    Hello,
    Is this position still open?

  • San Rafael, CA--large residential area with NO cell, and NO data service--area rated by Verizon tech as "ALL COVERAGE BAD", multiple complaints--but no response by Verizon

    Dear Verizon Wireless Executives,
I am writing to let you know that I (and many of my neighbors) are on the verge of switching to ATT, due to terrible reception in my home neighborhood.
I moved to Dominican neighborhood in San Rafael in March 2014, where I bought a house. I discovered that Verizon cell service varies from non-existent to terrible, both for data and cell service. At best I might get 1x data, and 0 or 1 bar for cell. All calls are dropped within 15 seconds. Data typically does not work.
My response was to first purchase and install a network extender. However, due to the size and configuration of my home,  I discovered that I needed a second extender to cover the whole house. This has led to new problems—the two extenders “compete” and if I start a call in one part of the house and move 1 or 2 feet too far in the other direction, I lose the call.
ATT has a powerful cell tower on the ridge above my neighborhood, which consistently produces 5 bars. It sits on a ridge in the Marin Open Space, likely on an old Nike base radio tower. (there are numerous towers on this ridge as a result of the abandoned Nike missle site).
I have begun to organize in my neighborhood—Dominican/Black Canyon Home Owners Asssociation, with about 1200 homes. When I posted a message asking about other people’s experience with Verizon Wireless, I was inundated with at least 30 or 40 angry and frustrated messages from Verizon customers, on NextDoor, a neighborhood listserve.
Today I completed a long Verizon Wireless “trouble ticket”, number NRB000007366782. I was told that there have been many, many complaints from this neighborhood for both data and cell coverage, or more to the point, lack of coverage. Your records indicate that this neighborhood is considered within Verizon as a “1X marginalization area”. And yet ,  currently there is no plan at Verizon to remedy this situation.
I strongly encourage you to begin an immediate search for access to one of the many existing towers on the ridge above my house to place a Verizon cell station.
In the event that you choose to continue to ignore this neighborhood and it’s abysmal coverage, I will organize a mass defection of Verizon Wireless residents to switch to ATT. I encourage you to begin this process now, let me and the neighborhood know of your plans, and have it completed in six months. If we have  not heard from you within 1 month (November 21, 2014), we will switch to ATT en masse beginning in December.

That is not going to happen due to a myriad of reasons.
1- Verizon listed the area correctly. So its not deceiving the customers. So based on that I would have left for a better provider.
2- Verizon cannot just pop out and place service on any tower or property. They must gain permission to place signal towers in locations. They must secure the approval of villages, towns, cities or counties to even think of putting service towers up. This can take years.
Then if the approval is opposed and no other sites can be obtained your service stays as it is. This is not a carrier fault. Go after the town boards and elected officials that will not allow their placement.
And blame the majority of people who also oppose these towers etc. Based on scares of cancer, birth defects, and even people having seizures. Yep read up on it.
Your speaking for your neighbors is admirable but futile. You cannot get what you want in 6x6 months.

    Good luck to you all

  • Scanning Pictures for HD Project I Need Advice

I am about to *Scan Pictures for HD Project* I Need Advice. The scanner is a HP Scanjet G4050 my questions are:
1: At what resolution do I scan these pictures _+(300 or highest dpi available)+_
2: What color choice is necessary *(RGB vs CMYK)*
3: Can you please suggest points for creating a backdrop for the pictures (various sizes) in the Timeline
    Thanks in advance

Scan the picture like you normally would. If the vertical resolution is 1080, you are fine. Don't worry about the 1280 width as black will be in that area not taken up with the photo. That part won't matter if it isn't 1280 if it is a vertical picture. If you don't have at least 1080 high, you might want to re-scan at a higher resolution. If you have it say, 2000 pixels high really no big deal except you don't need it that high and all that extra size slows down your system. If you want it at a lower resolution after you scan go into Photoshop->Image->Image size. Be sure and check "Constrain Proportions" before you change the dimensions in the top box for the height (where you are best using the units as pixels) That way the picture will stay in proportion. Don't use this second method to 'add' more pixels as the quality suffers when you go up this way. Rescan if you want MORE pixels.
All the above is talking about vertical pictures. If you have a really wide photo that is not very tall, use the same principle but keep the width constant. For example let's say you have a 2x6 inch photo. Make sure the width is at least 1280 pixels. Don't worry that the height will be less than 1080 because black will take up that space.
If you are going to do any zoom in and/or panning across a picture, you'll need to make sure it has more than the minimum pixels. For me a little goes a long way, so I zoom in slowly maybe 10-15%.

