Project Manager Moving After Effects Linked Files

Hi!
When using the project manager to move the files in Premiere Pro dynamically linked After Effects files are not moved. How can you move After Effects files with the project manager?

Hey friends!
The problem hides insight the path-length of the files that are been created by collecting!!!
In most cases the collect-based generated folder-paths will be to long. The problem isnt inside the folder structure of the original project.
Try to collect the whole project onto your desktop and everything should be fine.

A series of video files (0001.MTS to 0005.MTS) were imported into premiere, when moved to timeline premiere combined them and made them look like one long clip named 0001.MTS. Multiple motion edits and opacity edits were made. When project manager moved the project, the actual video content of 0002.MTS to 0005.MTS was missing(source clips are still there but they were playing and working as part of that 0001.MTS timeline clip before). Those parts of the 0001.MTS clip in the timeline were Danger Striped and can be relinked but now have no edits anymore. The edits are apparently only linked with the original 0001.MTS source clip but extend beyond the actual range of the actual source clip. At the time I thought it was weird that premiere displayed the whole string of clips as one (with one name and no breaks) but it all works in the original project file but cannot be transferred to another location without multiple clips showing Danger Stripes.I need to move it and preserve the dozens of motion and opacity edits linked to the apparently oversized timeline clip. HELP!! any ideas?
I did not nest any clips or sequences, premiere just seemed to combine the clips under one name when I moved them to timeline.

  • Easiest way to color correct Final Cut project in Adobe After Effects CS4

Hello, I have a project in Final Cut Studio 2, that I would love to color correct in Adobe After Effects CS4.  What would be the easiest, highest quality, most direct way to import or color correct Final Cut project in Adobe After Effects?
    Thanks a lot

Export the FCP project, import it in Premiere Pro. From there, import the saved Premiere project into AE to retain the clips. How you get it back to FCP is anotehr matter, but simply rendering from AE should suffice. For everything else, Automatic Duck or BorisFX' XML Transfer would certainly offer a way to get this working in both directions....

  • Re-Linking After Effects CS5 files

I moved an After Effects project file and now it is not linked with several of the files within the project.  I tried using the "create proxy" "replace proxy" and "replace footage" but in all cases, the file is imported with the name of the file on the stage and appears to be unusable.  What is the proper way to re-link files so that they actually work.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply.  No I did not know about that command (collect files).  For sure from now on, I will manually put all files in the folder with the project just to be safe.  It's too late to run it now, I have everything moved.

  • After Effects CC 2014 problem: Image from frame from the last Premiere CC-After Effects link permanently burned into new project compositions.

One frame from one of the clips I sent from Premiere to After Effects through "replace with After Effects composition" was permanently burned in After Effects and now it appears in every new composition of every new project I create as the background of such composition.
For example, I sent from Premiere a clip of a building to After Effects for color correction with Finesse, and warp stabilization and then after rendering, finishing, and closing all the applications, now, every time I open After Effects for any other project, whether already-created or brand-new, every existing or newly created composition (in a Mac Command N) you see the image of the building as the background of the composition.  If you create a new composition, while it remains empty of any layers, you see the image of the building.  If you have an already-created composition with layers, when you turn off all the eyes of the layers, you would expect to see black (nothing) in the composition window (if that's the color you assigned to be as the background of the comp), but instead you see the building.  If you change the color of the comp's background in Composition Settings, you still see the building as the background.  If you render such empty composition (no layers) you render out the image of the building, not black.  I tried clicking everywhere and going through the preferences, and even uninstalling the application and re-installing it, but it seems to be permanently burned in into every comp's background.
Please, any ideas of what's going on and how to get rid of it?
Thanks so much for your help,
    RR.

Thanks so much Dave.  It fixed the problem.

