Programming under vista 64bit

Hi everybody,
i'm looking for some stuff for 64bit support.
I installed JDK 6.0 for amd64 under vista 64bit (I have a core 2 duo process).
I did'nt find a good software which support 64Bit (eclipse support only win32 not 64 at all).
Here is some stuff i'm searching for 64 support:
- Log4j
- Eclipse (or another IDE..)
- Java 3D (installed with amd64 version under a core 2 duo computer)
- JAI (did'nt find anything about a 64 bit version)
- JMF (found for linux... not for vista :( can compile sources anyelse )
- ANT ( same as JMF, found for linux)
I need some help please, i'm looking on apache.org, eclipse.org... posted some topics.
Please help.
Thank you

I have done some research on this and must say it is not much info about 64bit which can give me any info on how many actually uses it.
My stats does not at all show anything about different Explorer browsers for 32 and 64 bit.
And there is no stat for 64bit system.
From the info I got it seems to be possible to run both the 32bit browser and the 64bit on a 64bit Vista. Does this give a difference for support for QTVR and for other Quicktime movies?
I can see that there is no Flash plugin for 64 bit as well so is there also a problem with flash panoramas?

  • Elements 6 Runs under Vista 64 BUT nothing happens !

Under Vista 64bit OS I have installed the elements 6 software and the installation completed fine. When I start the
program nothing happens. I have inserted an SD card into my PC and the Adobe Photo Autodownloader started OK, so at least part of
    the software is working.
I have tried an uninstalled and reinstall  but this makes no difference. If I open the program, nothinghappens. The process appears in Task Manager as running Photoshop Element 6.0.exe but the application does not start. Aside from the entry in the Task Manager there is no sign of the application actually running.
I have an open problem with Adobe but so far they have sent one suggested fix that was for a different application on a different operating system ! Plus one suggested fix that was for a different problem !
Has anyone seen this and/or can provide any suggestions.
Any help would be very much appreceated. !

    Hi,
Thanks for this suggestion .  I have tried this twice but it does not seem to make any difference so I still have the problem where nothing happens when I run the application.
Not sure if anyone else has this issure.
Adobe support suggested this as well (a few hours after yourself).
Any other suggestions out there ?

  • Windows Vista 64bit and Zen, Video Convertsion

We just updated out computer to one with Windows Vista 64bit.
Everything was fine until we tried to convert a .mov file to place it on the Zen. First it said we needed Quicktime ver 7 (which apparently the original video was created with). Tried to install that, to no avail. Turns out Quicktime 7 is not supported under Vista 64bit, according to Apple.
I then found on another message board of people having trouble running iTunes on Vista 64. Use the following link:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can then select the 64bit version of iTunes.
After the install the video conversion worked perfectly.
    Hope this helps others.
    Thanks

Can I run 64bit Vista in Bootcamp?
Yes. Both the computer and OS X are fully 64-bit compliant.
You can install a second video card that does not work with OS X but does work with Windows. Third-party video cards do not work with OS X because they do not have the EFI boot ROM required by OS X. They will, however, work when you boot into Windows. You do not need to convert the Mac Pro to a Windows-only machine which would seem a waste of perfectly good hardware and software.
You can install any SATA hard drive in the Mac Pro. There is no limitation with regard to size. Cache, however, is a feature of the drive and not the computer. Apple does not "qualify" drives for use with the computer.
These questions have been discussed in the Mac Prp fourms so I suggest you search the forums for other discussions of the topics.

  • Power manager problem under vista 64 bit

Happy to see Lenovo opened a forum and willing to hear from the customers.
Power manager has problems under Vista 64bit:
    1. Sometimes it will cause explore.exe can't start when windows start.
    2. If no window at max, the color of the battery icon will be very dim
Hope Lenovo can publish a new edition for vista 64 bit.

  • No thumbnail rotation in Bridge CS4 under Win7/64bit

Bridge CS4 was working fine under Vista 64bit.  After updating to Windows 7 64bit thumbnail rotation does not work (neither using [] shortcuts, nor the tolbar arrows).  My computer has a GeForce 8600GT, to date in terms of updates.  I tried resetting the preferences, purging the cache etc to no avail.  Any suggestions?
    TIA

Memory can also mean inadequate page file, memory problems, or cache.  Also, since it is a new computer don't rule out defective RAM.

  • Why Does CS3 load into Program Files (x86) in Vista 64bit

I built a computer with Vista 64bit. All my CS3 files loaded into Prpogram Files (x86). Doesn't that mean they will only run at 32bit?

