Progressive exporting

Hello everybody,
When we export movies using Compressor in FCP (For Quicktime 7 and MPEG2 files), we always get an interlaced export. Is there any "right" way to make it export as a progressive file. We're doing digital distribution only and don't care about any progressive support.
The source DV files are in progressive. I also recall that back in the day of using Premiere, it always exported as a progressive file.
Anyone help?

The lines that I was talking about are these:

I don't have the DV footage with me right now, but the image is smooth smooth on the initial DV files. There are no interlaced artifacts nor lines like these.

  • HD 30p (progressive) export presets for download here

    Hello
    A couple of days ago I asked about exporting HD  1920 x 1080  (and also 1280 x 960) in progressive mode. All the full HD presets in PrE 8 are interlaced.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/645628?tstart=30
    Thanks to AT Romano guidance, I created all the export presets I needed, which I provide here for download, if anybody wants them.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U7IMK7NA
    You have to un-zip them and put them here
    C:\Documents and Settings\your-username\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Elements\8.0\SC\Presets\PC\MPEG\HD
    There are 2 MP4 presets (H.264 + AAC) and 2 MPEG2 presets:
    HD MP4 1280x960 30p.epr
    HD MP4 1920x1080 30p.epr
    HD MPEG2 1280x960 30p.epr
    HD MPEG2 1920x1080 30p.epr

    I have one questions concerning these. I am running Windows 7 64bit with PE8, Where should I put unzip these files too?
    the directory you described:
    C:\Documents and Settings\your-username\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Elements\8.0\SC\Presets\PC\MPEG\HD
    does not exist on my computer.
    I tried to look and see if I had any comparable folders but i'm not finding them.
    Anyone have any idea where a Windows 7 user can unzip these brilliant life-saving files too?
    thanks!

  • FCP Item Properties (Progressive) - exported File (Interlaced) - how?

    Item properties of my XDCAM EX clips areProgressive (as expected - they were shot that way)
    (Field Dominance - None).
    But if I export a clip from my (field dominance - None) timeline . . .
    Whether I choose Uncompressed QT, PNG or JPEG - they all come out (Field Dominance - Upper).
    PNG was the only export that gave me a choice - I chose "None" for Field Dominance and it still came out "Upper".
    Is it me, or what?

    you might try using compressor to do the conversion and see if that makes any difference.
    I exported ProRes 422 using compressor and that was progressive - but at the time I was trying to export a file that someone with a PC could examine. They can't handle ProRes but they seem to be able to use PNG, JPEG or Uncompressed QT.
    All of these were interlaced!
    (Curious).
    The moment has passed now because I was looking for a way to get good quality SD from XDCAM EX footage.

  • Export progress initialising

    I have just upgraded to QT Pro for the purpose of exporting .avi video to my iPod. Whenever I start the export, it opens a a progress box and then appears to do nothing else. The progress bar remains blank and the text underneath says 'initialising'. I've left it running for several hours, and tried various file sizes, but nothing seems to work. Can someone please give me a clue what to do next, or advise on what the problem might be....

  • Document Export from WSS_Content 2013

    I have a WSS_Content database that I was able to recover from a crashed 2013 SharePoint server.  I would like to export all of the documents so that they can be added back into a new server.  After trying many of the examples online, I stumbled
    on the shredded storage changes for 2013.  I would like to know if there is a way for me to export the documents through code as I was able to do in the past?
    I am not sure how to determine which records in the DocStreams table need to be used and how I should put the stream back together from the pieces.  Are there header bytes on each stream?  Is there a document defining the structure?  Is there
    a stored proc or udf that I could leverage to put the stream back together?
    Thanks,
    Randy

    I tried to recover through Central Admin and I am getting this error during export.  Is there a way to skip the files that error?

  • HELP I chose SD project preset instead of source material's HD and I have finished editing, can I change this?