  • Project Manager will not collect all files and Start a Complete New Project

As editor of several projects consisting of multiple terrabytes of footage, it's very important to me to be able to use the project manager to collect all files and start a new project. However, this is not happening!! After I've completely finished a project I should be able to save a new "trimmed" project in the desired location of choice. When I use this feature with PrPro CS 4.2.1 - I only get a partial trimmed project that when opened asks where are the missing files. I've also tried using the project manager to collect all files and move to a new location. Again, only a part of my project is being moved!!!! Earlier versions of the PpPro had no problems with this function. I've got two systems and both of them are identical in actions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    BBTv

How can one do that if each project has thousands of pieces of video, text templates, music scores, photoshop documents, after effect files and so on? The number of different folders per project is almost mind boggling. Any help at all in a quick fix or update or anything would be greatly appreciated. I don't have any problem with my other editing programs and have run earlier versions of PrPro that had no problems with collecting all the files within a project and exporting them to a new location throught project manager either in trimmed or full projects. I really hate to have to start using Final Cut again because of such an easy issue. I know I'm overlooking something and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Premiere pro and after effects ,,,  linked?

can anyone help me? does anyone know  how you save a linked project to come back to at a later date?
sometimes when youve linked a premiere pro project to after effects and you dont have the time to finish it , how can you save the link and load it back up at a later date to finish?

    Hi Mat,
I think I've found at last the solution to your problem; it doesn't seem to me very logical but anyhow it worked so as the French say goes " against ill fate, good heart" (not sure this should the proper translation!)
As to be in your position I worked with my project in the same way.  Briefly my project includes a prologue of the Eruption of Vesuvius of 79 AD which destroyed Pompeii and Herculaneum. In the time line I have some shots of the Vesuvius, in total some 30 seconds split into 4 or 5 clips.
My purpose here is to eliminate from the Vesuvius' cliffs any traces of the actual XX-XXIst century life, roads, trails, cars, observatories, trails inside the volcano of scientists going to take measures.
For this I used the Clone/Stamp effect. I did not use the tracker method because:
    a/I'm not familiar with it,
b/ the shot is practically static, hence not the use of the tracker method; the helicopter's movement has been obviously slowed down in post or may be while shooting and it is very stable. you have on 1st picture the original footage a
After some 900+strokes I decided to stop and encode the project as to check how it all looked like. Amazing! lol! The music gives you the creeps in the pyroclastics surges views! Cecil B. de Mille can give back his apron! lol!
But  I realized that at a particular moment when the helicopter's parallax with the Vesuvius had changed significantly then the border trail was again partly visible especially the triangle where the seismic observatory is located today; you can see clearly some strokes which were not done correctly and have to be changed on the preview in the second picture.

As i had saved my AE and Ppr Projects and closed the programs I was in the exact situation of yours. I opened Ppr and when I asked the program to reopen the modified clip in AE, It did so but the layer was absent! So I decided to open immediately the AE project saved earlier and then I found my layer made my new corrections and saved again the AE project while in the meantime all the new modifications were automatically transferred in a new instance visible in the project panel. I transferred this on the time line and cleared the old one.and to make sure I would not make mistakes later, I used the remove unused command in the Edit menu.
It shows here(the cerulean label above my AE projects bin) :
As I'll do again such operations I'll create a dedicated bin for these kind of AE projects to differentiate from my regular imported AE projects into Ppr.
Final state of volcano at the same place:
I don't know if this is the right procedure but the fact is it works and what makes me furious is that unless I have to change my spectacles or consult immediately an ophthalmologist , I have not found a trace of explanation anywhere in the help files online, I've checked numerous videos on youtube by young, middle aged or seniorissimo specialists tutorials and no one treat that very elementary aspect problem you and I had to deal with. Of course for someone working in the business  for 100 years it's obvious, but thank god I don't intend to wait till I'll be perfectly gaga to find this kind of solution. Nothing is superfluous in an explanation, never forget what happened to a poor animal whose mistress put to dry in her microwave with the result you may imagine. She had the courage to sue the manufacturer for not having stated in the manual that a microwave was not a hair dryer! And she obtained an enormous damages settlement!
I hope the old bag I am has procured you the solution, I'm just an amateur and likely to remain so, as to paraphrase Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady!
    Claude
    PS:
A s for the use of different versions of programs:
First: as advised by all the guys here I've taken the habit to use the full version of CC and not to mix an older one with a new CC one; I use here AE CC to its latest version and Ppr  CC at the same updated moment. So there won't be discrepancies due to slight changes which create compatibility problems. I've had a huge problem once and it served me as a lesson. By the way I also have set up the autosave of all my programs to 5'.It can be annoying but when a problem occurs you're glad not to have to redo 1h work!
Two: during the full development of a project I never change the version of CC with a new updated one for the same reason. I check myself if there has been new updates but do not apply them automatically.