PrPro will probably not be 64-bit, until CS5, if then. Now, only Photoshop CS4 is a 64-bit app.
Judging from some of the questions in the recent Adobe poll, it appears that 64-bit for PrPro is at least a consideration.

  • Vista 64bit can't find driver for networked Laserjet 3390.

I originally posted the following in the wrong section so I posted a retraction there and am reposting in this networking section. ===== I have an all-in-one Laserjet 3390 printer. It's connected to my WinXP Pro PC via USB and works fine as a printer. I don't use the scanner since I have a Canonon scanner that I use. I bought a Dell Studio 1537 laptop that came with Vista Home Premium 64bit installed. I networked the laptop to the WinXP PC via ethernet cables and a Belkin router. I can transfer files between both PCs with no problems. Now I'm trying to print on the 3390 from the Laptop. When using the Vista laptop, I can see the 3390 on the network. But when I try to connect to it, a window pops up saying: ***** The server for the 'HP LaserJet 3390 Series PCL6' printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or original equipment manufacturer for the correct printer driver.***** So I selected Vista 64bit on the HP website and downloaded the Universal Print Driver HPUPD47PCL664.exe. Unzipped that file in a folder on the Vista laptop. Then connected to the 3390 printer again from the Vista laptop as I did before and when the pop up occured, I browsed to the folder that contains the unzipped UPD driver. I see several .inf files which is what the install program wants but when I click OK, a pop up says: ***** Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver. Contact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver. ***** Any ideas?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

mrlaw10,  You do not need the HP software since your printer is already on the network.
First, do a Windows Update.  Next,
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices and Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's host name (found on the printer's network configuration report the generated above). Click Next.
If you get a message about Additional Port Information Required, then the printer was not found using the host name. You can go back and retry or using the printer's IP address instead of the host name.
    7. Select HP or Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Make a choice and click Next.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Problem with running a program under Labview 8.6

    Hello,
I am writing you this to ask for your technical support to fix the problem I am facing at our Lab at University of California, Irvine.
Ms. Vanessa Trujillo has kindly come to our lab a couple of times and tried different things to resolve the issue, but unfortunately the issue is not resolved yet. Here is a summary of the problem:
We used to use Labview 6.1 for our fatigue testing and data acquisition.
    Our
program worked just fine under the 6.1 version We recently upgraded our software to Labview 8.6. We have also purchased a new computer that has higher capacity than what your website requires for Labview 8.6. The new computer has Windows Vista We transferred our old program/subprograms from the old computer under Labview
6.1 to the new computer with labview 8.6. However our program that worked fine with the 6.1 version is not working with the updated version (ver 8.6).
    There
are 6 errors in the error list. It appears there are six files of my program missing under the new version, even though we transferred all files.
The software searches for those files but can't find them.
For example one the box pops up indicates:
            loading:
                        <vlib>:\Daq\lvdaq.dll
            searching:
                        C:\Program Files\National Instrument\LabVIEW 8.6\instr.lib\Agilent34401\public\utility
I get several message like this. I have to cancel/ignore them all to be able to open the program.
When we go to VI's under Measurement I/O there is nothing (empty).
We use a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 for our data acquisition During Labview installation on the new computer, I was asked if I wanted to install the device drivers. I had two options, "Now" or "Later", I picked Now but I didn't have the DVD's/CD's for the device drivers. Therefore I had to select later to complete my software installation Later after Labview 8.6 installation, we installed the device drivers (traditional Ni DAQ and Ni DAQmx) from the two old CD's we had in our lab from a couple of years ago (the CD's were Ni DAQ 7). after installation, the PCI board on the computer was recognized by the device driver. However we still could not run our program under the new version of Labview (same situation and the same messages) I called 1-866-275-6964 on 9/2/08 and talked to Grant (service number:
1228841). He recommended that I download and install the updated version of device drivers.
Since I didn't have the DVD/CD for updated device drivers, I contacted Vanessa Trujillo. She gave me the DVD for the updated Ni DAQ (Traditional and mx).
    But
when I tried to install the updated device drivers I got a message something like "some unsupported filed have been detected,..." so the updated device
drivers were not installed. It should be noted that up to here we still had the Ni DAQ (traditional and mx) installed on the computer from our old CD's (Ni DAQ 7).
Vanessa and I talked to Tom at the technical support department. He recommended that we download and install the Beta xx version for Ni DAQ since we were using Windows Vista. Mike put the Beta software on the Ni website/outgoing so I could download and install it. He asked me to uninstall the traditional Ni DAQ that we had on our computer from the older CD's. He
asked me not to un-install the Ni DAQmx (that we had installed from the old
CD). I was able to download the Beta software, however I could not install it since I got a similar message that some unsupported files were detected.
Right now we don't have any version of traditional Ni DAQ installed on the
computer but the NI DAQmx (from old Ni DAQ 7) is still installed on the computer. Vanessa let me borrow her new Ni DAQ DVD but as I explained I am not able to install the device drivers.
Vanessa - Did I miss anything?
Please advise. My cell number is 619-778-2033. I will be at our lab at UC,
Irvine at 2:00pm (CA/Pacific time). Please call if you have any questions.
    Thank you