  • Handling a big project - advice needed

    Hi
I am using Premiere Pro CS4 to edit 1920*1080 AVCHD footage (3 hours in total) shot with a Canon HF10 camera. In that matter I have a three questions:
    1) Since I don't have a Blu-Ray burner in my PC yet, I am chopping my movie up into several parts each with a length of approximately 30 minutes, so I can burn some DVD's with the movie. My question is then: How do I do this the easiest way? Do I make 6 different projects and edit the movie as if it was 6 independent movies, or is there any better way of doing this?
    2) And how do I merge these 6 parts in one, which I will need when I get a Blu-Ray burner?
    3) Would you think it is a bad idea to make such a huge project? I have tried several other programs to edit AVCHD with no luck - the programs always crashed at some point, so I am a bit nervous if a 3 hour project would be too huge to be handled properly even though Premiere Pro CS4 looks to be working good. So far I have been able to transcode 30 minutes footage to a DVD with success using Encore (haven't tried more yet). Then I burnt the ISO to a DVD with some freeware program and it looked amazing when I played it with my BD player.
In case you want info on my hardware I give it to you here:
    Intel Core2Quad Q9450 2.6Ghz, 4 GB Memory, 1000GB Samsung F1 HD, GF8800GTS 512MB, Windows Vista Ultimate 32Bit
Please tell me if I am unclear about something or need to give you more information.
    Thanks in advance :)

That AVCHD footage must be ***** to edit.
My P2 dvcprohd files are a gig a minute yet I get realtime playback with video's on 2 channels fullscreen uncompressed using a computer with just slightly higher - but almost the same - specs as yours. Using just a single SATA 640gb WD and my files are 4 times the size of your AVCHD files.
Hell now I can even playback the footage in After Effects realtime fullframe with now FX (something that comes in handy because I can use AE as my NLE if there isn't to much sound involved)
With big projects you need to split it down to 10-17 minutes parts. Once they get longer than that Premiere becomes sluggish. It's no problem putting all the 'projects' in to a feature length timeline just don't expect to do much editing when it's put together because it'll be real sluggish.
Render to an uncompressed still sequence because you can always restart where the render stopped if it crashes (and it's more likely to the bigger the project).
I'm finishing a feature that way and it's worked great all on CS4 (not that I'm happy with Adobe about Premiere CS4 at all). But I had around 20 hours of rough footage and with duplicates it's 4 terabytes or so.

    Hi,
From your description, my understanding is that you have some doubts about SAN.
If you have a SAN, you can leverage it to make SharePoint
a little easier to manage and to tweak SharePoint's performance. From a management standpoint, SANs make it easy to adjust the size and number of SharePoint's hard disks. What you could refer to this blog:
http://windowsitpro.com/sharepoint/best-practices-implementing-sharepoint-san. You could find what SAN needs from part “Some
    SAN Basics” in this blog.
These articles may help you understand SAN:

  • Archiving of spool requests (ERS documents) Apprentice Project HELP needed..

    Hi guys,
I'm an apprentice from Germany and I have to do a project for my final exams. I could desparetly Need some help on getting started.
In our SRM, we have a program for the Generation of ERS documents (credit note?).
Firstly, the Programm BBPERS creates ERS Idocs on Basis of stock-receipt (?). Secondly, the program RSPPFPROCESS sends the ERS invoice to the supplier via mail.
The document is saved only as an email.
We do have a Z-Programm, ZZBBPERS, that is used for subsequent creation of ERS documents as PDFs. These are saved in the Spool, but for each invoice a different spool number is created.
Now my Task is to find a way to Archive these ERS documents into an external Archive. We use d.3 as Archive, I don't know if you have heard of it. But that shouldn't matter right now.
So the question is, how can this be achieved? I don't really know anything about archiving in SAP. And this is a very Special case. Where do I have to start? Do I Need to write a program, or can I use some of SAPs Standard possiblities? What programs are there for archiving spools? Can they be defined as only archiving Spools from program X? Where do I define archiving procedures?
I hope some of you can get me started. I don't Need a perfect solution right off the bat, just a place to start and ideas how to Approach this Project.
Thanks SO MUCH in advance for any help!
    Greetings,
    Sebastian

