Project files not linking

Hi,
I needed to go back to a project I left last summer, 10 different videos on a specific topic, and to my shock, the project files aren´t showing up in Final Cut. The original files / Event files seem to be all there and I have saved master files of the movies I made, but some were only saved at 480.
Searching the hard drive, I´m pretty sure I can see them - if they are the Render Files / High Quality Media etc...? But they´re in the Movie folder, not in FCX projects and they´re not linking to the Project Library in the editing software.
The reason for this I can think of, is that I possibly edited them in the Trial version of FCX, and now have installed the full upgrade. Or, I could simply have moved them over when I didn´t understand how it all worked (and still don´t ;-) and the link has been lost.
I assume I should just be able to transfer them in to the Project folder in Final Cut Pro...?
If it´s something to do with the Trial version - I seem to not have deleted it yet - should I start with deleting it or could that do further damage (can´t see what help it´s doing now anyway!)
I´m petrified of losing the files completely as I´m not very savvy with how the data links between files and project etc, any advice warmly welcome!!
I can send screen capture of file extensions etc if that helps clarify what files they are and how they should be linked back.
Thanks!

If your project files aren't being seen by the app, it's likely that they were moved.
If located on the start-up drive, they should be in Movies>Final Cut Projects>your project. Otherwise FCP won't see them. The actual project file is named CurrentVersion.fcp.
On a non-start-up drive, the Final Cut Projects folder needs to be at the root level for FCP to see it.
The same thing goes for the Final Cut Events folder.
So check those folders to make sure they're in the right places on your system.

  • Project file not opening in my system

I have installed a new LabVIEW 8.2 and all the drivers resourses also, i am not able to open th project file, sometimes the NIMax is not opening and keeps me installing again and again but not working properly.even after formating the system i am not able to install labview propely, there is no antivirus software installed in it. any one faced this problem earlier...

    Hi Kodeeswaran,
There could many reasons why this is happening. I would suggest the following steps.
    1) Check to see if LabVIEW is properly activated or not.
    2) Check if you are an administrator of that particular machine.
    3) Try out the steps provided in this KnowledgeBase
    4) Has the same set of CDs worked on any other machine where you've tried installing the software. There is every possibility you have a bad installation disk.
Thank you and have a nice day.

  • HT203477 Project File not Opening. 524MB?!

    Hi!
I'm running FCP X on a Retina Display MBPro with 16GB RAM. I work out from a Firewire 800 drive dock since I haven't been able to get a thunderbolt drive yet. In this drive I have several projects (5 of them where created by Plural Eyes for Syncing). One of those projects is the actual film I'm working on around 8min long. The system started giving me problems when I started editing sound effects and putting effects on clips. The film is almost to omplition when FCP crash. I restarted it again but that one project film doesn't open. Instead FCP X stays open on the splash screen and does the pin wheel. I did all the troubleshooting prosedures plus try to fix the project file thinking it was corrupted with a third party application but nothing good has happen yet. I try to open the project on a different system but when I open FCP X it opens on the previews project that was been worked in that system. When you hit to go to the Project Library it start doing the Pin Wheel all over again. I read on the internet of a similar case where the project file was 500MB big. Mine is 524MB. The person said that they wated it off living FCP open doing it's thing and after 8 hours it open. I'm actually doing the same thing right now and I still have almost 6 hours to go. My question is why did this happen and can it be prevented and how to fix the file? Also, is the Apple FCP team dealing with fixing this bugs?

  • I-Movie project file not readable!?!?!

Just did a lot of work in I-Movie 4.0 and had a good 25 min. of almost finished movie and a lot of clips stored in the clip window. This is a project I have been working on for a few weeks. Later when I went to turn I-Movie back on it said the I-Movie project file was not readable. I have never seen this happen. I don't know what I could have done? I was emptying some trash before I turned it off but there is no way I would have erased the movie. How did I corrupt the file? I can access the time line movie through the quicktime file but there are lots of missing sound and I'm missing all the extra clips. How can I get that I-Movie project file to open!?!?!?

