Project Manager... not always re-linking

We mostly use trim mode when project managing our PP-CC projects to the archive server.
However there has been times when we open that newly created project - the sequence has gray diagonal lines and most of the footage does not re-link.
I noticed when looking at a 2 camera shoot cut in the timeline cam 1 angle starting timecode on each clip has the same start time on every edit... Same with cam-2.
Also - when we look at the footage in the Trimmed folder - it appears all the correct scenes are there.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Is here a work-around?
On another note - when we do use Project Manager the original sequence looses it's link to all the preview files we rendered.
Any ideas on that, too??
Thanks in advance

  • Project manager premiere and AE links is there an easy way ?

    Hi,
I would love to know if someone has a better workflow for trimming, even if you want to backup them or just duplicate them for another new project.
I use a lot of dynamic links in my project, I keep everything really organize, so I backup my project by trimming premiere pro, collect files in AE, clean and copy with assets C4D projects, and duplicate the whole folder of audition ( I've never understand how audition manage files so I copy everything)
But I would love just click project manager in Premiere, select my finished sequence, trim the project and create a new folder. the problem is that dynamic links arent copy.
So is there any way to trim the whole CC projects, and what i mean with this is some function where everything on your timeline, AE projects with assets, Audition files assets, Speedgrade sessions, c4d, and premiere project is duplicate and create with everything you will need for backup or create a new project from there
if anyone has a better workflow please let me know
    thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking that I would have to do that unless there was some easier automated way. I was hoping there was some automated way that I did not know about..

  • Project Manager Moving After Effects Linked Files

    Hi!
When using the project manager to move the files in Premiere Pro dynamically linked After Effects files are not moved. How can you move After Effects files with the project manager?

    Hey friends!
The problem hides insight the path-length of the files that are been created by collecting!!!
In most cases the collect-based generated folder-paths will be to long. The problem isnt inside the folder structure of the original project.
Try to collect the whole project onto your desktop and everything should be fine.

  • PP 2014 Project Manager not Trimming Clips

Project Manager pretty straight forward however the ProRes clips are not being trimmed. I tried both 24 and 0 (yes radio buttons were selected) but when I reopened the project the clips were full clips.
    thoughts?

I'm having the exact same issue now and it seems to be related to what types of format Premiere supports for trimming.
My project consists of the following file formats:
    XAVC 100Mbit MXF
    XDCAM HD422 .mov
    ProRes 422 .mov
If I remove XDCAM and XAVC from the project, Project Manager trims the clips, but if XAVC and XDCAM is in the project the files doesn't trim.
Adobe Help-page mentions this: "Some formats, such as Long GOP based media files, cannot trim media, or add handles." But it doesn't state what these "some formats" are. XDCAM is Long GOP, but XAVC 100MBit is Intra and shouldn't be affected.

  • CC2014 Project Manager not keeping speed changes

trying to use project manager to consolidate a 40 minute sequence, everything looks good along the way, but any speed changes in the sequence are not keep in the new project....anyone else experience this?  and is there a workaround?

Is this specific to this project (or specific settings) or are you seeing this in general? e.g.: if you create a new Project, apply Speed/Duration to a single clip in a Sequence (e.g.: 200%), then Consolidate and Transcode, does the Transcoded Project still have the Speed/Duration value applied to the clip in the Sequence?
I have not seen any reports on Speed/Duration missing and also ran a few sanity checks with Speed/Duration and Time Remapping in CC2014 (8.2), which all continued to have Speed values applied in the Transcoded Project Sequence. I also tried Collect Files and Copy to New Location, which also retained Speed values.

  • Project Manager not trimming projects

when using project manager and creating a trimmed project the difference between the original nad new trimmed project is minimal
The large files within the project are H.264. Does Premiere have difficulty with this format as it seemed to work with Pro Res 422 (LT) files?

The previous versions of Premiere Pro did not support trimming of MPEG material via Create New Trimmed Project. It would copy the entire file(s). With the new Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1 version, you have a new option for Consolidate and Transcode, which does support trimming of MPEG files to a chosen preset/format. Hope this helps.

  • Project Manager not scanning Logic folder ?!

    Hi,
The most funny thing about the project manager is that, no matter what, I can't have it list my songs, projects or audio files of any types, which are all strored in ~/Music/Logic (as by default settings). Other files stored in any location on my drive (even within ~/Music) are properly found and listed. I've tried rescanning a dozen times. Of course, I've checked that this folder is not excluded from the scan list. Force-including it doesn't help either. Weird, no?
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arnaud

Correction and addition (I can't get the edit button to appear on my previous post):
It's just the songs and project (.lso files) that can't be recognised in the ~/Music/Logic folder, as audio files in that folder (or sub-folders) are seen actually. Other .lso files in other locations of the ~/Music folder are seen, as I was sying in my previous post.
Besides, this should not be a preferences or database file issue, I suppose, since LP was brand new installed for the 1st time on my MPB only a couple of days before I launched scanning with PM and noticed the issue.
    regards,
    Arnaud

  • Project Manager not Trimming ProRes Files

I was hoping that 8.2 would solve this issue, but it hasn't.  When I choose 'Consolidate and Transcode' in Project Manager, it is not trimming my HD 1920x1080 ProRes files.  And in fact, it hardly trims anything. (It does trim a few Avid 1:1 SD files) I've tried virtually every possible combination of settings to get this to work the way the old 'Create Trimmed Project' did, to no avail.  Please help - thanks!

