Programs will not overwrite files.

I attempt to save files, or overwrite files using multiple programs and they will not save as overwrites. They save with (1) behind the original name. Normally this would not be a great issue, but I deal with many files
at a large volume. I deal with .pdf files. Using Adobe Reader, G.I.M.P. 2, PDF24 Creator, and PDF Split and Merge Basic. This problem only began 1 week ago. I have attempted to remedy with malware scans, disk defrag, virus scans and ultimately formatted and
re-installed windows. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks.

  • Render will not overwrite files

I have a project which involves generating a number of unique shake scripts. In ironing out the workflow I've discovered that Shake does not want to overwrite an existing file when I render out. Is there some hidden switch I need to set to force file overwrites? At the moment I'm not rendering with a shell script I am doing it from the gui using render of FileOut nodes.
I know this is the case because if I delete the file in question and then go back and select render the new file is there. If I try to rerender again, shake behaves as if it is rendering (flipbook pops up) but when I go to the directory in question, the old file is still there.

This can happen if the file is in use by another application, like Final Cut.
In that case, quit Final Cut before rendering.
It's nice that Shake doesn't tell you there's a problem.

  • Dreamweaver not overwriting files on the server

I am having the same problem that was mentioned in another post andthe issue has increased in Dreamweaver CS4. It  will not overwrite new files to the server consistently. Even the date  changes in some cases but the old file is still there. It is not a  problem with the server because when I upload them with FETCH everything  works. It is EXTREMELY frustrating and makes the program almost useless  if you can't use this aspect of it. I have checked all the preferences  and can't find anything that is causing this except for that I don't  usually upload the dependent files because they already exist.  What is  the deal? Anyone know?

I have run into something similar on our webserver where the server was caching files. I am not sure how our IT guy fixed it, but I cleared the browser cache, and it still rendered the old page because the server was caching it.

  • TS2518 updated to Aperture 3.4, but program will not open, keeps telling me it needs to restore windows?

I just updated to OS X 10.7.5 and Aperture 3.4, but program will not open, keeps telling me I to restore windows

Quit Aperture, if it is running/ hanging.
Remove the file com.apple.Aperture.plist from the folder
Your home folder  > Library > Preferences
The User Library is hidden by default. You can reveal it from the Finder's "GO" menu:
Finder > Go,   then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences" sub folder and remove the file
    your Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist.
After removing the user preferences file, you will have to reset the Preferences, you selected in Aperture's preferences panel.

  • My iphoto program will not open, I get a message "you have previously used a newer version" open with that

my iphoto program will not open I get a message "you have used a newer program in the past use that program"  I only have the one ???

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I just upgraded to OS 10.8.4 last night and my Office 2011 programs will not work.

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro (early 2011) to OS 10.8.4 last night and my Office for Mac 2011 programs will not work. To test in safe mode, I shut down my computer, restarted in safe mode to see if I could open any of my word or excel documents, which I was able to do.  I restarted, and tried opening an office document (word and excel), which did not work.  Does anyone have a solution to this?  I cannot revert back to OS 10.8.3 because I did not use Time Machine.  Any help will be appreciated.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; } | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • I need to install version 22 - nothing higher until 27 is available as my payroll program will not run. How do I install version 22 and not the most recent ver

I need to install version 22. This is under the guidance of my payroll provider. The program will not work until version 27 comes out. I do not need help solving the problem with the payroll program, I just want to install version 22 of Firefox.

Firefox 27.0 is in Beta at moment until February 4 release.
You would be better off trying to use wither the User Agent Switcher extension or ua-site-switch extension to try a fool this one site or to use the portable Firefox 22.0 just for this one site.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ua-site-switch/
You should not switch to using 22.0 only due to known potential vulnerabilities that is fixed in newer versions like the current Fx 26.0.
The Portable Firefox is a self contained program as it will not interfere with your current Firefox 26.0 install. It can even be used completely on a usb flash drive. http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20Portable%20Ed./Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20Portable%20Edition%2022.0/ and pick your language.
I posted a ink to portable Firefox 22.0 as their homepage currently only links to the current 26.0 and 24.2.0esr on http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

  • What is the problem with the latest update of Firefox - 30. I have tried the update 4 times (Win 7 Pro ) Program will not start under conditions?

Uninstall and re-install the old version and everything is hunky dory?
Well apart from informing me that there is an update available.
    Many thanks :)

  • Can not overwrite files on windows server

we use a mac mini with os x 10.6.2. when trying to save files to a windows server it will not overwrite the files. we have to save using a new name then delete the original file and rename the new one back to the desired name. can not figure out why. any ideas?

  • DW will not upload files!

    Hello all!
I am having trouble with DW uploading files through FTP. I
    can upload a new
file and all is fine, but when I try to upload a file that
    already exists
( a file on the remote server that I have updated and then
    uploaded), DW
will not overwrite the existing file on the server.
It comes up with a box and tells me that the file on the
    server is newer and
do I want to overwrite it and I click YES TO ALL, but it
    still doesnt
    overwrite the server file.
How does this happen and how do I fix it?
    Please help!

Does the timestamp on the remote file change?

thanks chris for the reply back,i have solved the massive problem i have had with MF 3.6.3 it ws COMODO FREE FIREWALL i had a sneaking suspicion all a long it could have been that but was not sure?,my pc had slowed down since installing comodo i am pretty sure of that, there were lags and pauses ect ect on general usage of the pc even though cpu usage was ok?,so maybe if many pc users that have comodo firewall installed they might like to try a change to another firewall and see if it helps,i went back to OUTPOST FREE FIREWALL which i had for ages without ANY problems whatsoever.

Thank you for your suggestions. I downloaded a more recent version of Twain, but this didn't help. I also tried closing and opening Photo Shop and restarting my computer without success. Reinstalling Photo Shop sounds like a very promising solution, but I'm  not sure I will do it. In the meantime I can scan items using a printer program. These scans open in Photo Shop. It is an extra step.