  • Moving After Effects Output Templates into Media Encoder

With the introduction of the CC apps, Adobe is encouraging users to export most content through the Adobe Media Encoder application. I'm happy to make the switch if it helps my overall workflow.
As part of moving over to the AME for all things in After Effects, I was hoping I could export all of my custom Output Module Templates to AME, as many of them are being used in an ongoing basis for existing projects, and I'd hate to have to configure the settings from scratch in AME.
I've been able to export the .aom file using (Save All) from AE. But haven't been successful importing those into Adobe Media Encoder as a preset.
Does anyone have a proceedure for this?
    Thanks!
    Stephen

There is no automated way to do this.
Just to be clear on what we're encouraging:
We are encouraging you to move all of your H.264, MPEG-2, and Flash Video output to Adobe Media Encoder. In other words, you should be creating files intended for distribution (for playback on the web, mobile devices, or television) using Adobe Media Encoder.
The After Effects render queue is still the right tool for creating image sequences and other outputs that serve as intermediate files to be exchanged between post-production applications, for mastering, for archiving, and other purposes that don't require encoding to a highly compressed format for playback/delivery.

  • Audio Troubles wiz after effect composition file throught encore.

So i run the CS3 master collection. Got a server dual core xeon 3ghz,4GB of ram and a 7800 GT Geforce video card.
My trouble started when i wanted to make a commercial DVD for some customers.
Been creating and editing videos assets, animated menus in after effects(i kept low setting to be sure i would have enought ram memory to run it then in encore. Until there everything was fine.
The nightmare started when i had to compile all of this in Encore.
The DVD by itself including menus, transitions and video footage are supposed to be 2.9 GB once the asset are transcoded (DVD is not even full).
Now it took me an insane amount of time before i could render some preview version of it. After running computer all nite long, finally get it burn, but keep on being freezed for long time when it came to get files transcoded in the building process.
Anyway after getting dvd burned, went to check on it and some part of the dvd, (video assets mainly) had missing soundtrack, or get soundtrack from transition assets.
So now i am extremly frustrated and ********* at Adobe, don t know what to do. Even think that Adobe Dynamic Link is the biggest joke ever... Can t even run after effects and encore together... So when they said on the CS3 master collection box that requirement needed is 1 to 2 GB of ram, i cannot beleive it.
For now the CS3 master collection might work on the paper but not on my computer...
Anyway if anyone would have the same audio problems and found a solution to it plz share it. It would save me from angry customers...
    Cheers.
    Arno.

So tried to render the project by taking off one RAM stick from the computer (renaming my after effects files and redoing my encore composition also with an other name) and did work (still did it with vista business as the OS tho, because I ve seen Neil's post to late and already format the computer , couldn't be bother to redo it to put an xp version :p ).
    Cheers for that.
By the way I did READ the system requirements and they say : "Microsoft windows xp with sp2 OR windows vista home premium, BUSINESS, ultimate, or enterprise"... after I reckon they also say "certified for 32-bits editions" but if it not 100% certified for 64-bits edition why do they put Vista business on it ???
It's also right on the box : "more RAM recommended when running multiple components". Anyway I m not a computer specialist, and obviously differents setting must work better than others. Also, I won't take my computer retailer advice for granted anymore because they tried to make me buy heaps of components to run it when finally it wasn't a matter of boosting the computer...
Anyway thanks you all for your support, it's been precious, really appreciate it, I am now an happy Adobe customer again :)
PS: To come back at my initial sound troubles, it vanished when I renamed my After effects compo and redo my encore project.
    Cheers,
    Arno.

