Project Presets

I'm using Apple ProRes 1920x1080, 30fps in Final Cut. That preset isn't there in Motion. How do I set motion to that size and frame rate?
Thanks!!!
Bob Couter

Sorry, please disregard. I just used File > Import as Project... When I do a Command-J to see the project properties it shows me a preset of "Broadcast HD 1080i60"

I am trying to determine the new project preset for a multi-camera video shot as follows:  3 Canon camcorders,
Main shot is DV (tape) (720x480, 29fps) - ceremony and reception
    b-roll is DVD (mini-disk) (720x480, 29fps) - bride preparations
additional b-roll is AVCHD (1920x1080, 29fps) - groom preparations and misc all day ceremony and reception.
Film is from a wedding, DV contains main footage so I assume it will need to be the base.  I am planning to use the preset for DV-Widescreen.  Is there a better option?  I'm concerned about playback as the three appear to have different PAR.  I'm using Premiere Elements 10 on W8.
Ultimately this will be burned for two formats - one for a DVD that can be watched on a widescreen TV, second for a short clip trailer to go on vimeo.
(And no I won't be doing this again for a wedding that I shoot.)

Please review since I am not sure how you obtained Video 3 tall when you scaled Video 3 with Constrain Proportions in effect.
    Before
    After
It becomes a zoomed in effect to get rid of the black borders. But, there is no tall and thin involved anywhere.
And, after the Scale increase, you can always click on the screen and move the image around a bit
(without overdoing it to get black borders again).

  • How to create a custom Project Preset Premiere Elements 9?

    Hi,
In the help documentation of Premiere Elements 9 it says that i can create a new Project Preset: "The procedure for creating a preset differs if you’re changing settings for an open project versus establishing settings for a new project. Presets you create can be applied to new projects, and if you want to back up or distribute preset files, you can find them in the Settings subfolder of the Adobe Premiere Elements folder on your hard disk." (url).
Sadly, i can't find the specific instructions that would help me to establish settings for a new project and save it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Steve,
Below is the spec of the footage. I get this info using "VideoSpec". The thing I can't match a preset Full HD 1080i 60(59,96).

  • HELP I chose SD project preset instead of source material's HD and I have finished editing, can I change this?

So I have been working on this music video for a long time. I finished yesterday and today I tried to export the video. It had this strange black box around it and the quality was bad.
A little digging showed that the whole time my project presets were for some reason 640x480 SD instead of the 1920x1080 HD of my source video clips, so even if I tried to export in 16:9 HD, stretched 4:3 SD was the maximum quality I could get! The editing is very complex with lots of quick cuts, so there's no way I'm re-doing the whole thing, and I've already tried copying and pasting everything in the timeline to another project with the correct presets, and that doesn't work. Is there ANY way to fix this situation? I'm not too worried about transitions, if I lose those in the process it wouldn't really matter, but I want to save all my quick timed cuts between clips. I am using Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 7 64-bit. The source material is AVCHD 1920x1080p and a mix of 30p and 60p, and I want the final video to be the same but all 30p.
Thanks for reading and I really hope to solve this issue,
    Ben.

    Ben
Thanks for the update. Sorry that the new project was necessary. You did well making the transition from problem project to new.
However, you may have gotten into some trouble with your export settings. But, at least that can be corrected in the export of the new project and should not require starting from the beginning in yet another project. I am suspecting that your export is 1920 x 1080i 29.97 "M2T AVCHD" instead of 1920 x 1080p 29.97 "M2T AVCHD".
You appear to have used Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with the M2T H264 1920 x 1080p24. If you say that your export is 1920 x 1080 29.97, then you would have had to go under the Advanced Button of the p24 preset to customize the preset to 29.97 instead of 24.
But, now for the unexpected under that preset....if you use Frame Rate 24 frames per second, you have progressive settings. But, if you change the Frame Rate to 29.97 under the Advanced Button of the preset, you have interlaced settings. In the latter, note the fields for Upper or Lower for Field Order. That is interlaced video. Interlace video has fields, progressive video does not. And, if you do the export and read the properties of the export using a properties read out program, you confirm interlace and not progressive export. Confirm in project....
    Can you use the MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30 preset instead?
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Motion project presets have the wrong framerate

