it differently like I am writing in the following paragraph.....
That is another question I have between choosing Format: H.264 or Quicktime (which is what I really want).
I can choose Format: Quicktime, but all the Presets: are NTSC 720x480. But, I can choose a different Video Codec: Whatever I choose, the width/height stays at 720x480. So, then I change it to my Source setting which is 1280x720. When I select Field Type: Progressive, the Summary output: , the NTSC goes away.   I guess that is what I want.

Why does CS5.5 select my sequence as interlaced when I shoot progressive?

I record with a Sony HXR-NX5u and my camera is set to 1080 30p fx. I have always selected the AVCHD1080 30p Sequence when premiere launches and get a red bar in the sequence. When I cancel the sequence selection at startup and drag the clip to the new item icon, Premiere sets my sequence to AVCHD 1080i square pixels and I get a yellow bar. What would be the proper sequence setting?

MediInfo reports - Scan type: Progressive
Does this mean the footage is progressive or could it still be Jim Simons possibility that it is actually an interlaced signal, but both fields are captured from the same moment in time?
At this point should I:
select AVCHD 1080 30p which gives me red timeline
drag my footage to new icon which gives me yellow icon but reads as interlaced
Interpret my footage and force Pr to treat as progressive
Does the wrong choice degrade the final output?

Recording format 1080i,interlace 50/25 or progressive 25 to import into FCE

I did search the forum before posting and i couldn't find a definite answer. i will be recording with a sony HVR-Z5E and after recoding will import in FCE with easy setup as follows format HD and rate 25.fps and using AIC 1080i50 which after editing will be exported to DVD single layer. What setting should i set on the Sony camera, i have the option of
Rec format 1080i
HDV Progressive - Rec type is either _interlace with scan type 50 or 25. or
HDV Progressive - Rec type progressive with scan type 25.
Please can you advice which setting should i configure on the Sony camera to make sure it works well in FCE. what are the main difference with recording in both formats.

Progressive/Interlace Issues

Hello-
I have a clip that looks interlaced but file info says it's progressive. I'm pasting a report below that has the clip details as well as a screen shot. I have tried to deinterlace in FCPX, Compressor 4.1, Episode Pro, and a bunch of other apps. Nothing works. I'm just about to give up but maybe someone understands why this interlacing seems to be "baked in". Any help is appreciated.

Ok, I can't explain that, but, other items in the Setup are available only to certain types of footage (e.g. the Anamorphic flag can only be applied to SD footage.) I did say, however, that Deinterlace is not necessary if the appropriate Field Dominance was set.
In this case, I believe you're right and the interlacing is "baked" into the progressive frames. FCPX wouldn't know to take any conforming actions to the footage.
Give this software a try: JES Deinterlacer . It comes with fairly comprehensive documentation with the download. I believe it will deinterlace pretty much anything, whether it's truly interlaced or baked. (I believe VLC will also, but vlc doesn't support enough bandwidth to make it worth using.) In Mavericks, your System Preferences Security is likely set to allow running software from Mac App Store and Identified Developers -- you will have to change that to "Anywhere" in order to run this software. (It's a little old and unsigned... I've tried it and it does *run* in Mavericks [whether or not it still works, I haven't tried, but it used to — very well.])
PS - if you get the interlacing problem straightened out - remember to reset the field dominance to progressive.

Firefox seems to hang when gmail is open. I must use task manager to exit. Frequency of hangs is increasing. Now typed characters don't always appear first time I type them. Other programs seem unaffected. Problem is getting progressively worse. Help?

I only noticed today that Firefox works fine until I open gmail, so I'm not 100% sure of that. I usually work with gmail open, so it's hard to separate the two. Problems started before Christmas. Firefox would hang occasionally (every few days). Keyboard worked fine. Then Firefox started to hang once a day or so. Now it hangs several times a day. Every now and then, it crashes (especially if left unattended, the brat), but apparently I never sent a crash report. ( I couldn't get it to crash today -- it would rather hang. Fatal either way.) A week ago, I completely removed Firefox to the best of my ability and reloaded, hoping that would fix any hidden out-of-date or cookie issues. No joy. Keyboard issue started yesterday, so now Firefox is useless. Please save me from having to use Explorer!
P.S. I have Vista.
P.S.S. Oh, google calendar wouldn't load in Firefox, just now - said it's "redirected", and then Firefox crashed. Crash id is below. I did the about:crashes thing and Firefox could not find the report! (Oh Noes!)
This sounds like malware to me, not that I know anything at all. I have current McAffee and it did not detect anything.
Problems started around the same time that I got a new canon pixma MG8120 printer, which loaded a plugin apparently. Might be a coincidence.
If you tell me to remove any plugins, tell me how. I think I tried that and couldn't find a way. Or maybe that was something else...

