Program upgrade choice

Advanced amateur, Canon 40D, have photoshop elements 2.0, photoshop album 2.0 and premiere elements 3.0, I have been using my canon software mostly ver 6 stuff for my editing and converting, i shoot raw format in 16 bit color depth converting to tiff files, any suggestions on which adobe products would give me the most bang for my dollar?

Well, since you're posting in the Photoshop Forum, it's likely that most of us here like Photoshop. However, your versions of Elements are several years old, and it might be worthwhile for you to just upgrade to the latest version (Elements 7 was recently announced) before spending hundreds of dollars on Photoshop CS3/4.
Keep in mind that you only told us what software you are using -- not anything about what you are trying to do with it, or if you feel it limits you in any way. Bang for the buck though? Elements.

  • How do I upgrade an OSX leopard macmini to snow leopard - I have cd and CPU ready to go, but don't see an upgrade choice.

I have a macmini running Leopard. I need to upgrade it to Snow Leopard. I have my Snow Leopard in hand, but can't an upgrade choice anywhere. I rebooted holding down the c key - I thought this was the magic key for rebooting to bring up other options but no luck.
Once on Snow Leopard, I have the App Store purchased Lion to upgrade to, which is where I want to get this machine.
Can someone show me the error of my ways, please?

Wow that was a fast reply with a great answer!
So I just follow the bouncing ball as if it were a clean install and it knows to do only an upgrade? I'm only double checking because even though I actually made a new fresh backup.
Thanks very much for the help!

  • I upgraded my iPhone 4 from iTunes to 5.0.1. Now everything is gone; photos, contacts, all gone.  It has been restored to factory defaults.  All I did was push the button to download and install.  How can a programmed upgrade to this?  Is there any way to

Is there anyway to restore back to where I started?  I just downloaded and upgraded, hands off.  But it looks like the phone has been set to factory defaluts.  I saw a message to that effect but then the process continued and I thought it was restoring my data.  Am I in the tank?

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

  • Individual program upgrades

I have CS5.0, can I upgrade ONLY InDesign to 5.5? Or do I have to buy the full CS5.5? I purchased the InDesign upgrade, but it doesn't want to recognize my CSuite serial number. Did I just waste $120?

    Did I just waste $120?
Yes, you did. Read the fineprint: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/buying-guide-upgrades.html

Francoisefoucher are you referring to Photoshop 7.0?  What version of Photoshop are you trying to upgrade too?

  • Creative Cloud - Photoshop Photography Program Upgrade from MC??

I have 4 Adobe collections registered under my account over the years, 2 Master Collections, a Design Studio collection and a Production Studio Collection.
I have been told that because I had purchased the MASTER collections and not a stand alone Photoshop, that I cannot get into the Photoshop Photography CC upgrade?
Is this correct? Having a hard time understanding why I would be punished for spending more money in the past.

    Hi All,
The reason I mentioned that phrase was that as I have experienced personally that some of our valuable customers have an ambiguous understanding of Retail & volume purchases, Full version & upgrade Purchases.
At times we have to explain them in detail about the type of license they hold.
It hepls them to choose & purchase the most suitable products for them.

  • Is InDesign the program of choice for this project?

hey, if i wanted to gather artists to create letterhead templates, which can then be easily modified due to client demand (text color and image changes) by someone else, is InDesign a good format to require? Meaning, does it make sense to only accept templates create in InDesign with styles saved as a package? All feedback is appreciated, thanks. junkahmail[@]gmail[.]com

It makes sense if the clients all have InDesign, and the same version or later than the version used to create the template, but otherwise the files would be completely useless. You're also limiting your potential market. Being able to offer templates in formats for Quark Xpress, Publisher, or Word might make sense, too.

  • Upgrade choice

Hello... I have bought the K200 series which comes with Dual CPU [email protected] which have 160GB harddisk and 1GB RAM.
When I installed Vista on it, it doesn't even need any additional motherboard drivers and I get the sound automatically, however when I tried windows xp, I need to download the XP drivers.
Now, I'm thinking of loading windows 7. Will I be able to .. can someone show me from where I can download the WINDOWS7 motherboard and sound drivers so that I can install windows 7.
    Thanks in advance

I assume you are aware of the Lenovo beta site for drivers
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html
With regard to Intel chipset drivers only the Graphics driver seems to be available for WIn 7 and you have to go to the Intel site for that. However the drivers coming with Win 7 work for the Intel chipset.
The same for audio. I get working audio on a T400s with plain Win 7 but I assume we will see proper drivers soon.
I suggest you install Win 7 then install the relevant drivers from the Lenovo site, primarily Hotkey support, network support and Power Manager. You can then check in Device Manager if you have hardware still missing drivers.