One of our computers has an issue with project presets in Motion. When you start a new Motion project, you have the option of picking from a list of presets for your project. Of these, the last 17 on the list have the incorrect framerate: XDCam HD, EX and HD422, as well as Broadcast HD 1080i50 and 1080i60.
    For example: XDCam HD422 1080p24 has a framerate of 29.97, 1080p25 is 23.98 and 1080p30 is 25.
Has anyone else seen this before?

    EDIT:
We just tried taking a good preset file from one computer and moving it to the other computer with the bad settings. Opened Motion, the preset was still incorrect. We then opened the file in TextEdit, and it showed the correct framerate.
So something else must be reading the framerate incorrectly.

  • Which Project preset for Canon 5D Mark 2 ?

Living in Europe I use PAL. But I am not sure if my camera (Canon 5D Mark 2) is AVCHD or HDV so I can  choose the correct project preset.
Then Full HD 1080i? Or should there be a choice of 1080p for this camera?     And finally  5-canal or not?

PRE does not have a 1080p option.
From the specifications (HD 1920 x 1080, MOV (Video: H.264, Sound: Linear PCM) you will need a "AVCHD Full HD 1080i 25" project setting.
I suggest you try with a small clip first to see how good the output is. Note that the Internet has many sob stories about using 5D video footage.
If you don't need to do too much with the file you could try QuickTime Pro - others post here saying that this is a great tool for .MOV files. I think you can also use QuickTime Pro to convert to a more PRE friendly format, perhaps other 'regulars' could comment.

Hi!My motion 3 now dosen't show projects presets.I tried unistall and install several times and i can't choose my presets, there only 720x480.Can someone help me please? Thank you so much and sorry my english

    Howdy,
Unfortunately, reinstalling from the disc over newer versions (e.g. Motion 3.0 over Motion 3.0.2) damages Motion and Compressor. You'll need to properly remove them and then reinstall. Apple has a support article on it here.

  • Project Preset to use with m2t files in CS4

I capture HD video from my Sony HDR-HC9 using the Sony capture utility.   The Sony capture utility can divide the capture into datestamp clips,  while Premiere Capture just does it as one file (If I am wrong about  this please let me know).
I want to know what project preset I should use with these files.  I  want to edit HD at the best fidelity possible since I want to be able  to export to various media types from DV mpg (for my cable access  shows), youtube, DVD, and blue ray.
I just bought a Sony VPC-F1190X with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4  installed.  So far it works beautifully with the m2t files with the HDV  1080i30(60i) preset or with the ACH-I 100 1080i60.

You question has been answered in the other thread.

  • Custom Project presets, PE 10

I'm using PE 10 on Mac OSX.  I'd like to create a custom project preset, as suggested in this thread, for use with my GoPro HD.
The default GoPro HD footage is 1280x960, progressive scan.
I can't locate any of the PE preset files in the finder to modify them myself.

Yes, thank you Steve, I did see that discussion.  Within that thread,Goproski found a way to create a new presets file using an one of the exisiting presets. He created a 1280 x 960 preset.  He even gave the directory location of the presets files.  I have a Mac, and I'm unable to find those same (or similar) files.
I did run the original footage through Cineform and then try to edit in PE10.  This was much better than trying to edit the orginal GoPro footage, but still very 'jittery'.
    Thanks again.

  • PE7: Project Presets missing

I searched for previous threads on this topic and performed the recommended steps to fix it:
    1. Tried reinstall>restart.
    2. Tried uninstall>restart>cleanup>restart>install>restart
    3. Deleted pref file and forced PE7 to create a new one.
None of the above steps helped. The project presets are still missing when I try to create a new project. I am forced to stick with 'DV NTSC Standard 48khz'. Can someone help me with this? Maybe someone can upload their presets in a zipped file and tell me where I should unzip them in my PE7 install structure.

