Programs in 32 bit

ive got the 64 bit windows 10 installed but all my programs are running in 32 bit. and ive tried playing cod ghosts but it isnt working and presume its because it requires 64 bit.

Hi,
Try to run this game in compatibility mode for a test, 64 bit system has the 32 bit emulator:
WOW64 is the x86 emulator that allows 32-bit Windows-based applications to run seamlessly on 64-bit Windows
Running 32-bit Applications
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa384249(v=vs.85).aspx
so this could be compatibility issue, if compatibility mode cannot help, we would need a updated version for this game.

  • Compressor 3.5 won't let me reduce the MPEG2 program file average bit rate

    Compressor 3.5 won't let me reduce the MPEG2 program file average bit rate less then 10Mbps. I just installed this new version and it is giving me this problem. I have been delivering an 1hr MPEG2 program streaming at 6Mbps average to 7.1Mbps Max output with Compressor 1 for a year now. Here is my workflow;
Drop the 1440X1080 into NTSC timeline and DO NOT conform so it will be rendering as 720X480 then shoot that sequence to compressor to above settings. It worked just fine for a year. Now, this new compressor wont let me do less then 10Mbps which is the lowest bitrate for HD. The network can not run any bigger file than 6Mbps. I checked my settings restarted and all that. IS this a bug that needs to be fixed? Any help would be appreciated since my deadline is tomorrow.

Sorry, meant to say that this only happens with court databases. As far as I can tell, I can download from other sites with no trouble.

  • Windows 8, 64 bit OS installs few Windows programs of 32 bit!

Windows 8 64 bit use shows few programs of 32 bit architecture! Its not welcome because of degradation of 64 bit architecture to 32 bit architecture. Tell me if Microsoft allows download of 64 bit programs (Windows Media Player for example). Other worldly
features of 64 bit shouldn't be overlooked.

To my knowledge, there is no pure 64bit version of Windows. They all support WOW (Windows on Windows) which has support for 32bit applications.

  • Possible to run a 32 bit program in 64 bit Windows 7 Pro?

    Hi
I've ordered a Thinkpad X220 which here in UK only comes with 64 bit version of windows 7 pro. Problem is that there a couple of programs which i use which only run in 32 bit windows (no 64 bit version available) and they run fine in my existing Win 7 32 bit version...i've tried them on a friend's pc running 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate and they do not work. Is there any way to make these programs work in Win 7 Pro 64 bit on my soon-to-arrive X220? If i downloaded and installed 'Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC" on my X220, would this help in making the 32 bit programs work on my 64 bit Win 7?

    Phychopomp1,
Windows 7 64 bit is able to run 32 bit programs. However, some programs will have issues.
Have you checked your programs against the Windows 7 compatibility list: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=2394
This should tell you if they are compatible or not with Windows 7 64-bit.
There are compatibility settings that you can try once you have installed the software also. Right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then go to the compatibility tab and try the various OS settings.
If those things fail, then you should try Windows XP Mode (convenience link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). This will allow you to install your programs in a virtual copy of Windows XP SP3 using Windows Virtual PC. Once XP Mode is installed, when you install your software into it, you will get a shortcut to use the program from your Windows 7 start menu without even seeing the XP Mode window.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to install 32 bit program with 16 bit installer on Windows 8.1 32 bit

    Hi,
I have installed a 32 bit program that uses a 16 bit installer on Windows XP machines.  The software developer of this program is out of business.
Can Windows 8.1 32 bit run a 16 bit installer?  If not, any suggestions as to how I might install this program?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi
You need to  to install Windows XP in Hyper-V, because start from windows 8, they no longer support 16bit program.
     or you already try DOSBox?

  • 32-bit C++ program call 64 bit oracle library

Currently I had a 32-bit program written in C++, and it called some 64-bit Oracle libraries.
Since occasionally, we found that there is some core dump error when the program executed for more than 3 hours, and our DBA highlight this finding to us.
I would like to check if it is safe to call the 64-bit libraries in a 32-bit program.
How can I recompile my exe to 64-bit
Currently, the program is run on SunOS 5.8
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Eddie

