Today I wanted to open an old (2006) iDVD projectfile (.dvdproj) with iDVD 7.1 and I got a messagebox of the program which said:
"Project Locked by Other User
The project America del Sur is locked by the user casper (user ID ###): 2006-04-30 20:253:34 +2000.
The project can't be opened at this time
<OK>"
Does anybody knows what I can do about it to open my project. I want to burn a new DVD of this project. Please help me

Hello,
I just re-opened my external hard drive after a month vacation from it and tried to open my IDVD file only to get an error message:
Project locked by other user:
The project ZOOOM demo reel 10-07 is locked by the user Video (used ID 501): 2007-12-19 10:42:27-600
The project can't be opened at this time.
I went into the file's "get info" and unlocked everything to no avail. I'm puzzled. I have never seen this before. Any help would be great.

Control click on the icon of your external drive and select Get Info. Check the box that says, "Ignore Ownership on this Volume." See if that solves it.
Make sure that your hard drive is formatted for Apple. Should be Mac OS extended or Mac OS extended (journaled). But if you reformat, be sure to first move your data to another drive, because reformatting will erase all data on the drive.
If that doesn't work, use the Disk Utility app on your Mac to do a permissions repair on both your startup drive and your external drive.

" Project Locked by Other User" HELP!!!

Hi Everyone!
I am having a problem opening my daughters 1st year DVD. Last summer, our iMac died, and we replaced the hard drive. We were able to salvage all the files, and put them onto an external.
Now, I am trying to open one of those salvaged files from iDVD, and I am getting this message:
The project Mairead...The first year1 is locked by the user Steph (user ID 501): 2008-11-30 17:23:42 -0500.
The project can't be opened at this time.
I've tried switching the username to Steph, and it still doesn't work. When I click on it and open the info, it says everyone is "read and/or write" ---
Please help!!! I don't know what to do...

Project Locked by another user

Ok, I kind of broke my MacBook Pro and had to buy another one. I took the HDD out of my old MacBook and connected it to my new MacBook through a SATA to USB converter. I am trying to get my iMovie projects off the old drive but it tells me that the project is locked by another user, the username that I had on my old MacBook. I have tried everything to get it open including copying it to the shared folder, taking ownership, and changing permissions and no luck. Any ideas short of swapping the HDDs.

How to make InDesign CS5 documents lock to other users on network when open

We have multiple users using InDesign CS5 across our network. In InDesign CS4 when one person had a page open, it was locked to any other users, but in CS5 the pages are not locked, and this causes changes not to be saved. We want them to lock, any suggestions?

We have a mac environment, with a mac server. Editorial dept. opens the pages to put stories on, and at different times another dept. needs the pages to put ads on the page. We all use InDesign CS5. When any dept has a page open, it does show the .idlk file, but still allows another user to open the document. However, once in a while, it locks it and doesn't let anyone else open it, which is what we want. This all worked in InDesign 4, it started when we upgraded to CS5. We aren't doing anything out of the ordinary.

User Automatically Locked By Other User?

There was a UserID that was locked AUTOMATICALLY by the system but logged as locked by other user.
UserID B was locked by UserID A on 26th Oct. But UserID
A was on leave on 26th Oct. There is no way UserID
A could have logged in since UserID A 'Last Successful Login' was on 17th Oct.
Any explanation on this incident? Is there any way UserID B can lock UserID A without login into UME?

Look for batches / background jobs scheduled by User A and check if they can set a lock code for a user B (USR02-UFLAG <> 0)
Also I'd probably check if the user was still logged in the system on Oct 26 having entered the system on Oct 17th.

Getting error "Document is locked by other user, please try again later"

Hi Sap gurus,
We have one invoice which is in approver's list. The approver is not able to neither approve this nor reject this invoice, the error message he gets is "Document is locked by other user, please try again lateru201D. We have checked SM12 and we could not find ant lock on this object for the user.
We have tried few function modules indicated below to unlock the work item, to change the status, to complete the work item, to forwarding this work item by another user and finally even to delete the work item.

Please review note 1277002 Wrong error message "Document is locked..." for Invoice. And also note 1178295 BBPAPPROVAL: Document gets locked by the User.
These notes should resolve this issue.

