Project already open error

I have a fairly large help system that I've created in RH 7.
When I try to open the project, I receive the error, "This project
is already open in another instance of the application" even though
there is no other instance of RH running.
I suspect the problem is related to source control--I believe
the last time I checked the files in (before Christmas), RH was
still running. Then, I closed down RH. Today, I checked out all the
files and relaunched the application. However, I can't open the
project (either from the Start pod or from Windows Explorer). Do I
need to delete a file?

Help! I'm receiving the same msg. Where did you find RH
'running in the background'?
I'm using RH HTML X5.0.2. I accidentally clicked the
"Publish" button rather than the "Preview" button after Generating.
I've never setup any Publishing preferences so I have no idea what
it's doing! When I try to open the project from Version Control, I
get a msg: "This project is already open in another instance of the
application."
How can I get back into my Project?!

  • 'File is already' open error in Excel, recent problem with ddeexec

We are getting an increasing frequency of errors when opening Excel files at my company.  Our employees all use W7 SP1 32-bit and Office 2010 Pro Plus.  We store files on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 File server.  The errors have occurred a lot in
the last 2-3 weeks, but weren't a problem before then as far as we know.
The error we are seeing is when you double-click to open an Excel file, you get the following message: "<file name> is already open.  Reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded.  Do you want to reopen <file name>?"
When you open Excel first and then open the Excel file, the error message does
    not occur.
If you have Excel open and double-click the file to open it, the error message does
    not occur.
This only occurs when Excel is closed and you double-click the file to open it.  There appears to be an issue with 'dde'
If you click 'Yes' to the error, the file will reopen and you can make edits normally & save changes.  This error doesn't happen with all Excel files on our network.  I think it may have to do with linked data.  Some of these Excel files
look up to data on an Access database, for example.  The database itself isn't 'open' by any user and neither is the Excel file.  This isn't a 'file in use' problem.
I can hack the registry (see below) to get the error to go away (removing dde), but I'm looking for a more sustainable fix.
How do I get these errors to stop popping up?
I have tried Repair install of Office on a few machines with no success.  When the issue occurs on a particular file, you can reproduce it on a different client.  That is, it doesn't seem to be client-specific although you can 'fix' it by changing
how files open on the client machine.  Again, this has been an error we are seeing a lot in the last 2-3 weeks.
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open]
    @="&Open"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office14\\EXCEL.EXE\" /e \"%1\""
    "command"=-
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\ddeexec]

The "Ignore applications that use DDE" checkbox was already cleared.  Just to see what would happen, I tried selecting it and it gives this error when I try to open the file:
There was a problem sending the command to the program.
That is, if the "Ignore apps that use DDE" checkbox is selected, the file doesn't try to open twice, but it gives the above error and opens once.
(I know this isn't what you asked me to do, but I wanted to give you this information in case it was of any help.)
I am using Windows 7 and the File Types tab from Folder Options does not exist in W7.  I did dig into the registry and adjusted the Open command for .xlsx files and removed "%1" as a test.  This allowed me to open the file with no errors.
    Working registry entry:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command]@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office14\\EXCEL.EXE\""
I also tried replacing "%1" with /dde.  This also allowed me to open the file with no errors.
    Alternative working registry entry:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office14\\EXCEL.EXE\" /dde"
This still doesn't fix the root of the problem.  This only started happening 3-4 weeks ago and the only fixes we've found so far are registry edits.  I'd rather not have to push out these registry hacks to the entire company.  The root problem
    needs to be addressed!
UPDATE:  the /dde didn't appear to permanently fix anything > Excel reverted back to having %1 at the end of the registry key

  • Error maximum number of files already open error. No Other files can be opened or printed until some are closed

    Hi everyone,
While opening a file in Adobe reader 10 in Windows 7,I am getting the error as
"The maximum number of files are already open.No Other files can be opened or printed until some are closed."
Can Anyone help or suggest a setting for this ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Omkar

    Hello omkar841987,
Could you please let me know how many files have you opened simultaneously.
This count will include files that are being displayed as well as opened (without being shown in the viewer).
Using Reader, you cannot make any setting for the same, but close some of the files before crossing that limit.
It also depends on your OS and memory size as you would need enough memory to open many files at a time.

