Project panels tabs randomly change on launch

I recently started noticing that my project tabs are getting all jumbled up when I reopen projects. Here's an example:
This is how my tabs look when I close my project:
...and here's how they look when I reopen it:
Notice how the tabs have changed completely – some tabs open at the root level, others in specific folders and some tabs changed their view from list to grid. This has to be a bug since it only started happening about 2 weeks ago. I already put in a bug report with Adobe but until they get around to fixing it, does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like the same issue discussed here: Project panels tabs get reset to root level at project launch!
You'll find a proposed workaround there.

  • Tabs randomly change sort order

    Hi,
    trying out some Numbers 3 documents on Mac and iPad. Each has several tabs (6-10) and 3 iPad forms. Every other time I open the file, some of the tabs are in a differen order. Mostly those to the far right move two or three tabs to the left.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    Thanks

    At the risk of sounding like a salesperson for the company, have you considered using an app that does not involve iPhoto at all?
    To transfer images to my iPad in the order I require I use Airsharing HD, this allows your iPad to show up as a drive in the finder, connection is established over your wifi network and transferring files is simple case of dragging and dropping onto the iPad.
    If you have prepared a folder of images on your home computer they will remain in exactly the same order/names when you move them over, the app has the option to view single images or will run it's own slide show of the images in the folder. The app makes a dedicated storage area for files transferred in this way and these files are not seen in iPhoto so no syncing via iTunes etc.
    I am unsure if you can run a preprepared presentation but the apps own slide show feature will allow you to present your images in a sequence if that is what you require, it may not have all the fancy features of a dedicated program.

  • Change the default arrangement of tabs in the Project Panel

    With every new project, I'm having to manually re-arrange the tabs in the Project panel to suit my workflow.   Specifically, I'd like to permanenly change the tab order so that the "Good" tab is listed first, followed by Video Duration..etc.
    Can this be done ?

    The Project Panel's Metadata Display dialog allows you to select which metadata properties are displayed as columns. You can save multiple Metadata Display profiles. Note, however, that these saved settings define only which columns are displayed.
    The order of the columns is saved as part of the workspace. To save a custom workspace, set up all the panels, columns, etc. just the way you like, then go Window>Workspace>NewWorkspace.
    With any workspace, if you change things around and want to get back to the saved settings, go Windows>Workspace>ResetCurrentWorkspace.
    By the way, a minor point of terminology, in PPRO parlance "tab" usually refers to the top of the panel that you click to switch among panels in a frame. What you're asking about is columns. One reason that it's worth calling out this distinction is that workspaces save both the tab organization and the column organization.

  • Tab between custom meta columns in the project panel

    If you've got a custom meta column in the project panel and you use are editing the previous column and then use the keyboard tab key to move to the next column (the custom meta field), that column is selected but not you can't edit it with out clicking in it with the mouse. This is not the case with built in meta columns such as the "comment" field.
    Does anyone know of any way to tab into a custom meta field and then have a further keyboard shortcut that puts the field into edit mode?

    Ok, found the answer already. Tab and then tab a second time.
    Obviously this seems wrong and would be better if the first tab allowed you to edit immediately.
    UPDATE: Spoke too soon. This is definitely a buggy mess. Sometime tabbing into a custom field makes it editable immediately. Other times, a second tab makes the field editable, sometime the second tab just moves you to the next field. And there seems to be no pattern, I can tab and shift-tab back and forth between custom fields and the behave seems to change at random. I'll log it as another custom meta bug!

  • Hi, How to change date pattern in project panel in order to sort media according to date YYYY-MM-DD and not MM/DD/YY ?

    Hi
    Question is in the title
    I have the list of media and when I add columns from "metadata panel to the project panel, all dates are MM/DD/YY format and sort is not relevant !!
    Where can I change this pattern to the right one ?
    Thanks
    Emmanuel

    If you are on a PC then the instructions shown here should work for you. They did for me.
    Change the display of dates, times, currency, and measurements - Windows Help
    You just need to quit out of Premiere Pro after making the change and then start it up again.

  • Project Panel seems to be freezing when I try to make changes

    I have a project that I have been working on for some time without any problems.  Now however anytime I try to make any changes in the project panel it isn't updating, i.e. of I delete a clip it still stays in, I try moving a clip, nothing.  I even tried starting a new project from scratch and it wont even let me add clips.
    Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this?

    Thank you for your answer.
    And...Yes, i did : i inserted the install disc and started up holding the C key. Many time. But each time, the logo of install disc appeared during ten minutes and then, during the installation, he disappeared suddenly with no reason. And in  the same time the computer turn off.
    The beginning of the storry : my son made long time ago (a year) the partition between Mac and Windows. Everything was fine.
    Recently, He decided to give more memory space to windows.
    He could do that directly (perhaps, was there a way but he did'nt know it)
    For this reason, he decided to desinstall Windows in a first step before reinstalling it.
    But before doing this, he decided to re install all the system, like for cleaning his computer...and then, since, it's a big mess.
    You know everythin now.
    Could you help us ?
    Thanks by advance.