It's usually possible to re-open a damaged project by identifying and removing any flawed clips — those that were damaged by emptying the iMovie Trash. I can usually help you do that if you send me a couple files.
This describes what files to send:

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Project Files Not Recognised by Windows

Gidday, I hope someone can help with this problem.  Premiere Pro(and After Effects) have worked perfectly on my laptop up until now. Saved PP projects are not recognised by Windows 7. I can open a new project but once I save it, it is not recognised and won't open and I can't reset either as the default programs for those files. The applications are visible in the start menu so it is very strange as all were working fine last week and nothing has been done to the laptop in the meantime.
Anyone else come up against this problem?
    Thanks
    Steve

Steve, I just had this happen as well.
I used the Programs section of the Windows Control Panel to initiate an uninstall.  On Adobe's Unistall setup screen (or whatever it may be called) I selected to uninstall PP only. When it was done I restarted and then installed PP only.  And then it was back to "normal."

  • MFX Files not linking issues in the sequence using Premiere CC Pro

We are using Panasonic P-2 cards and the Infocus to capture video as MFX files. This creates a series of  files which are linked via an XML file. In Premiere 6 and earlier, these files were linked (approx. 2 min. of video each) as one stream - only one of the files were necessary to use within the program. Using Premiere CC, this feature does not seem to work as before. Are we missing something in the settings, or does this version not support MFX files as before?

    It's not normal on Windows.

  • How do I revert to replaced audio files being saved with the project file, *not* with the original audio files?

In the latest release, when you send an audio clip to Audition, the newly created audio clip - which was previously saved in the same folder as the project file - is saved next to the original audio file.
Makes sense, but for reasons to boring to go into, it's a major headache for my workflow, because it means combing through folders to find the files, instead of having them all in once place.
So how to I turn this off and revert to those files being saved next to the project file?

    Hey Steve,
You'll want to connect your phone to your computer and sync it in iTunes. You can read more about it here:

  • CS6 Audition file not linked with Premiere Project

I'm a newb to Audtion and I'm using CS6 Master Suite on a Windows 7 machine.
When in Premiere and I  "Edit in Audtition" , then "Save" my edit in Audition the new (edited) audio is not reflected in the Premiere project. Instead I find it in a folder called  "Adobe Audition Interchange". Shouldn't it automatically replace the Audio file in the Premiere project it originated from?
Is there a setting I'm missing in Audition? Should I be saving the File somewhere else?
When I've worked with Soundbooth in earlier versions of Premiere the edited version was immediately inserted into the Premiere Project.
    Thanks for any input

    Hank
Please try this conventional route from the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor slideshow to opening that slideshow in Premiere Elements 11 project.
In the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor, go to Output and select Edit with Premiere Elements Editor. That command will put the slideshow in a video format on the Timeline (.psess file) and at the same time put a folder with the project assets as well as a copy of the .psess in Project Assets.
If you need to do additional edits of the .psess (video) on the Timeline, then you right click the Timeline .psess file, and select Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow to do just that.
If the slideshow opens in Premiere Elements 11 Editor with black borders, then you set the Premiere Elements project preset beforehand manually (File Menu/New/Project) and then Output the slideshow from the Elements Organizer slideshow editor.
Have you been there and done that? If not, please give it a try and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Project 1 not linking to project 2

Good morning. I have a project that I am linking to a second
project. At first it seemed to do it fine, but then I made changes
on the second project and relinked it via url. When I preview the
project, it links to the old version of project 2 and not the new
one. Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks.
    Captivating 1

    Hi there captivating1
The only real explanation for this is that you have multiple
copies of the Captivate 2 output. You may have added to it and
created fresh output, but my guess is that you are actually
pointing from your Captivate 1 project to a location you forgot to
copy the Captivate 2 output to.
I'd be double-checking where the files are.

  • Project Files Not Deleted From Server

Thank you in advance if you can help.
Application: Robohelp6/Server6 and earlier versions. Don't
    know about 7 or 8.
    Output: Webhelp Pro
Background: Whenever I delete a topic from the publisher and
publisher a project to our server, the htm file for that topic is
not deleted. I started calling them "ghost" files because they
should be dead and gone. Some users access these files following a
direct URL hence providing them with outdated information. They
don't normally appear in the application search results but
hyperlinks to them work until the file is removed.
I've tried different publishing options to get them removed.
Check for delete files and republish entire project. The only way I
found to get rid of them is to delete the file from the server
manually. Another option is to delete the project from the server
    and republish everything.
Question: Can anyone explain what is going on and if there is
something I can to make sure they are automatically deleted when
    publishing.

