Project Link to Grants

Freinds,
Any idea how the projects and the grants are linked through backend tables???
Appreciate your response
Thanks,
Raghav

Hi,
This is a very generic question and probably difficult to answer specifically. What I can say is that for each of the functionalities that are available in Grants, if there are separate tables available in Grants then those are used, else the Projects tables are used to store the Grants transaction data.
Some of the popular Grants tables i can recollect are: gms_encumbrance_items_all, gms_bc_packets, gms_balances, gms_awards_all, gms_award_distributions, gms_summary_project_fundings, gms_burden_components, gms_event_intersect, gms_exp_type_act_cost, gms_project_types, etc.
Thanks,

  • Sub conttacting purchase order with Project link

    dear all,
    i have a confusion.
when we create normal sub con PO, it works fine. but when i create  it w r t project link (account assignment Q & item catagory L)
at the time of goods issue against purchase order it show error :
no materials available for this PO.
why system behave like that ?
how to resolve this problem ?

    Hi
Normal subcontract the consumption of components happenes by 543-o movement type. When you give account assignment Q in PO the consumption happenes via 543 Q. Which is not a vendor stock, it is a project stock. So system will not allow you to send components to vendor via 541. This is normall scenario in Make to order scenario.
What you need to do is, Go to material masters of compnenets and MRP-4 view give "individual.coll" field as 2 that is collective requirement only. Then system will consume stock from 543-o. So it will allow to issue material using 541 for subcontracting PO.

  • Alternatives to Cross Project Links

    Hi,
Cross Project Links (External Tasks) is an out-of-the-box feature that allows to create dependencies between workplans.
The basic functionality has not changed from Project Server 2003 (or ever in earlier versions) to Project Server 2013, including Project Online.
Unfortunately it would be an understatement to say that it is not the ideal tool for creating dependencies of this sort.  For example, There is no mechanism to preview and approve schedule changes (except the notorious "Links Between Project"
form), creating a dependency requires opening the all related workplans, there are many bugs associate to that, and this list goes on.
I'm looking for a 3rd party add-on that provides an alternative to Cross Project Links. What other tools would you recommend?
p.s. I've heard of 'TPG ProjectLink'. Had anyone tried it?

    Dominic,
    I have to be honest
that I'm familiar only with the deliverables feature on Project Server 2007, and not with any updates on 2010 and 2013 versions.
    I have invested many
hours in investigation of this tool and read documentation by Microsoft and bloggers, and reach the conclusion that this is not the right tool for me.
    As far as I know,
the deliverables feature has not been changed dramatically in the 2013 version, therefore I'm looking the alternatives.

  • Project Lite users cannot see Project link on Office365 toolbar

Our Project Lite users do not see the PROJECT link in the Office365 toolbar.
All other roles can see the link - these have either Project Online subscription or Project Pro for Project Online subscription.
    I have verified the following:
These users have Project Lite and SharePoint online licenses assigned in the Office365 portal - user license area
We are using Project Server permissions mode - with a custom Team Members group - that maps to the OOB Team Members group and My Task category permissions.   There are no custom category permissions set on the Resource- only custom Team group
    membership
We even shared the PWA site with the members (Team Members for Project Web App)
We are using ADSynch to synch users to the custom Team Members group via an O365 group.
We are using the default \PWA - it is the only instance of PWA in the Office365 environment (E3 subscription
These users can access the PWA by entering the URL in their browser - they just cannot see the Project link on the 0365 menu bar.
Note:  The Office365 SharePoint online administrators have created a custom master page - but the PROJECT menu item is rendering for non-Project Lite licensees.
Any ideas on the cause or how to get Project Lite users to see the PROJECT link on the O365 toolbar?
    LB

    Hello,
Please can you confirm they are using the correct URL?
It should be along the lines of https://<Company_Name>.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/
I ask you to check this as I have seen previously users not seeing the Project link when using a different URL.

