Progressive speed down/speed up

Is progressive speed up and speed down possible in Audition? How do I do this? I can only do speed up/ down but not a progressive one. If what I'm saying is vague, what I want to do is that the sound file will slowly slow down and speed up again after a few seconds. Thanks in advance!

Do you want to preserve pitch and just change the tempo?  Or are you after something like a turntable slowing down then speeding up again?
If the latter, have a look at Effects/Time and Pitch/Pitch Bender.
If it's the first option, then I don't know of a way to do this but I'm sure others will be along with advice.

  • Speed Ramping

    I want a clip to progressively slow down as the clip ends, I also want it to start slowing down from a point at which i can choose, Anyways I can do this?  Basically Im a new user to Adobe Premiere Pro as it is much better than Sony Vegas and I'm just having some speed issues, like in the question I just want a clip to begin slowing down near the end of its length although I dont know how to do that. Time Remapping slows down the entire clip and i have used Time Remapping to slow down the clip but i want the clip to get progressively slower towards the end starting from a specific point, any help?

  • Exporting variable speed slo mo to Motion for optical flow, how?

    Greetings,
    I have FCP 7 and Motion 4. I am new to using Motion. I want to either export a variable speed clip from FCP to Motion and add the optical flow feature, or build a variable speed change in Motion, but I can't figure out how to do either!
    The 20 second clip is in reverse-slow-mo, and progressively gets slower (from -38% to -4%) as set in FCP using keyframes. When I "send" the clip & it opens in Motion, the in-out points aren't recognized, (the whole unedited clip shows up) and when I set the timing to "variable" in the inspector, (under "timing", for time remap) the clip disappears in the timeline altogether.
    I've also tried to create a QT of the clip as 100% but in reverse (just to have less to build in Motion) but I cannot figure out how on earth to use the graph in Motion (under time remap, variable speed) to create a variable speed change to progressively slow down. This is the key issue for me-- how to create variable speed change in Motion??
    I tried one other thing in Motion, the "add behavior", and added "Speed Change", couldn't figure out this method either-- how to make clip progressively slow down, and also how to apply the optical flow to that speed change (seems optical flow only works with time remap method?) Any help would be greatly appreciate.
    AKJ

    Although it does occur, the media isn't ALWAYS mangled... did you try workflow 1 above?
    As far as I can tell from your description, baking the speed change in before sending to Motion is not going to work as the clip will already be retimed.
    I agree, changing versions mid project is a bad idea. When faced with this recently, I bought a $50 500gb hard drive, installed Leopard and the new version of Final Cut Studio onto it, booted into that drive, opened up a COPY of my project in the FCP7 and did what I needed.
    I found no issues, so just continued in FCP7. However, if I did find issues, I would have done only what I needed the new version for, then rebooted back into the drive with FCP6, opened my original project, then imported the results.

  • I just bought a Macbook Pro 13inch and the download speed is super slow! Why??

    I bought a Macbook Pro 13inch 750gb laptop and i'm trying to download the updates it say's I need and it is taking way longer than I've ever had a computer download, why is it so slow? Is something wrong with my new laptop? My frist Macbook Pro from 2007 is faster than this crap! What's up with that?
    I even have it connected through ethernet to the internet and it say's download time: 7 to 8 hours and never gets anywhere, i've been trying all day

    We recently changed our internet because it was previously too slow but this one seems even worse. It's progressively slowing down more and more.
    Example: When watching Netflix on my Wii and surfing the web via Computer the Nexflix will go down or have to reload. I'm going to have to call Centurylink because this is rediculous. Maybe it's the area our house is located? Or I hope nobody has cracked my internet and is using it without permission...
    I'm glad to know it's not my new Mac. (Because i'd have a hissy fit if it was.)
    But I still feel like my previous Macbook Pro was a tad faster, which doesn't make sense, right...?

  • OT: Need a plug to progressively slow audio

    Scoring a film, have a source track (song playing out of the car radio) which I need to progressively slow down over the course of about 6 seconds. Is there a plug that will do this?

    Wow, you guys are really great for providing all of these suggestions! deepswing, tyVm for offering to burn a CD, though I got the effect I wanted using appleloops and putting in a tempo change curve. John, I just downloaded the amazing slowdowner (ty for that). Very cool, and less work than having to make appleloops.
    You guys rock!