  • Flash pro cs5.5 project panel librarypath different from fla librarypath

    Hi,
    I have a flash pro cs5.5 project which i can browse in the project panel. (Window -> Project to open panel)
    I went to the settings dropdown in the panel -> project properties -> paths tab -> library tab
    I added a path to a swc here.
    However if i open the startup fla of the project
    and go to File -> Actionscript settings -> library path
    the previously added path is not there!
    Why are these two paths different?
    The startup fla needs to use some classes in the added swc.
    I only added the swc to the library path from the project panel.
    I was hoping the fla will compile and publish swf successfully!
    This does not happen . So what good is this project panel -> library path settings for?
    I need to use the project panel library path because i am opening this flash pro project in flash builder and any changes to build path done in flash builder only reflect in the library path in the project panel back in flash pro cs5.5
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks
    Soham

    the project panel is just a convenience panel for you to use to access your flash project's files without using a file browser.  it has nothing to do with your publish settings.
    if you don't see a great need to forego using your file browser, join the crowd.  the project panel was an idea with no great benefit.
    someone probably made a big to-do about it and got enough people to vote for the feature so adobe added the feature.  and then found nobody cared so, it's not going to be in the next flash pro version.

  • Panel tab page template application

    Dear All,
    I would like to ask for comments regarding what I have done since I can't find a good resource that
    can point me to the right direction.
    My Use Case:
    I have a jsff page with a panel tab as the outermost component. Inside it are a variable number of showdetailitems.
    My requirement is for me to apply a certain template to all detail item. What I did was embed the page template inside
    each iterator.
    <af:panelTabbed>
          <af:iterator>
              <af:showDetailItem>
                   <af:pageTemplate viewId="/MyTemplate.jspx" value="#{bindings}">
                        <!-- Components go here -->
                   </af:pageTemplate>
              </af:showDetailItem>
          </af:iterator>
    </af:panelTabbed>To my surprise, it did not cause an exception and my components follow the changes that I am doing in the template
    I read from a previous post from Frank that *'not because its not throwing an exception then its okay'.*
    I have used templates to style my pages but they are at the top of my page. In this case, my use case is different.
    Comments are very much welcome.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    dynamic declarative components would do the same trick. Unfortunately those are less well documented. In summary, a dynamic declarative component is a JSFF page that you define Facets for and FecetRefs in (this is where users then add the content (or in your case the showDetail content would be generated in). Below is a simple sample:
    JSFF page

    <af:componentDef var="attrs">
      <af:xmlContent>
       <component xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich/component">

  • Feature Request:  Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

    It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request.  I've wanted to see this one for a while.  If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
    System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
    Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse.  I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
    I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation.  A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
    Moust Back Button = "BACK"
    ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
    UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
    UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
    ENTER opens a folder.
    ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
    ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
    F2 Renames a folder
    ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
    ESC cancels the renaming operation.
    Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context.  (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor.  ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor.  ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
    These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers.  When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect.  It's muscle memory, if not intuitive.  I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence).  And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
    Preference:
    checkbox:  Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
    checkbox:  Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
    The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
    The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin.  Of course that doesn't work.  And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too.  I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER.  Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
    I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr.  However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.