To me, it looks like you are missing some of the drivers and subVI's used in your program.
Whatever device you are using to measure fatigue or any other device probably came with a driver.
You need all of these drivers installed on this new computer.
Also, any subVI's and libraries you use in the program must also be installed on the new computer.
Whenever you get a message that says you are missing some component (the ones that you said you press 'ignore'),
see if you can find that library or subVI on the older computer. If so, save it to something so you can transfer them to the new computer.

  • ICloud wont work on Windows Vista 64bit

    Hey there,
Ive been using iCloud with my iPhone 4, iPad and my MacBook Pro since it came out and it all works perfect.
Now I wanted it to run on my Windows Vista 64bit Desktop PC, to sync with Safari, Outlook etc.
My problem is: Everytime I start iCloud and confirm my username and password, iCloud is just shutting down saying "iCloud is no longer working" (in German: iCloud funktioniert nicht mehr)
I reinstalled it severall times and its always the same error...MobileMe has the same error by the way...Ive searched so long on the web and in other forums but no one had a clue...Hopefully you can help me!
    Thanks,
    p0ly

Hmmm.  No, not exactly, but close enough (for me).  Sorrry, in my rush I klutz'd the response.  First I had MicroSoft  do a clean install of 64 bit Offfice on my 64 bit Vista, then I uninstalled MobileMe, and iCloud, then reinstalled iCloud in that order.  Oh...and by the way ... this was on 2 of my Vista machines.  My virgin Win 7 machine had no issues at all with 32 bit.
The salient point I (regretably) missed in my first reply was to clean up the all references to Outlook in the registry.  The tech tought the problem was related to keys for a (long ago) trial version of Office;  Tho that was speculation on his part.
One thing is clear:  The Apple tech said MobileMe has been replaced by iCloud and to remove it!
In the process, I learned that each (4) MS tech's stated, "Outlook has no issues, the problem is with Apple."  I had to force them to do a clean install ... after failing with 2 techs I took a harder stance - happy I did.  One told me they are under pressure to keep their calls under 15 minutes.  Uninstall/cleanup/reinstall took ~2 hours.
    Appologies p0ly,
    tom

  • Camera Raw editing is not enabled - ACR5.4 Vista 64bit

When I use Bridge, and right click and select to open a raw file in Camera Raw, I get this message:
"Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
There is no problem in Bridge when opening a raw file in Camera Raw when just Open With (PS) or double-clicking
I have seen many have the same problem, and I have tried most of the hints found in forums, but no luck.
I running Windows Vista 64bit. Installed and activated Photoshop CS4 in the standard directories and installed ACR 5.4 manually as described by Adobe by copy the plugin files to folders:
    Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats\
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats\
There are no other files in this 2 directories.
I have tried purging cache, and have closed both Brigde and Photoshop and startet Bridge from Photoshop by using -file, -browse in Bridge. And still the same problem.
There are no errors in the files alm.log and amt.log in %temp% directory.
    Thanks for any help

I have just upgraded to Win 7 64bit and have had a similar problem with getting "Camera Raw editing is not enabled" in Bridge
I had installed CS4 as a trial whilst I tested that my install of Win 7 was OK
When I activated CS4 I was using CS4 64 bit and never got the "I have deactivated the software from another machine" question
I tried lost of things to get Camera Raw editing in Bridge and all failed.
When I tried CS4 32 bit it wanted to activate the software - it  asked the "I have deactivated the software from another machine" question and then rejected the activation as two PC were using the key.
I deactivated CS4 from the 64bit side and removed the key
Then I activated using CS4 32bit - all seems OK now
    Hope this works for you

  • ITunes 7.3.1 under VISTA causes DVD/CD driver conflicts or blockage !!!!!!!

After installing iTunes under VISTA I noticed that both of my DVD/CD drives were missing. Device manager shows a conflict or blockage causing the drivers not to start.
I tried iTunes 7.3.1 on another PC with VISTA and it did the same thing. I had to remove iTunes since it basically disables by DVD and CD drives. Any ideas?

