Programming anyone?

I've dabbled in a LOT of languages over the couple years I've been in school, but really never excelled in any besides VB. I've kicked Windows to the curb many years ago and am getting my coding-itch again.
What would people recommend for someone wanting to get into a real language that's usable under Linux to make stuff? I want to be able to do decent looking gui's without a huge amount of work. Kinda the reason I'm afraid to get further into C++ and such. For the record, I use KDE. I've looked into the QT programming, it looks very confusing.

I looked into it before, but I guess I was wrong in my assumption I wouldn't be able to do much with it. Yes, I'm interested in solely Linux apps, nothing too major, just something to kill the coding itch and keep me busy.
Again, I could be wrong here, but I think I remember my major turn off for Python was that it was an interpreted language and not compiled. Maybe I'm wrong. Been a while.
No Java for me. I've dabbled in that and I really dislike it. I understand it, the need for it, and why people like/use it, but it's not for me. I avoid Java apps like the plague.

I am really frustrated that this is happening after I purchased this plan and would like to be able to use the product I have purchased

Keep in mind that it's your responsibility to provide a problem-free working environment on your computer for Photoshop, and system software (such as display drivers) can have problems.
Look in your Windows Event Logs (specifically, your Application Log) for the info requested above on the specific crashes.

Unhappy With Veterans United Lighthouse Program- Anyone know about breaking the agreement?

We started on the Veterans United Lighthouse program at the end of May, at that time, we had two of our three credit scores over the 600 mark and were told we only needed to gain 19 points on our credit score to be preapproved for a loan. When contacting them, we had planned on paying off some delinquent medical debt to help our score but they said not to touch it that all we needed to do is open one credit card account and that would probably do it for us... the lady suggested Wells Fargo for the card... and we were rejected and lost points on our credit score. We did find a card that approved us but then also saw another drop on our score. Anytime we call to try and get direction or answers to questions, she gives us conflicting advice... and now that our credit score fell she says "maybe you should pay down that medical debt"... this is what they told us not to touch when we began. It's very frustrating.We were supposed to at least be under contract and moving forward by now because we need to move to a different city for my husband's job in August but now she says it will take several more months... we are VERY unhappy with the service (or lack of service) we've gotten there and think it would just be better to handle our credit on our own because all she's done is give advice that caused it to fall. SO, here's my question... when we started the Lighthouse program, we signed an agreement that said something like "if you use the lighthouse program you agree to use us for your VA loan"- so now that we are very unhappy with the program, are we still bound to use them for a VA loan? I have read so many negative comments about Veterans United since I started myFICO message boards yesterday and this is very concerning for me. This form I signed was a digital, online form so I don't have a copy (I know, that was dumb of me to sign it- we were recommended to the program by a friend of ours who had a good experience so our guard was down a bit). ANY ADVICE?Current credit scores are now: 586, 602 & 583... rental houses are very expensive where we're moving to and we really NEED to buy but now it seems unatainable.

POP3 program anyone help me?

hi, i am having problems actually downloading an email from a pop3 server, I have done the GUI, i have logged into a server however I do not know how to use the commands in order to download a message.
I have some notes which suggest that RETR N is the command i need to download the email...
however when i use this the server response is "1 1578"
can anyone tell me the significance of the numbers and how i might be able to go about actually getting the email from the server, here is the full text of my server responses:

I appreciate you providing all the options available since I bought a new 2012 OS X 10.7.4 primarily for the imovie and found out I can't burn a dvd of the movies! So I bought a boxed version of ilife 06 and when I tried to install it I received the message: "Can't open because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
Since I would like to preserve the HD quality, is Toast my best option-- for my third try at making a movie? Or can I even make a HD video with my computer?

Anyone wrote a custom pgm(like in step 2) please let me know how to join
ap checks all and CE_BANK_ACCOUNTS tables.
In 11i there is ap bank accounts table and it has attribute2 column..Does 'atribute2' serve the same in R12 CE BANK ACCOUNTS TABLE also?
Also would like to know how to join between

Based on the external transaction type, you will link to the posting rules. Yes there are so many subfields, available if you see 61 fields, it tells you about the payment you have received/made, it gives the line item details of a particular transaction.
My sincere request is dont look at the bank statement and do the configuration. Do the configuration first and then SAP provides one program RFEBKATX. Using this program you can create a bank statement file and customer line items. Once after bank statement file is created you can import it using FF_5 and if your configuration is not properly made, it will let you know where you are missing. But this program will generate bank statement file in multi cash. How ever if your configuration is correct and if you are able to import bank statement, then there will not be any difficulty in importing MT 940.

I had the same situation and I tried the code that you sugested and it works. I was wondering, what am I expecting in the while loop that appears after the int inp; statement? Is some data going to be displayed on the screen? How essential is to have that while loop after the calling the exec() method?

What exactly do you mean by 'exit the program'? What program? Is your Flash Object in a browser, or is it an AIR app?
If you're talking about an AIR app, have a look at:
NativeWindow.close()

As soon as you open the Creative Cloud application it will check for updates. You are correct though that 1.0.0.183 is the current version available at the moment. Anyone seen this window that pops up randomly??? The cancel button just freezes iTunes and the OK button just closes it immediately. Anything info on this would be amazing. I'm not sure if its my computer's fault or what.

Plans for gcc 4.0.0?

