Programming for College with Windows Apps on bootcamp HELP?

Hello everyone I come to you for help after a long search for the perfect laptop.
Right now I am using a macbook late 2009 with multitouch. I love the features but after signing up for some programming classes for college I had to revise what laptop I should own.
My question is if I'll be able to program on bootcamp with Windows 7 with windows applications like Dev C++, Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, an assembler and the like with 100% compatibility?
I am on a very low income but I think that Apple really gets it when it comes to mobile laptops. I haven't found anything comparable to a Macbook anywhere. I've seen some imitations like the HP Envy but when you look closely they do not come close.
Laptop PC makers just don't get it with their 2 hour battery life, "Desktop replacements" and heavy laptops. What is the point of all that if it's not mobile.
I can only own one laptop and I will upgrade to a 15 inch because I need the screen real state. I'm hoping that the answer will be YES to compatibility with programming applications on Windows 7.
One last thing, I've heard of Xcode but college teaches on Windows Applications, there is no way around it. I need to use what everyone else is using right now.

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
running Windows with BootCamp on a Mac is like running Windows on any other given computer.
Those programs you mentioned shouldn't give you any kind of problems.
Only very low-level BIOS and/or hardware programming (in assembler) can arise problems due to some differences between Macs and 'other' PCs (like the lack of a full BIOS support).
Other than that you're good to go.

Need AV or IS Software for Mac with Windows apps?

I would like to know if it is advisable to install anti-virus or Internet security software on a Mac if you run both Mac and Windows applications. I ask this question because I understand that those programs may not as necessary for Mac applications only but I wonder if the Windows applications that I installed under Parallels Desktop 7 will cause the computer to be vulnerable. Antivirus software for OS X is not necessary. However if you run MS Windows in any fashion meaning via Boot Camp or virtualization software such as Parallels or Fusion then you should treat the MS Windows installation as you would ANY MS Windows installation, in other words install antivirus software for MS Windows! The good news is even if your MS Windows becomes totally diseased this will in no way affect the OS X installation.
In your case because you have installed Windows in Parallels then get yourself some antivirus software for MS Windows and install away. You can resist the urge for antivirus software for OS X though for many reasons, first an foremost is there are zero (none, nada, zip) viruses for OS X. While there are some trojans out there for OS X they are few and far between. The primary difference between a Trojan and virus is that Trojans must be downloaded and installed by the user. The lesson to learn here is only download from trusted sites and any site that tells you to download something should be approached with a great deal of caution. In other words if you aren't sure don't do it and come to a these forums and ask. The next reason OS X doesn't need antivirus software is most take up a lot resources on your computer and slow it down, and finally many tend to create more problems than they solve. If you still aren't convinced then download ClamXav, it's free, unobtrusive and kept up-to-date.

It is not like the old days where you build a site in Front Page and you assume it will only be seen on a desktop computer. If you build it yourself with a web page program, do you have the knowledge to make a site that works on all of the different web browsers and mobile devices, and is friendly to search engines and social media? If you don't have those skills, working with a website company can be a lot better, faster, and more reliable than trying to hammer all of that out yourself using code in some app.

Using iPhoto Libraries for Wallpaper with Windows XP running in VMWare

I have Windows XP running in a VMWare Fusion virtual setup - ie no bootcamp.
I'm guessing this isn't possible, but here goes....
I have all my desktop wallpaper in iPhoto, all my data is on the Mac HDD I'd like to use the libraries for Windows as well, is there any sort of app I could get on Windows side that would let it look inside the iPhoto Libraries and select a picture. Instead of having to keep a second copy of all the pictures for the Windows side to use ????

I wouldn't expect so.
Apple tend only to port apps to Windows or facilitate Windows apps when it helps to sell Apple Hardware. So, Safari is ported to Windows because it helps sell iPhones, iTunes because of iPods. Hard to see Apple selling hardware to someone buying Windows Home Server.

if you say yes,
then
type msconfig in start->run
click startup tab and deselect the corresponding checkbox
or
go to control panel -> administrator tools -> services -> select the service , then right click properties and select disable in drop down,
or
control panel -> add or remove programs -> select j2ee-xxx remove it

Heya! Basically when installing the software for Microphoto it stops saying that as my device hasn't been tested for use with windows it cant install for fear of corrupting my laptop! Can anyone help me overcome this because i installed it aagges ago and it let me have the option of continuing the installating, but i had 2 uninstall it and upon reinstalling it it does not give me the option to continue. It just cancels the installation. Can someone please help me as this is driving me nuts!! Y is it that technology is continuosly mucking up grrrrr!

Are you runnning Win XP SP2? If so, this is a standard warning about unsigned drivers, but it should still give you the option to "continue anyway" to complete the installation.
Also, make sure you have Windows Media Player 0, as this is needed for Windows XP (drivers) to recognize your MicroPhoto.
