Project Manager Trimmed Temp File Location

Hello,
I recently tried to trim down a 100GB project. I had 8GB left on my harddrive, and the project manager said the final project would be 7GB, so I took the chance and started trimming.
Unfortunately, I ran out of diskspace during the trim, and the Project Manager aborted the action. Fair enough. However, when I checked my diskspace in finder, I only had 100MB free space. That means the temp file, that the project manager created while trimming the project, is still stored somewhere. But I have no idea where it is stored or what it is named.
I'm on a Mac 10.6.4, CS5.
Do you know where (or how) to look?
Thanks,

Where are your Scratch Disks located?
What was the Destination Folder, that you directed PrPro to archive your Project?
Note that performance of a HDD begins to decline at ~ 70% of capacity, and falls off sharply, as one fills the drive. It can also contribute to premature failure of the HDD. Sounds like it's time to get larger, or more HDD's.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • The 2 year old fix for changing temp files is no longer valid, I need to change the temp file location in the latest firefox.

In 3.6.3 I'm unable to find the parent cache to change where the temp files are located. I have an SSD drive, and I need to get the temp file off, and onto my platter drive. I have read the previous fix of about:config and changing the parent cache location, but it no longer seems to be there. I'm unable to locate anything relating to my SSD drive location in about:config.
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.70 Safari/533.4

Unfortunately, it appears that what I wrote about not being able to find the location IN about:config of the cache to change it from my C: drive to a different location, was mildly misunderstood that I didn't know how to get into about:config.
The location of browser.cache.disk.parent_directory does not currently exist in 3.6.3. I'm assuming it's under a different location. Also using the simple string of "cache" lists several options, but none of them appear to be where firefox is currently dumping the temp files onto my C:
I merely need to know how to switch the temp file location from 1 drive, to another. Not downloads, the temp file.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

  • I Lost Power to my PC while in Acrobat Reader and lost data, where is temp file located?

I lost power to my pc while typing a new acrobat reader file but never saved it, where is the default temp file located, if this exists? Thanks.

The answer to your question depends upon your version of Reader and your OS. Especially since the last version of Acrobat Reader was version 5 which is four majors versions ago. The last four versions have been called Adobe Reader, not Acrobat Reader. This the forum for the Acrobat commericial product, not the free reader product.
PDF files cannot be edited in Reader and fields filled in with Reader cannot be saved (unless especially enabled) canot be re-opened from the temp files. To make a long story short. You will need to re-type the information.
Sorry to be the bearer of the sad news.

  • PP3.0 --Problem Project Manager Trim Software Damages Files

I have a problem that occurs when a Premiere Pro 3.0 project is trimmed using the project manager software.
It occurs mostly with non-captured files- with wav files such as narration, music, and sfx  (they can be  Cd 44.1 files and mono and stereo tracks).  Sometimes, it happens with graphics files.  This problem occurs about half the time the project manger software is used.
In an affected project, there may be any where from 2 to 25 damaged files.  The error message that we get in the trimmed project is “unsupported file formats”.
When we open the non-importable audio files in another application like Sound Forge, they are identified as Raw PCM files.  These Raw PCM files frequently have errors-- like random noises.  The ones that don’t have errors can be saved as a wav file and then it can be re-linked and used.
It is happening on more than one computer.  These computers all have dual 32 bit Xeon processors and at least 3 Gigs of memory.

Could you give me a little more details about using a file manager?
I usually think of a file manager as selecting some files to keep and some file to delete.  I don't think that this will work.  Many of the files use only a small portion of the larger file.  Are you suggesting to keep the larger files even though they may be less thn 5% of the total size?

  • [CS5] Project Manager Trimming not supported for HDV footage?

Yes, I have the licensed version of CS5 Production Premium.
The Premiere Pro "Project Manager" allows you to create a "trimmed" version of your project. That is, only the footage actually used in sequences (along with some handles) is placed in the new, trimmed project. For example, I have a project which uses only 1 second of an 11 second HD Quicktime clip.
original project folder which includes the clip = 352MB.
trimmed project folder is = 26MB
My problem is with a similar project using only a small portion of an HDV clip (M2T):
    original project folder = 232MB
    trimmed project folder = 232MB
There is nothing I can find int the Adobe help file regarding limitations for HDV files with the trim feature. This problem is not limited to CS5. I experienced it also in CS4 but resolving it was not a priority at the time. But I now have a large number of projects I wish to archive.

Jeremy, I am assuming that this is harder to solve, because it gets into Premiere and/or the mainconcept codec being used, not providing smart rendering.  You can't just take the middle of an mpeg clip without rendering.  Premiere could do this, but there would be a quality hit.  Is there any chance we will see a more sophisticated approach to mpeg inside Premiere?  And I am also interested in whether the long gop formats are/might be addressed differently from others.
Todd, here is the CS5 help file that should have this.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7c74a .html
    And it does not.
In earlier versions (I'm still CS3, and I think it was CS3 in which there was this discussion), I found that you could not work around this by creating a subclip.  In fact, the original full clip would be repeated for each instance of the subclip.
If someone adds a comment to this help entry, and it is a weak attempt, do you edit the comment so that the help file is most useful?