  • Export progress bar speeds to 50% then slows way down

    While I'm here browsing for answers to another question I just asked, thought I would ask another one about a project I worked on at home...
    Home computer specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64
    AMD Phenom II 6-core 3.2ghz processor (overclocked to 4ghz)
    16gb 1600mhz RAM
    Nvidia GTS 450
    Plenty of hard drive space, all 7200rpm internal
    So my problem is with exporting...  I was working with a 30 minute wmv file...and really all I did as far as editing goes...was cut off about 5 minutes from the beginning.  That's it.  No graphics, no effects...nothin.
    So I proceed to export it as a wmv, I used stock settings because I honestly didn't care about the quality, I just wanted it done fast.  Estimated file size was less than 100mb I think...  The export process began
    and speedily finished 50% of it in about 10 seconds and then slows to a crawl, where the time remaining was now going up 1 second at a time instead of down.  By how slow it was going, it was probably going to
    take about a half hour, which is bs for exporting to a crappy file type with low quality settings.  My work comp has lower specs than this computer, and it exports 30 minutes of my avchd footage in the same amount
    of time...
    This seems like Premiere has an issue with certain file types here.
    Any help?

    yah i was thinking the same thing, the 2 pass is what is causing your timing dilemma, 50% was just the first pass analysis. The rest is the real rendering process.
    Being crappy video with a crappy codec has nothing to do with speed, if anything it is going to make it slower. You didn't say how long it actually took to render out your video? With WMV i am guessing it is not multithreaded well and not using all 6 of your cores. try turning off maximum quality on your encoder and check your wmv settings, it is just a container and gives you lots of codec choices. it certainly is not the fastest thing out there but it appears you are being forced to use it anyways?

  • Can't erase (external) harddrive (always stalls at same-ish point)

    Hi guys,
    I'm trying to erase my external USB harddrive in order to set it up with encryption.
    However, this first (kinda basic) step fails, erasing the harddrive...
    Well, I tried different commands:
    shred -v /dev/sdc1
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc1
    # trying to speed up things
    dd ibs=1048576 obs=1048576 if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc1
    # speed up a lil more
    dd ibs=104857600 obs=104857600 if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc1
    However, no matter which command I use or for how many hours I wait, it doesn't seem to get past erasing the first 63GBs (my harddrive is ~500GB). E.g. the shred command starts out fine (speed as expected), but progressively slows down more and more until it reaches 63GBs. And it was at 63GBs for about 2.5 hours before I eventually killed the process. And with dd it was a similar story. Whenever I checked the progress it didn't get beyond 63GBs, even with the increased ibs and obs values.
    What's going on here, why can't I erase the harddrive? I also reformatted the harddrive (using gparted) as ext3, but that didn't change anything...
    Anybody an idea what's going on here?
    Cheers

    Oh, I'm running Arch 64Bit...
    Edit:
    I wasn't sure where to post it, since I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or aplication problem...?

    May I suggest a "tool box" such as "Parted Magic":
    http://partedmagic.com/doku.php
    or
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/partedmagic/
    On the desktop you will find "Partition Editor" (GParted) to erase the hard drive's partitions & from the device heading create a new partition table.
    I would also suggest using "Disk Health" (GSmartControl) to give the hard drive a once over in case your issue is a failed/failing sector (been there!).
    If all is good, then also on the desktop is "Disk Eraser" for multiple ways (including dd) to erasing the hard drive.
    Then of course go back to GParted to give the hard drive a new partition table & partitions.
    In Parted Magic's menu is "TrueCrypt" for your encryption.
    There is a x64 Parted Magic available & can be used for chrooting into a bricked x64 system.
    With Firefox available you can also get online to find a solution to a bricked system (been there too!).

  • Slowdown in opening folders

    I'm running OS X 10.4.8 on a Macbook with the latest firmware update. Recently I've noticed that the speed with which folders open, whether in Finder or in File/Open in various programs or in Transmit has progressively slowed down. For instance, after a restart today, I recorded the following:
    Folder 1 - 14.4 MB - 993 items - 6 seconds to open in Finder
    Folder 2 - 105.1 MB - 2433 items - 37 seconds to open in Finder
    Folder 3 - 36.2 MB - 562 items - 1 second to open in Finder
    Documents Folder - 52.4MB - 222 items - 2 seconds to open in Finder
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    These are general instructions and should apply to both PPC and Intel-based Macs. Stop when the problem's fixed.
    1. Disk Utility->Repair Permissions
    2. Create a new admin user account, log into it
    3. Boot with the install disk, Disk Utility->Repair Disk
    4. Run the Apple Hardware Test program (if there's one for your machine)
    5. Reinstall latest COMBO update
    6. Reinstall the OS using the Archive & Install option, saving user and network settings.