Actually everything is working just fine after I had
uninstalled iTunes 7.3.1. Oh, I didn't have error
code 31 but just for your information it was 10.
Please don't give bad advice to people or perhaps to
some that don't even know what regedit is or will
even do for that matter. Apple should be able to
put together a script that will get the job done
correctly without having the enduser try a dangerous
    tool.
I love how you're asking for help, and then refusing the help provided. Regedit is complex, but that article goes through it step by step, and even gets you to export the specific registry tree that you will be working on, so you can set the registry back to how it was before.
However, the regedit fix that was mentioned earlier would be the easiest thing to go through. If you go through the steps and it doesn't work, try going through the exact same steps again, except skip the step where is says to enter 'GEARAspiWDM' in the UpperFilters. If you just leave UpperFilters blank, and restart the computer, the CD drive should re-appear, and iTunes should work (but give you a message saying that you'll be unable to import or burn CD's... although most of the time you still can anyways). If it doesn't work, you can always import the registry tree back to how it was before, and close out of that scary regedit program.

  • Light Room Under Vista 1.3.1

Hello, I purchased lightroom back in 4/07 with hopes of eventually getting a new computer around christmas.
So around christmas I got my new computer and moved my copy of LightRoom from an XP machine to a Vista Home Premium Machine. Quad core 6600 2.4GHz 3GB Memory and 512MB Nvida 8800GT Graphics card. It seemed to run okay at first but then when I updated from 1.0 to 1.3.1 it got to were it barely runs. It can take upto 5 hours for it to import 25 10MP raw files from a card to DNG format, creating standard previews. about 20minutes ago I clicked auto tone for a photo still waiting 20 minutes later for the new render of the file.
I have tried disabling the AERO Feature, I have tired deleting and recreating the preference file.
On Adobe's website it shows it is windows vista compatible, but now that I click on there tech support site is shows they don't guarantee it to work under vista.
Then I read under the knowledge base that NVIDA Display Manger software creates a know issue with this. So they stat I should remove it. I am not sure if I have the version the reference as it is not called the same. But serves the same function and comes from NVIDA. It just seems kind of silly I buy a new computer with 2 22" monitors to work on photographs. Buy the software that is suppose to be great only to read in the knowledge base they recommend that you remove dual monitor support from your computer to get things to run. This really seems odd considering they tout my other software photoshop and its ability to use multiple monitors. Hence the reason I upgraded my machine in the first place.
Any help anyone can give it getting on the path to once again being able to use lightroom would be great.

    Hello Breezez,
I think there must be something else going on on your computer, the dual monitor support should be no problem. I use Lightroom under Vista on a less powerfull machine with Aero switched on, dual screens and DNG files and have no problem whatsoever. I use an ATI Radeon X800 Pro video adapter, not exatly the most up to date video card for that matter. My database contains more the 7000 photographs, most af them DNGs. I would be surprised if the slow speed had anything to do with using two screens. It sounds as if some other process is eating processor capacity. Checking for updates for your video card, BIOS and chipset drivers seems good advice to me. Try switching off the antivirus program (temporarily of course!). There might be a resource conflict.

  • No OpenGL under XP 64bit

I have a problem with CS4 under XP 64 bit. The 'Enable OpenGL Drawing' checkbox in the preferences is grayed out. I have a Radeon 4580 card which should work with CS4. I recently had Vista 64bit installed and there was no problem there... OpenGL worked just fine in CS4, just as it should.
But I can't get it working in XP64. I've installed the latest drivers but still nothing.
Anyone have the same problem? or the same setup and got it working?

I have XP-64 and you can get OGL working. Just use the enable old GPU hack mentioned in other threads here.
I have found it to be about the same speed as CS3 without OGL enabled and slightly faster with it enabled. The filters work much faster and interoperability between LR 2.1 64-bit and CS4 64-bit is extremely fast. 64-bit filters like Neat Image are instantaneous. I am typically working on 16-bit tifs from the 1Ds MK II.
Presently working with Word, Outlook, Opera, PS CS4, LR 2.1 open and the task manager is running a total of 31 processes which includes three separate processes for the Wacom tablet and ESET Smart Security in the background.
The lagginess that others report is there with the rough round bristle brush at 100 and the dry brush tip light flow 66. There is no lagginess with the other brushes at default sizes. Some images, not typically large, with lots of adjustment layers and layer effects open slowly, sometimes a square at a time, but when the same file is opened on CS2 w/XP 32-bit it opens the same way.
XP-64 is not supported, nor was it supported in CS3. I have found that using the Wacom pen speeds up the brush response. Using a wireless mouse slows things considerably.