  • File size changing when pass through after effects  (180Mb file goes in and comes out 33GB on export)

im processing a video recorded of an  interview where the lighting was not very good on the interviewee
im brightening up the light on the interviewees face
the file was a 180Mb  H.264 file on import
when i export the file its coming out at 33GB in size.... im not sure why this is
i have chosen the default setting "lossless" as the format for export
i just want the file to export the same size and quality as it was when i imported it
what options should i choose for this?    AE does not seem to tell me how big the end file will be and it takes 1 hour and half to process this 2 minute interview so it will take me an awfull long time to get to the bottom of this if i try by myself
    thanks

It doesn't "increase" the file size. You're making a brand new file.
What you put into After Effects has nothing to do with the resulting file. You can have an AE composition with no footage whatsoever and the resulting file will be much larger than 0!
After Effects works internally with completely uncompressed pixel data, so no matter what you toss into it, it produces whatever you tell it to produce. As Mylenium points out, you made an uncompressed final file.
Your original video file is VERY compressed. So, of COURSE uncompressed video is going to look massive by comparison.
Read Mylenium's link to understand a bit more and go here to learn AE: Getting started with After Effects There are lots of "gotchas" like this that'll bit your butt if you skip this basic training stuff.

  • How to convert after effects cc file to after effect cs5

How can i convert after effects creative cloud file to after effect cs5

AE CC 14 will save as the the previous version CC
CC will save as the previous version CS6
CS6 will save as the previous version witch is CS5.5
CS 5.5 will save as the previous version CS5
You just have to have all of these versions on your system or get someone who has all of these versions to help you. You only need the .aep file. You do not need the source footage to save as a previous version, but you will need the original source footage to do anything with the project.

  • Project manager premiere and AE links is there an easy way ?

    Hi,
I would love to know if someone has a better workflow for trimming, even if you want to backup them or just duplicate them for another new project.
I use a lot of dynamic links in my project, I keep everything really organize, so I backup my project by trimming premiere pro, collect files in AE, clean and copy with assets C4D projects, and duplicate the whole folder of audition ( I've never understand how audition manage files so I copy everything)
But I would love just click project manager in Premiere, select my finished sequence, trim the project and create a new folder. the problem is that dynamic links arent copy.
So is there any way to trim the whole CC projects, and what i mean with this is some function where everything on your timeline, AE projects with assets, Audition files assets, Speedgrade sessions, c4d, and premiere project is duplicate and create with everything you will need for backup or create a new project from there
if anyone has a better workflow please let me know
    thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking that I would have to do that unless there was some easier automated way. I was hoping there was some automated way that I did not know about..

  • JPG fine in Photoshop but error in After Effects: "The file format module could not parse the file (45::36)"

I found a lot of discussion on this error in Photoshop but I'm getting it in After Effects.  I have a sequence of JPG images created by photoshop (output is RGB in sRGB color space) and it appears one of them is causing problems in AE.  There are several hundred images in the sequence, all created from PS, and only this one is causing problems.  I've re-created it several times in PS and the error persists.  I've also re-created several others and they're still fine.
I've seen other comments that the issue is with incorrect file formats and CMYK color space.  I've confirmed that neither of those is my problem - the file is JPG straight out of PS in RGB.  Also, there are several hundred others that are just fine using the same process and "save as" properties...
    Any help?
    Thanks,

Have you stripped its metadata in Bridge? Could well be that it contains botched info from the camera. PS carries this through until the bitter end. Alternatively save it with Save for Web choosing to remove metadata.