  • Upgrade from macbook to macbook Pro: How to move UNIX programs?

I am thinking of upgrading from my intel macbook to a C2D macbook Pro. I know that I can use the migration assistant to move all my User files and Applications over to the new machine. But, is there a way to move all my installed UNIX programs, such as TeX and other libraries/programs that I installed with Fink?
If I just mirror the old drive to the new one, will that work? I'd like to have exactly the same setup on the new machine as the old one.
    Thanks, Josh

Ok, so it is my understanding that the new C2D MBP's come with 10.4.8 build 8N1037. My 1st gen macbook has 10.4.8 build 8L2127. I read a blog by Jason D. O'Grady that describes moving from a 1st gen MBP to a C2D MBP with the same OS build discrepancy. He states that by using the install disks from the new MBP to update the OS on the old MBP he can just swap the harddrives:
"Although the new MeBook ships with Mac OS 10.4.8 installed it is a different build (8N1037) than the build that is installed on my previous MBP (8L2127). For this reason you need to use the install DVDs that come with the MeBook and upgrade the OS on the donor HDD (still in the original MBP) before the swap. Allow about 30 minutes for this process and use the time to take apart the receiving MBP."
    http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=325
So, following this logic, can I do the following ?!? :
    1. I buy a new MBP
    2. Put the new install DVD into my old macbook and update the OS to the new build
    3. Use SuperDuper (my backup program of choice) to mirror my old HD onto the new HD
    4. Seamlessly update from the macbook to the MBP and live happily ever after
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • HELP: NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO UPGRADE MBP!

Specs: 13" MBP (Early 2011) 2.3 GHz Core i5, 4GB of RAM, 320GB HDD -- upgrading to new computer is not an option since every component inside is now sautered into the motherboard.
I have a predicament that I REALLY need your advice on. BACK STORY: 1. Planning on upgrading MacBook Pro to SSD - reason: increase speed and performance (currently using traditional HDD) 2. Double RAM to 8GB. 3. For Computer Science courses in college, will possibly need to install Windows 7 OS for Programming.
Choice #1: Clone Mac OS and create a Partition to Install Windows OS on SSD. (basically run 2 OSs on 1 SSD.)
Drawback to choice #1: Not a good idea to write large files to SSD (2 OSs + programs + other docs.) Will potentially kill SSD.
Choice #2: Clone Mac OS to SSD, Wipe the current HDD and Install Windows OS on that. After installation, remove Optical Drive and install HDD (with a caddy) with Windows OS in its place. (basically take out Optical Drive and have 2 Hard Drives inside computer.)
Drawback to Choice #2: When powering on computer, will have 2 HDs running. A. 2 HDs running regardless if I need them or not. B. Will significantly drain more power from computer and potentially kill it.
Choice #3: Install Parallels and run Windows off of that.
Drawback to Choice #3: If Parallels crashes or freezes, Windows will need to start and that is bad for computer.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Apparently you are committed to certain hardware.  There is no question that the SSD should be installed in the current HDD bay.  Should you choose to have a second HDD, it should be installed in place of the DVD drive.  Note that some early 2011 MBPs had SATAII connections to the DVD drive and some had SATAIII connections (presumably later production models).
I do not run Windows on my MBPs but I do know that parallels is a resource hog.  On that basis, I suspect that it should be installed on the SSD where you can take advantage of the faster processing.  The SSD will be electrically more efficient than than a HDD.  If you have concerns about battery run time, then do not install the HDD in place of the DVD drive.  I do not know if there are third party applications that allow user intervention for controlling a HDD in the DVD bay.  You might search for same.  If there is, then the argument of installing it there becomes a stronger one.
You will have to assess your own work flows to determine what impact it has on the configuration options.  Since I do not know them, I cannot comment on that.
    Ciao.

  • How do I get conflict resolution from poping up?  It is saying I have conflicts between MS2008 Entourage and MS2011 Outlook.  This cannot be because I have removed both programs.

I have recently upgraded to MS Office 2011, Home & Student version from MS Office 2008, Home & Student version.  I tried the trial version of 2011 which had Outlook as it's mail/address/calendar program.  Using the 2008 version of MS Office, Entourage was the contact program of choice.  I have since decided not to use the Outlook program because of too many bugs and am now using Thunderbird for my email service and Apple Address Book for my contact information.  I therefore deleted the Outlook and Entourage address book.  Yet, "Conflict Resolver" keeps poping up and is saying I have 1015 conflicts!  Worse yet, I am unable to correct, even though I went through all 1015 conflicts, one by one.  HELP!  How do I get rid of this problem?