Premiere Elements 7 missing project settings...

Re: Premiere Elements 7 missing project settings...
See the last post on this.
    Hi all,
There is an even easier way to do this - avoiding the installation and all
that... Just follow the steps below:
    1) Download the Premiere Elements 7 trial version from adobe.com (or even
better - I have attached the file to this post)
    2) Run the extractor but cancel the install-process. Now all installation
files are extracted in a folder. In my case I extracted to "\desktop\Adobe
    Premiere Elements 7"
    3) Open the folder '\Adobe Premiere Elements 7\CoreTemplates' with in the
    folder you extracted to.
    4) Extract the file 'settings.zip' to a folder of your choice
    5) Now copy the folder (and subfolders) with the same language code of your
PRE7 installation (In my case I copied the 'en_US' folder) into the Adobe
program folder in a subfolder you name 'Settings'. (In my case running a
danish windows the path is 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements
    7.0\Settings'
When finish you shold have a folder called 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Premiere Elements 7.0\Settings\en_US' with subfolders..
And voila - settings is back in the startup window...

    Hope this clears things up.

  • What project preset for HD TV PAL ?

    Hi,
    UK is my location.
    Premiere Pro CS3.
    HD TV's are 1920 x 1080 resolution.
New project>select a preset, I can see HDV 1080p25 and thats 1440h 1080v.  480 less in width, thats a lot. 25% in fact of a HD TV width.
Does CS4 have a preset for HD TV ?
Likewise I dont see anything near HD Ready, 1366 x 768 is a common HD Ready, the HDV 720p25 preset gives 1280h 720v, I dont see this on any TV resolution charts either.
Why are the presets not the resolutions in use on TV's or on the Wikipedia chart of such http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vector_Video_Standards2.svg ?
What should I be choosing for a HD video making project or HD Ready ?
    Would CS4 offer those I need ?
    Envirographics

    Hi,
Ah...now understood on presets should match original footage. Thanks for that.
In my case though I have only stills and was thinking of making a slide show with also a montage pan .
What would I choose in that situation if aiming to make the video for HD 1920 x 1080 ?...no preset there that match my camera resolution of 3504 x 2336, I dont though see the point of working with 23Mb files as the TV cannot make use of all those pixels, no doubt Premiere will deal with that but such may slow it down during the project. I thought of resampling to suit a preset so hence the quandary again, what preset to use.
I have sussed from surfing the net that 1:1 pixel aspect ratio and progressive will be good for stills.
I have surfed the net for advice on stills and resolutions but not seen anything on this aspect of what project preset to start with. No tutorials either. Grateful to know of any links though to such.

  • Premiere elements 7 and project presets

    Hi,
I have a question regarding quality of edited video and project presets. I use a Panasonic HDS-9 AVCHD camcorder which is set to record at the XA 1920 x 1080 full HD mode. Once the mt2 files are in Premiere I have tried two of the project presets. Full HD 1920 x 1080 5.1 Channel (PAL) and HD 1440 x 1080 5.1 Channel (PAL). I have burnt to folder and then used DVD shrink (no compression settings used) to package it into an iso file so I can use the file with menus on my Freecom media player which attaches to my Panasonic HD ready TV using component jacks. What I have found is that the HD 1440 x 1080 preset appears to produce very slightly better quality. I was not able to explain what the exact difference was until my 7 year old son described the difference as being 'one of them looks more shiny'. What I think is happening is that anything that has movement, however slight, is creating very marginal screen smear which makes that part of the screen seem less clear. It is not bad and had I not tried the 1440 setting I would probably have accepted it. The trouble is I am fussy, and now that I have seen the difference I need to find out what other problems I may run into if I use the lower preset as the information in Premiere seems to suggests that I should be using the Full HD preset if the footage was shot in full HD. Anybody have any thoughts on this or experienced this?
    Thanks
    Lou