  • Settings to use with 29.97 mixed with 23.976 in same timeline?

    Hi everyone,
    I just finished a short project which was mostly 24p (23.976) but had a few shots which were 29.97 interlaced.  I edited it on a 24p timeline (I dragged the 24p clip to the "new timeline" icon to get started.  I then had a few clips which I wanted to include but were 29.97.  I followed Andrew Kramer's tutorial on frame-rate conversion and got outstanding results converting the 29.97 to 23.976 which dropped right into my timeline.
    Was this an ideal way to work with mixed frame rates (progressing and interlaced, not just different progressive speeds)?  I've read that the output should determine the final rendering which in my case will most always be DVD.  I've been reading about the 24p Pulldown which looked like it might be easier to just use an interlaced timeline with the pull down on the 24p clips but then I've also read that there are 24p and 24pa clips that are different.  Am I making this more complicated than it really is?
    Thanks,
    -Stephen

    Hi Jim, Thanks for replying.  It's all HD.  This particular project was mostly Panasonic AVCHD 29.97 footage.  The few clips I decided to add were from a Canon t2i shot at 24p.  Of course if I intend to mix them they should match but in case I run into this again I thought I better ask what the workflow should be.

  • MBP (early 2009) won't wake from Display Sleep

    My MBP has started to not wake from Display Sleep (the machine is not sleeping, only the display). The only way to get it back is to force power off by holding the power button down.
    The weird thing is, when I power it on, it shows the 'loading RAM from disk' progress bar down the bottom of the all grey screen, as if the battery ran out. But I have it connected to a power source. Once it loads the RAM, the screen goes blank and it hangs. Another force restart and it boots to the login screen as per normal.
    One thing I have noticed is that when this all happens (ie, when I try to wake it and nothing happens) the fans are on about medium speed and its very warm, as if there is some process thats causing high CPU usage and preventing the display waking. I usually have a few browsers open, iTunes, etc, nothing out of the ordinary.
    I might try connecting via screen sharing next this happens to see if its responsive over the network -- i'll post my findings here.
    I have screen saver with password protection turned on, and its connected to an external apple display.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Try a SMC reset.

  • Wireless printing to HP CM1017 very slow

    Hi, I need some help please.
    Printers: HP Color Laserjet CM1017 and HP 5100 connected to Win 7 (32Bit)Server via USB.
    Problem: When printing pdf docs directly form the server, the "progress" (Adobe preparing the docs to print) is quick(seconds) but, when printing from any workstation(connection by WiFi to the server) it takes a very long time (about 5 mins)to "prepare" print. When printing from any workstation to the HP 5100, the "progress" speed is good(seconds).
    The same docs print "progress" is fast(seconds) to another printer (HP C6183), not connected to the server but, direct wireless.
    So, to sum up.
    1. the document is not the problem(does same with other docs)
    2. the Adobe Reader is not the problem(tried different versions)
    3. the workstation is not the problem, as it does the same on all with different Adobe versions and O/S's.
    4. the "progress"(preparation for printing) is fast when printing from server connected directly via USB
    5. printing to the HP5100 from a workstation, uses the same route(WiFi to Server, Server via USB to Printer) and the "progress" is fast.
    Question: Why is the print "progress" so slow when using the same route, but to another printer on the same server?

    Hi Bluechip123,
    try to check your printing preferences. if Quality of print is set as 'BEST', printer becomes too slow when printing documents.

  • [SOLVED] Emacs scroll acceleration

    I've noticed that the Arch install of Emacs includes many "built-in" packages that aren't default on other distros.
    Whenever I scroll using the mouse wheel, the scrolling will accelerate based on how quickly I'm scrolling. I haven't seen this behavior in any other application on my system.
    I tried searching through the Emacs packages to find the cause, but there doesn't seem to be anything related to it.
    Advice?
    -- slightly irrelevant below this line --
    I'm a (g)Vim user currently, and I've gotten used to the way I can scroll the same distance with the same physical motion (same distance traveled on the mouse wheel) at different speeds and get the same result. Makes looking back and forth very easy. The acceleration is really annoying, and it's one of the few things preventing me from even considering Emacs as an editor.

