Project not opening in Premiere Pro CS2

Tody I started working on a project and imported a bunch of .wmv files to work with, to skip having to separately import the ones I need, I decided to import the whole folder. It worked all fine, until I tried opening the project again. It starts loading the project but after some time the program quits without any notification.
At first I thought it was just some little thing like the fact that premiere pro exceeded about 2 GB's of ram and it closed because it doesn't work well with paging file memory, so I tried opening the project on my laptop which had a lot more ram but the same result.

Thanks, i found out that the trouble was that I imported too many clips, had to move them to a different folder so premiere would ask where they were, offline them all, remove the ones that I didn't need and re-link the ones that I needed.

  • In Premiere Elements 8, None of my projects will open. Says projects were created in Premiere Pro

In Premiere Elements 8, None of my projects will open. Says projects were created in Premiere Pro, when they were not. Cannot create new projects either. Basically, the program is completely bricked an unable to do anything once it gets past the welcome screen.
My projects are all saved as .prel
They were all working, when suddenly none of them would work any more. I can no longer use this program, and I really need to. Have already tried running the program as an administrator and creating a second admin account. Also tried going to the basic graphics driver.

Thanks for the helpful additional information. Because of the nature of the description of your problem (references to Premiere Pro which you do not have et al), I would encourage you to go directly to the following which I suggested previously by the following question.
    5. Have you gone the route of Uninstall/ccleaner run through - regular and registry components of the cleaner), reinstall?
    1. Uninstall Premiere Elements 8 via the usual Control Panel/Installed Program area route.
    2. Download and install the free ccleaner and run the computer through its regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts.
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Open the program to see something like
Click on "Run Cleaner" with the "Cleaner Tab" selected in the left column of the dialog. Click OK to the pop up to initiate the automatic process.
After the regular cleaner portion is done, then click on "Registry" in the left column of the dialog. It should look something like
    Click on "Scan for Issues"
    when done
    Click on "Fix selected issues"
    when pop up appears
Click Yes to "backup changes to the registry"
    when done
Click "Fix selected issues" in the pop up that now appears
    when done
    Click Close.
Please read all the details in the ccleaner link before starting. If you need clarification on anything written before you begin, please do not hesitate to ask.
I use this procedure routine for computer maintenance without issues (Windows XP 32 bit as well as Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 64 bit). It is a widesly used tool.
We will be watching for further developments.
    3. Reinstall Premiere Elements 8 with antivirus and firewalls off. After installation of 8, now do the download and installation of the 8.0.1 update from Adobe via the link
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4653
That 8.0.1 installation can be done with Premiere Elements 8 closed.
Adobe set up that 8.0.1 Update so that they is no 8.0.1 shown in the program after installation of it. You will probably get a message of installation completed successful. The major evidence that it has been installed will be the turn off of the previously default "Automatic Background Rendering" in preferences. You still have to turn off the "Automatic AutoAnalzyer" in Elements Organizer, a must do.
    Please review the above.
    Thank you.

  • Opening A Premiere Pro CS6 Project in Premiere Pro CS 5.5

I downloaded Premiere Pro CS 6. I already have Premiere Pro CS 5.5 on my computer. I had read you can open up a CS 6 Project in CS 5.5 by doing the following:
    1) Saving your project file on your Hard Drive
    2) Copy it just for back up
    3) Right Click (Control Click) on the original Project File and open it up in Text Edit.
    4) On the fourth row Change Version "25" to Version "24"
    5) Save it.
I opened up Premiere Pro 5.5 and went to File (that I just changed to open in Premiere CS 5.5) - Open Project - and I then clicked on that file. It started to open up. When Premiere 5.5 was open this dialog box came up:
I clicked OK and everything opened up in 5.5 fine. It worked great. You can open up a CS6 project in Premiere 5.5.
What does this box mean? I installed CS 6 as is. I did not add any third party files or transitions or filters.
    Thanks in Advance

this is the best piece of advice i have found. thankyou so much edwurd. I have premiere pro 5.5 and 6, I had to upgrade to 6 for some commercial work, but half my plugins have now gone into another dimension and 6 doesn;t see them these consist of red giant and new blue fx plugins mostly. These all work great in 5.5 premiere but of course with new projects now in 6 half of them cease to be seen by the plugin loader even though they are in the cache after 11 days of installing and reinstalling still no one can help. I had a huge project i was working layered with all these third party plugins that 6 didn't want to play with anymore, although it used to, I just tried your suggestion. and it worked perfectly, i didn't even get the error box the whole thing / 6 project /  opened beautifully in 5.5 with all plugins functioning and happy. Thankyou again. you are a legend.

  • Premiere Elements Project file wount open in Premiere Pro CS6

My friend Just bought Premiere elements 13 and created a Project. I cant open the Project in Premiere Pro CS6. Getting this error message:
"The Project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened."
The Project workes fine in Premiere Elements 13
What can I do? What is wrong?

    If you have done this:
Import a Premiere Elements project (Windows only)
       Select File > Open Project.
Browse to an Adobe Premiere Elements project file, with file extension PREL.
       Click Open.
Premiere Pro converts the Premiere Elements project file to a Premiere Pro project file.
and it wont work Elements 13 is probably too new for CS6.

  • Premiere Elements 8 - "not compatible with Premiere Pro"?

I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled Premiere Elements 8 program twice. Updated to 8.01. When I save a "new project" file, then try to open it with the same program I created it with (Elements 8), it will not open the file and says: "Projects created with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Elements are not compatible." What is going on? I don't have Premiere Pro, so how could I create a file with it?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Dynamic Link Server NOT CONNECTING to Premiere Pro

I have Media Encoder CS5, as part of the Creative Suite 5. My programs say that I have no updates to install, so everything is up to date.
I am having an issue with the dynamic link server.
Here's what has happened thus far.
Recently when I have tried to encode a project sequence from Adobe Premiere Pro it DOES NOT work. This is the first time that has happened.
I repeated the process and again, it still happened, unable to connect to the Dynamic Link.
The Error messages that I was getting was "could not read from source. Check if it has been moved or been deleted"
Once, I received this, I went to check to see if all files were linked properly, and they were. Everything was rendered and all was good in the timeline and the project itself.
Yet, again, the error message appeared.
Then I tested a previous project that I knew had been exported and worked through Adobe to Media Encoder. And all the files were linked properly and yet again received the error message I wrote above.
Then I thought the Dynamic Link itself wasn't working properly, so I tested importing an Adobe After Effects Comp into a Premiere Timeline and it DID WORK.
Then I went and tested if a video file of an already exported project would be able to sync to Media Encoder. And this WORKED.
I then went to add the file directly from Media Encoder and when I went to add a sequence from a saved Premeire File, it would take about 5 minutes "Connecting to Dynamic Link Server", to then state, "Connecting to Dynamic Link Server Failed"
My question is, how do I fix the dynamic link between Media Encoder and Premiere? Because, additionally, importing and After Effects Sequence works with Media Encoder.

I've been searching/troubleshooting for days, none of the firewall, new shortcuts in folder, antivirus, you name it I tried it even wiped my system which seemed to work at first..
What did it for me in the end was I had Dxtory (a software recorder, for recording gameplay) running on startup, and somehow it interfered with only Premiere projects in Media Encoder, I could still import AE projects go figure.
Check all the programs you have running or use sometimes, if they have some sort of hook into other programs/deal with video/codecs this could be your problem too!
Thanks to everyone trying to solve this problem!

  • Export of Elements 12 Project for use in Premiere Pro

Hello. Simply (or not so simply), I just want to know if I can export a Premiere Elements 12 Project for use in Premiere Pro CS6 or CC. I would like some form of verification such as a page in a manual or a link to a web page. Just getting the answer "Yes" will not do. Sorry but this has been very difficult to locate and am concerned it can't happen.
    Thanks,
    BK

"Adobe's target audience is just not likely to later need to edit a Project in a professional NLE."
Thanks Bill and I understand. However, given the current choices of NLE's today and many Professional Users "scrambling" to find replacements for FCP7 and "aging" Avid, I would think that the workflow I'm suggesting might be a cost effective and viable alternative that Adobe should consider very seriously. If it was never brought to their attention before, I'm mentioning it now!
If we can avoid the cost of putting PrPro into the hands of Preditors and leave the Pro Finishing to the real Pros, that would be very helpful not only financially but it would make learning and working with the software much easier for them using Elements.
So, I guess the only way to find out if this works, is to download the trial versions of each and have at it.
Unless someone out there already has both of the most current versions and is willing to try this?
Either way, I'll have to find out sooner or later because we are moving to Pro eventually.
    Thanks again,
    Bob K.

  • Bridge CC crashes when opened in Premiere Pro CC

Bridge CC tends to crash regularly when open in Premiere Pro CC. Sometimes it takes longer to crash than other times. sometimes it doesn't crash at all but it appears if I leave both programs open for an hour and then come back to work on a job it will crash in the middle of looking at footage to import into premiere. Is this a bug or is there some way to fix it on my computer?

Need more info.  What OS and ram?
Bridge is a processor intensive program and if processing video in Pro CC it could starve computer for resources.

  • I updated my mac's OS to Yosemite and now my eye drop tool will NOT work inside premiere pro. Can anyone help me fix this issue?

The eyedropper tool for selecting colors to key out or to fill text will not work inside premiere pro, this error started when I updated my mac os to yosemite.

    Hi Transportation,
Does the error occur in OS X 10.9? If not, why not remain at OS X 10.9? Is it necessary to run OS X 10.10?
The general rule of thumb is that when you are running software that is no longer tested or supported on a new operating system, you have to prepare for anomalies like this. You may want to install a separate bootable hard drive with OS X 10.9 on it so you can continue running that software more reliably.
    Hope that helps,
    Kevin
