I have 2012 13" MacBook Pro Intel i5 2.5 4GB 1TB
Was running 10.8.5 flawlessly. I thought update to Mavericks because the update notification was annoying me.
Update completed successfully. Upon reboot i get the Apple logo then few seconds later the Prohibitory sign.
I tried booting to the recovery HD and doing a repair on the Macintosh HD with no avail.This is what it says.
The Macintosh HD is grey and when I click on Verify Disk this is what it says...

I click repair disk then i get this:

I also tried to reinstall the OS but the Macintosh HD does not come up when I need to choose the HD to install on. Only the recovery partition comes up.
I tried to pull out the drive and plug it into another mac and recover the data but the drive doesn't mount. I also tried doing to disk utility on that computer and I get the same message as above.
I just want to access the data, and I will do a fresh install.
Any ideas?

Let me add that Mac A is the machine I am physically logged in on, and I did the check sshing from B to A in a Remote Desktop session, so the situation is not entirely symmetrical.

First use JPanel not Panel.

Try re-adding your printer in System Preferences/Print & Fax. Not sure what type of printer you have, but if it was old and relying on an Appletalk connection, Snow Leopard dropped that support.

Prohibitory sign after repairing privileges from CD
Snow leopard was working. I installed the upgrade on an imac 20 inches.
I started from the CD to verify disk and repair privileges.
When I repaired privileges, one file was bad, i think something related to "core"
I restarted and.... have a prohibitory sign! Imposible to enter the system.
I succeed in entering again my system reinstalling the upgrade of snow leopard
How could it be? What's wrong with my system? Do I have to format the disk and reinstall everything from zero? I'm scared this problm could happen again...

The SL DVD 'ought' to be okay to REPAIR the hard drive, and repair permissions (though ideal is to repair from a 2nd hard drive, such as the one you made with CCC).
Leopard definitely saw changes and doing any type of repair work should be done from the SAME OS version as you are running and not from older versions such as on DVD.
The article on kernel panics recommends some steps, such as clearing NVRAM for when you get a prohibitory sign. And to look at and disconnect everything possible as well - USB and FW devices/cables have been known to cause panics.
Why not repair permissions while booted? won't Disk Utility run, even in SAFE MODE when booted from your clean fresh install? though really shouldn't need to.
As for power failure, I would never run a computer without a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) .... -
Prohibitory Sign After Login - Deleted Ubuntu Partitions
I booted into recovery to delete my Ubuntu partitions. After doing that I restarted then went back to go login to OS X but when I login to my account it shows the prohibitory sign and the loading symbol. I tried booting back into recovery to repair the disk, but it wouldn't let me mount the drive to do anything. I never touched my Mac OS X partition so my files should all be there. I booted into Ubuntu through a USB to see if I could repair the disk but it says it's "unknown" and it's not showing it as the primary anymore. Also when I deleted the Ubuntu partitions, "Recovery HD" was made. How can I get back into Mac OS X?

My guess is that you somehow managed to hose the GPT partition scheme info on the drive. Someone else may have a better suggestion but I think you should be able to use Internet Recovery (if you have a broadband Internet connection) to reformat the drive & then reinstall OS X to recover from this. Thanks for the suggestion! I created a new partition with the unallocated space, then installed OS X on it then used disk recovery programs to see if I could recover anything and I couldn't. So now I'm at : How do I repartition my new main volume? -

After updating the Blackberry Desktop Software from v5.0.0 to v5.0.1. Using the automatic updating tool, my computer starts loosing connection to the network every 1 hour. I'm using Windows XP.
My company's technical assistance can only resolve the the problem by reinstalling the PC, but when I reinstall the software it happens again.

CatarinaDoing some more troubleshooting after my post above as I saw a couple of entries referencing Stop Light keep popping up in the log of the Console. I removed Stoplight and Cocoa Gesture (for good meausre) and RDC 2.0.1 started working. I think it is Stop Light which causes RDC stop working, but I don't have to time right now to put Cocoa Gesture back to confirm that. I might if I have the time or post here if you have Stop Light installed as well and removing it resolved the RDC issue for you.

Look no further, these issues are related to know bugs. It seems that autocad files have multiple issues with PI 2.0, Only feasible way is to convert them to JPGs and import them. Lets hope these will get fixed to the level they where at PI 1.3.

On PI 2.0 when we try to import autoCAD .dwg file to map, the map appears in black background.

Workaround:
use 3rd party tool like Draftsight or AutoCAD Trueview to change the file to .jpg and import again to PI, after that the map appear in white background in PI 2.0.
Further Problem Description:
However, the same .dwg file when we imported it to PI 1.3 appear in map with white background. -
Extremely slow Mac after updating to Snow Leopard from Leopard
Hi, I just updated to Snow Leopard from Leopard, and now everything is extremely slow, things keep crashing, freezing etc. What did I do wrong? How do I fix it?
Do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

My Adobe CS 4 ran perfectly find up until I updated my MAC OS from Mavericks to the new YOSIMITE. When I launch illustrator CS4 I get a window message the reads "some plug-ins in the additional Plug-ins folder are conflicting with application or user plug-ins. It will skip loading plug-ins from additional plug-ins folder." there is a OK button that I must click on to close the message window and then illustrator will continue loading process, then a second window will appear reading "Error loading plug-ins. PhotoshopImport.aip" there is a OK button that I must click on to close the message window and then illustrator will continue loading and launch.
The problem is when I open a current file that has a psd link I will get a window message reading "could not find a plug-in to read the link file _______ choose repair to locate the missing file, replace to select another file, or ignore to leave the link unchange." When selecting a psd link /file it is greyed out which I cannot select it. I can not select, choose, import or open any files/links that is a psd.
Would someone please help me resolve this issue please!!!I have the same issue! Did you get a solution yet?
