Project hangs on opening - 'UPDATING CONNECTIONS'

Has anyone an answer to why DVDSp is hanging whilst opening my project. The progress bar goes up as elements are loaded by it hangs on Updating Connections. Worked yesterday... not today.
All suggestions welcome. Thanks

  • Some cs4 projects hang when opening in cs5 versions

    Greetings,
I upgraded from CS4 Master to CS5. I am able to open some of my CS4 authored projects in the CS5 versions and others do not.
Specifically I am in after effects right now trying to open a project created in AE CS4. It said, "gotta convert" went to 90% and then stalled.
Where should I look for info/troubleshooting?
    Thank You
P.S. I also had this problem with a Premiere Pro project (lots of images) in premiere pro

Without more info about what fooatge and effects are involved or a sample project that isn't going anywhere. Too many variables.

  • SqlDev3.0 prod - Conn randomly hangs during opening, mainly with 11g RAC

Hi, i have been having this issue since i moved to 3.0 PROD version from EA version.
Now and then, same connection hangs during opening of connection, mainly with 11gR2 RAC databases. Sometimes it works with no changes. I don't see this problem with 10g RAC or non-RAC connection. Connection does not even make it to listener log file, so it looks like java thread gets into some hitch locally.
I wonder if somebody has found solution for this.
btw, with EA, i did not have problem with same connection. so far, i have been killing the sqldeveloper thru' task manager and then open it again (sometimes couple times, before i get thru').
    Thanks

i can not use auto update from tool itself as we dont have admin rights on laptops(update feature is not able to contact download center of Oracle). so we use standalone releases of SQLDeveloper. How can i download this patch and apply it? do you have link to the patch? I did some search, it was not giving me anything useful.
    I am using Version 3.0.04, Build MAIN-04.34 (From Help->About).

  • Project file, and autosaves, hang when opening, even if media offline

    Scary problem.
Earlier today I had an issue with Compressor, it repeated unexpectedly quit when trying to launch. So, I reinstalled it and ended up reinstalling from my FCS1 disc. I then realised I had reverted all my studio apps to their studio 1.0 versions, so then ran install from my FCS2 disc. This brought all apps back up to date and I succesfully ran software update.
All apps now launch without problems, except for one project file which hangs at 37% during the 'reading project' stage of opening it.
I'm pretty sure its not down to project file corruption as the same thing happens when I try and open any of the autosaves.
I've also taken all my media drives offline and tried but the same thing happens, but instead of hanging at 37% it hangs at 30%.
Final cut pro is semi-responsive when it hangs, menus open etc, but quit doesn't work and clicking cancel in the 'reading project' window doesn't work. Only way out is to force quit at this point.
I have also tried removing the /Users/<myaccount>/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data folder but that makes no difference.
Are there any files that could be lurking from doing the round trip back to an older version? Not sure why this would only be effecting one project file though. Other recent projects open fine.
Ever-so slightly desperate now! Hopefully someone can help. Many thanks.

Do you know whether it was built in CS5?
The Premiere project it is linked to must be CS5. (I think this is what I found when using CS3, CS4, and CS5 projects with Encore CS5.)
Try opening the PR project in Premiere, then while open, open the Encore project.

  • Project Professional 2010 and pwa hangs when opening a linked project from PWA on Project Server 2010

When I open a linked project in Project Professional 2010 from PWA, Project Professional 2010 hangs with the "Links Between Projects ..." dialog box open.  Unable to move or close the dialog box.  Unable to move or close Project Professional
2010.  The PWA tab on internet explorere is frozen and unable to access although other tabs in IE are accessible.  End up having to reboot to close down project or force the process to end.  I suspect a hidden dialog box is the culprit maybe
the scheduling conflict dialog box but am unable to access or switch and cannot confirm that there is another dialog box.
Has anybody else experienced this problem?
    Thanks,
    Julie

I have seen it hang when trying to open a project schedule even with no external links.
Project 2013 Pro, Link to schedule is on a PWA on a Project 2007 server.
If Project 2013 is open before clicking on the link, there is a long delay and the project schedule opens up in the web tab where the link was selected. If Project 2013 is not open, it just hangs and has to be shut down via the task manager.
No idea why. I can create a link to the shared volume and that works OK. But if I actually try to open MS Project by clicking on the link to a .mpp file it never opens in MS Project.

Firefox won't open/connect tp the internet. Explorer opens and connects. Windows firewall turned off. No other antivirus program running. Happened when I downloaded new Firefox update.