It is not possible for a 32-bit program to link to or dlopen a 64-bit library. So your 32-bit program is not calling 64-bit functions. If you somehow managed to make such a call (and I don't see how you could) the program would crash immediately.
Maybe you mean you are opening a large file (bigger than 4GB) by means of LARGEFILE macros. The program itself is still limited to a 32-bit address space, but can read, write, and move around inside the large file.
If your program crashes, try running dbx, pointing it to the program and the core file and see where it crashed. Or run the program under dbx.
You can compile your program to run as a 64-bit program (automatically getting large-file support) by adding the option -xarch=v9 to every compile and link command line. All parts of the program, including all libraries you use, must also have been compiled with -xarch=v9. The compiler will automatically use the 64-bit versions of system libraries when you use -xarch=v9. If you link to 3rd-party libraries (such as Oracle), follow the vendor's instructions for 64-bit code.
If the program was not written to be a 64-bit program, it might have hidden assumptions that prevent it from working as a 64-bit program. Typical problems are assuming that ints and longs, or ints and pointers, are the same size. For C code, you can use lint options to warn about 64-bit portability problems. For C++ code, you can use the option combination "-xarch=v9 -xport64" to get portability warnings. Refer to the C and C++ manuals for more information.
The Solaris "file" command will tell you whether a program or library uses 32-bit or 64-bit code.
    For example:
    % file /usr/lib/libc.so.1
/usr/lib/libc.so.1:     ELF 32-bit MSB dynamic lib SPARC Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped
    % file /usr/lib/sparcv9/libc.so.1
/usr/lib/sparcv9/libc.so.1:     ELF 64-bit MSB dynamic lib SPARCV9 Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped

  • Problems running 16-bit programs in (32-bit) Windows 10TP

When I try to run (any) 16-bit program (that runs just fine under Windows XP and Windows 7) under W10TP Build 9860, I get the following error message:
"16-BIT MS-DOS SUBSYSTEM. Command prompt <program name>. NTVDM has encountered a system error. A device attached to the system is not functioning. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."
So, I tried setting compatibility mode (for all users) to "Windows XP SP3", and found that (some) of the programs would run, although CMD.EXE opens a separate window as though they were run with a "Start" command.
However, many of them will not run even with compatibility mode set. And, the error message window opens and closes so rapidly that it is impossible to see what the message is!
I tried setting compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2, 98 and 95 with no difference in the aforementioned behavior.
Then an even stranger anomaly occurred! I unchecked "compatibility mode" for one of the programs, and ran it so I could copy the above-listed error message verbatim. Then I rechecked "compatibility mode" (for all users). Now, when I run
the program from the command prompt, it gives me the same error message as when CM is NOT checked, but if I run it from (right-click) Start > Run, or Windows-key +R, or by clicking on the program in Windows explorer, it does run!
I tried this with a second program, and obtained the same mysterious results!
So what is causing these events, and what is the solution? Why should unchecking and rechecking CM alter the behavior of the program when run from the command prompt?
    An additional question: The 'compatibility mode' settings are stored in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers" /v <program name> /d WINXPSP3
When I set this value via Properties, it gives the entries a value of "~ WINXPSP3", but it appears that a value of "WINXPSP3" (set via Regedit or Reg.exe) has the same effect. What is the purpose of the "~"?
    Thank you for your input.

    Hi
i have the same issue and behavior with CM option
i am just wondering something. Did you installed it in a virtual machine?
i did it with vmplayer and i see is there no video card installed in the system
i dont know if this issue can be connected by the presence and the configuration of virtual machine or is just a bug of the W10 preview version
the fact is that it happens also if you try to use the edit.com command present in the system

  • Launch button for PS CC runs 32-bit version of program, not 64-bit version

I'm starting to get reports from people that after initially installing PS CC that the launch button created during installation launches the 32-bit version of PS CC instead of the 64-bit version.
To check which version you're running, click Help>About Photoshop... on the menu bar.
The version that shows up should have "x64" at the end for the 64-bit version of the program.
If the version is "x32", you can get a launch button for the 64-bit version inside the application folder--C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC (64-bit).
So far this appears to be an issue just with Windows computers.

    Tony,
It is not an issue, By default on a 64 bit Win machine both PS 32 bit and 64 bit application get installed.
If you want to work with 64 bit application launch Adobe Photoshop CC(64 bit) from Start->Programs, Otherwise for 32 bit Ps Adobe Photoshop CC.
To still verify the launched version, the steps you mentioned would help.

  • Recording stops when alt-tab to another program (win7 64 bit)

I recently upgraded to Audition 3.0 so I could use Audition on my new Win7 64 bit setup.
Everything seems to work pretty good except..........
While recording, if I leave the Audition program (for instance, to use my browser while making a recording) recording immediately stops.
Has anyone else run into this?
Is there a setting someplace that I've overlooked?
I'm sure this is not the way it should work - Win XP & Audition 1.1 worked fine while multitasking.
Suggestion much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

For many days I searched for answer of how an Internet Explorer add-on installed because few websites won't run without it, but Windows OS or Internet Explorer itself won't allow install of these add-ons.

    2. For 64 bit Windows I kept on trying to install 64 bit add-ons for Internet Explorer, which won't install or would send message 'Incompatible', once default installations of these add-on's are disturbed but not completely uninstalled, new installations
won't be entertained at all, only way is reinstall of Internet Explorer.
    3. Therefore I installed Apple's 'Safari', which also displayed same messages, but allowed install of 'Quick Time', and now I listen to my favourite songs on a great sound system of a website.