Hi Thomas, thanks for your reply.
Yes in standard start-up as it is and in recovery mode I still get the same message about Disk Utility being unable to repair the disk so I should back-up and restore.
Some posters have said that booting into safe mode should unmount the installer and allow rebooting back into Lion, that would allow me to back-up the files properly, as my last back up was (as is often the way) not too recent.
But I think your suggestion looks more likely to be he correct way to do it, and I'll take the hit on any data that I may lose.
    Thanks again.

  • RAM Upgrade for Mid-2010 MacBook Pro?

I have a mid-2010 15 inchMacBook Pro with 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB of RAM. I've put OSX Mavericks on it, and it's painfully slow. I reaize it was probably a mistake to upgrade to Mavericks on an older machine. I'm too lazy to roll back the operating system but was wondering if upgrading the RAM might help. Appreciate thoughts on this. Also, how much RAM can go into this machine?

melophage has a 2010.  so i would think that he's had some experience.
I have a 2011 MBP so my specs are probably different, however, mine was set max at 8g.  I did some researching and found that my particular model can accept 16g.  some could not, and there was a lot of anxiety that I had, in making that jump LOL.  But like whywutt, I went to crucial and got their confirmation on my model.  I got the type they indicated, which abrody is very adept, if you get it wrong, it can cause complications.
further some did and it didn't work.  and it may not work for your model.  but doing the research is what had me going, dipping into some forums, doing some reading.  not relying on just a post.  going to crucial, making the double checks, helped me correct a potential error I almost made during ordering.
i broke a sweat putting them in and powering up.  its worked.  and i had a few little glitchy things here and there.  but with some updates, some recognition of the memory heavies.  my basic issue is rising heat.  but for regular programs, i can use the machine with similar speed to my thought process, which is very scary.  lol
however, i rock with 16g.  LOL. I wouldn't want to gloat if you cannot upgrade to 16g  but if you couldn't, and you really want maverick, popping up to a late 2011 might be an upgrade choice, since there's hard cut offs by year on older models, which I absolutely despise that issue with manufacturers.  but the 2011 has graphics, like others above say.  so really part is the memory.  the other part is graphics.  duo to quad etc. etc.
but do more asking.  search on your unit.  see what your options are.  and you are doing that.  that's a great step.
i prefer maverick, hate the name, lost some things that I loved.  but overall, iOS compatibility.....
and you know on my older mac, i have a 2009/2010 white case, and yah, it didn't reach the speeds and processing that I personally required, and always had glitches, and funky electronic cul-de-sacs in working the machine.  mainly when you start wanting to do things like run parellels and windows, or you have a project and you need this plus that, but you are misisng a component.  i don't have those issues now.  not nearly as much LOL.
but I lost all my old adobe apps.  adobe totally cut me off.  not interested in moving forward with adobe for the buy in and live comfortably without it.
so there are some things that i mull through and remember, when I was in your chair, making similar comparisons in what to do and how to do it, and modifying my machine.  i upgraded.  i'm glad i made the jump.  but if you can't, there's probably some work arounds to assist you living with what you have and that's not a bad thing.  i did want to live with what I had. anyways.  good luck.

  • Please help, need to upgrade from 9.2.2 to osx 10.4 Tiger on imac g3 400 dv

Hello, I would greatly appreciate assistance to upgrade my operating system from 9.2.2 to osx 10.4.10. I have gotten the firmware upgrade installed to 4.1.9. Can anyone tell me what else I need to upgrade to have this computer able to install Tiger 10.4, on an imac g3 400 dv slot loading.....
Right now when I try to install the disc 10.4 using the option key at restart, it wont load the install disc. Any help would be appreciated , thank u in advance!!!!!!!

Hi, thank u for responding, my harddrive is 10 gigs, and my memory ram is only 64 megs, I ordered 2 512 mg from 18004memory.com and it didnt work , the computer said there was a memory issue. So I returned the memory back to 18004 memory.com...... I will neve ruse them again , because on their website they stated its guranteed to work and is compliant with imac 400 dv. They stated they will send me another set from another manufacturer, but to return the memory first.....
I know I meet all the requirements for tiger , except for the ram which apple says I need 256 mg,
But I was referring to any firmaware upgrades or bios upgrades or any of those type of programming upgrades to ready it for tiger, I know I installed the 4.19, and went from os 9.0 to its current 9.22, I think that alone was 5 upgrades. I think I might be missing an upgrade or maybe not. I will run the utility u posted and thank u for that.....
Apple told me that I can installl tiger 10.4.10 on this computer.
The install discs I bought on ebay state imac MAC osx install disc one and there is and install disc 2, it says AHT VERSION 3A127, and dated as produced in the year 2007. it colored grey , but doesnt have the black X like someone else posted it should have
Oh and it does open the files in 9.22, it does mount, and it does have folders,
Thank u for ur help as I progress to ultimately saving this imac....
    many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