I had the same problem when i dl-ed a new anti-virus softward, but what I did help me reconnect Firefox again!
    Here is what I did,
Go to open firefox browser-->option-->advanced-->network-->settings-->and change it to auto-detect proxy settings for this network!
It worked for you, hope it will work for you too =)!

Can you provide some background information please?
Does this happen when you run the app from within jdev or on a stand alone server?
Have you checked that the jdbc connection you used to build the app is correct (username, password and other connection data)?
Is this an ADF rich faces application?
Do you use jdbc url or jdbc data source?

  • JDeveloper 11.1.2.3 hangs when opening project from JDeveloper 11.1.1.6

Hello! I have a problem here which I can't solve. I also asked this question here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14365031/jdeveloper-11-1-2-3-hangs-when-opening-project-from-jdeveloper-11-1-1-6/14369211#14369211 . The whole story in short. I have a JavaEE client-server project in JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, where it works like a charm. Recently I had to upgrade JDeveloper version to the latest 11.1.2.3. The first problem was that the standard procedure of migrating project from the older version of JDeveloper to the newer one did not help: IDE was hanging forever all the time with no apparent (for me) reason, log file was silent about that. Then I tried another way: I just created the same project from the beginning and put there all necessary source files, libraries, set project properties etc. Still nothing, but now found the way to obtain a kind of error at least. I ran C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev.exe from the command line and got the following (e.g. when I started running debug):
    Jan 16, 2013 8:52:09 PM oracle.ideimpl.runner.StarterFactoryDescriptionImpl logError
SEVERE: Incorrect hash-structure value in starter-factory definition
    Jan 16, 2013 8:52:10 PM oracle.ideimpl.runner.StarterFactoryDescriptionImpl logError
SEVERE: Incorrect hash-structure value in starter-factory definition
But I don't know what could be the next step... Could anyone help me? Thanks in advance for your attention!

    Hi,
not sure if you have a support contract or work for Oracle. In both cases the best option is to file a bug (service request)

  • Help! Updating FCP from 10.0.3 to 10.0.5-Project will not open.

    So here is the deal:
I asked an intern to cut an small video for a friend.  We loaded her computer up with FCP 10.0.3.  She started the project on that.  She upgraded to 10.0.5 over the course of the summer and completed the project. She never experience any issues opening her project files.
I copied her files over to my comuter running 10.0.3. They wouldn't not open and it told me to upgrade. I upgraded both FCP and my OS System.  Now that I am running all of the latest updates, NONE of her project files will open on my FCP.  What is going on????  She is leaving for College this morning and I am stuck wtih a bunch of useless files.  Anyone know what the issue could be?
    My OS is 10.7.4
    FCP 10.0.5

Also, I will add, that I have not worked in FCP since version 7 and I have always hosted the files safely on my computer so there weren't any linking issues.  Please let me know if I didn't copy all of the necessary files in order for it to open as well.
I copied her working folders over to my Desktop.  And it looks like this:
Luckily she exported several versions of the video before she left.
When I click on the Project file I get this error:
Originally, when I was running 10.0.3, it informed me that I had to upgrade.  Now, it's just not able to be opened.
Am I missing some kind of ghost file that I didn't copy over from her computer?
    Thank you!!!!

  • Final Cut Pro X hangs upon opening due to large project. Way to access previous project Version?

I'm running FCPX on what I assume is close to the bare minimum... low end 2011 Mac Mini, upgraded to 8GB RAM. I was working on a project, not too long, but a lot of clips, and for one near the end I decided to "zoom out" to a sort of tile collage of a couple hundred clips (each 1080p24). Whoops. FCPX hung pretty much all night, and after a Force Quit, the app now hangs upon starting up again.
I tried Apple's suggestion for hiding events and projects that aren't being used at the moment, to try and lighten the load, but I guess the current project with that one short clip of those hundreds of simultaneous clips is, on it's own, still too much. FCPX still hangs upon opening, once the project shows up in the project tray. The rotating beach ball mocks me.
I noticed a backup file in the Project folder, but there's only one file and it's not dated old enough to not have the troublesome clip. I can't access Versions because I can't do anything upon opening FCPX except Force Quit. Is there another way I can access a previous Version in order to not resort to starting the whole project over from scratch?

There is only one backup file - I think it gets over-written every fifteen minutes so unless you have some other backup, you'll have to resort to inginuity.
Try moving the Media to a temporary folder - that way the Project will open with disconnected clips. You can then re-link them a few at a time - leaving out the ones which you believe are causing the problem.
Then duplicate the project and in the new project, concentrate on the complex clip - ditch all the rest and work on getting that clip back up. Then you could export that clip as one movie file and import it back into the project.
Always keep regular duplicate projects - they are your backup - or, do as I do, and clone your working external HD to another of the same size and speed.