  • Cross Project Linking

I am familiar with creating a Master Plan and linking milestones between sub projects and the master plan but can a single Project Manager create a link to another project plan without creating a master plan shell to facilitate the actions required?
Is the only way to do this is to add the filepath of the other project (if known) into the predecessors or successorrs column or is there a smarter way?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
As soon as the project manager can open (in edit mode) the 2 projects, he just has to open a temporary empty project, insert the 2 projects, link the milestones, close the temporary master project without saving it but saving the 2 projects. A more tedious
way as you said is to type directly the file path if known.
    Hope this helps,

  • How many cross-project links are too many for dynamic Master-Subproject plan?

    Hello
We currently have a dynamic master-subproject plan and resource pool, with 8 workstream plans and approximately 150 program milestones in the master.  We are considering creating cross-project links to the 150 program milestones - from the master
into the sub-projects.  I have read that it is best practice to keep cross-project links to a minimum.  Is what we are considering too much?  Will 150 links from master to sub-projects risk a corrupted plan?
    Thanks in advance...
    Art

Yes the cross-project links also use old DDE technology which is where the file corruption risk is. Move, rename, overwrite or store on a WAN and the file corruption dice roll. Its when not if, but you can be lucky and survive many months.
What do I do? If Project Online/Server and its deliverables feature is not available then being a bit of a VBA whiz:
I copy all milestones weekly to SQL Server using a VBA macro.
In other projects I have a macro to select one of those milestones and record teh project number, title and task unique id into a text field.
I then have a macro that finds all tasks with data from step 2 and reads the latest date from SQL Server and updates the task start date.
This works perfectly and has zero corruption risk as the only thing I store is text data in a custom field. I've supported some large SAP programmes with 10 files and many thousands of tasks using this technique. Oh, yet another macro creates static (so
no links) masters each week for reporting purposes from all sub-projects.
Art, with the number of files and links it might be time to experiment with Project Online.

  • Metadata and the After Effects Project Link

Here's one that could be very useful - when I render, I always leave the Project Link choice turned on. That way, if I lose track of the project I created the output from, I can always open the clip from within AE, choosing Project, and it finds the project based upon the embedded link. Great so far...
What I want to be able to do is view the Metadata on the Project Link within Bridge, or in something else which will view Metadata, so that I don't have to open the clip in AE as a Project, then shut it down and open the project in the regular way, since opening as a project collapses the whole project into a folder, which I find inconvenient. Does any of this make sense? The Project Link has to live somewhere in the Metadata, but poring over it in Bridge, I have yet to find the project name anywhere in the "usual" Metadata. I assume the Project Link must be embedded, since there are no sidecars in my AE folders. Thanks...

    Mylenium -
I found the information I needed - this is a huge one for me, since I organize all of my projects using Bridge - I just discovered that in Bridge, if you go into the XMP Metadata by right-clicking the .mov file, the window which opens has a Tab view - the second from the end is Advanced. If you then roll open the Schema entry, under creatorAtom:aeProjectLink (struct), lo and behold, there sits the project name with the full path!
This is huge, in terms of being able to pinpoint the project which created the final output on my system.

  • Dynamic web project link absent in Eclipse Junos

I cant see the option of Dynamic web project link in Eclipse Junos.
From where i can download the plugin for the same.

    Hi,
while your question is not necessarily a Java related question, if you downloaded the Eclipse Juno J2EE you should have the option in File->New->DynamicWebProject.

  • Does Project Manufacturing and Grant Accounting is part of Prj Suite?

    Hi Dina / Experts,
Can you please explain whether module Project Manufacturing and Grants Accounting is part of Oracle Project Suite?

Grants Accounting is technically part of the Projects Suite but Project Manufacturing is not. You will find information on Proj Manufacturing in the Discrete Manufacturing area on the Oracle website.

  • Project link when using AME to render AE comp?

Adobe has suggested that we NOT use AE render queue to output file to MXF OP1a AVC-100 due to a bug in the format size . I rely on using the Project Link function when I did use the AE render queue. How do I get that function when using AME to export?

That's not something that you can do with AME currently.
If you rendered a master file from After Effects and then transcoded it in AME, you should be able to preserve the metadata from the master in the transcoded file output from AME.  Let me check to see if that works...

