Project Bin Settings

Does CS4 remeber the custom Column settings in the project window between re-opening or changing Projects?
Currently this is driving me insane (in CS3) as I work on 5 projects on and off during the same day(s).

Bill, I used to do the same thing.
Here's another trick PrCS4 can do:
Create a template project with opening sequence or closing sequence or title sequence; whatever.
Open a new Pr project (columns are remebered) and Import just a single Seq from your template project. You dont have to import the entire project any more. Pr CS4 is smart enough to import all the assets associated only with the single sequence you import. I find this very helpful.

  • Vista & Adobe PS 6  Missing project bin

I am using Windows Vista and just installed Adobe PS 6 and can't locate the project bin. I have checked everything on the program and it is no where to be found.
I wrote for support and was turned down.
    Any suggestions?
    Judy Riddle

    Hey Judy,
To start with you can try deleting the preference files:
Start PSE to get to the Welcome screen. Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys and click Edit. Keep holding down the keys until you see a window asking Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File? Click Yes.
If this does not solve the problem reinstall PSE in simplified mode.
In a simplified mode, nonstandard device drivers and startup software are disabled. Make sure that the virus protection utilities are turned off. These sometimes conflict with the installer to cause problems with PSE.
    Hope this helps.

  • PSE 6 Project Bin doesn't open

Hi. Can't open PSE 6 Project Bin on my Mac. Does anybody know what could be wrong? Reinstalled it, but nothing changed. Thanks.

Thank you. Didn't find the last file you mentioned - Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 settings, only found - Adobe Photoshop CS 3 settings. Deleted the first two but PSE opened as usual (without functioning project bin). There is a file - com.adobe.Photoshop.plist. Should I delete this one also?

Reinstalling is not the solution for problems like these. Go to your username >library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 settings
    Repair permissions and try again.

  • Multiple instances of the same source clip in Project bin

    This is a strange one.
I think its more an issue now than ever due to tapeless format editing. I edit lots of video now shot on Canon 5d. They sometimes have thousands of individual clips.
The problem is that our project files are getting huge and premiere slows to a grinding halt.
We copy paste lots of timelines from one project to another. When we paste, all of the source clips land in the project bin (as you would expect) However, sometimes I have already made reference to the same source files in the edit to begin with (So they are already in the project bin)
However, when I paste a new timeline, it will make another reference to that same source clip in the project bin. Therefore double up reference to a souce clip in the project. Increasing the clips in the overall project, which bloats everything and slows premiere down.
Can premiere be smarter? Can it see that the source file already exists in the project and link to that existing file instead of creating another reference to the same file?
    Hope that makes sence.

I am beginning to think that there is no easy way around this issue.
I have started to use Final Cut and am noticing lots of differences between the two platforms. I have been a Adobe Premiere user for 10 years and I concider myself a NINJA using this program. However, there are definitly differences between the two, this being one of them.
Final cut does not double up on source references in your project bin when copying one sequence from one project into another.
    CLEVER
Its annoying that premiere doubles files up as it gets ridiculously messy in your project bin. Double ups, triple ups, quadruple ups the list goes on.
Its strange cause when you start a Prem project from scratch and import a source clip, you can set in and out points as many times as possible and drag onto the timeline, and it does not duplicate the original source file in the project bin. Thus keeping your project bin neat and clean. However, as soon as you paste a sequence, it goes and duplicates refeneces like its outta control, rather than looking at what you alraedy have in your project bin and saying to itself. (Hmmm well the source clip is already here, so we dont have to duplicate this one....move onto the next file)
Prem is great at lots of things, dont get me wrong. I freaking love the program, however, things like this let it down as the program becomes unusable as it gets bogged down with way too many clip references.
Hmmm, we shall see who wins the day in the end. Time do do some Final Cut edditing now.
P.S. Final cut can do 16 multi clips in a real time edit. Premiere...only 4...come on Prem, pick up your game!

  • FCPX Project Render Settings - Can you edit in h.264 and Transcode/render only used clips on timeline to Prores during render?

I have a question on the PROJECT RENDER settings in FCP X. It’s seems to me that one could theoretically import and edit entirely with original h.264 video files without needing to Transcode to ProRes422. Once you’re done with your edit and want to get the added benefits of COLOR GRADING in ProRes422 color space, it seems that FCPX will automatically render your edit in ProRes422 according to these preferences. In that case, a color grade could be applied to the whole edit, and be automatically transcoded/rendered into ProRes 422 during the render process. After rendering, what would show up on the viewer and what would EXPORT would be the rendered Prores files and not the original h.264 files. This saves a lot of time and space of transcoding ALL your media, and in theory should enable you to edit NATIVE video formats like h.264, with automatic benefits of ProRes during render.  I'm assuming the render may take longer because FCPX is having to convert h.264 video files to ProRes422 while rendering. This may be one drawback. But will you your color grade actually use the 4:2:0 color space of the h.264 native media, or will it utilize 4:2:2 color space, since the render files are set to render to ProRes422 ? Can anyone please confirm that this theory is correct and optimal for certain work flows?? Thanks!

Thanks Wild. That's what I thought - in that the render files would be converted to ProRes422 codec. So do you or anyone else think that there is an advantage to having the 4:2:0 original file be processed in a 4:2:2 color space?
Yes there is an advantage, any effects and grading will look better than in a 4:2:0 space.
Most professionals online seem to think so. Also - will rendering of heavy effects and color grading take longer using this method because it's having to convert h.264 media to ProRes during render?
Yes, it will definitely take longer.
Can anyone verify from a technical standpoint whether editing and color grading in this workflow will see the same benefits as having transcoded the h.264 media to ProRes in the first place?
Same benefits from a final product view point, you lose on rendering time though and if you have lots of effects things will seem slow as it will have render everytime from the h264 file rather than a Pro Res file for every change you make. This may be fine on a higher end mac but I'm sure just pummels an older lower end mac as to being almost useless.