    So I have been working on this music video for a long time. I finished yesterday and today I tried to export the video. It had this strange black box around it and the quality was bad.
    A little digging showed that the whole time my project presets were for some reason 640x480 SD instead of the 1920x1080 HD of my source video clips, so even if I tried to export in 16:9 HD, stretched 4:3 SD was the maximum quality I could get! The editing is very complex with lots of quick cuts, so there's no way I'm re-doing the whole thing, and I've already tried copying and pasting everything in the timeline to another project with the correct presets, and that doesn't work. Is there ANY way to fix this situation? I'm not too worried about transitions, if I lose those in the process it wouldn't really matter, but I want to save all my quick timed cuts between clips. I am using Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 7 64-bit. The source material is AVCHD 1920x1080p and a mix of 30p and 60p, and I want the final video to be the same but all 30p.
    Thanks for reading and I really hope to solve this issue,
    Ben.

    Ben
    Thanks for the update. Sorry that the new project was necessary. You did well making the transition from problem project to new.
    However, you may have gotten into some trouble with your export settings. But, at least that can be corrected in the export of the new project and should not require starting from the beginning in yet another project. I am suspecting that your export is 1920 x 1080i 29.97 "M2T AVCHD" instead of 1920 x 1080p 29.97 "M2T AVCHD".
    You appear to have used Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with the M2T H264 1920 x 1080p24. If you say that your export is 1920 x 1080 29.97, then you would have had to go under the Advanced Button of the p24 preset to customize the preset to 29.97 instead of 24.
    But, now for the unexpected under that preset....if you use Frame Rate 24 frames per second, you have progressive settings. But, if you change the Frame Rate to 29.97 under the Advanced Button of the preset, you have interlaced settings. In the latter, note the fields for Upper or Lower for Field Order. That is interlaced video. Interlace video has fields, progressive video does not. And, if you do the export and read the properties of the export using a properties read out program, you confirm interlace and not progressive export. Confirm in project....
    Can you use the MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30 preset instead?
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Media Encoder fails with Time Remapping

    There is a single 1 Minute Clip in the PR CC 2014 timeline, with some time remapping effects. Exporting with Media Encoder CC 2014 SLOWS DOWN speed of the clip after approx. 30 sec unintentionally and therefore gets out of sync with sound, and ends at a complete different frame than in the timeline.
    However, exporting directly from PR CC 2014 gives correct result.
    Anyway, this looks like a major "feature" of ME!?!
    (MacBook Pro 2013, 15", 2,6 GHz i7, OS X 10.9.4)

    source is an uncompressed HD 1080 QT .mov file rendered from AE.
    sequence settings are 1920x1080, 25fps, square, progressive
    export settings are QT, H.264, 1920x1080, 25fps, progr, square, 20000kbps

  • Why does De-interlacing looks better with MPEG StreamClip?

    For our client we need to render 1080i for TV and 1080p for WEB. After creating graphics in AE we add final touch and audio in PR.
    If we make it progressive in PR (CC2014.1) the zoom in the packshot does not look good.
    However if we make the 1080i ProRes progressive in MPEG Streamclip the zoom does look great.
    How is it possible a freeware swiss army-knife makes a better progressive export than commercial software?
    Or is there something we do wrong?

  • Swing actionPerformed behaviour

    I have a problem:
    I've made a JFrame with a JProgressBar in to show the progress of some file operations. I can use this class ok in a "normal" method, but as soon as I move this into a actionPerformed method (for a button) it doesn't seem to work. I've checked a little more into this and I also can't get any "sequential" output to System.out. I always get all the output at ones when the actionPerformed method terminates.
    How can I solve this problem? or isn't this possible because of some basic way the events are dealt with?
    (I can post some code if you don't understand my problem)
    thanks in advance
    Peter

    ok, I have this Progress class, which is basically just a JFrame with a JProgressBar in it (I've removed some of the unimportant code to make it clearer):
    public class Progress extends JFrame {
    JProgressBar jProgressBar1 = null;
    public void setValue(int i) {jProgressBar1.setValue(i); }
    public Progress(int min, int max) {
    try {
    jProgressBar1 = new JProgressBar(min,max);
    jProgressBar1.setValue(0);
    jbInit();
    catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
    private void jbInit() throws Exception {
    jProgressBar1.setStringPainted(true);
    this.getContentPane().add(jProgressBar1, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    protected void processWindowEvent(WindowEvent e) {
    super.processWindowEvent(e);
    if (e.getID() == WindowEvent.WINDOW_CLOSING) {
    System.exit(0);
    And then I have my "main" frame in which I use this progress bar the first time from the constructor, which works ok. This main frame also has some buttons which fire actions, which take some time, so I wanted to add the progress bar there too (in the actionperformed code of those buttons) but that didn't work (the frame is shown, but no progress bar).
    I use the Progress class like this:
    Progress progressBar = new Progress("exporting data", 0, size);
    int pos=0;
    progressBar.setVisible(true);
    while( .... ) { // lenghty loop that is executed "size" times
    progressBar.setValue(pos++);
    progressBar.dispose();
    I have almost exactly the same code in the initialization and in one of the buttons actions, however it only works for the first one. The only major difference is that the initialization reads a file, while the button actions write files. Could this be the problem? Or have I just missed something?
    I hope this is enough info, feel free to ask more.