  • .js update of spry accordion panel tab data for countdown functionality

    Hi,
    First off I must say I really love the work done on CS3 and
    the Spry Framework - loads of examples and nicely implemented!
    Questions in a nutshell:
    Can I change spry generated data on the fly so I can run a
    .js counter function to dynamically update accordion panel data?
    What event do I look for to fire a .js init function to see my new
    spry widget (onPostLoad isn't working for me, but I'm a newbie!)?
    * spry accordion
    * {expire} dataset data is SQL DATETIME
    * js countdown function CD_Init() searches DOM for specific
    element IDs 'countdownN' and uses innerHTML to update counter at
    specific interval
    * observer onPostLoad seems to be calling CD_Init before
    accordion DOM is loaded.
    Verbose questions:
    I am trying to tweek the output of a Spry Acoordion and
    wanted to add a third party js counter to my accordion panel tab
    and am having a bit of difficulty. The js code uses an innerHTML
    statement to keep the counter going and supports multiple counters
    (which I need to use one counter per tab). I build the multiple
    counter id from the ds_RowID field which is where the parent div
    element where the js changes the innerHTML. Can I do this? The .js
    searches for elements w/ an ID of "countdownN", N = instance # and
    a date format of '2007-09-08 00:00:00 GMT+00:00' and updates the
    div's text with the countdown time. My {expire} record below is an
    SQL DATETIME which is the correct format for this countdown.js
    function (with the GMT-05:00 appended).
    The relavant code is:
    <div id="specialDisplay" spry:region="dsSpecials">
    <h3>Click on a special below from our <em>LIVE
    FEED</em>  to see all the up-to-the-moment
    exciting packages available!</h3>
    <div id="AccordionSpecials" class="Accordion">
    <div class="AccordionPanel" spry:repeat="dsSpecials">
    <div class="AccordionPanelTab"
    onclick="dsSpecials.setCurrentRowNumber('{dsSpecials::ds_RowID}')"
    spry:hover="AccordionPanelLabelHover"><?php echo '<div
    id="countdown' .'{ds_RowID}'. '">';?>{expire}
    GMT-05:00</div>{dsSpecials::name}</div> <!--
    accordion panel tab -->
    <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
    <div spry:state="loading"><img
    src="./i/ajax-loader.gif"/></div> <!-- loading -->
    <div spry:state="error"><span spry:content="Error
    loading data..."></span></div> <!-- error -->
    <div id="details" spry:state="ready"
    spry:content="{detail}"></div> <!-- detail when ready
    -->
    </div> <!--accordion panel content -->
    </div> <!-- accordion panel -->
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var AccordionSpecials = new
    Spry.Widget.Accordion("AccordionSpecials", { defaultPanel: 0,
    duration: 1000, useFixedPanelHeights: false, enableAnimation:true }
    var observer = { onPostLoad: function(notifier, data) {
    CD_Init() ; /*alert("postLoad"); */} };
    //specialDisplay dsSpecials.addObserver(observer);
    Spry.Data.Region.addObserver("specialDisplay", observer);
    //-->
    </script>
    </div> <!-- accordion -->
    </div> <!-- specialDisplay -->
    I got the nice countdown.js script from
    http://andrewu.co.uk/clj/countdown/
    which allows N # of counters/page. I have updated this code to
    start checking for a zero based index that I generate utilizing the
    spry ds_RowID.
    I have added an observer to run the countdown's
    initialization function (to hopefully find all the "countdownN"
    element instances) under my dataset declarations:
    var observer = { onPostUpdate: function(notifier, data) {
    CD_Init() ; } };
    Spry.Data.Region.addObserver("AccordionSpecials", observer);
    Also tried to add the observer to a div surrounding the
    according w/ the "spry:region" specified.
    But, alas, I see the correct expire instance in my tab, but
    it looks like the counter is only firing before the actual data is
    loaded (i.e. I used FF's webdeveloper and set a break on the
    CD_Init function and it's breaking before the actual accordion is
    there - I see the dataset placeholders in my window for the
    accordion. When I continue, the accordion is generated, but my
    countdown isn't working because it looks to be firing before the
    DOM is updated w/ the accordion elements.
    Sorry for the long speil; I'm really a .js neophyte and just
    starting w/ spry - so I'm not even sure if I can/should change the
    HTML generated from spry. If not, is there anyway that I can have a
    countdown timer for each accordion's tab panel's associated
    {expire} data field? Any ideas and suggestions are greatly
    appreciated!!
    Thank you also for this forum - some great gems for
    development here!

    Sorry - the previous post is way too long.
    Is it possible to tie in a javascript update function (a
    counter update) to an element generated by a spry widget (a dataset
    value that generates spry accordion tab text) so that the accordion
    tab gets updated by the javascript function running under a
    setinterval?
    I've tried firing the javascript init function with an
    observer on the accordion's onPostUpdate event, but it's getting
    fired before the spry data is loaded. Is this something that's
    possible? Sorry for my lack of javascript expertise! Relying on the
    real experts here!
    Thanks for any advice/pointers.

  • Panel Tab as Link only (no content) in Accordian Widget?

    Is there a way for panel tabs that have no content to
    a) Close any other open panels when clicked
    b) Act as link of their own (they will navigate to separate html page rather than open accordian panel) and
    c) show active state when clicked
    I would be wanted 'Label 2' of the follwing panel to be a link to an external page, whereupon i will set that panel tab to be default active when they land there.
    <div id="Accordion1" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 1</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">Content 1</div>

      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 2</div>
      </div>
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 3</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">Content 3</div>
      </div>
    <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 4</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">Content 4</div>
      </div>
    </div>
    Hope i've made sense....
    Thanks in advance of anyone's help/advice (I ammeanwhile scouring the forums on the web).