There is a possibility that you've bought a stolen iphone which has an iClould lock on it. The only way to remove an iCloud lock is to contact the previous owner of your phone and inform him of your problem. But you dont know who the previous owner is hence you cant unlock your phone. Do a fresh restore with itunes by connecting your iphone to your pc, opening up itunes and clicking restore. I'm not sure if that'll help, but it's worth a try. Hope I helped. Cheers

IDVD project locked by another user

Hi all!
I have recently changed the hard drive of my iBook.
All projects were on an external firewire drive.
After installing the system, i tried to reopen one of my project, and get the message (translated from french) :
"Project locked by another user
The project xyz was locked by the user Phil (501) + time and date of the probable last save". It must be refering to the user of my old system.
How do i get to reopen this project?

Hello, I have iMac Itel i3, from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users.
About 3-4 days ago the Mail icon in dock had question mark and was accidently removed, along with program on my user. Oops.
1. Mail 4.4 is on other users and works fine, but for me it does not work and tells me V4.3 does not work with latest OS X.
2. I reloaded software from my user with original disks (Oct, 2010) and got Mail 4.3 again. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS. I am unable to load Mail. Gives Yellow error message.
" You have Mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869). For more information, click the Help button."
3. Tried to update software and look for update for mail 4.3 on Apple site to no success.
Hate to go to MS-Entorage ( I may need to learn something new and alien) mail program since contracts are in Mail/Address Book.
Ideas?

This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text. Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.

Project locks up when user double clicks click box

I have a series of practice questions in my Captivate 5 projects that use click boxes to select the question's answers. The project pauses at the click boxes (which all appear at the same time), and a feedback caption appears. A second later, a continue button appears. The project again pauses until the user clicks the continue button. Then the project goes to the next slide. My problem is that when the user double clicks a click box, or clicks it right when it appears (the cursor changes from arrow to a hand), the continue button does not appear.
I am just considering deleting the continue button but my intent there was to allow as much time as the user needed to read the feedback captions after clicking the click box. Any help on this is appreciated.
Options selected on click box: hand cursor, and pause project until user clicks.

Actually, I was more wondering what kind of code I
need to add to my program to make it possible at all.
My file input and output is all done from a Utilites
class which I made but quite obviously any OS will
not know to call Utiities.load(...arguments...).
But, my goal is to have my program work as seamlessly
as possible with a normal person's desktop.I'm sorry, you're right, I completely misread your post. I would definitely take the tactic of writing a .reg file and executing it. That seems to be the accepted way of creating registry entries on Java if you have to do such a thing.
Here is a link to the type of .reg file you're going to need to associate a file with a certain program, and you'll need to modify it slightly to do a 'java -jar myJar' type of thing. Then, just point Runtime.getRuntime().exec() at it, and you should be good to go.
The only thing I'd be worried about is how to find the JAVA_HOME. If you launched your installer via WebStart (or had the user double-click the jar for the first time), though, you could just use
System.getProperty("java.home");

My dad purchase an iphone from his friend, but the phone icloud was lock under his ID and he forgot the password.
May i know how can unlock the icloud and change it to mine?

Our iPad camera has switched off. When Skypeing we can see the other user but they can only hear us.

During a recent Skype session our iPad in England stopped sending images as if the camera had been turned off. My family can hear and see me in Australia, but I can only hear them in England. Does anyone know if there is a settings button or something that might accidentally have turned the camera off? Thanks Glen

Try closing the Camera app:
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
2. Hold down the Camera app for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen
If the above doesn't solve the problem, do a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

Project locked permission madness

OK, I reformatted my entire drive (I was having all kinds of crashing and preference corruption and got fed up). Anyway...
I then restored the contents of the old Movies folder (From Time Machine) to the newly formatted drive with new accounts (and new account names). Using the Get Info window, I have been able to fix the permissions on 3 out of 4 iDVD projects (part of an entire set I edited).
However, there is one project which will not open at all. I've made sure the permissions to Read & Write for ALL accounts on my machine: 3 plus "everyone" and "system."
Here is the error I get:
Project Locked by Other User
The project PRTPRB001 is locked by the user administrator (user ID 504): 2009-06-07 10:19:47 -0500.
The project can't be opened at this time.
I had this same error for the other projects. By changing permissions as described above, I eliminated the error and can open and save. It's driving me crazy why I cannot do this with this one project. Does anyone know what could be the solution?

Maybe you should have a look at the Mac OS X discussions. There are a few threads on problems with permissions, padlocks on hard drives. There are a couple of suggestions in using Terminal to overcome your type of problem. I had a similar problem and was able to get a Terminal fix that worked.