  • IMovie '09 hang when opening project

I have a large project in iMovie I was working on. When adding a song from the media browser to a clip I got the "spinning Beach Ball" where iMovie hangs until I had to "Force quit". Reopening iMovie in order to edit the project hangs (spinning beach ball). I have seen multiple posts on the web and even in older post here; but have not found a working solution. Following the advice of older posts I have:
    Rebooted
    Repaired permissions / fixed errors
    Trashed iMovie plist
Removed video clips from iPhoto (to reduce iPhoto video file size)
Used time machine to revert back to previous edit
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Apple- are you listening? Anyone from Apple Support care to take a crack at it?

Do you know whether it was built in CS5?
The Premiere project it is linked to must be CS5. (I think this is what I found when using CS3, CS4, and CS5 projects with Encore CS5.)
Try opening the PR project in Premiere, then while open, open the Encore project.

  • Opening Printer Connection Hanging

All of the sudden I cannot print.
Printer is connected directly to Time Capsule and then wireless to my MBP.
    It was working fine yesterday.
So far I have deleted and added the printer.
Before I go any further does anyone have suggestions?
    Thank you
    Michael

I've deleted the printer, renamed it, added it again. But no luck.
My MPB can see the printer it just seems to hang when trying to connect to it.
It prints fine from the PC which is hardwire networked.
I'm going to try trouble shooting the printer now.
On the PC I restarted the Printer Spooler service.
Then I simply unplugged the Printer for 5 minutes.
On the MBP I again deleted and reinstalled the printer which it found no problem. It may have updated the drivers at the same time.
I tried printing and noticed that it defaulted to "Last printer Used" I changed this to the recently added printer and it worked.
Not sure which of these made the difference.

  • Dreamweaver hangs when opening

Running DW MX 2004, with updater 7.0.1 applied, on a Sony PC
with Win XP, DW hangs when opening. I have waited as long as 10
minutes to see it it every responds, and it doesn't.
I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and terminate the application. When
    re-opening, it opens normally.
Not connected to a network, site files on local C drive.
It seems to have started happening after applying the 7.0.1
    updater.
Anyone have any solutions to this?

    Hi JillTW,
DW 7 had some serious time lags. Search the
    Macromedia.Dreamweaver groups on
Google's groups for slow DW and look for postings over a year
    old. The fixes
they discuss may help solve your lockup problem.
If you are working on a large site, 10 minutes might not be
    enough time for
DW 7 to resolve cache issues. Look at your Task Manager to
    see if it is
working (high cpu usage on Dreamweaver.exe) or not
    responding. Even if it is
not responding a high CPU usuage may mean it is in progress
    and just
    ignoring the keyboard/mouse.
Also, you might want to try to clear the site cache (or just
    check its
size - a little one should not take long to process even if
    corupt) before
starting DW. Adobe tells how to remove the cache here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=5989f7f4
Look for the cache in: C:\Documents and
    Settings\<user>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\SiteCache
    The file is named: {yoursitenamehere}.dws
I suggest moving it to another folder for safe keeping until
    you know if
    this is the problem.
Upgrading to DW8 is a major improvement in speed.
    Best of luck,
    Alan C