Thank you so much, this brought me a leap Forward.
So the Business object should be the BUS2207, right? This is our Business object for ERS. We don't have BUS2081, what is that?
edit: Wait, what is the difference between Business Object and Archiving Object? We do not have an archiving object vor ERS.
To clarify: We do not book in SRM, we are sending it per Idoc to another SAP System where the booking takes place.
We are just creating the PDF out of the BUS2207 and sending it to the vendor via RSPPFPROCESS and Action "BBP_ERS".
Can you tell me where I can see detailed Information for the Archive Connection? I have the entry in OAC0 with IP address and all. But we have no records of ever archiving in this System so how can I see Connection details and test it?
I also have to analyze if ArchiveLink is already set up and working..
Also, where do I define how the files are saved in the storage System? With this I mean like in which Content repositories / Folders and so on they are saved.
What Information are given to the PDF? All document informations, like Dates invoice number and so on? How can I use them for my Archive structure?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Pre-Project help needed

I have used PE7 successfully with single camera footage from my Canon GL2 (nonHD). Now, I want to add an additional camera to get two simultaneous shots, then edit together in the timeline.
To that end I purchased a Canon VIXIA HFS100. This shoots AVCHD (HD) format. My goal will be to end up with a non HD project in PE7 to then write to standard DVD's.
The new Canon s100 has 5 shooting modes according to file size and quality. Is there a suggestion as to which I should shoot in as I will ultimately not be getting an HD product at the end and the highest quality takes lots of computing power to deal with?
What settings should I be using to import the HD files into PE7?
Any other tips before I get started? This will be a challange for me I'm sure and I appreciate any help I can get ahead of time...and I'm sure I'll be back in the "during"part of the project as well.
    Kenny

What do you mean by "matching source footage"? Does that refer to vertically stacking the two video tracks in the timeline so as to be in sync with the audio track?
This refers to getting the source footage from each camera to match in all aspects. DV-AVI Type II is a great format/CODEC to work with, as it is the "native" format of both PrE and PrPro.
As for syncing the footage, the slate/clapper is a good idea. Now, with your case, the live performances, one thing to remember will be that both cameras need to shoot the slate, and then continue to run. Otherwise, one would need to reslate for each "take" for both cameras, and this will not be possible with a live performance. You'll just get more footage, than you will likely use with the second camera, the one used for CU's, etc. Much of it will just "hit the cutting room floor." Were you doing a dramatic, scripted movie, then you would just slate each take, but you will likely not have the leisure to do this.
Not sure what is being suggested by this:
In PrPro, one can turn ON/OFF the visibility of either Video Layer, at will. PrE does not allow for this, so adjusting Opacity is the only way that I can see to "get to" the footage on the lower Video Track. Because PrPro also offers a full multi-cam mode, you get two (or more) monitors to view the individual Tracks.
Now, with regard to your computer. I feel that you will have performance issues trying to use it for the AVCHD footage. Most recommend a minimum of a new Quad-core CPU. Many recommend dual Quads, and some feel that the performance is so greatly compromised by the material, that they adhere to dual 7i's, as their minimum. AVCHD is very highly CPU intensive - more so than other formats.
The 4GB RAM will help you, but I would be curious about your I/O subsystem, i.e. your HDD's, their size, speed, controller type, free space and how each is allocated. Most editing and playback is highly I/O intensive (usually more so than CPU-intensive, but not so with AVCHD), so this is a very important aspect of your computer.
    Good luck on your Project,
    Hunt
