Project resource Management: Discoverer reports for Utilization.

Hello,
We are planning to use PJRs discoverer reports. Is it mandatory to use PJI for the same?
Also what is the exact difference in new and old utilizaiton models?
It will be great f you can point me to some proper docs on this one.
thanks fo ryour help

Hi
After applying patch 18308493 (note 1632924.1) I was able to assign a candidate to a requirement. The LOV in the search candidate form now shows people and the organizations. In HR the organizations marked as Project Expenditure/Event Organizations need the Realted Organization populated with the orgs Operating Unit and the Resource Default with the global calendar (click Others).
Using PA jobs and HR jobs does work when using the PA job mapping.
Kind regards
Chris

  • Resource Assignment without Project Resource Management Module

    Hi Dina,
We are implementing Oracle projects for one of our customers. The customer does not want to implement Project Resource Management module. Is it possible to assign resources to a project or create a new requirement using the Resources tab in Project screen (HTML page) without implementing the Project Resource Management module. Pls let us know.

    Hi
With Project Management you can assign resources to the work plan. Resources might be named people or generic resource by job.
You can track planned hours by resource versus actual time worked, You can look at roll-up of planned hours across multiple projects for the same resource, or summarization of planned and actual hours using the RBS.
However, you will not get the functionality of demand published to resource managers, and the search functionality for available person to join the requiring project.

  • Project Resource Management

Given all of the Oracle Project solutions out there (EBS, Primavera, Fusion, PeopleSoft), which of these is the best choice for a company that would like to do resource allocation, forecasting, etc? (taking Oracle's longterm vision in this area into perspective)

    Hi
The module Oracle Projects Resource Management deals only with human resources, employees, contingent workers, candidates.
This module is integrated with Oracle HRMS.

  • ORACLE PROJECT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT INTEGRATION PACK FOR PRIMAVERA P6 & EBS

    Hi,
Where can I get the software ORACLE PROJECT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT INTEGRATION PACK FOR PRIMAVERA P6 and Oracle E-Business Suite?
    Suggest me.
    Regards,
    Mini

It should be possible. However I will suggest you get in touch with your local sales representative for clarifying licensing policy. It may require you to purchase full license of AIA foundation pack and SOA suite.
Oracle is expected to release new PIP solution for P6 and R12. You may want to wait for that. Search the forum and you will find lot of threads with details.

  • Error Implementing Oracle Projects Resource Management

I'm implementing Oracle Resource Management and I've followed all the requirement/steps in the Implementation Guide. I realized that after I changed the flag "Include in Utilization" to Yes in the Job Definition, the request showed me the following error in log:

    Hi Dean and Dina,
Thanks for your answers. Following is the missing info:
    - Yes, we are using the AIA PIP
    - We are using 'Workplan enabled' projects for integration with a 'Partially Shared Structure'
    - In integration options, we are only integrating 'Workplan' with a 'Working Version'
    - We are trying to send only progress information from P6 to Oracle Projects, not the time card info
Iniitially, when trying to send progress from P6 to Oracle Projects, we were getting the error - 'You cannot update a published version of the workplan'
However, after checking the following flags, we stopped getting any errors in AIA/middleware and still not getting any data into Oracle Projects:
Projects --> Setup --> Integration settings:
Integrate - Workplan - Send Task - Current Working Version
Integrate - Workplan - Receive Task
    Workplan --> setup:
    Allow Physical Percent Complete Collection
    Allow Physical Percent Complete Overrides
    Thanks for your help.