Premiere CC's Create New Trimmed Project does not support trimming of any MPEG material. If you update to CC 2014 8.1 or 8.2, there is a new option of Consolidate and Transcode that will allow you to transcode to formats that Premiere can export (e.g.: H.264, MXF OP1a, etc.). It still won't trim to .mts, but it might get you closer to your goals.

  • Project manager not trimming .mts files

Relatively new to Premiere and struggle to media manage since my switch from FCP7.
I keep finding that Project manager is not trimming the.mts files, so still stuck with the entire clips.
Anyone know of any work arounds?

  • CS5.5 Project Manager not collecting all media

I am having a problem with the Project Manager in CS5.5.
Although I have used it succesfully in the past, on a current project I am trying to archive it is not performing correctly.
The issue is that the Project Manager is not collecting all the video clips when processing the project.
My project and its assets are contained in a folder and not scattered across my computer or multiple drive. The settings I am selecting are:
Selecting all sequences (11 in project)
    Create trimmed project
    Exclude unused clips
    90 frame handles
Save in different folder on different drive
When I process, I am consistantly missing several video clips. They are a mix of avi and mov clips and they seem to be the same clips each time.
The clips are located with the other video files. They play just fine in the project but somehow they do not get included and trimmed when processed through the Project Manager.
Any idea or suggestions are approciated.

    Any ideas? Anyone?

  • CS4 Project Manager not trimming clips.

Will premiere pro cs4 project manager trim the source clip file size based on in and out points?
I could swear I have done this before last year. When I do a project manager trim is creates a folder, changes the name of the file, but doesn't change the original size.
I created a project and imported just one clip , trimmed in from 1min to 5 seconds and dropped in into a timeline. After the proj mgr export the file wasn't trimmed in the new folder at all. I tried adding handles.

Thanks Jim. That little tid bit doesn't show up in the on-line help.

  • Project Manager not trimming R3D files.

    Mac
    CS5.5
I am trying to make a trimmed project. I go to Project Manager and I select "Create New Trimmed Project"
I include 24f handles, Rename Meda files to Match...etc
The Resulting (est) project size says 5GB when the actual project turns out to be 20GB.
    Thoughts?
(Btw, I tried collecting and copying files and the it was the same size (20GB), same amount of footage in both folders)

PPro can't trim R3D files.  It would require a RED codec to be able to generate new R3Ds... the best it can do is consolidate your project to just the media that's actually used in the edit.

  • Back up files from Project Manager will not link.

    Info:
    Mac
    Premiere Pro 5.5
    Lacie 6TB Drive
    E-Sata connection
    RED R3D footage
    - Ok I used the Project Manager to "Collect Files and Copy to New Location"
    - Once 2TB of edited footage was copied to the new hard drive to use for editing.
    - When I open up the backed up project on the new drive Premiere will not batch link the footage. I am having to link 2TB of footage ONE BY ONE.
Does the "Copy files to new location" just totally screw any ability for Premiere to find the files?
If so it is pretty much useless.
    How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance, this is really important and time sensative. You guys rock.

    Lame,
If the Path (absolute) is changed in any way, the links to those files are broken in the PRPROJ file. PrPro will ask, "Where is file____ ?" At that point, one would just navigate to the new location (Path), and choose the first file asked for, in that folder. PrPro will then relink to all used files in that folder, automatically. If one has the files in various sub-folders, the process will need to be repeated for each folder. PrPro also offers a Finder, to help with the navigation, if necessary. Once all Assets have been re-linked, I would do a Save_As, and increment the Project's name.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere Pro Project Manager does NOT include After Effects files.

Warning: Premiere Pro "Project Manager" does NOT include the After Effects 'dynamic linked composition' files associated with the project when "Collect File and Copy to New Location" resulting in the incomplete and loss of all dynamic linked compositions in the new project destination ( folder or disc drive ) .. I know this also includes Photoshop dynamic links and assume includes Audition audio files as well.

Here's the best way: Personal Responsibility.
Put all of your project files in one file. Stop asking PPro to do it for you. It's simple. This is a no-brainer. If you create a linked comp, create it in the same file as your PPro project and files. When you send it to Encore, create the Encore project in the same folder. Works all the time, every time. When you're sure that you're finished with the project for the forseeable future, move the entire folder off your workstation into storage. Do I move a copy of each asset (video clip, image, audio, etc.) into this folder before I import it to my AE or PPro project? Yes I do. Is it overly time-consuming? Not really. I can fly on my machine. Does it beat not being able to open a project later. Oh yes. Yes it does. I'd say I did 50 projects last year this way. When I occasionally had to move a project folder back to the workstation, I had no problems. Everything worked as it did before I off-loaded it. That's because I take personal responsibility for my projects. It's imporatnat that theyt work, especially if I end up having to hand it off to a third party down the road.
BTW, my workstation is RAID 0. If you are using anything less, you need to upgrade. What I'm trying to tell you is that my system works very well. I have not always done things the right way. I have had my share of frustration. The point is that I learned. Now I'm passing that on to you. I use CS5 on an HP Z800 with a measely 12 gigs of ram and a single i7 quad core and the aforementioned RAID 0 configuration and a hacked Nvidia GTS 450. It works quite well. I'm sure I would do even better with another i7, 12 more gigs of ram and a Quadro 4000, but this is what they give me to use.
Additionally, I'm using CS5 at home on a MUCH older HP xw8200 dual dual Xeons, 12 gigs of ram and software-only MPE. Guess what? It works quite well.