Just wondering what Archlinux plans are for gcc 4.0.0, now that it's released. It seems rather interesting the new features for optimizing, which seems to be right up arch's alley. An i686-optimized linux distribution, after all, would benefit from better optimizations.
I'm just hoping that not too much is broken with this new release (everyone remembers gcc 2.95 -> 3), but since this release came much faster and isn't an almost complete rewrite like egcs was, hopefully we can expect a smoother transition.
I for one am excited about this new gcc release, much more than a new kde, gnome or x.org or whatever... Maybe it's just me that likes compilers so much and hates bytecode. But still, what is Arch's stance on this? Any plans to move forward? Maybe provide a gcc 4 package but keep compiling arch packages with 3.x until bugs get ironed out? Or be truly bleeding edge (it is stable software afterall though) and take the plunge and compile arch packages with this new fancy gcc?
Autovectorization seems rather interesting ( http://gcc.gnu.org/projects/tree-ssa/vectorization.html there's the link for anyone interested), yet needs -msse or -msse2 flags to be set. Is this feasible? Would this binary nicely optimized for processors with sse or sse2 run that much worse on hardware without such instructions?
What is arch's stance on instructions like sse or 3dnow? Are packages compiled with such optimizations? If so why or if not why not? I personally think that most arch users use relatively recent hardware and would benefit... But then again, I'm just wondering aloud.

This has been discussed alot - my stance (not Arch's) is that Arch is i686 based - that's the common factor... if you start creeping with that, when will it stop? first we require SSE, then MMX, then SSE2... we may end up switching from "an i686 optimized distro" to "a distro optimized to run on AMD processors produced after November 12th 2004".
In addition, SSE instructions only make sense in advanced math applications, FFT programs, and multimedia stuff... it's a small subset of the applications... think about it: how could something like vim benefit from loop vectorization? it really can't... sure you may get some things improved... but it's vim, you don't need to do 50 calculations in the time it takes to do 1 - it's not processor intensive.
And let's look at the apps that do make use of SSE: multimedia - improve the performance of mpegs and mp3s? who watches that much porn?

FFT programs - anyone seriously doing complex FFT/DSP calcs on Arch? I doubt it
Advanced Math - sure might make sense, but it doesn't warrant a recompile and optimization of the entire set of packages.
So, in my opinion, enabling SSE/SSE2/MMX/MMX2/whatever else you get:
- loss of some processor support
+ improvement in MP3 playback
+ faster calculation of PI
- a bunch of apps you had to redownload with negligable performance gain

Multiple development repositories issues

We are going forward with multiple repositories for development. I would
greatly appreciate any input from individuals who have implemented such a
strategy or who have investigated it.
Development would occur simultaneously in several repositories with one
repository ultimately having all plans (projects) from all repositories.
Other repositories would only have the projects that they are responsible
for developing and read only copies of ones that they need as suppliers.
The following are concerns
* Keeping track of project versions and supplier plan dependencies
* Propagating changes in one repository to another.
* What is the definitive number of people in a repository for
development/production. I have heard 10-12 and as many as 25 before
performance degradation occurs.
The solutions we have settled on (in the interim) are:
* There will be no more than 10-12 developers per repository
* Each development team will get their own repository
* All project versions developed will be checked into a source code
control (SCC) program
* Anyone requiring a project as a supplier plan will pull them from
SCC into a slave workspace of their repository, integrate it into the
baseline and check it out (along with all supplier plans to that project
with correct version).
Does anyone else see the headache here?..... Bueller?

Upgraded OS: How Can I Get iCloud Photo Library or Photostream to Sync to a Dedicated Mac Folder?

I'm totally frustrated and confused even after Googling. Hopefully someone can help me understand what it is Apple wants me to do.
As of yesterday, when I took a photo or uploaded a photo to any of my devices, it would transmit via Photostream to all my other Apple devices (iPad, another iPhone, Windows PC, and MBP).
Now I found it infinitely frustrating that while the photos would neatly deposit themselves in a specific Photostream folder on each device, even my PC has a dedicated Photostream folder provided by Apple's iCloud app for PC, there was no such folder or provision for Macs!
In order to access my Photostream on my MBP, I either had to open Aperture or iPhoto, or go to iCloud.com and then import the photo.
I upgraded to iOS8 on my primary phone to finally to take advantage of iCloud Photo Library and have the photos sent directly to my Mac's (running Yose) iCloud Drive folder --- or so I thought. Not only do I not get photos on my Mac's iCloud Drive Folder, it seems to have broken the link between my other devices!
To add injury to insult, my Phone sent me a "Could not back up - iCloud Storage almost full" message. Considering I had 2GB of iCloud storage available, I was shocked to read the fine print on iCloud Photo Library ... it uses your iCloud's storage, unlike Photostream which is totally free.
Is there any way or program anyone has found to deliver a seamless and intelligent Photostream folder on a Mac that behaves seamlessly and intelligently as it does with Apple's PC iCloud App and iOS native Photostream?

That's correct but your 10.6.8 machine has no way to put it there unless you manually enter it on the website.

The syncing to the same data in Mountain Lion is done via the System Preferences > iCloud, which I have done.
Supposedly that means the data on the iCloud server is then shared between the iPod Touch, SL and ML, but it is not.
Because data entered on the SL machine never makes it from iCal or AB to iCloud or from iCloud to AB or iCal, the link breaks there.. You can use a 3rd party app (Soho) and use it instead of AB and iCal.
But the problem exists on ML as well.
I get only some Contacts and iCal events transferring.
What you are seeing is probably from SL account which I use 95% of the time. Particularly my Address Book entries. I hardly entered any of those in ML, they virtually all come from SL and seem to have transferred previously. Possibly before the latest iOS updates, but I can't swear to that as I didn't check before/after.
The vast majority of my Address Book entries appear in both iCloud.com and my iPod Touch, but not my latest changes.
This is far from the "It just happens!" promised by Apple.
