Hi All,
I have just certified on BW 3.5 and working towards delta BI7 certification. However I have no experience in IT projects whether it is SAP or non SAP. So youll understand the problems I am facing.
I found wealth of information here how implementations are going on, the team involve, time and resource need and day to day activities. My question is me to be more specific, is it possible to have a chat with some of you guys about particular projects youll have worked or currently working. I have particular questions in mind and may arise more while our conversations are going on.

Dear Satya,
First of all , I want to make very clear that If you don't have a Experience you should not put it in your resume.Because its considered as Fake resume.It is also natural that when you will put some experience of SAP in resume , Interviewer will ask question about your experience, which you will not able to answer.
I think you may be new in this field & even if you may able to get selected in some IT company based on your resume & interview , there are Background checks carried in IT companies & if it found Red you will loose your job.
This is my personal advice.
I think what you can do that there are lot of SAP courses with simulation projects. You can attend those courses & get experience of simulation project & then you can mention in your resume.This will help you to answer Question based on your simulation project implementation & you will also know the problems in the project.

If you started working with new implementation project then you will get a chnace to involve in all phases like Blue printing,analysys,realization,development testing.
Creation of obejcts in ESR or ID its not a big deal,but when you are working with complex landscape then you feel to elanr and many newthing in PI how to achieve the requirement using Writing some good UDF and using node function ...Adapter Modules or JAVA Mapping or XSLT Mappings..and many.
When you get in to SAP PI project,when you started development first you will start analysing the functional document and then you will start preparing techincal specification,then mapping specification then development,testing..these all tasks happend in pahse by phase.after completion of development then you wl tesing the interfaces ,preparing test cases...
we can say full lide cycle implemenattion prijects invloves above all tasks.

can anyone explain in which business procees why & where we go for IM with an example & also what was benifits if we go for IM-PS over we use only PS. as per my knowledge IM was use Capital investments, such as the acquisition of fixed assets as the result of-house production or purchase, Investments in research and development, Projects that fall primarily under overhead, such as continuing education of employees or establishing new markets.

As you have poinnted out rightly one use is for hte asset actuisition . But aling with asset acquitison, Normally you plan estimated cost for that budget via dummy project or previous project experience. This project cost plant can roll up at the IM postion level. Than based on it you can give budget at IM level & distribute that budget at Project ( measure )level.
In this is IM - PS helps to organization level & Project cost planning & Budgeting for hte acquision of Asset.

Finding open source/GNU free software projects

I am looking to work on an open source or GNU free software project.
So far I have found three places to shop:

2) gnu.org
3) sourceforge
Are there any other major projects?
I have an MSEE and 10 years C/C++ UNIX-centric, server-centric development
experience and completed a good 3 month course @ 40 hrs/week in Java/J2EE
(Beans, xml, JSP, servlets, JDBC, etc.) I'm looking to get/give project experience
to get past the "training has no value" roadblack that most employers throw
in ones face in this glutted techie labor market.

I have 3 years experience in abap module but never got oppurtunity to work in an implementaion project.Now i am looking for a job change.But in most of the job requirements i see min 1 implementation project experience required which i dont have now.In these 3 years i have worked in many abap objects and very confident in abap through self learining and support experience..now my question is what kind of exposure am missign now ? => You have missed out reading the Rules of Engagement of these forums. Unable to find top level site associated with project site

Hello!
SP and PS 2013. I faced the problem with one project and its site synchronization.
When user published this project at 1st time, the site wasn’t created (there were some errors), but user didn’t notice that. So, after few days when he couldn’t open
the site, he ask me for help.
I did my usual operations in such cases – I open “Connected sites” and create the site myself.
Earlier there was not any problem with that. But now this project experiences some troubles with permissions sync for
it’s site – there is no synchronization.
I connected this problem with November CU, which has been installed couple of weeks ago.
I have read about the same problems after upgrade, so I want to emphasize that site was created on the root site collection (Project Web App) and it is not a subsite
of another project site.
If there is no solution until next update, maybe there is some way to turn off permission synchronization only for this site?
Any help will be appriciated!!!

Hi Kate_S,
since you are already aware that its a known issue caused Sep 2014 CU i believe, and an official fix has yet to release.
but i would like to clarify here that this issue doesn't have anything to do with project site creation, because sync queue job while creating project site fails but does not block other queues activities. so your project site should be created in a normal
way.
and until official fix will arrive, 1 of the option is to change your project sites to provision under root site collection instead of PWA site collection. But be aware that this will fix sync issue only for new project sites.
Go to Central Administratio -> PWA settings -> open site provision settings menu and made changes.
2nd option is, since Project Owner always get access to Project site, to teach your project owners to include project team members manually to project site permission group to allow them to have access. this option can help you with both new and existing
project sites, and i personally prefer this and did the same for my affected customers.