    'C-h v mouse-wheel-progressive-speed', click customize and toggle it off. This option is also explained in the emacs manual. Just search for the word "wheel".

    I take out the battery, plug it in the power. Charging light turns on.
    I press the power button, power led turns on. Followed by the hdd led turn on, which blinks real quick, stays on for 1 second, then turns of. The power led stays on during all the time.
    2 seconds after the power button, a fan starts blowing, while the above mention hdd led blinks for 1 second, 2 seconds after the fan starting to blow, it turns off.
    We are now 4 seconds farther, pretty much, everything stopts, except a very tiny minor humming sound. (I just left it on for a couple minutes, sound remains, nothing happens.) (While writing this all I left it on for 10 minutes, the laptop heats op a bit, the adapter gets hotter, but still only the very tiny minor humming sound.)
    +So my laptop works for 4 seconds, wont give any screen (black screen) wont load even BIOS. What could be wrong ?+
    _*Fixing?:*_
    Ok so I left the laptop after a couple of months, being told it was dead, just getting it dusty. (Read history to get this)
    But since last week, I figured its getting dusty, I never opened a laptop before, why wont I try doing that.
    _+*I replaced the Memory modules, Slot A and B , both memories , same time, one at a time, all possible ways.*+_
    _+*Since I have only 1 HDD, I used it in both slots. Looks to no difference. Using NO HDD, I do NOT have the very tiny minor humming sound!!!*+_
    I followed a guide [http://www.irisvista.com/tech/] to open my laptop, to see what is inside.
    Finding no lose plugs, but did find a certein oil, and some white paste.
    Closing the laptop, to try it out, I accidently screwed a couple wrong screws in the laptop, piercing the top cover of my laptop, but no chips were hit during this :P (Yeah, Im a bit to strong, I should have figured using force for a couple of the screws wasnt the best thing I could do, but now i know :p)
    *SOOO* My question, while I wait for the extra old HDD (getting it in 2 days). (Probably making no difference)
    What could be wrong, more precisly. Should I like try taking out the video card or something ?
    Is there something I should do with some soldering?
    Any tips/tricks that could work, wether to fix the laptop, or to narrow down the problem , to a small part which i could replace ?

    _*History:*_
    Not sure if this is any important, but just to let you know, if intrested what happend all to the laptop ;)
    I bought the laptop at Shape Computers (in the netherlands) Asking this laptop mentioned above, with 2 things changed. I wanted more Memory, and I wanted windows XP. The shop told me this was possible. They bought me the laptop in, they replaced the Memory with the kingston memories. They installed windows XP instead of the Vista. They laptop did work at this very moment. So I bought the working laptop, with 1 year warranty.
    With the folders extra given with the laptop, I was able to increase my warranty from 1 to 2 years for free, so I did.
    After probably a couple of weeks I noticed that the laptop was getting real hot, after longer usage. But according to the manual this was normal.
    I did use the laptop for gaming, but also 2 months for a gaming study. So I did take it several times to school in a backpack.
    After not using it for school anymore I reinstalled Windows Vista 32 BIT
    At a very point not sure when precisly I noticed that it wouldnt turn on (probably same problem as I have now) but I was really relaxed about it, tried it later, and somehow it did work again. This happend perhaps about 5 times in total.
    Knowing something was wrong, I took it back to Shape Computers. They checked it. (Not showing me what they did to it) But they told me I had nothing to worry about.
    After about 2 years I actually sold this laptop to my mom. She used it a couple times (she is like realy noob, just about computers in generally, not even knowing if she should double click icons or not) She took it with her a couple times on trips, and they after about 2 years and 2 months ... this problem happend.
    My mom knows a guy, and a friend of that guy, works alot with broken laptops, which told me that the problem was the _+motherboard+_.
    I decided to take it back to the shop. After a long progress being down there (about 6 to 8 weeks)(Me going to the shop like 15 times). The shop managed to tell me it was the motherboard. That the motherboard couldnt be fixed and that a new one would be way to expensive.
    +(I Known at this very point, after getting the motherboard back, that this laptop was not screwed open yet. The screws were still brand new.)+
    Funny information(not for me), during this period of about 8 weeks, they actually told me lies like ... I left a message at your voicemail, I DONT HAVE A VOICEMAIL ... sorry for the caps but im still xxxxxx about those lies.
    So still believing the shop ... my laptop is gone .... dead ... but then since last week, I started looking into the laptop myself ...(Fixing)