We recently signed up for Office 365 and Project Online.  That adds a link "Projects" in the top nav, but when I click on it, I get error "Sorry, this site isn't available right now. Give us few minutes and try again. If it still does
not work, contact your administrator." Any ideas?

    Hi Darwaish,
How long ago did you sign up?  We have seen some issues where it has take a while or needed re-provisioning.  I'd suggest you follow the support options from the page
https://portal.microsoftonline.com/Support/SupportOverview.aspx# - the right hand section and the "Contact Support..." option.  We can look into this and get you sorted.

  • Transferring Video Files without Losing Project Links

I know this issue must have been addressed in the archives, but I can't seem to find the specific issue.  Hope someone can help.  The online manual is no help.
My C: HDD is filling up with video files, and I'd like to move all video files (and future files) to a new 2TB disk that I have installed dedicated for that purpose.  I intend to leave Premiere Elements 4.0 and my .prel projects in my existinng C: drive.
How do I do this safely, without losing the links between the raw video files and clips inserted in my project??  Thanks.

the Archiver seems straightforward, but I will then have my .prel project on a drive different from the Premiere program.  Somewhere I read that this is possibly unstable.  Any opinions?
Actually, this is preferred. On a two, physical HDD setup, allocation like this is best: Not sure where you saw a rec. to have the Project on the same drive as the program.
C:\ OS, program files, and maybe the Windows Virtual Memory (Page File)*
D:\ Project, Assets and Scratch Disks
If one has a 3 HDD I/O, this would be the best
C:\ OS, program files, and maybe the Windows Virtual Memory (Page File)
    D:\ Project, and Scratch Disks
    E:\ Assets
    * A bit of experimentation might indicate that the Page File does better on another HDD, as far as ultimate performance is concerned. I have two different Page File locations, on two different machines. On one, splitting the statically managed Page File over C:\ and D:\ yielded the best performance, while on another computer, locating it fully on E:\ was best. Just depends, though locating on C:\ will usually be pretty good. For video-editing, I do like to statically manage the Page File, as is explained in this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,

  • Help! Lost  working project link from P CS4 to AE CS4--files missing

Bear with my ineptness. I am trying to solve a Dynamic Linking to AE Prob. Something has gone south, no doubt do to my stupidity.
I had a project with ten Ntsc DV AVI clips in a sequence in CS4, and I used the "replace with comp from AE" feature to color correct each one in succession in AE. All went well. Corrections showed up as they should on the Premier timeline--looked great. No problems.
Then, and this may be the mistake, got a call from a client who needed an asset pronto. Shut down both Premiere and AE, saving the projects. Never done that before with a linked project!
Came back started both back up. AE said 10 files were missing since the last save--colorbars instead! Nothing had been touched or moved. In Premiere, no messages, just ten clips with colorbars!
Did I blow this project by shutting down Premiere and AE?
    Can I salvage it anyway?
    Much thanks in advance.

    Thanks,
I read about your struggles in a search. My problem is a bit different since these were just segments of one single clip cut up in Premiere, and each segment was color corrected in AE.
I think I blew it by closing AE and Premiere before rendering each of the segments and saving each as a separate clip.
Next time I will know better. By the way, I have had no problem doing this and saving the corrected segments before shutting down.

  • Project link in workflow task in PS 2013

    Hi Folks,
I just created new WF using SPD and every thing goes fine.
I just wondering, when approver receives a tasks to take an action how would he/she know what project needs approval, except for the name. Meaning how can the user access details of project  before approving it?
Following are workflows task and how I can get a link to that particular project for which the task has been generated.
    Thanks, Kashif

I think that no possible with task text description, imho.
Maybe you can used own html for preview workitem - on workflow step goto Preview workitem and press Demo func modules. Select SWL0_PREVIEW_DEMO_HTML, for example. Now you can copyied this FM into own Z* and place static URL into FM body.
If URL must be dynamic - try create URL like SOFM object (FM SO_OBJECT_CREATE) and attach this BO instance to your workitem using SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD. This procedure can be placed in backround step of workflow.