"What I have found is that the HD 1440 x 1080 preset appears to produce very slightly better quality" is what you say.
I have sought out your camcorder and checked its specifications and found:
From what I have read and what you have said, it sounds like your Panasonic HDC-HS9 is recording AVCHD (video MPEG-4 AVC/H.264; audio Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound) 1920 x 1080i50 (if you have a PAL version of the camcorder = 25 frames per second or 50 fields per second). At this point, I am not sure if you are recording to the camcorder’s hard drive or to a memory card.
So, I find it appropriate that you select your Premiere Elements project preset (New Project dialog) = PAL AVCHD Full HD1080i25 5.1 channel sound. Typically it is suggested that the project preset be as close as possible to the properties of the imported video to give you the appropriate frame work for editing. This does not prohibit you from making other export choices and downsizing as in this case. Although how well Premiere Elements 7 can downsize is another question. And, I suspect that your imported video has Fields = upper fields first.
If you tell me that you are burning to folder, that means to me that you are creating DVD-VIDEO files (presumed PAL 720 x 576 25 frames per second, with 16:9). And these DVD-VIDEO files would have Fields = lower fields first. And you are going from 1920 x 1080 with square pixels to 720 x 576 with a 16:9 flag. I am thinking Fields issue or 16:9 flag issue. But, then the question comes up, why not for both choices of project preset.
    Here comes my questions.
    1. How repeatable and consistant is this slight difference that you are seeing and relating to the project preset (New Project dialog)?
    2. Are you taking the same video, doing the same edits for the comparison of the project presets of PAL AVCHD Full HD1080i25 5.1 channel and PAL AVCHD HD1080i25 5.1 channel?
    3. I may be overlooking something tonight, but I cannot invoke a scenario to target the project presets unless you are doing something grossly different in the edits or using different videos in the comparison.
Since there is a lot going on after the DVD video files are generated, is there any chance you could do a mini comparison creating menus and burning to DVD in Premiere Elements 7 and determine if this difference exists then?
I need to think on this some more to include some aspects that I did not include here now.

  • AVCHD Project Preset Questions

I have video from a Canon HF10 (PF30) and Panasonic DMC-ZS3 (AVCHD 1280*720)  that I would like to process and eventually combine into a single 1920*1080p AVC or MPEG2 file using PrE.  Interspersed through this video will also be photo slideshows (1920*1080) and I'd like to use PrE all of the processing except that to downsize the photos.  I'm envisioning my workflow will include several steps that will process the diverse content into intermediate files that I will eventually combine into the final product.  What project presets should I use for the HF10, DMC-ZS3, and slideshows?  What is the best intermediate file format?
    Thanks in advance.

I would not recommend mixing formats in the same project. The best solution is to create an AVCHD project 1080 project for your HF10 video and then do an output from that, then create a 720p project (only version 8 has this project preset) and output the same video format from that. Once you've output the same format from each project, you can combine them with your still photos to create your project.
Which video format you output depends on what your final video will be. If you are creating a DVD, your outputs should be 720x480 AVIs. If you are creating a BluRay disc, your outputs should be 1440x1080 MPEGs.
To create a DVD from your parts, mix your output videos and your photos in a standard DV project.
To create a BluRay from your parts, mix your output videos and your photos into an HDV project.

  • Changing project presets | Adobe Digital School Collection | Adobe TV

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 is designed to make your life easier. In this lesson, you will learn the power of using presets so you don't need to specify certain settings. From NTSC to PAL, Premiere Elements 11 has it all covered for you.
    http://adobe.ly/Sg28NU

You talk about having the project presets match your video..  But are they really supposed to be what you want the output to be?
I am making a DVD of my kids to send to their grand parents.  My source isn't one camera.  Its a JVC camcorder and some videos from a Fujifilm digital camera.  They are both widescreen, but the camera is newer so its video is better quality (1080 instead of 720).  In addition, I want to interpose some stills from the camera into the movie as well.  And sometime in the next year I would like to actually be creating Blu-ray movies (I need to learn PE11 better and then get a Blu-ray burner).
So should I choose a preset that matches what I want the video out to be or one that matches the camcorder as most video will be from that source?
    Thanks,
    David.
