    Hello,
    Is this position still open?

  • San Rafael, CA--large residential area with NO cell, and NO data service--area rated by Verizon tech as "ALL COVERAGE BAD", multiple complaints--but no response by Verizon

    Dear Verizon Wireless Executives,
I am writing to let you know that I (and many of my neighbors) are on the verge of switching to ATT, due to terrible reception in my home neighborhood.
I moved to Dominican neighborhood in San Rafael in March 2014, where I bought a house. I discovered that Verizon cell service varies from non-existent to terrible, both for data and cell service. At best I might get 1x data, and 0 or 1 bar for cell. All calls are dropped within 15 seconds. Data typically does not work.
My response was to first purchase and install a network extender. However, due to the size and configuration of my home,  I discovered that I needed a second extender to cover the whole house. This has led to new problems—the two extenders “compete” and if I start a call in one part of the house and move 1 or 2 feet too far in the other direction, I lose the call.
ATT has a powerful cell tower on the ridge above my neighborhood, which consistently produces 5 bars. It sits on a ridge in the Marin Open Space, likely on an old Nike base radio tower. (there are numerous towers on this ridge as a result of the abandoned Nike missle site).
I have begun to organize in my neighborhood—Dominican/Black Canyon Home Owners Asssociation, with about 1200 homes. When I posted a message asking about other people’s experience with Verizon Wireless, I was inundated with at least 30 or 40 angry and frustrated messages from Verizon customers, on NextDoor, a neighborhood listserve.
Today I completed a long Verizon Wireless “trouble ticket”, number NRB000007366782. I was told that there have been many, many complaints from this neighborhood for both data and cell coverage, or more to the point, lack of coverage. Your records indicate that this neighborhood is considered within Verizon as a “1X marginalization area”. And yet ,  currently there is no plan at Verizon to remedy this situation.
I strongly encourage you to begin an immediate search for access to one of the many existing towers on the ridge above my house to place a Verizon cell station.
In the event that you choose to continue to ignore this neighborhood and it’s abysmal coverage, I will organize a mass defection of Verizon Wireless residents to switch to ATT. I encourage you to begin this process now, let me and the neighborhood know of your plans, and have it completed in six months. If we have  not heard from you within 1 month (November 21, 2014), we will switch to ATT en masse beginning in December.

That is not going to happen due to a myriad of reasons.
1- Verizon listed the area correctly. So its not deceiving the customers. So based on that I would have left for a better provider.
2- Verizon cannot just pop out and place service on any tower or property. They must gain permission to place signal towers in locations. They must secure the approval of villages, towns, cities or counties to even think of putting service towers up. This can take years.
Then if the approval is opposed and no other sites can be obtained your service stays as it is. This is not a carrier fault. Go after the town boards and elected officials that will not allow their placement.
And blame the majority of people who also oppose these towers etc. Based on scares of cancer, birth defects, and even people having seizures. Yep read up on it.
Your speaking for your neighbors is admirable but futile. You cannot get what you want in 6x6 months.

    Good luck to you all

  • FCP Projects in San

Is anyone working with FCP projects on the San? Opening them over a afp share, if so how are you finding it?
Or is the typical workflow, copy the project to a local drive and then copy back and never working directly on the san.

I have been using Xsan for about two years and recently upgraded to Xsan 2. I save all of my FCS project files on the Xsan, so the project file is available from any workstation on the Xsan. Copying to the local workstation can lead to many problems if you don't remember to copy that file back to the Xsan.

  • Aperture: Separate projects without using albums?

    Hey there!
    My problem is the following:
    The Aperture structure I use:
    -Folder1 (e.g travelling)
    ----project (e.g. San Francisco)
    -----------Album1 (e.g beach)
    -----------Album2 (e.g. museum)
    -----------Album3 (e.g. Party)
    ----project2
    -----------Album1
    -----------Album2
    -----------Album3
    -Folder2
This is in principal a good thing, however:
Syncing with my iPhone the app "Photos" shows me tons of incoherent albums. Not very Apple-like.
Moreover I don't think Album is correctly used in this context, it's more something like a workaround.
How do you solve this problem?
    Thank you very much.

Concur with Kirby's approach: I use a similar approach as my primary organisational model.
I think you're using the albums as a substitute for keywords.  In my library, there it would be arranged thus:
    Project: 2011 San Francisco Trip
Keywords Used: SanFrancisco, holidays, museum, beach, party, shopping, landscape etc
    OR
    Folder: 2011 San Francisco Trip
         Project: Guided Tour
         Project: Museum Visit
for longer visits.  Keywords remain in full use as above.
Having said that, my family holiday for a week to a tropical island was a single project, because the family wanted to see the images in one place.
    How's your keywording?

  • Automatically Adding Service to Project

I have a custom device that has an accompanying VeriStand service.  I would love to be able to automatically add the service to the owning VeriStand project when the custom device is added to the system definition.
I realize that a system definition could theoretically be "owned" by more than 1 project, but that will not be the case for me.  I've been exploring the VeriStand .NET API, but haven't found the connecting pieces that I need.
Is there a way to get a reference to the current project from the configuration code of a custom device?
Is it possible to add a service to a VeriStand project through the .NET API?
    Thank you,
    Chris

So indeed there are quite a few tricks to play around with.
First we have to choose the right moment to add the service to the project. I suggest you add an ActionVI "On Shutdown" that will only trigger when your CD is present, upon closing the System Explorer. This ActionVI shall programmatically add you Service VI to the project owned by the SDF.
Find the nivsproj file associated to the SDF. This could be done with the .NET call Factory.GetAllActiveProjects() (Client API assembly)
There comes the unsupported and undocumented part. You can browse the nivsproj and thus edit it programmatically through the DocumentType class from the SystemStorage assembly. The attached code shows you that trick.
Now your service is added to the nivsproj, but thing is your nivsproj loaded in NIVS can't automatically update. You need to close and reopen it thanks to the Project API.
Once it reopens, you an check your service has been added.
    Enjoy

  • Automatically Add a Tool to a Project

Same question, but with a Tool this time:

    Chris

    Certified TestStand Architect

Unfortunately that's not possible this time. The list of the tools for a given project is a rather mysterious variant. There's no way to decipher this and edit it. Just like the content of the workspace, for instance.
You can still call a tool that is not bound to the project through the API (NI VeriStand - Open Workspace Tool.vi - or IProject.OpenTool(string Path)). You just need the path (Warning, the VI must be a source distribution!) for that.

  • A CERTIFICATION Question

I am a Network Administrator in the military, so I am not really certified, just military trained. Now when I get out of the military I want to pursue this career and I need to be certified so please give me a list of good certifications that will get me the good money. I want to be a Systems and Network Administrator. I am currently taking MCSE courses, and pursuing a associates degree in IT computer science.

An MCSE is a great start. Not to discourage the earlier suggestion of a CCIE, but a Systems/Network admin is more focused on back-end systems integration and support (primarily NOS stuff and campus level infrastructure) while a CCIE's are typically network architects or consultants. In my experience, the following certifications in addition to your MCSE will make you a very well rounded and marketable high-end systems administrator or engineer and get you big $$$ (ofcourse you will still need experience with all the different technologies but that's a given):
#1 - Certified NetWare Engineer (CNE) Certification:
the exams you need to take are...
    50-653 NetWare 5.1 Administration v2.0 (Course 560)
50-632 Networking Technologies (Course 565) - * You can waive this course with a MCSE certification *
    50-654 NetWare 5.1 Advanced Administration (Course 570)
    50-659 NDS Design & Implementation 2.0 (Course 575)
50-658 Service and Support (Course 580)