New information and answers to the questions:
1) I've never used dropbox on this machine, so that isn't the case
2) I use Firefox as my browser and don't touch Safari unless it is a site that Firefox balks at. I did all the hardware scans, software scans, resetting prefs, and PRAM as well, almost every day.
New info: I had to do a complete system format and reinstall. It actually seems to have solved the problem and corrected a few things that the recent updates hadn't resolved (the disk sound on sleep-wake didn't work until I installed the update on a new system install). I think the issue had to do with either the recent Java or Airport updates and I haven't installed them this time due to that fear. What forced me to do a complete install was the computer wouldn't hold an internet connection *at all*, even when directly plugged into the router via ethernet. System time got messed up and keychain passwords got hosed too if they related to recent internet/network connections. I wish I had more info to share but that's it. Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to keep this open for now as I am interested in seeing if anything else could explain this issue.

Itunes 11.1.3.8 shows a speaker icon in front of the seclection but it is not playing. the progress bar does not move. there are speakers attached to the system and all other programs do profuce an audio output.

Go to the Edit -> Preferences-> Playback
In The bottom section of the page click the drop down menu by Play Audio Using and select Windows Audio Session or something other than "Direct sound" or whatever it displays. Click Okay. This worked for me! I hope it works for you too!

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Just imported clips and edited as new project. closed imovie. came back later and the entire project was gone. i was not done so i did not finalize it. how do i get the program to keep my project in progress

running imovie on a powermac w 10.6.8. went through the tutorials. imported my clips, got the hang of basic editing, and created a project.
was pretty happy with it, but needed to shut down and come back to work on it later. when i did come back, the entire project was gone.
how do i get the program to save my work in progress, without finalizing it?

So, everything worked out just fine!
I have all my material in the ProRes Codec on a seperate drive now. The project itself was kept or rather duplicated, the bin structure etc stayed the same but is linking to the newly created files. The playback and workflow is fluent. I am happy!
Time info: For about 120 GB of material the codec change process took 25 hours.

Programming multiple smart cards with multiple smart card readers in a PC causes a PCSCException in a smart card that is in progress

I develop a Java code using smartcardio API to program a smart card. My GUI allows to add at most 5 smart card readers that will wait for card present, then do authentication and program the smart card with an application, then wait for card removal. This is a separate thread running in a loop for each smart card reader added as programmer.
The problem occurs when a certain smart card is in progress and I inserted another smart card to another smart card reader. Both smart card reader halts and throw sun.security.smartcardio.PCSCException: Unknown error 0x8010002f.
I also observed that every time there is an attempt to insert/remove a smart card in the smart card reader that is connected to the USB port would cause the programming in progress to be interrupted and throw the PCSCException.
These are some exceptions I got during my testing:

at sun.security.smartcardio.PCSC.SCardTransmit(Native Method)
at sun.security.smartcardio.ChannelImpl.doTransmit(ChannelImpl.java:171)
java.lang.Exception: Loader Record Failed: 6E | 0 //Sometimes I got this return code SW1 0x6E SW2 0x00 which means an APDU with an invalid 'CLA' bytes was received. I had check the command before it was sent and it was correct.
Help me understand this issue. I think the CardTerminal.isCardPresent(), CardTerminal.waitForCardPresent(0), and CardTerminal.waitForCardAbsent(0) cause this issue that CardChannel.transmit(apduCommand) is interrupted or the smart card insertion/removal causes the CardChannel.transmit(apduCommand) is interrupted.

Hi,
when you work with one smartcard reader only usually you address the slot -1 that means "the first found".
But to deal with multiple readers you have to use slots of course since one reader will be slot 0, next reader will be slot 1 and so on...
So a credential object will be identified on a system by a couple
<slot,alias>
After that, the way to address slots (I mean the syntax) depends on the classes you are using...
