Programs listed as devices

I've downloaded a couple of programs: Safari and MacFamilyTree 5. They are working fine but appear as devices in Finder below Macintosh HD and iDisk and as icons on the desktop separate from the Macintosh HD. Can I or should I get them into the HD with other applications? How do I do that? Thanks.

Sorry for my ignorance, I just don't want to mess something up. Do I drag say the Firefox icon on the desktop into the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop or the program name under devices into the Macintosh HD folder in devices? Thanks again. Daryl

Apple TV not in the list of devices: Win XP, Rendezvouz 1.0.6, iTunes 8.2.1

I bought a new Apple TV yesterday
I plugged it in and followed the instructions.
It picked up an IP via DHCP from my router 192.168.0.102/24
My laptop is hosting my iTunes library, 192.168.0.101/24, no firewall.
When prompted to connect to a computer, I open iTunes.
I cannot see a dialog box to enter the code.
Similarly there is no list of Apple TVs in the Prefs (ctrl-,) -> Apple TV Tab
I am suppose to just punch in the code without a dialog box?
I do not see AppleTV listed in the list of devices, but my ipod mini does appear when it is plugged in.
I have resinstalled iTunes 8.2.1 and Rendezvous 1.0.6 more times than I care to mention.
I have done port scans (nmap http://nmap.org/ and fport http://www.foundstone.com/us/resources/proddesc/fport.htm) on both the local WinXP laptop and the Rendezvous service is running on both the Apple TV and the laptop.
I will post the output of the scans later when I get home.

In addition.
Try to refresh the Hardware and Power.
    Remove AC and Battery
          Hold the Power Button down for at least 15 sec. Then Reconnect Everything back
Turn on the Systen and Right away start hitting F2 to load the BIOS Utility
          Inside BIOS hit F9 then Enter for Yes to load defaults
          Hit F10 to Save and Exit then Enter for YES.
now open
    Control Panel / Programs, and uninstall Lenovo Energy Management and restart the system
Then install these
Lenovo Energy Management
Intel Wifi Driver
Press Fn+F5 and see if you will be provided with this window showing the bluetooth..

G470 Bluetooth not listed under Device Manager and not working

Hi,
Can someone teach me how to solve my G470 problem?
Its Bluetooth is not listed under Device Manager and I can't find it anywhere.
Before that, it isn't working at all.

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Can you try the following:
1. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices and check if the Bluetooth device is being listed.

2. If the bluetooth device shows up under the Device Manager, do the following:
a. Under Control Panel > Programs, uninstall the Bluetooth driver/software (reboot if necessary)
b. Run the Bluetooth Driver Installer
- this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, the Bluetooth device and its components should now appear normally under the Device Manager.
If the bluetooth device still doesn't show up, can you provide the model number of your G470 (eg. 59xxxxxx) fur further checking.
Let me know how it goes.

What is the terminal command to list USB devices?

In Ubuntu Linux the command lsusb lists all devices connected to the usb ports. What is the equivalent command in OS-X? Thanks.

If I am able to deactivate or unattach or disable the driver that is responsible for controlling the usb web cam that I have in my Mac mini, the virtualization program (VBox) would be able to capture it (already configured with the appropriate filter) for my guest OS. Now, I only get a message saying that the camera is busy from a previous request.

I would like a LIST of devices that DO have Flash capabilities!

Anyone out there know how to get a list of devices that will run Flash Player? It would be so helpful since I use educational programs that need Flash and when kids ask me if the programs we are using will work on various devices, I am never quite sure. This would be SO helpful! Thanks.

The lines are getting kind of blurry, but when I think about mobile device, I'm thinking about stuff in the phone and tablet spectrum. There are some netbooks that run Flash Player, but if your budget is <$300, ChromeBooks are great bang for the buck.

Laptops are generally fine. If they're running Windows, MacOS or ChromeOS, then you're good. If it looks like a laptop, but it's running Android, that's not going to work. Things get a little weird in Windows 8 and higher. If you have a tablet that runs Windows 8 or higher, it's probably fine for Flash Player, but I'd recommend making sure that the sites you're going to depend on for school work with Internet Explorer 11 before making a big purchase.

QUESTION:
1 MAX always think GPIB-VXI/C and DD42916 as a GPIB device.Why don't they think these devices listed above as a VXI device?
2 Since MAX think DDC42916 as a GPIB device, and DDC42916 supports word serial communication, How can I program with this message-based device by NI-VISA?
I searched for appropriate function in NI-VISA ref manual,but I failed.VXI WSPRotocal COMMand is not suitable here evidently.
3 Then how can I program the other device like register-based device and memory-based device under this circumstance?
4 if slot0 controller changed from GPIB/VXI to 1394/VXI

Executable doesn't show up in programs list

After the installation of my executable it doesn't appear in Windows All Programs list. I built a lot of executable and installers before but it is the first time I see this. The folder is created in the Program Files (x86) directory and the program run well when I double-click on the .exe.
This sw was initially developped with LV10 with WinXP then moved to LV2012 with Win7 64-bit and then to LV2013 and it uses a plugin architecture (I'm still not very familiar with this).
I also have these following questions:
1- I don't remember seeing so many folder created after building an exe (see attached picture "filelist.png") before moving this application to LV2013, why are all these dataX folders created? (related to the plugins?). Except for the data folder that contain my ini and xml configuration files these folders all contain a single mnu file.
2-Why are there some instrument driver folders included in the build? (Agilent, Keithley and Tek) I'm also using other equipments and they don't show up in the build. These caused issues with the build because of their VI tree VIs. I either had to check enable debugging or use the diagram disable structure on these VIs block diagram which is surely not the proper way to do this.
3- Probably the most important, what would be a good reference document on how to build an executable and an installer for a plugin architecture application.