    Why not?
    Be sure you have not set a height for the panel content, or you will end up with a normal tab with a blank content panel falling below it.
    I've never tried creating an accordion that had a tab completely without a content area, but that might work.
    So, put a link on your tab text and see if it functions the way you want.
    Regarding the Show active state when clicked, examine the accordion CSS file and fiddle around with things to change. It is likely that it is already set up to do that.

  • Thumbnails in project panel

    Hello,
    The thumbnails in the list view of the project panel are so small that I need a magnifying glass to see the picture.
    In the setup I have already selected the large icon.
    To see something, this thumbnail has to be minimum twice the size of the large icon.
    How can I change this thumbnail to a larger size than this small "large icon" ?
    I turned the thumbnail viewer of due to the same reason. It occupies space on the screen and you do not see anything on it because it is so small.

    Hubert,
    The size of the thumbs will be dependent on your monitor's rez. Here, we get into a situation like found on too many Web sites. If one's monitor is set to higher-rez, the images can be quite small.
    As has been suggested, you might use two monitors, with one's rez set lower. I did this for quite awhile in Photoshop, to see some of the "fine print." Now, with 2 - 21" CRTs (same as in older versions of Adobe), but with a major upgrade in my vid card, I run them both at the same rez (1280x1024, though the card and monitors will go beyond that), and with new reading glasses [Grin], I can see everything nicely.
    In your feature req., suggest one, or two, larger sizes, above what APP now allows. I have no idea what that would take, from a programming standpoint, but with higher-rez cards/monitors, I'm sure that the bigger thumbs will come into play more often.

  • Multiple Project Panels-why??

    I'm on Mac. For some reason, Premiere has this habit of randomly duplicating the Project Panel/Palette. So when I have a project open, I can sometimes have 3 or 4 of the same Project panel open. Even on a brand new Project. Is this intentional? I usually just go and close all but one. Can't understand why this would be a feature.
    Happy to be enlightened on this.

    They're all 'Project: Job name'
    It is weird.

  • Panel tabbed is not working in the page fragments used in a bounded task fl

    Hi,
    I tried creating a simple page fragment with a panel tabbed as below
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core">
    <af:panelStretchLayout id="psl1">
    <f:facet name="center">
    <af:panelTabbed id="pt1">
    <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 1" id="sdi1"/>
    <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 2" id="sdi2"/>
    <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 3" id="sdi3"/>
    </af:panelTabbed>
    <!-- id="af_one_column_stretched" -->
    </f:facet>
    </af:panelStretchLayout>
    </jsp:root>
    Then in an unbounded task flow, I added the bounded task flow which is just created above. when I run this page, the page is loaded but the tabs doesn't switch. When I click on the other tabs, it doesnt change, it is always active only in the first tab.
    Is this a bug in adf, or am I missing something?
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks,
    Sudarsan M

    Hi Vinod,
    Thanks for responding.
    I want a page fragment with tabbedPanel to be loaded in my dynamic region. As I am facing this issue, I tried very simple example of creating a page fragment with a tabbedPanel of 3 tabs.
    1. added this page fragment in an bounded task flow.
    2. In the unbounded task flow(adfc-config.xml) added a view with the some jspx page and then added the bounded task flow created above as a static region in this jspx page.
    3. When I run this view, I can see the page loaded with all the tabs in the page frament.
    4. By default the first tab is selected, but when I tried to click on the other tabs, there is no response. It still stays in the first tab only.
    Thanks,
    Sudan

  • Projects Panel and metadata

    Two questions:
    1. In Library part of Projects Panel, there are preset folders/albums/whatever at the top grouped by year (2007, 2006, etc.). Their icons are different from the Projects icon, folder icon, album icons... what are they? And how do I set up some of my own (for pix from many years, as much as 10, 20 years ago)?
    2. If they rely on metadata, I have a problem. A lot of my older pix have no accurate metadata... specifically the dates are not right. How can I modify the content of the metadata, within Aperture if possible, to make them accurate and thereby usable with Smart Albums?
    Thanks for any help provided... patrick

    The preset smart folders are fixed, and you can't create any more of them in that particular section under the Library (from what I've read in the documentation). They do indeed rely on the metadata - they appear to take the date from the Image Date field from the Photo EXIF info.
    I thought you could have done a Batch Change (Metadata > Batch Change...), but it will not allow you to select EXIF data to modify, only IPTC.
    You can create as many additional smart folders that you want, though, and the sorting does not have to be based on the EXIF data. The "Calendar" function, though, also uses EXIF, not IPTC. What I tried briefly that seemed to work:
    1. Use Batch Change to modify IPTC data for "Date Created" to the real date.
    2. Create a smart folder for each year you want. Add an IPTC line, select "Date Created" and the function "Contains" and type the year (e.g. 1978). If you want the folder to handle a full decade, just use the first three digits (e.g. contains 197).
    Hope this helps.