    Ok, the company did not reply at all ... I ended up sending another email. And they did reply with a automatic message. Now weeks later still nothing more then that auto reply.
    While I was waiting I contacted another guy that knows alot from these laptops. Getting a new part would cost me about 300 euros, and thats just the part, not even replace time.
    Considering the toshiba help I have gotten ... (pretty much none) in these last years.
    I declare my laptop dead. And decide at this very moment, that I (ofcourse) never will buy toshiba hardware again.
    I might pay a bit more at my Dell computers, but the support in the last 8 years with 5 different computer systems and 1 laptop. Has been perfect in compare to the toshiba support I have gotten in the last 3 years, which just fails.
    Thx tho all you guys for the replys.

  • BUG - Error when deploying to 10.1.3 AS Preview 4 on Linux

    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA on a Windows machine and am deploying to Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3 Preview 4 on a Linux box. I'm deploying an ADF Struts web project that is having troubles displaying my sceens. When I try to view any one of my JSPs, I get this error:

    Using a java decompiler, I've been able to locate the method setVariableResolver() in the ADFContext class which ServletADFContext.java extends. This can be found in the adfshare.jar. So I have no idea why the server can't find this method when I know it exists. I thought maybe I had an old adfshare.jar and so I replaced it everywhere I found it on the app server with the jar file that comes with JDev 10.1.3 EA. But this proved to be a dead end, as well as everything else I've tried. I've even tried reinstalling the app server. Has anyone else installed App Server 10.1.3 Preview 4 on a Linux box? Is there some qwerk that you found to get it working?
    Additionally I have created a very simple project with nothing but a JSP and it works. So I'm led to believe that there is some ADF JAR file that is not quite right. My ADF Struts web project worked using the same app server on Windows 2003. However I ran into a different problem with that: BUG - Connection pooling with 10g 10.1.3 Preview 4 App Server
    So we have decided to make the move to Linux but I can't get past this error. I have updated the ADF Runtime Libraries and I've swapped out the JDK and JRE with 1.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The adfshare.jar does not get included with my app. I've checked my WAR file and this JAR is not found there. I'm completely stumped at this point. Have you had success using Oracle App Server 10.1.3 Preview 4 on Linux?
    I have made some progress narrowing down where the error occurs. When I add data bindings to a JSP, the following code gets added to my web.xml:
       <filter>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
         <init-param>
           <param-name>encoding</param-name>
           <param-value>windows-1252</param-value>
         </init-param>
       </filter>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>
       </filter-mapping>
    If I delete this code out of my web.xml file, that error message goes away. The ADFBindingFilter class is also included in the error stacktrace. So I'm thinking that this class is the culprit. I'm convinced this is a BUG with Oracle ADF and Linux.
    Another idea perhaps is that the error occurs because I'm developing in JDeveloper on Windows and then deploying to an app server on Linux. My embedded server on Windows runs my app just fine. I have the same OS setup for JDev 10.1.2 and the app server 10.1.2 and I have no problems with that. But I really don't want to have to go back to 10.1.2.

  • BUG - ADF error when deploying to 10.1.3 AS Preview 4 on Linux

    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA on a Windows machine and am deploying to Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3 Preview 4 on a Linux box. I'm deploying an ADF Struts web project that is having troubles displaying my sceens. When I try to view any one of my JSPs, I get this error:

    I have created a very simple project with nothing but a JSP and it works.
I just can't figure out what else I'm missing.

       <filter>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
         <init-param>
           <param-name>encoding</param-name>
           <param-value>windows-1252</param-value>
         </init-param>
       </filter>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
       </filter-mapping>
       <filter-mapping>
         <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
         <servlet-name>action</servlet-name>
       </filter-mapping>
    If I delete this code out of my web.xml file, that error message goes away. The ADFBindingFilter class is also included in the error stacktrace. So I'm thinking that this class is the culprit. I'm convinced this is a BUG with Oracle ADF and Linux.
