Progress Monitor OR Progress Bar.........Please help

I have a JFrame with a menu. As soon as I click the menu I am adding a panel to the JFrame which takes some time. To indicate this to the user should I use the Progress Bar or the progress monitor.
In either case how do I use it?
Thanks in advance and it would be very useful if someone could give a small skeleton code.

I am having the same problem which you had with the progress bar.
I have a DesktopPane with Menu Bar on the top and Internal Frames get added to the DesktoopPane according to the Menu Item selected and the Internal frame takes time to open I want to show the progress bar. I thing you have got the solution by this time.
Has anybody else have the solution for the above. Basically i want to show the time taken by the classes to load a Internal frame using Progress Bar. Please send me the piece of code. Thanks in Advance.

IOS updates can take awhile, but if you have multiple applications open or a older compter it will slow the process.

Ajax progress bar, please help

I have read the Ajax progress bar example, but I still don't know how to create my own task thread.
If I have two new different tasks such as task1 and task2, should these classes extend the SimpleTask class, and override the run() method?
In addition, if I would like to get input from TextField for task1 or task2, how can I do that? What do I need to do in the SessionBean1? I mean that the SimpleTask can be instantiated in the SessionBean1 without any problem because it does not take any input from the Form. However, if my new task needs some inputs from the Form, how can I do that in the SessionBean1?
Finally, do I have to have two different sets of startOrResumeTask(), pauseTask() and stopTask() for each different task? The reason is that in the startOrResumeTask(), the task is casted to SimpleTask.

to do a
preloader. Never use those horrible on methods, like
onClipEvent, those are
just bad and never necessary. Nutshell: make a new movie - a
preloader -
make a new empty clip within it and give it an instance name
of 'content'.
Put this code on frame 1, in a script layer:

What I do is have all of my content movies have an activate()
function, and
I call that within onLoadInit to 'start' the content. Maybe
you want content
to fade in once it's loaded - give content an alpha of 0
within your loader
movie, and then within onLoadInit start a tween to fade it
in, or simply set
it's alpha to 100, to have it appear once loaded. Lots of
options.

Progress bar - please help

Hi there,
I have desperately trying to solve a problem with a progress
bar in my animation. I have got a button on my progress bar which
shows at what stage the animation is. I would like to have the
button controlling the animation in the way that I could drag it to
any place on progress bar and the animation would move to this
place. I am attaching the source code, so I hope it would be much

You have to connect the iPad to your computer to update.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The usual results of posting etrecheck output on this site without a full description of the problem are very poor.
The many "failed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews mean nothing. Those warnings are not a reason to reinstall the OS, or to do anything else at all. They should be ignored.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

The ability to use AirPlay is BOTH an OS requirement(Mountain Lion) AND has hardware requirements. You need to check and see if your 2010 Air will support Airplay.

Job submitted-"Unknown Time Remaining" with no progress. Please help!

This is driving me crazy. I can't figure it out.
I submit a job, I get the message "unknown time remaining" with no progress in the progress bar. Nothing happens.
I am using an iMac.
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB
Version 10.5.8
Compressor 3
Movie is exported to my desktop from FCP as a Quicktime file. I am using current settings. Audio and video included. Self contained. DV NTSC 48KHz Anamorphic 720x480
The setting I choose is H.264 800Kbps Quicktime 7 compatible. In the inspector under geometry I choose custom (16:9). Destination is desktop.
When I submit, it shows in history but never does anything. Just get that message.

Need progress bar component help.

I have a huge headache from doing hours of web searching for
what seems to be a simple solution. All I want to do is use the
progress bar component on frame one to load my main timeline and I
can't find a tutorial for this anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks in

You can use the progress bar Component as a preloader of
sorts, but this doesn't work very well within the same document.
The best way to go about doing this is to create a 'loading' swf
file, that is the same size as the swf your main swf, then make an
empty MC and load the swf into it and you can then use the progress
bar Component to display the loading (or any number of other visual
indicators) loading is best done using the MovieClipLoader class,
where you can use it's event handlers and methods to effect the
progress indicator, however the pbar Component has these handler
built in as well so in this case for simplicity I'll use the
loadMovie method (I rarely do) So with a swf the same size as the
one you want to load, place a pbar instance on the stage with the
instance name of 'my_pb', and create an 'actions' layer and add
this code to the first frame:

I've stayed with Safari-4 BETA where I was able to restore the blue progress bar via a terminal command. Thank goodness... I've asked twice via "bug report" to re-institute the blue progress bar, I mean couldn't they just make it an option like TWEAK did?

Monitor for Macbook Pro, Please help!!!

I have a middle 2009 Macbook Pro, and want to connect an external monitor as primary monitor. My budget is around 300-400, and hope to find a relatively perfect one in that price range. I'm really care about brightness, and don't like dim/dark ones. I mainly use the monitor to watch movies and play a few games. 27 inch would be perfect....well, if it has to be smaller.

What if I don't what 2 displays and I only want to support the external monitor? Can I be in extended mode and have only 1 display?
The reason why I ask is because I am going to buy a dock for my MacBook (2012). The dock forces the MacBook to close thereby rendering the internal display useless.
I think what I am after is some sort of "extended to external" mode.

Images Not Showing- Menu Bar- Please Help

Hi, I have built a menu bar in fireworks cs4 and I have exported the file in html. I have a template all ready to go in dreamweaver and I am trying to add this menu bar to it. The html doc opens in dreamweaver fine when I right click on the file and open with dreamweaver. The issue is when I insert it into dreamweaver, the images are missing. In dreamweaver I go to insert and then Image Objects and then FIreworks HTML. It inserts the file but the images of the menu are not there. Can anyone please help? Thanks so much in advance!!

I figured it out.
I just had to move the foler and exported it again and it works now.

Blue startup screen stops @ blue bar, please help

Hello, I woke up to my 17" pb (os 10.4) and the screen was black unix style. I figured I would restart and everything would be fine. When I restarted I got to the blue screen with the blue bar. The bar goes all the way but stops there. I started in Single User Mode and ran fsck and it comes back drive "ok". I can't start in safe mode, it hangs at the same place. I can start it in "target mode" using another mac and my files are all there. I have install disks and after I get to choose "english" the message "you can not use this disk on this computer"
Please help I have got to my wits end.

Try Repairing Disk Permissions from the Tiger Install DVD... for that...
1) Insert the Install DVDs in DVD ROM and Restart your Mac
2) While Booting Hold down the C Key
3) After the Boot Select your Appropriate Language
4) Dont Continue the Installation Window
5) On the *Top Menu Bar* Select Utilities>Disk Utilities, This will open the Disk Utilities Windows with List of Drives attached
6) Select the System Drive and Click the Tab First Aid,
7) Click the Verify Disk Button. If this Gives some Errors then Click Repair Disk.
8) After Repair Disk Click Verify Disk Permissions. On Errors Click Repair Disk Permissions and Repeat the Process Until there is NO Error...
9) Quit Disk Utility and Quit the Installation Process.
10) Cancel, Restart & Shutdown will be Offered. Click Restart
11) Boot the System Normally.

Bridge horizontal divider bar- please help

Ok, this is driving me crazy - In Bridge CS2 my horizontal divider bar disappeared from the left side of my panes - I like to have Favorites and Folders on top and Preview and Metadata on bottom - but for some strange reason I can not find the horizonal divider bar - now they are all on top - please help a confused soul!!

Do you have the training CD that came with CS3? There is a 3 min. video on rearranging the panes and building your own worksheet. You can move panes and resize them by using the double headed arrow just like any other window.
Can also view training videos on Adobe website I believe.