  • Very very urgent Discoverer reports for non oracle applications

    Hi,
My client is using discoverer 10g with R12.He is using different non oracle applications like BRM Application (database is oracle only) for that they wants to develop discoverer reports. It is possible to integrate with non oracle applications with discoverer.
Can you please suggest me.It is very very urgent.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi
You're really not supposed to manage a non-Apps mode EUL and an Apps mode data within the same URL. Having said that, I have a hunch you just might be able to do it and there are 2 ways. You can either make the data available to user who login using E-Business Suite credentials or you can make it available to users who have database credentials. The first one is straightforward and you do it just like any other data. Let me give you some hints regarding the second method.
First of all I ahve not personally tried this and you may find that because Discoverer was initially set up in Apps mode that somewhere down the line it will make the suers connect this way. However, the following is worth a try.
I would a new schema in the Oracle E-Business database to manage the link to BRM and create a database link from this user to a user in the BRM database. You will also need to create user accounts within the database for anyone who needs to login and run BRM reports.
Next, I would create views in this new schema pointing at data across the BRM link, thus allowing Discoverer to think these are local objects.
In Discoverer Administrator, you would need to log in to Discoverer using the owner of the EUL - NOT using SYSADMIN or any of the other E-Business Suite accounts. You should log in with the Oracle Applications checkbox unchecked. You can now create new business areas on the BRM data. You should also be able to assign users to Discoverer privileges and users to business areas.
Using the same URL you would have Apps users connect using the E-Business Suite item on the drop-down for logging in and you would have BPM users choose the Business Intelligence Discoverer item.
Let me know how you get on

  • Resource management through report

    Dear experts,
I have developed a material tracking report.I want to make this report robust in terms of fetching output. Now this report fetches GRN records which may be about 200 in number for a single day for movement type 103/105 w/e.
This means for an year it could be 365 * 200 =    73000.
I tried this case of 1 year in DEV and found DEV server crashed as archive went beyond 100%.
How can i programmatically/otherwise control such exceptions of large data display.
I want that report should show some error message where records go beyond limit.

    Hi,
Based on your retrieved data and final internal table . Count the records . if the records are exceeding then give some error message
Else. before Select Query based on where condtion count the records before taking it in to internal table and count is exceeding the certain limit give your error message.

    Nandha

  • Monitoring, resource managing & logging application for desktop apps.

    Hi,
I am newbie as far as health checking, monitoring applicartions are concerned.
Actually we have several services written in java, & those services/apps. normally runs on differnet machines as a windows service.
I have to write a monitoring & controlling application for all those services.
    The monitoring application can atleast
    1) Start stop the services(apps) remotely
    2) Check the health of all the services running on separate machines.(heart beat)
    3) log the details provided by those application so track down if any problem occurs.
Which J2EE technology is usefull for htis, is JMX can used for standalone apps?
    -Thanks.

    HI jtahlborn,
    actually lets take an example.
LIke I have a samle java console apploication which is running in lopp & printing some thing.
Now I expose it using JMX by exposing the RMI service url.
Now I can see that the application is running using the jconsole remotely.
Now my task is to stop that application or start the application usng jcolsole or any JMX adapter UI.
I can't find any builtin start(), stop() method.are you attempting to start/stop the entire jvm, or a "service" within the jvm? the former will be tricky (or impossible via java alone), whereas the latter is exactly what jmx is designed for.
note, jboss actually accomplishes jvm restarts via jmx by running the jvm within a script which monitors the return code. a specific return code from the jvm will cause the script to loop and respawn the java process.
As far as logging is concerned.
I mean that the application running remotely send some log messsages to adapter which can be usefull to track where any request stuck. I think notification is the best way to do it.
Or JMS can be useful.jms would probably be overkill for remote logging, but certainly doable. the complication with remote logging is that you probably want to internally buffer some amount of the logs (in case the remote service seems to be hanging), so that you can access some amount of historical information. if you just log through some simple messaging protocol, when you attach to the log, you will only get new messages. like i said, it's not necessarily a trivial thing to implement, so using a 3rd party solution is preferable. for an example of what i'm talking about, check out the jboss jmx appender (adapter for log4j). although i don't think this does any buffering, it can feed another table (the AlarmTable) which can be queried for the current system status.