Who can introduce the development contents of the project using java ?

    1. Do you develop function that would run in a sap standard system(such as CRM ,internet sales)? OR develop a completely independent web application base on client's demand(EJB,JSP,HTML)?

Hi Guixin,
The most common structure for building a WebDynPro application is to expose functionality from underlying systems and present it using the WebDynPro UI. Often the underlying system is a SAP ERP/CRM type system, but can also be any WebService compliant system, or a combination of both.
Using the Netweaver System Landscape Directory (SLD), WebDynPro can send and receive data independantly of the source. SAP ERP/CRM systems will expose their functionality using RFC-enabled BAPIs. These functions can be standard SAP delivered modules or custom developed using ABAP.
The choice of where to develop your business logic really depends on the history/strengths of your organisation. If you have a strong history of ABAP development in SAP, then it would be recommended to use ABAP for your business logic and WebDynPro for UI. If J2EE is the strong suit, use that instead.
The WebDynPro interface runs in a browser (either IE or Firefox) however there is a beta version of a WebDynPro GUI for Windows which may offer some performance improvements.

The Oracle Policy Automation family consists of three primary products:
1. Oracle Policy Modeling - desktop rule authoring and testing experience, integrated closely with Microsoft Word and Excel. Also provides the ability to author interactive decision-making interviews
2. Oracle Policy Automation - suite of runtime components for deploying rulebases created with Oracle Policy Modeling
3. Oracle Policy Automation Connector for Siebel - provides data mapping facility between Siebel and modeled rules, and integration with Siebel workflows to pass data to Oracle Determinations Server for making decisions
There are two key runtime components of Oracle Policy Automation to be aware of:
Oracle Determinations Server - SOAP-based web service that takes input data, and returns a response containing the results of applying rules to that data, and decision reports explaining how decisions were reached - this component runs on most Java Application Servers, and also on Microsoft IIS.
Oracle Web Determinations - web application for deploying interactive interviews to external and internal facing users. Also runs on most Java Application Servers and Microsoft IIS.
The product has been around for nearly 20 years - the latest major generation for over 5. There are many customers using it in high volume scenarios, integrated with Siebel and other enterprise applications.
The main thing to be aware of when using OPA with Siebel is that you need to decide whether you will write your rules and the rule data model to match the source material, and then map to the Siebel data model within other "lower level" rules (or within Siebel); or whether to just write all your rules against a data model that closely aligns with the Siebel data model. Either works well. There is good getting started help provided with the OPA Connector for Siebel for how to get Determinations Server up and running with your Siebel environment.

Sorry to say this, but you must stop rewarding your own threads. A user registered today (10/25//2007) and posted many threads and always rewarded you as thread completed. I dodn't think it is a coincidence.
If every SDN member starts playing this dirty trick, then there is no meaning to use SDN. SDN is for the people who share their good project experiences by helping other members by answering the issue.
As I mentioned before, I should take up this issue with SAP officials if this happens again.
Not only you, some other members were also recently started practicing the same trick, which is not a good thing.

We are seeking a talented Systems Engineer to be responsible for technical execution of successful projects in the Medical, Military, Transportation, Consumer Electronics and Aerospace Industries. The position will have high visibility to customers and vendors. This is a very fast paced team with close customer contact and strong career development opportunities. A large part of the position is to identify, own and drive technical design and development of test systems. You will work alongside other like-minded and equally talented engineers, and be creative in a fast-paced and flexible environment that encourages you to think outside the box.
Required
5+ years of Systems Integration experience
Experience in Design and Implementation of Test Systems, including integration
Experience in ATE usage and development
Experience in reviewing of Mechanical Fixtures
Experience in understanding the design of Circuit Boards as they relate to a total system
Experience in Taking Part in Technical Teams throughout All Phases of Project Lifecycle
Experience in Interfacing with Sub-vendors and Customers
Ability to Multitask
Comfortable Working on Various Team Sizes
Excellent Communication Skills
Desired
Requirements generation and review experience
National Instruments Hardware knowledge
LabVIEW/TestStand experience
Experience with Source Code Control (SCC)
Experience executing verification and validation for projects
Experience generating and/or reviewing cost proposals
RF Technology (DAQ, General RF Theory)
FPGA (with LabVIEW)
Professional software engineering processes and metrics experience (statement coverage, code size, reuse measurement, etc)