  • Already opened error message while opening GP work item

    Hi Experts
We are on NW 7.0 SP 14. We have a custom developed solution integrated with Guided procedure workflow. This workflow was working fine for almost 5-6 months. For last few days we have started getting following issue when one of the step processor executes the work item in the UWL.
The following action has been opened by another 1 user(s). The last access time is: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 3:09:26 PM.
This error is coming when there is only one user assigned as processor of the step and he opens the work item for first time.
I did a search on this issue in SAP notes and SDN but could not find anything relevant. Let me know if you need more info on this.
Any pointer to resolve this solution will be appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Prabhakar

I think the work item may got locked.
If this the case, you can un-lock it from :
Guided Procedures --> Administration --> Unlock Objects.
    This may solve your problem.

  • External Edits in CS3 - "File Already Open" Error

I have not seen a solution to this issue in any of the forum postings.
    Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, Lightroom 1.3.1, Intel MacBook, 2GB, Leopard 10.5.1
This issue occurs when opening a raw file from Lightroom for edit in Photoshop CS3. Edit goes fine, but when saving the file, Photoshop says the file has been left open and cannot save it. This happens every time. The only way to save the file is to do a Save As... with a different name, which is not ideal since that gives me two copies of the PSD file on the drive, one of which is not in the Lightroom catalog. Kinda defeats the purpose of edits from Lightroom. Anyone run into this? Thanks much,
    Dave

This just started happening for me without using Lightroom, just Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, OSx 10.4.11 and regular psd files. I get a few saves throughout the day before I get the error.
Anyone finding a solution other then save as?

  • Unable to add picture to Indesign file: error the file is already open.

I am hoping that someone may have an answer for my question as I can't seem to find a solution anywhere else.
    The Setup:
We have a primarly windows network with windows servers and network shares. (Yes all the shares are NTFS formated)
We have six Desktop MACs OS X 10.5.4 added to this network and the MACs have loaded on them the complete Adobe CS4 suite.
    The problem:
The issue happens when one of our users is attempting to drop a PSD file into an opened Indesign file.
They user opens the Indesign file first from the network share in folder1, the user the goes to folder2 and attempts to drag and drop a PSD into the Indesign file they get the error the file is already open.
So my first question what would be the most likly cause of this error?
Second question is we also have a program called AdmitMac loaded on the MACs for authenication with the servers.
Could this be interfering in anyway? AdmitMac uses Kerberos authenication, do the Adobe program recognise this Authenication type?

    grmg,
There is nothing wrong with the ID file or the PSD file.  If the user moves both files to their desktop the drag-n-drop function works just fine.
Even if just one of the files is on the desktop and the other on the network the drag-n-drop works fine.
The issue is when both files are on the network server, that is when we get the error.
Also it doesn't seem to matter what the file type is, the same thing occurs, if both files are on the Windows Server we get the "File already open" error
The Artist just need to make links in ID to the picture files until the final revision.
(We would perfer to keep the files on the server for backup purposes.  In the past we have had one to many contractors come in to do work and they do everything on the desktop and when they leave they sometimes delete their desktop.  As such the files never gets backed up.)
I need to know what tweak, change or update I can apply so that both files can be on the server and the Drag-n-Drop function still works.
    thanks for the reply.

  • Unable to prepare project for publishing The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (File already open with with write permission)

When I click on finalize project or when I tried to share on Vimeo iMovie goes through this ten hour operation and the, somethime while I'm away from the computer, I get this error message.  UNABLE TO PREPARE PROJECT FOR PUBLISHING.  The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (File already open with with write permission).
This has happened to me before and I can't nail down the particulars of when this happens.  I will say I've never been able to Finalize A Project (not even sure what than means) but I have been able to publish short films to YouTube.  This current film is a little over an hour and I picked the HD Format.  Could the size have something to do with it?

    Hi
Error -49 opWrErr  File already open with write permission
Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
    • Create a new User-Account
    • Log out of Your old one and into this
    • Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.
