Programatically Adding Items

In 9.0.2, I need a simple interface to allow the users to add specific items into portal.
Currently, they need to do edit - add item - choose item type - enter item
attributes. This takes too much time. Is there an API or portlet to do this?

There are a few options:
1.Simplify the edit experience by using the page portlet instead of the full page. The page portlet offers an abbreviated edit mode that may be more acceptable to your users.
2. Edit the item type to minimize the number of attributes that the user needs to add. You have a lot of control over the Add Item and Edit Item screens.
3. Use WebDAV to allow users to upload files directly from their desktop. WebDAV support is much better in 9.0.2.6 than it was in 9.0.2.
4. The new improved List View in 9.0.2.6 offers another editing experience that your users may find more intuitive. You can publish a link that will take the user directly to the List View, avoiding the need to enter Edit mode and then switch to List view.
5. Develop your own Add Item Portlet using the content management APIs. These are new in Portal 9.0.2.6.