    Welcome to our community, David
I don't believe anything in RoboHelp publishing will actually
ever delete files. It's my experience that any file that needs to
be removed from the server has to be accomplished manually.
So I know this calls into question what exactly does the
option "Check for deleted files" actually DO?" Am I right?
Here's the deal. Upon publishing, a list is created. The
first round takes longest as it is also creating the list. When you
publish again, files are compared to the list.
Need updating? Nope. Skip it and move on.
Need updating? Yes. Copy and replace the file.
The option to check for deleted files slows the process. The
    process then becomes:
Need updating? Nope. Does it still exist on server? Yes. Skip
    it and move on.
Need updating? Yes. Copy and replace the file.
Need updating? Nope. Does it still exist on server? Nope.
Copy the file and move on.
Hopefully that helps you better understand what is happening.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Files not linking correctly

So kind of a weird issue. I have a folder called "Project" inside that folder is the indesign file then a "links" folder that contatins jpgs/eps etc...
Now when I decided to copy the entire "Project" folder to the desktop then opened the indesign file in there... for some reason all the links were still pointing to the orginal version instead of the files links in the duplicated version. On co workers computer this isnt' happening but mine it is? Anyone have a clue what's going on here??? Any help wold be awesome!!!

I think you all have missed the point here.
Sure, you can relink to folder, or you can package and have ID rewrite the links to the package folder, but that has nothing to do with HOW links work. If you COPY a .indd file to a new folder it keeps the same links, so neither of those suggestions will make any difference on the same machine UNLESS the link paths EMBEDDED in the file cannot be found.
Packaging works for MOVING a project to a new location because it takes the links along, and since the old locations are no longer accessible ID starts to look for them in the current directory. Relink to folder would only work if the the relinked folder also happened to be in the same directory as the ID file, and the two are moved together (essentially doing an artificial "package"). As long as ID is able to see links in the original locations, it will use them. On the same machine, either option can be used to create a copy with new link locations (and package is easier), but if you copy the folder again to another location on the same machine you just recreate the problem.

  • 10.0.9 to 10.11 update issues - re: project files not updating

#1 - I understand the function of libraries/events/projects in the 10.1+ version of Final Cut X, so this is not a case of not being able to identify projects contained within an event.
FCPX simply refuses to update projects created in an older version (which is unfortunate).
    Events are imported without issue.
Is there some type of workaround?  I am just getting an error that quits cancels the update process without giving me reason.
40 minutes of searching through google lead me to posing this question.
    Thanks

    Solved the issue:
I had multiple folders/subfolders which contained all of my old projects (this hierarchy was created through pre 10.1 file system organization).  the point is I just moved all of the project folders to the "Final Cut Projects" folder at the root of the drive and all was fine.

  • Proxy files not linking in server

Couple issues going on here. I added a final cut pro project to the server yesterday and the Server began compressing all the files. After thumbnails and poster frames, I am only doing edit proxies currently because I need them sooner. I saw the compressions going in the batch monitors so I let it rul over night. The next day, after 14 hours of compressing, the files began failing, most due to Quicktime Error -50 (whatever that is). I looked on the server and noticed that a lot of the files never created thumbnails and none had Edit Proxies. I opened the Edit Proxy package and searched for the files and found the edit proxies manually, but things just are linking back to Final Cut server. Anyone see this before?

Try processing the problematic files manually in Compressor and see if they fail there too.
Check your disk space and permissions.

    Rachel
I am very confused with the answers that you have gotten to your question. So, all, show me the error of my ways as I respond to what I think Rachel asked.
Rachel, you say that you are working with a Sony DVD Camcorder. DVD Camcorder's record to a DVD disc in the camcorder, not to a hard drive in the camcorder (like in Hard Drive Camcorder). So this is the typical scenario for getting your video into Premiere Elements in that situation. You did not mention what version of Premiere Elements that you are using, so I will assume Premiere Elements 7 for now.
Place your DVD disc from the camcorder in your computer's DVD burner drive tray. Open Premiere Elements 7, Get Media, and the the category "DVD (Camcorder or PC DVD Drive)". In the Media Downloader that opens use the Advanced Form of the dialog to import the VOBs from the DVD disc into Premiere Elements that is set with a project preset (new project dialog) = NTSC DV Standard or Widescreen, depending the camcorder setting for standard or widescreen. (Use the PAL counterpart if you are in a PAL region).
That works for most users quality wise. For some it does not. Then the typical route is to use the free program MPEG Streamclip to convert the DVD content to DV AVI. Then you bring the DV AVI verison into Premiere Elements (project preset as described above) with Get Media/Files & Folders.
    http://www.squared5.com/
    That is it.
If other than that, please go into further detail brand and model of camcorder as well as version of Premiere Elements in use.