  • Resource manager and images being rewritten in the project root

    Hi everybody,
I began using the Resource Manager, and I created two folders, one with HTML files (topics), and another one with pictures present in those topics.
As I transferred the topics to the HTML shared folder the pictures references remained the old ones, i.e. the ones inside the project folder, right?
Therefore I began reassigning the pictures to the ones copied in the pictures shared folder, and here begins to be a little bit illogical and difficult.
I deleted the pictures from the original project folder as I want to save the space and have, of course, the pictures only in the shared folder, however after I reassign the pictures to one of the topics, and I sync it, the pictures I deleted appear in the root folder of the project.
I wanted to have the "common" pictures (they appear in 2 different projects) only in the shared folder (declared as pictures folder in Resource Manager) because if I do a modification of one picture, I would like to have this modification propagated in the second project, right?
And also save some space, as it does not make any sense to me to have the same pictures in 2 places (double space consumed) when I can have them in only one folder.
I would like to know how I can avoid this recopying of the picture files in my project folder, if possible.
    The procedure I used was:
    1. Found out which are the common topics for the 2 projects and copied them in the Resource Manager shared folder for HTML files.
    2. Found out which pictures were on those topics and copied them in the Resource Manger shared folder for pictures
    3. I included the shared topics into the project, and reassigned the pictures to the ones that are in the Resource Manager shared pictures folder
    4. I saved the topic, and did a sync in the Resource Manger
Did I do something wrong here?
    Thank you.

The repository has all the images you may want to use in any of your projects or elsewhere.
Each time you link in a project, that image only is copied to the project, not the whole repository. If either copy changes, you are notified. You then have the choice of updating the out of date copy or breaking the link because for some reason you now want the difference.
Your statement "I saw that if I use an external directory to the actual project where I have pictures, RoboHelp will copy those into the project's folder" is not correct. The Resource pod will show all the images available in the repository but only the ones in used in the project are copied locally.

  • Command Line and Resource Manager

When using the command line to compile a Robohelp project, is there a way to update the shared resources within the project before generation?
For example, say you have Project1 and it is using snippet1 in that project. However, snippet1 has been modified in the resource manager (just say, for argument's sake, that snippet1 is also used in Project2, and you modified the snippet there and synced it to the resource manager). When you do a regular command line compile, the snippet is not updated.
Is there a way to sync the snippets and images from the resource manager in the project before doing the command line compile (other than opening the project and syncing manually)? After all, if I have to open the project, there's no reason to command line compile since I'm already there and can just compile it from the project.
    Thanks!

I don't think that is possible as, correct me if I am wrong, even within RoboHelp the images don't get updated automatically. It's something you have to do.
It's a good point though so I suggest submitting a feature request.
The more people who request a feature, the more likely it is to be actioned. Please follow this link.

  • Project Resource Cost

We are not implementing Project Resource Management here.
What are the possible ways to enter the Cost incurred on an Employee (Salary) against the Project.
This cost has to be there on projects subledger as it will be considered to calculate the Project Revenue & Invoice using Cost/Cost Dist. Rule.

You don't need project resource management for this.
There are two ways to use the employee salary as project cost: -
    1. You can use the organization rate schedule and enter employee/resource payroll/salary rates.
    2. using labor costing extension, you will be able to pick up the payroll salary information from employee assignment element entry.

  • Crystal Reports for Eclipse

I installed "Crystal Reports fior Eclipse" through the update manager: no errors.
But i cannot crate a new Crystal Reports project. It is not an option.
    What am i doing wrong?

    Hi, Maurice,
If Crystal Reports is showing up in the Preferences window, but not the About box or New Project Wizard, then that's implying that it's not completely installed.  I'd recommend installing the all-in-one installation Shawn referred to (https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/450).
As for the About box, it's not actually the Business Objects logo that shows up, it's the Crystal Reports one - it's a green diamond sort of thing.  If you hover your mouse over it, "Business Objects" will be displayed.
Also, to start a Crystal Reports project, go to File | New | Project... with the dots, not the Project without the dots - this will launch the Select a New Project wizard.  Also note that the entries aren't sorted alphabetically.
Finally, in case it may be helpful, here's a document that takes you through creating a Crystal Reports project in Eclipse:
