  • Using third party service to access Project Online data.

    Hi,
I have read an article: What's new and what's out for developers in Project 2013. There was a paragraph called "Comparing project server on-premises with Project online".
In that paragraph it is written (in part about Online Project):
"Can use the PSI, but not supported: no OAuth and no service-to-service connections."
Does that mean that I will not be able to connect to Project online account from another service to get data say for analysing on a different resource and after it send it back to Project online?
    Thank you,
    Ruslan

The only open question is what did they mean writing:
"Can use the PSI, but not supported: no OAuth and no service-to-service connections"
    That's written about Project online
    Does anyone know the answer?
    Thank you

  • Online data migration

    Hello experts
I have a requirement to send the Invoice and Voucher details from our portal to Financial.
Use case is something like this
-> the Invoice and voucher details will be entered by user @ portal screen, the same need to store to financial.
I am just looking for the mode of data transfer. Since i am new to Finanial i don't know what is the way to do this. Is there any API or Web service or any other Listener / Adaptor available to achieve this task?
    Plesae suggest me something.
    Dinesh

    Dinesh
Once your invoice and voucher are entered in the Siebel you need to raise some kind of message in Siebel that can be consumed in Oracle if you want that to be real time. This can be a web service or a simple business event registered in Oracle Business event system using source and destination database setups (you have more details in Workflow admin guide of Oracle).
When this event is getting dequeued by Agent listener it will have to use AP Interface or AR interface depending on whether this is AP invoice or AR invoice.
But the issue is with the master data. You need to ensure to have supplier or customer, accounts, items if you are using them so on to create these invoices.
You can schedule import programs that import data from these interfaces into oracle base tables of financials for further propagation.
Unfortunately there are no (atleast I am not aware of till R12) public APIs available at this time to load the data directly for AP invoices and AR invoices.

  • Data Migration questions

    Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating my SQL Server 7 database to Oracle 10g R2 using SQL Developer (Version 1.5.1).
When migrating the data, the process terminated half way through due to network problem.
Is it safe to re-do the data migration from there?
Will SQL Developer migration workbench "know" when to pick up from where it last stop? Will this create duplicate records in the target database?
Any recommendation on the best approach to migrate the data will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    wilora

    Hi Wilora,
SQL Developer will not "know" of the previous data migration.
You need to truncate all your tables first. You can write a quick script to do this.
    SELECT 'truncate table ' || table_name || ';' FROM user_tables ; -- obviously be connected to your migrated user.
Then perform the data migration again. Online data migration is only suitable for smaller datasets ,say <100 mb. If you have a network issue again. I would truncate the tables so they are ready to receive the data again. And use the offline data move method.
Heres a quick viewlet of the offline data move

  • Data migration of Inventories

    Hi All,
I am working on a segmentation project for Data Migration and have a question.
We are trying to migrate the Inventories from SAP 4.6c to SAP 4.6c.
Earlier we thot of moving only Unrestricted one but now client's asking to move all others like return stock, inspection stock, blocked stock.
But is it a good practice a new system with lot of Return stock, inspection stock. Is it ok?
If any important things to keep it in my mind while doing this, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Sharath.

It is always advisable to have as much stock in 'unrestricted' bucket as possible. Moving inventory with more than a few buckets as in your case may lead to inconsistensies. So one has to be very careful and always try for more and more unrestricted stock.
    Good luck!!

  • Alternative tools for Data Migration

    Hi,
in case the  online P2V Migration scvmm 2012 take about 1 hour to complete
do we lose any changes on the live server during this hour ??
    Ramy

    Hi Ramy,
    >>do we lose any changes on the live server during this hour ??
" Offline P2V is the most reliable way to ensure data consistency because it creates an exact copy of the source computer while it is not in use. "
I didn't see any data sync after create VSS shadow copy from the process of P2V within following article :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc764232.aspx
So, in your case you will lose 1 hour data after creating vss shadow copy while using online P2V .

  • Project Online - offline project plan prompts for date range to be entered when accessing Resource Usage view

When I save a project plan to my local computer from Project Online and open it up in an offline mode and access Resource Usage view I get prompted with Date Range dialog boxes with the first one saying "Show resources/assignments that start or finish
after:" and the second one with "And before:".
I don't have any filters that are setup in Project Online that are not available in offline mode to trigger these prompts.
Please let me know what could be causing the date range prompts. Thanks.

    Hi,
You probably retrieve an enterprise filter into your local file. Just open the organizer from MS Project, go to the filter tab (be sure to have your project selected in the drop down menu at the top left of right of the organizer) and delete the date range
    filter.

  • Sql Developer MSSql Migration, Online data move, image to long raw mapping

    Hello,
my task is to migrate a MSSql Server Database to Oracle 10.2.0.4 with SQL Developer Version 2.1.1.64
and JTDS JDBC Driver oracle.sqldeveloper.thirdparty.drivers.sqlserver 11.1.1.58.17.
Capture, convert and online data move works except data mapping from MSSql image to Oracle long raw dataype.
I need to map MsSql image to oracle blob, to achieve online data move!
is Sql Developer online migration MsSql image to oracle long raw possible?
I know that long raw is outdated, but i'm dba and not responsible for the software part.
What options should i try? offline data move? can MS Bulk Copy Program export image data and SQL*Loader import into long raw?
    Any experience or tipp?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi user12132314 ,
I do not see any 'long raw' options on our current SQLServer 2005 data type mapping. (Raw is a separate 2000 byte data type).
The usual route for SQLDeveloper is to go to Blob.
Online - this is simple & automated.
Offline - this actually goes via hex output in bcp to sqlldr, read in as CLOB which is then encoded to blob. (This is automated)
(Online 'Copy to Oracle' option, right click on table, may be of use if advanced features not included in the select such as defaults are not required, it copies over a select * from table, including blobs)
To move you from blob to long raw after migration can be done (easily enough if Oracle database >=10g so the stream does not have to be in smaller 'chunks')
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:3938270166267830::::P11_QUESTION_ID:702825000306
I can look into this if you want to go down this route.
Note however that long raw has drawbacks and blob is preferred, see
    Oracle® Database SQL Language Reference
    11g Release 2 (11.2)
    Part Number E17118-04

    LONG Data Type
    for example one restriction is:
A table can contain only one LONG column.

  • SAP PS Data Migration Project

    Hi,
This is my first data migration project. We have to migrate SAP PS transactional data from SAP 4.7 to SAP 6.0. My task is to migrate WBS element data to the new system. To do that I need to do field and Value mapping also. Please suggest how do we go about completing the task at hand and also suggest what else do we migrate in SAP PS.

    Hi,
If it is a new system, you can use BDC/LSMW/BAPI for uploading the data to PS.
Also topic have been already discussed in the forum. You can refer below threads for more info:

  • How to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online?

    Hi Guys,
    Is it possible to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online directly? I heard we normally have to take 3 hops for this;
    1. Project Server 2003 - Project Server 2007 migration.
    2. Project Server 2007 - Project Server 2010 migration.
    3. Finally, Project Server 2010 - Project Online migration.
Is there a migration tool we can use to simply jump from Project Server 2003 to Project Online?
    Thank You,
    Arnel

NO, directly you can not migrate. You have to follow the sequence
    1. Project Server 2003 to project server 2007
    2. Project Server 2007 to project server 2010
    3. Project Server 2010 to project server 2013 online.
Unfortunately we dont have nay tool which will help us to do this .
Microsoft has a virtual machine (2007) that you can use to jump to 2007. Basically the databases of 2003 must be converted to 2007. Once this is done (database at 2007) you can use this database as start point to be converted to 2010.
Microsoft has virtual machine for 2010 too if you want you can use it rather than creating your own environment.
Don't use 2007 backward compatibility mode in 2010, we experienced some issues with it.

  • Data Migration for Open Purchase Order

    Hi, All,
Is there anyone know how to Count the volume for Open Purchase Order. What's the normal strategy for the Data Migration and Cut-over stage?
My client want to know how many Open Purchase Order in the legacy system and then determine manual or automatic data migration. If manual, how to do? If automatic, how to do? Because all materials and vendors, plants are different number. How to track? How to find out to match between new and old?
    Thank you very much

    JC,
Sounds a bit early to be making decisions about the realization phase.  It doesn't sound like you have finished the Blueprinting phase yet, much less the testing phase.
Anyhow, in my experience I typically use LSMW (Legacy system migration workbench) to load MM master data (material masters), Inventory (WIP, RM, FG, etc) Purchasing Master data (Vendors, Purchase Info Records, Source Lists, Quota Arrangements), and Purchasing transactional documents (POs, PurReqs, Scheduling Agreements, etc).  Depending on the complexity and volume of data, it  may be necessary to write custom programs to load the data.  You will find this out during your requirements gathering.
It is uncommon but possible to load all of these data manually.  I have never run across a client that wants to pay a consultant's hourly rate to sit at a terminal to peck away loading master data, so if the client intends to have his own users enter the data manually, the project manager should make provision that there will be qualified TRAINED client employees available for this data entry.  I did help with a portion of a conversion once manually; of Sales Credits, but there were only about 30 SD docs to load.   I did this the evening before go-live day, while I was waiting for some of my LSMW projects to complete in the background.
A good opportunity to 'practice' your data loads is right after you have completed your development and customization, and you have gotten the approval from the client to proceed from the pilot build to the full test environment.  Once you have moved your workbench and customization into the client's test environment, but before integration testing, you can mass load all, or a substantial portion of your conversion data into the qual system.  You can treat it like a dry run for go-live, and fine tune your processes, as well as your LSMW projects.
Yes, it is good practice to generate comparisons between legacy and SAP even if the client doesn't ask for it. For Purchase orders on the SAP side, you could use any of the standard SAP Purchasing reports, such as ME2W, ME2M, ME2C, ME2L, ME2N.  If these reports do not meet the requirements of the client, you could write a query to display the loaded data, or have an ABAPer write a custom report.
You didn't ask, but you should also do comparisons of ALL loaded data - including master data.
It sounds like you are implying that the client wants YOU to extract the legacy data.  For an SAP consultant, this is not very realistic (unless the legacy system is another SAP system).  Most of us do not understand the workings of the myriad legacy systems.  The client is usually expected to produce one or more legacy system technical experts for you to liase with.  You normally negotiate with the technical expert about every facet of of the data migration.  In addition, you will liase with business users, who will help you and the implementation team to logically validate that the final solution (turnkey SAP production system, fully loaded with data) will meet the client's business needs.
Finally, you mentioned how do you track the mapping of master data between legacy and SAP.  There are many ways to do this.  I normally try to get the legacy person do the conversion on his end, eg, when he gives you the load file, you would like to have already translated the master data and inserted the SAP relevant values into the file.  If this is not possible, I usually use MS Access databases to maintain a master map, and I perform the mapping on a PC.  If your data package is small, you can probably get by using MS Excel or similar.
    Good Luck,

  • Data Migration of FI-CA Cleared Items

    Hi,
Currently I am working on a Data Migration project to migrate data from our FI-CA  module on ERP 4.7 to ECC 6.0.
THere has been a request from the business to migrate historical data (e.g. Cleared items).
Is there a SAP recommended approach or tools to load this data into the target environment?
Currently all documentation around SAP data migrations talks about stategies for open item data migration however I have seen nothing arouund migrating historical financial data.
Is this because it is not recommended or technically impossible?
    Regards
    Adam Gunn

That BAPI is used typically for straight out vanilla GL, AR, AP postings, however you still have to create the other side of the entry and then clear it.
I need to be able to migrate full history, which means from an FI-CA  viewpoint:
    1. Migrate FI-CA posting of liability against BP/contract account.
    2. Migrate associated payments.
    3. And then clearing documents.
Basically the requirement is to represent the historical data in the new system as if it was posted and matched off.
Is there a technical way to do this?
    OR,
Do you migrate the FI-CA liabilties, then the associated payments and then run clearing on the target system?
I suspect this is almost an impossible data migration requirement as development of the extraction and load process would be extremely complex and testing would take months to cover all posting scenarios in FI-CA. However, I would be interested if anyone has attempted to do this before.

  • Data Migration from Legacy System in CRM

We are going to Implement a new CRM project, I have a problem with LSMW(Legacy System Migration Workbench ), I have some Conversion Objects of CRM and I need to know whether Data Migration is possible or not, please tell me how to find these Objects and how to know Data Migration is possible or not.
    Objects are like.,

    18. Service Order History
    19. Security Deposits
    20. Reference Values
    21. Rate Changes
Can anybody please tell any transaction code in CRM where can I find the Data migration for the above objects is possible or not.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sai.

    Hello,
for migration into CRM I would suggest the 'XIF-Interfaces'; these are interfaces provided in CRM for connection to external systems. I'm not sure if this will cover all objects mentioned above, but at least some of them should exist.
Some information about existing interfaces can be found in the integration repository under http://ifr.sap.com/index.html; from the start screen first select 'Enter the repository' and then have a look under 'generic components' and 'SAP CRM'.