  • HELP NEEDED Viewing pointers in Project Bin

    Hello,
Last night I loaded 34 video clips into a project bin labeled DAY ONE VIDEO.
Today, per the screen shot below, I can see that I still have 34 items in the bin (as seen in the upper right hand corner of the screen shot), but although the folder is open, I can't see any clips.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Matt Dubuque

    Matt,
Glad that you found their new location, and even before someone here could suggest having that morning cup of coffee and looking again...
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I feel your pain, as similar has happened to me - that's why my forehead is so sloped - from slapping it, when I remember what I did.

  • Photoshop Elements 7 Stop Project Bin from Opening

Is there any way to stop the project bin from opening.  It takes screen space I need on my laptop and also slows it down.  I am using XP.  Thanks for any help.
    Gail

    Hi,
See there is triangle in the middle of line above Photo-bin. Click on that and Photobin will collapse. Even when you move th cursor to uppar line cursor type changes to resize, so you can click and move it down upto the limit you want.
Hope it will solve your problem

  • Show organizer files in the project bin.

In the project bin the default option is to "show open files".  But there is an additional oprion in the drop down menu "Show files from Orgainzer".  I am just learning to use elements 8 and am reading a book that describes this and see the drop down menu in my program but when I choose that option nothing is displayed.  The open file thumbnail goes away but nothing from orgaizer replaces it.  Is this a bug in the program or am I doing something wrong?   Julie

Sorry for the perhaps silly question, but did you send multiple files from the organizer to the editor? It's not just a shortcut to see all the photos in the organizer--it only shows the images you've sent over for editing. Are you saying you did send a bunch of files and they still don't appear? If you click back to the organizer do those images show the red band with a lock on it?

  • Can't drag images to the project bin in photoshop Element 8

    Hello,
I'm new to Photoshop Element 8 on Mac ( I was using photoshop element 5 on PC before).  For some reason I can't seem to be able to drag any files to my project bin!  The only way I have managed to open files in PSE 8 is trough the File-Open menu which is really  annoying and makes  everything very time consuming.   Help Please!
    D.B.

    Hi DB
You can do this from the OS.
    Open the Editor.
Open the folder and minimize it.
Command click on the items you want or select all and drag into the main window of the PSE Editor.
Or simply select the number of images you want in organizer and hit Full Edit.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Editor not showing images in Project Bin

Yesterday I went though my PE9 Organiser and rearrange some of my files and made sure that it was more user friendly.
Today I went in to try and do some edits and not all of the folders are showing up in PE9 Project Bin. I can view some images, but not all images. I know that I can view some images that I move yesterday, but there are some that weren't moved that I can't see and some that I didn't move that i can't see.
When i go to my Organiser I can see that the images are tagged and in the folders - why can't PE9 Editor show them to me?

    Hi,
Can you please tell where are folders visible in Project Bin?
I can't see folders in my PE9 project bin.
    Thanks

  • Open multiple images from the project bin

In Elements 9 I can only seem to open 1 image from the project bin at a time! What am I doing wrong?
    Bob Dunkerley.

You need to double click on your main image and then drag your second image up from the project bin. That creates separate images on separate layers.

  • Project Bin won't stay open - PSE 7

In previous versions, the Project/Photo Bin at the bottom would stay open displaying the images you had open while you worked in the Work Area.
Now, when I open it, and return to the work area, it immediately closes. I understand that the PSE 7 Project Bin is a little different, but is this a feature I'm not appreciating or is it no longer supposed to stay open?
I used it open for a number of things, so I miss the ability to keep it open. If there's a setting somewhere to keep in open, I'd love to hear about it.
(Note: I can open it from the Window > Project Bin menu or by clicking the icon next to "Show Project Bin" just fine, and the Project Bin window is stretched up with sufficient room for it to display, so none of those are the question :)
    Thank you!
    Bev Schulz

Thank you! I finally discovered the right-click box with Auto-Hide in it, but didn't know there was an option in Preferences as well. I appreciate the help!

  • How do you make the project bin window Not come up in quick edit in PE9?

A few weeks ago I started to notice the Project Bin coming up whenever I went to quick edit. I don't think it did it before that. I always have to go to windows and uncheck it to get more screen space to work with.
How do I get the Project Bin to Not automatically come up when I press Quick edit in Premier Elements 9?

This is the Premiere Elements forum.
Quick Edit is a function of Photoshop Elements. If this is a question about Photoshop Elements, you're more likely to get an answer in the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • How do you make the project bin window Not come up in quick edit?

How do I get the Project Bin to Not automatically come up when I press Quick edit in Photoshop Elements 9?

Yes, thanks, I understand how to close it by what you said and also clicking on Project Bin title bar.
I would like to know how to change the default so the project bin does not automatically open when I open quick edit.
Anybody know how to change the default to do this?

  • How do you rearrange footage in project bin

Once I have imported my footage how do I rearange them in the project bin. I can't seem to grab a clip and move it into the
position in list I want ( similar to arranging clips in PP or FCP ) Thank you

You can't arbitrarily order entries in the Project panel. You can order items by any of the columns (e.g., by name, type). You can also order by the Comment column. When I want a specific set of items to be ordered in a custom order, I add tags to the Comments field and sort by that column.