  • Project manager trimmed project error

I am using Premiere CS5, and when I go to project manager and try to "Create New Trimmed Project" it starts and then I get following error:
"There was a problem copying or trimming the following \\....\..file loaction. Plase make sure you have enough disk space and that you have the correct user privileges to complete the operation."
I have enough space on all of my HDDs, and also tried opening premiere as administrator.
I tried this with 2 different projects and the fact is that error comes up with .MOV files that were rendered from after effects.
    Thank you for help

    Hi, Rich.
I don't have a solution yet. When I couldn't make Project Manager work, I just dragged and dropped my whole project file onto my archive drive. Next time I need to archive a project, I'll see if any of the advice I received on the forum helps. If it does, I'll let you know.

  • Project Manager: Trimmed wavs Don't Play

I created a truimmed project using Project Manager. The project opens up but all of the wav files are blank! If I open one of them in Windows Media Player I get an error message about not having enough memory. And they are tiny files. Normal wav files open fine in WMP.

I just did a test. I created a project and only put one wav file on the timeline and nothing else. I then used Project Manager to create a trimmed project. I opened the trimmed project and sure enough, the new wav file contained no audio. Any ideas?

We are having an issue with our Term server users. We believe this is a permissions issue with the location of the temp file opened when you open a pdf. We are unable to find said location and have spent hours on the forums today with no luck. • Feature Request: Project Manager Trim Compatibility with all formats please!

It's 2013, Premiere Pro CC is out, and is more "Final Cut Pro" than ever (thanks Adobe), but there are still some basic things that need to be fixed. This is a DOOZY!...
With DSLR media being used pretty much everywhere, the inability to created trimmed projects using Project Manager for H.264 clips (and GoPro clips, and more!) is simply insane. Seriously?
    Help me Adobe.... please...
    thanks
    jesse

Actually, Kevin works right across the San Francisco Bay from where I live. So yes, he is here in the USA.
You will occasionally get some answers around here from people with Indian names, but we are happy to have them on the forums.
The conversation about how to deal with the various codecs has been going on for some time, and the more people who request the feature, the more likely they will get it done. I don't like to say that the squeeky wheel gets the grease, but pretty much? It does!
I know they are thinking about it because of some of the comments I have seen and emails I have received. It appears to be fairly complicated, but personally, I think it is well worth the effort.
I would like to be able to ingest subclips from Prelude without transcoding (I don't use Prelude because it is useless to me without this feature). Once ingested, if I only use part of a clip, I want it trimmed in the Project Manager to just the footage I might need in the future if I have to make minor adjustments. And yes, that includes handles. So if handles solve part of the problem, that's fine.

  • Groff / grops temp file location

I was bit by the sudo grace period bug. Because sudo has a brief grace period,
during which anyone can execute it without being prompted for a password, anyone
who makes it past the firewall can execute anything he wants if he knows when sudo
was last executed. One clever chap changed my root password on me.
I share this verbose background because I want others to be aware of this security hole.
Add these three lines to /etc/sudoers, which removes grace period and prints su activity
in a secure file (so no one knows when su or sudo is executed).
    Defaults:ALL timestamp_timeout=0
    Defaults:ALL !syslog
    Defaults:ALL logfile=/var/log/secure.log
Now on to the question. Because I followed this inconvenience with a reset of all
permissions, I suddenly found that grops (the troff2ps postprocessor underlying
groff) no longer had permission to create temp files, rendering it defunct. I can
only run it successfully as root(!).
Because I cannot find the src for grops, I do not know where the temp files are
created. The man page's specification of /tmp/gropsXXXXX is incorrect. I need
to find that directory and liberalize the permissions.
    Thank you.