  • Unwanted visual artifacts with mastered DVD

    My mastered DVD has unwanted visual artifacts resulting from a video recording of a dance recital that contained taped markings on a stage floor   This visual disturbance does not appear with raw footage or compressed file but only with mastered DVD.  Tried changing field order with each subsequent build but still get wavy lines that fluctuate.  Any one dealt with similar situation before?  Any suggestions?

    We had the same issues with artifacts which appeared wavy, especially during fast movements.  We read several forums and attempted different methods with no results to solve the issue.  Finally, we discovered a solution!
    We use Adobe Premiere CC and 6.
    Recorded footage AVCHD 1080i
    AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)
    Make sure you have your footage in the correct editing sequence setting.
    When exporting the auto settings appeared to compress the footage in interlace format which made artifacts on the screen on a progressive TV.
    In Premiere Export in MPEG2 (Not MPEG2-DVD)
    Select HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality (Or the format you recorded at but select P for progressive)
    Export your video.
    Afterwards import into Encore or your DVD authoring program.
    Unfortunately, if your using Premiere with the dynamic link option to connect from Premiere to Encore there's a known bug that prevents from fixing this issue.
    For an average dance recital the compressed file should be larger than the 4.7GB DVD size but once imported into Encore the program should allow the footage to fit onto the DVD. Otherwise, depending on your program you may need to change your export compressing settings to allow for the video to fit.

  • AVCHD interlaced sequence export to progressive (h.264) with Premiere Pro CS5.

    Hi !
    I have searched everywhere on the web (and this forum) for an appropriate answer.
    Here is the problem :
    I have used AVCHD (upperfields first / square pixels / 1080i30(i60)) footages to make a movie.
    The primary sequence settings are correct :
    AVCHD 1080i30(i60) square pixels
    The files play fine in Premiere, and the montage was flawless in high 1080i quality.
    I have exported 5 seconds of the movie into raw "AVI Microsoft uncompressed" files, so I can import them in "After Effects" to had some texts and graphics. When done, I re-imported them into the Premiere's sequence. (same AVI uncompressed format).
    Playback works fine. The movie looks great and flawless, and has no interlacing artifact.
    HOWEVER : When I want to export this sequence into a MPEG H.264 progressive final file, there is some gerkiness on the parts where the "AVI" files were added.
    It looks as if it had been interlaced, when the rest of the movie looks ok.
    When I'm in the exporting window, I can see the "Source" and "Output" display.
    "Source" looks fine and "Output" looks gerky.
    I have tried to create a new progressive sequence, into which I imported my main AVCHD sequence (with some progressive footages in it). To no avail !... I had heard that this could work but it's not.
    I looked in the "Output" window while trying all the possible codec formats (and field orders), to no avail.
    UNTIL !! I checked the key : "Make Sequence settings match" that is on top of the exporting window.
    The image in the "Output" window became clear. However, all the settings below the checked key were now locked.
    Producing a file with this format (it seems it is a MPEG2 / upperfield first, the same format that is used for Preview files) can render a file that has all it's field and image quality aligned.
    By unchecking the "Make sequence match" key, I was able to create my own settings of MPEG2 "upperfield" that still interpretes the movie correctly.
    But it's not the MPEG H.264 progressive file that I want. I have to re-render it with a third party software to get a H.264(p) out of a MPEG2(i).
    Is there something I should check or try to be able to export my movie in H.264 directly ?
    Thank you!