  • AppleFileServer process keeps hanging - stalls clients' AFP connections

Since moving to SL Server (first used on 10.6.4, now 10.6.6), Mac clients have been complaining of spinning beachballs when accessing the server. This appears to have gradually got worse over time, as more of the clients have been upgraded from Tiger & Leopard to SL (we're now running 6 Tiger, 2 Leopard and 8 SL clients). It's driving us nuts, as it happens frequently to all users (all designers), several times daily.
There seems to be no common trigger from the client side for the symptoms, i.e. not restricted to any one client, any one app being used, nor any particular action on their part. It can happen while opening, saving, copying or moving files from/to the server, but very intermittently, so hard to reproduce on demand.
Indeed the same hang happens on the server when I'm the only one connected to it at night, from just about any of the client Macs, whether they are SL, Leopard or Tiger. If I do a test file copy from/to the server, the AFS process will often stick at some point, though not always, even when using the same test files/folders each time. Have tried various different folder/file combinations during the tesing, with pretty much no difference in behaviour, nor any consistency.
Having searched the web, I can't turn up any hard explanation for what's happening, nor a fix. Others out there are having all sorts of hassles with AFP, SMB, etc, but all in different configs & flavours it seems.
Anyway, I did finally manage to find a correlation on the server... when any of the clients hangs during open, save or copy, the AppleFileServer process on the server shows as "stuck" in the output of the 'top' command (top -o state). There are a couple of other processes that stick sometimes, but they have no obvious hit on performance or stability (these are usually launchd, DirectoryServices & msd, and no correlation to the AFS stick as far as I've seen).
Whilst 'stuck' like this, the AFS process CPU load mostly shows as 0.0%, and eventually frees itself up, with AFP then working normally again for all users. So, there are no server or client crashes, but it can lock up for anything from a few seconds to several minutes at a time, and perhaps 30-50 times a day, during which time no-one can load, save or browse files on the server
Am now very close to doing a full re-install of SL, though I doubt it will help, as the problem's been there since I upgraded the server to a new XServe with SL 10.6.4. But first I was wondering if anyone here might have the same/similar problem, and throw any more light on it?
The Macs are used on a corporate WAN, with Active Directory logins (but the problem still happens when connecting with the server Admin a/c). Networked Home folders are not being used - all users have managed user Homes locally. Users are located in both London and Amsterdam, but the problem occurs for all.
Interestingly, am seeing similar client hangs when testing with SMB as an alternative to AFP (but didn't try that with the top command yet), so I'm suspecting this might be related to the networking layer of things, rather than AFP specifically? Not exactly a safe assumption I know, especially as thus far I can't even tell whether it's originating from the clients or the server side of things. I'd put my money on a bugged AppleFileServer app though. We didn't get this nonsense when everything was Tiger, on the same network as now.
Short of running with Tiger on old hardware (simply not an option for us), we're stuck with SL. Countless other (mostly) recurring errors showing up in the logs (as per usual with any Mac OS), but none with so vicious a payload as this. Now desperate for a solution, but little spare time to find one.
Any suggestions, or requests for more info, please let me know. Have already tried numerous avenues, including AFP access/error logs, tcpdump, Google, etc. etc., but no clear indicator I could find.
I'm no Mac geek btw, so please be gentle!

    Hi,
You are not alone with this.
We have an OD master, separate file server (AFP with Raid attached with 2000+ users, 250 mac clients and on average 100 clients connected to network homes at a time.
All caches are redirected locally, time machine and spotlight searching disabled on the servers.
Running on 10.6.4, and working with no updates or changes nicely until...
Since December (after a clean install in July) we have really noticed the well documented (but not fixed) AFP crashes. It seems to occur for us when we have a few users using InDesign CS3 ( i have no proof of this but there is a pattern emerging). Up until december we had the most stable apple server setup i have known in 5 years, whereas afp used to just lock up completely, now it just restarts itself upon error.
Apple Premium support recommended updating to 10.6.6 before they would support us on this.
10.6.6 made it worse (slower logon times and even more crashes). Eventually they recommended to stop using Adobe programmes (in an art and design college).
We are currently testing with mobile home directories on this setup.
We have been using a similar setup (smaller though) on our music tech campus but with mobile homes, with great success for over a year now, although there are only about 50 concurrent logons on average there.
Well worth looking into as i have no faith in apple fixing this as most of the new server users are using very small setups with 10 clients max (home users with mac minis??).
I will keep you posted on how i get on because this really is a show stopper for us several times a week and it is really embarrassing for me to say to the customers i dont know what to do.
    Regards,
    Kev

  • Updating Connections DVD Studio Pro Trouble

When trying to open all of my DVD Studio Pro projects. In the "Loading Project" window, it just sits on Updating Connections. I just did the Apple Pro update yesterday. And today I can not open projects. I am thinking that has to do with the problem. Has anyone else found a fix for this?
    Thanks

Actually the problem is officially "ProKit 6.0.1" update that they release a couple weeks ago.
We discovered this on another forums thread. I forgot to post the answer here.
You need to get a copy of Prokit 5.0 then replace the 6.0.1 folder with the older version. Use the directions at this link.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/restoringan_older_version_ofprokit.html
I did it on my laptop. And everything corrected it self without having to do any reinstall or anything weird. I literally just copied the ProKit 5.0 folder from my desktop after I reformatted it. Went to my laptop and deleted the 6.0.1 folder and put in the older version. Then everything worked fine and I haven't had any trouble since.
    Good luck
    PS
FYI, I've found that the Genius's they have working at the Apple store are anything but. When I was having the same problem, they couldn't figure it out either.
Of course they are the same group that said that I had to buy the expensive $150 copy of Snow Leopard with the new iLife to upgrade my desktop from Tiger. When all I really needed was the $29 upgrade disk.