Thank you for your interest in my other security issues. I was able to resecure root and the machine right away...
Great! Sorry I wasted your time with my post then. I must confess that I know pretty much nothing about groff/grops. But I didn't realize that you had simplified your post and weren't having further root problems.
That said, I hope the following isn't equally useless:
    1. According to the groff man page:
    <pre style="line-height: 50%; background: #eee">
    GROFF_TMPDIR
The directory in which temporary files will be created. If this
is not set but the environment variable TMPDIR instead, tempo-
rary files will be created in the directory $TMPDIR. On MS-DOS
and Windows 32 platforms, the environment variables TMP and TEMP
(in that order) are searched also, after GROFF_TMPDIR and
TMPDIR. Otherwise, temporary files will be created in /tmp.
    The refer(1), groffer(1), grohtml(1), and grops(1) commands use
    temporary files.
    </pre>
To my surprise, $TMPDIR is set to something seemingly obscure: /var/folders/XX/XXYYYYYYYYYYYYY/-Tmp-/ where XX is a random pair of characters and YYYYYYYYYYYYY is another random sequence of characters. This folder is owned by the currently logged-in user, and has permissions 0700! YMMV, but this, and the parent directories, may be worth investigating.
    2. You may already know this, but just in case (or for anyone else who reads this), 0777 is the wrong permissions for tmp-like directories. The correct permissions is 01777, or drwxrwxrwt. The difference (the '1' in the 512-place) is the "sticky bit" and partially overrides the write-permissions to prevent users from deleting files that they don't own. This is a useful security measure: otherwise, say, an attacker could potentially attempt to exploit a race condition, and replace the temporary file which grops creates with a different file, before grops gets around to reading the temporary file which it created. (On the other hand, with the sticky bit set, a different security issue is created, namely, if the 'XXXXXX' part of the gropsXXXXXX filename is predictable--e.g. the PID of the grops process--then an attacker could try to create the gropsXXXXXX before grops gets a chance to, thereby effecting a DOS attack.) I would be surprised if the incorrect permissions would be an issue for you--why would groff/grops check the sticky bit on the temporary directory?--but it is still worth fixing, if necessary.

  • CDE 1.2 Style Manager - Color Palette File Location

Trying to find out where the Color (palette, modify, custom) files are located so that I may edit or disable some of the colors that won't work well on certain brands of our flat monitors. Our applications are picking up this information and color styling as well, which is making the problem worse - particular with light text colors like white on light backgrounds like aqua, etc (the users are not intelligent enough to just change the palette to something more readable). Thanks for any help you can lend.

Sorry to cause confusion, I am pretty good at that :)
Log into Shared Services, Expand Foundation, you will see Calculation Manager, select and expand planning, then you should see the apps and under each application all the Calculation Manager artifacts for that planning application.
You will need to export the Calc Manager artifacts as well as Planning application ones, they are separate products, it can be done in one go by using tabs and then clicking export.
If you have a read of http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_migrate_planning_app.pdf it should give you a good idea.
    Cheers

  • Why AE project files in Premiere Pro Project Manager collection of files?

Am I missing something? I can't seem to find any information as to why a AE project file is collected by Premiere Pro CC 2014. I realize that I I'm using AE Comps within Premiere Pro  (Dynamic Link). I have always wished that Premiere Pro would "collect" any AE projects being used. But apparently Premiere Pro just collect the AE project file...
If I open the AE project file that Premiere Pro "collected" it still has to locate its resources on my machine, and I also now have two copies of the same AE project file. Nothing gained for me. I still have to "collect" the AE project file which creates yet another copy of the same AE project file... I makes no sense to me and I hope I'm missing a step or overlooking something...
Ideally it would nice if PPro would somehow communicate with AE and have AE collect the project and send it over to Premiere Pro to include in its "collection" of resources.
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lou

Discovered another issue. If I'm using multiple AE comps in PPro, PPro generates several AE project files, on for each Comp. If I go back into my PPro collected project file it references those specific AE files. That means I have to collect each of those new AE project files that PPro generated... In addition, PPro won't let me change those references within the PPro collected project file to the original AE project file. What a headache! There has to be another way. Is that the way I'm going to have to collect projects from both PPro and AE now??

  • Manage library - seperate file locations

Hi, i use itunes for windows 7.5.0.
thx to growing podcasts and music library use my disk1 where my (so far one and only) itunes library is full
So i would like to tranfer the podcasts+video files to a seperate folder on disk2.
Is there any way of physically moving the files but keeping central directory (catalogue, playlists, etc)?
I noticed that when ADDing new titles (music, video) there is an option /a with creating a central copy and /b with only a directory entry into library - so my goal should be possible
How do i manage to get around duplicate entries (which happen if i just move the files to disc 2 - which ones by the way? - and add them back to the library from new location)?
PS An unrelated but similar question:
my libray is still small (c. 20GB) I noticed that new generation ipods have 80/160 GB
If i bought one for the family could we use three seperate itune libraries on one ipod (similar to a shared pc usage, i open my ipod library, my son his, ... and each ipod subsection sync with a matching itunes library on a PC)?

    {quote}So i would like to tranfer the podcasts+video files to a seperate folder on disk2.{quote}
One way to do it is consolidating your Library using iTunes. It will copy all the files from wherever they are to the iTunes Music folder location that you have set in your preferences (Prefs, Advanced tab, general tab, music folder location).
Before trying any of this, backup (at minimum) your iTunes Library files (by default in My Documents\My Music\iTunes).
In other words, set your iTunes Music folder to the location you want on "disk2", then, from the "Advanced" menu, select "Consolidate Library". All the current items in your Library will be updated to play from the new location.
Since iTunes copies the files, you will have to manually delete the original files (after you're sure the copy was performed correctly).
BTW, you do not have to have the preference checked for "Keep iTunes Music folder organized", nor the "Copy files to iTunes Music..." for this to work.