Thanks Norbert, I think I now have an idea why these folders are created. I created a library of utility functions and put it in my user.lib directory a replaced the original functions in the code by these library functions.
I also checked the shortcut section and no exe was was selected, so selecting the main exe solved the issue.
One wonder, will the installation work on a PC that doesn't have the development environment and my utility lvlib?
For information I attached the build folder structure of a previous version (before the use of the userlib).

Depending on what view you have on is where your iPod nano will show up. If it is the new view, then it will be in the right hand corner next the iTunes Store button. If you have the sidebar enabled then it will be where you would expect it. If it is in neither spot, then check out the article below to get it to show up on your computer.

How do I get rid of a yahoo toolbar that keeps popping up and is not on the program list of my computer?

Immediately after I updated my firefox a couple of weeks ago, the browser started to display a yahoo toolbar. At the time my husband took it off using the control panel and add/remove program function on the computer.
since this am, the toolbar has come back up. I did NOT do anything to request it, or put it there. It is not showing up on my program list, I cannot find it when I do a search of my computer. When I went to yahoo help "remove toolbar" the two suggestions were to do that or use the settings button to remove it, but the settings menu on this doesn't have that option, unless maybe I would create an account, log in, and then remove it. I don't really want to do that either.
I don't know where this came from, and don't really trust it. I would like to take it off, but can't seem to figure out how.

I figured it out! Click on the Orange 'Firefox' tab on the upper left hand side of the Firefox browser, Choose 'Options', then deselect 'Yahoo! toolbar'.

Without using iTunes, I want to browse to an Apple website that shows me the list of devices associated with my Apple Id

My primary goal: I want to browse to some Apple website where I have already logged in using my Apple Id and password, and I then want to click a link that will bring me to a page that will show me the Apple Devices that I "own", that are associated with either "me" (whatever that entity Id should be) or with my Apple Id. Most importantly, I want to do this without using iTunes. I have seen my list of devices before on an Apple web page, and it even shows the MAC addresses of the devices. I did not reach this list by using iTunes.
I know for an absolute fact that an Apple Customer Service rep on the phone showed me some trick for viewing all the devices that I had purchased. There was even a device that another person had purchased and then had sold to me, and this Apple rep showed him how to "disown" the device and she then walked me through how I could take over ownership of the same device).
The procedure that she walked me through might not have anything to do with my Apple Id. It might have had to do with some other unique way of identifying myself. I simply cannot remember, and I cannot imagine what that Id would have been. I have searched and searched via Google and every result returned by Google always talks about using iTunes to associate an Apple device with my Apple Id.
My secondary goal: If this is not the appropriate community to which I should have sent this question, all I can say is that it was the closest match that I could find. If no one here can help me achieve my primary goal, can you please suggest another community to which I should post my question?

I was going to rant here about how badly Apple designed their "Apple Id" stuff, how they strongly distinguish between using your Apple Id at the online Apple Store vs. using it at the App Store (which you have to get to via iTunes ... quite ridiculous) ... but I won't. :-)

No, it means you have no information about your phone.
If you enabled Find my iPhone that also enabled Activation Lock. Even if the thief guessed your passcode they still could not disable Find my iPhone without knowing your Apple ID and password. The thief also only gets a limited number of tries to guess your passcode. If you had enabled "erase after 10 failed attempts" then the limit is 10. If you had not then after 10 or so the thief would have to wait before trying more, an the wait would get progressively longer with each failed attempt. So unless you have a really poor choice of passcodes (1111, 1234, etc) your content is reasonably safe.

IPhone 5 not showing up in my list of devices

When I view my list of devices at https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and in iTunes my new iPhone 5 doesn't show up among the devices. I have iTunes match turned on and I am using the same iTunes account information. I'm able to see my purchase history in iTunes on the phone.
So, I tried to add the phone Serial number to under "register and add products". I get the following message:
According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID? Find out.

HP Pavilion dv6000 Webcam no longer even on the list of devices.

Hey, the day i bought my laptop i updated my drivers as my webcam was not working with MSN. i did so and it then stopped working all together.
I forgot about this and now, several months later i went back to try and fix the issue and cant even find the webcam under the list of devices. installing the appropriate driver didnt help either and i was just wonedering if anyone could give me a hand fixing it.

This worked for me. Not sure if it will work for you. Make sure the web cam is showing in the imaging devices in the device manager. Mine was not showing, and I had to I install the vista driver from hp to make it show in the device manager. I had to right click the top of the device manager list and do add legacy hardware. I pointed to the device manually. It then had a big explanation point with a yellow sign device is not working. You might not have to go through what I did if the web cam is showing under the imaging device. I right clicked on the web cam with the yellow explanation point and set it to disable because I think there was a conflict with my drivers. I restared my computer and windows 7 automatically installed a new driver to make the camera work. I have two web cam drivers. One that is disabled and one that works.
I am leaving it that way because it works.
