Project Save Error

Why do I keep getting this error?  It happens every time I am in Prem Pro, and every few minutes.

>in the meantime I will try to run it as Administrator.

  • Premiere Elements 7 project save error and compatibility error on Win 7

I have installed Premiere Elements 7 on a Win 7 32 bit os HP8000 desktop.  When I try to save a project to H: drive on a Novell server, I get a "project save error".  You can save fine to the desktop, but not to the H: drive.  If you try to open a Premiere Elements 7 file (on the Win 7 machine) that was created on a WinXP machine with the same Premiere Elements 7 program, you get "Projects created with adobe premiere pro and adobe premiere elements are not compatible. Please use the appropriate application to open this project."
    Help please.  Thanks.

Solved.  The problem was to do with the Novell Client.  I installed the latest version (Client 2 sp1 ir4 for Win 7) and that solved the problem.
    fyi and thanks

  • Encountering a "Project Save Error"

    Hello -
I'm running Adobe's Creative Suite on a MBP with OSX 10.8.2. Since installing CS6, I've encountered the following problem with Adobe Premiere Pro: whenever I attempt to save the project, I get a "project save error" telling me I need to choose "save as" and save the project to another location. I can save another version of the project to any location, including the location where the original file is saved. This is a hassle, since it leads to several versions of a project sitting in one location. Does anyone have a way around this? So far, I've tried fixing disk permissions, uninstalling/reinstalling Premiere Pro, and saving to MacHD instead of my external hard drive, all with no success. I am attaching a screen shot of the error message in hopes that it helps. Thanks for your help,
    Steve

Over in the Windows world, running the program as Administrator (NOT the same as using an Admin account) sometimes fixes permission errors... http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395
I have NO idea how this is done in the Mac world... or if it is needed... but a couple of saved links may help

  • Premiere Pro Project Save Error

configuration: windows 7 64bit; Adobe Master Collection CS4; Windows Domain 2003; Mandatory roaming profile for student account. Students save work on a network share specific to their username (having full control of said folder).
issue: when opening an existing adobe premiere pro project, they can make changes, render, export etc. but when they click file->save it give an error:
    Project Save Error
Could not open the project file with write access. The file may be locked or you may not have permission to write to this location. Select 'Save As' from the File menu to save the project to a new location.
If we do select the save as option, we can save the file to the same directory from which the original project was opened (with a different filename of course). I believe this might be an issue with a temporary / cache location premiere pro is using but  I have been unsuccessful in finding any information on the temp locations and how it saves the working files.

In general, PPro is not really designed for a multi-user setup... or for networking
PPro really runs best when the "owner" is the Administrator... which I don't think you can do for students
Maybe someone else will come along with other information (I am just a standalone user) but I've seen a LOT of similar messages, and don't remember any solution other than running as Administrator, with files on a local (not network) computer

  • Project Save Error - write access

I am using PPro CS3 on WinXP SP2 at a business. I have full admin rights on my computer as well as all network drives. When i open a project and select "Save" I get the error message: "Could not open the project file with write access. The file may be locked or you may not have permission to write to this location. Select 'Save As' from the file menu to save the project to a new location"
I can select "Save as" and rename with no problems - other than having 12 versions of the same file. My company's service desk have checked that i have full write access to all drives. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Brandon

Check the attributes on the network file folder aren't set to read-only.
Right click on the file folder, select 'Properties', make sure "Read-only" is unchecked, and click OK.
Seems to have done the trick for me.

  • Project save error "Could not save could not parse then gobblygook

I had just finished training my wife on how to use STP and after a several hour project to create a fancy open for her radio program, the save project failed as "couldn't parse file then a bunch of gobblygook and strange charactors like it was code for about 6 lines. Could never back up enough in the project to save much of anything. I have never seen this in the many years I've used it. She has an intel Macbook.

Sounds like the account's Drafts mailbox has some corruption.
Assuming this is a POP type account, quit the Mail.app first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > Drafts.mbox.
Delete the Drafts.mbox folder and empty the Trash.
When re-launching Mail, a new Drafts.mbox folder will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder when composing the next message with the account and this should resolve the problem.

  • Auto save error msg

Something very strange has been going on recently with FCP 6. If FCP is open and I repair disk permissions I have had an error message come up saying Auto Save error can not auto save your project. Then on both occassions clips have gone certain clips have gone offline in the Timeline. Most of the footage we use is on one internal drive and all graphics etc is on another internal drive. None of these are the system disk. Is this something to do with disk utility repairing the structure of the disk and breaking the connection of the clips and FCP? What could be the Auto Save issue?

Nick's dead on about doing any sort of drive maintainence while fcp is running.  That said (after quitting fcp), you might run diskutility:  disk repair and Diskwarrior (if you've got it) on all your drives.  You may have some sort of drive corruption or immienent drive failure.
Diskwarrior is a utility that will analyze and repair drive folder structures that the diskutility sometimes can't.  Worth every penny.

  • Save Error code 44

    Hi all,
I am using labview 13.0 and I'm trying to save my project in another location using "Save As->Duplicate .lvproj file and contents" with all dependencies.  I select a location on my computer and it starts running. After it has run through a few files, I get the following error:
    Labview: Generic file I/O Error
    Cannot save class "setMaximumHeaterPowerMessage.lvclass"
Labview save error code 44: could not move temporary file to destination.
I press OK and it asks me to select an "Emergency Backup Destination for "setMaximumHeaterPowerMessage.lvclass" I do so and then get:
    Labview: Generic file I/O Error
    Cannot save class "setMaximumHeaterPowerMessage.lvclass"
I press OK and the saving process stops.
Googling the problem only led to a couple articles talking about virtualbox, which I am not using. I have enough space on my hard drive.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how I can fix it?
    Thanks in advance
    Solved!

Believe it or not but, it was because the path names of some files were too long

  • Save Error: File Type Unknown

    Ok So here it is
I've been working on a project all day, saving all along and suddenly at the end of the day I go to save one last time and I get an error of "Save Error: File Type Unknown". At first I thought there was an unsupported file type somewhere in the project so I searched out all my non-video elements and they all checked out OK.
I then started shutting down the machine at lunch and that seemed to remedy the problem at first, but now I get the error at least 6 times a week - VERY frustrating. I've tried doing save as, which results in either a full crash or the same error.
I thought that maybe somehow the constant frames files were getting corrupted during the course of editing some how and started trashing those - no change still get the error.
Also I am editing HDV and rendering out ProRes. So far no one has been able to help So I'm turning to you guys!
    Thanks guys!!

I created a duplicate of my application on apex.oracle.com - the problem happens under APEX 4.0 as well...
It might be easier to see what is happening here.

  • "Unable to Open Project File" - error

Does anyone know how to resolve an "Unable to Open Project File" - error. I accidentally shut down my computer wrong, although Final Cut wasn't open.

    Welcome to the forums.
The project file might have gotten corrupted. Look for the AUTOSAVE VAULT (typically in the DOCUMENTS>FINAL CUT PRO DOCUMENTS folder) and open the most recent version. Copy it to your main project folder if it works.
If not, then try trashing your prefs with FCP Rescue.

  • Save error when exporting to PNG in Illustrator using a Macbook with Yosemite

Anybody experience the issue of png being saved with "/" in the beginning of the file name when exporting to png in Illustrator? This only happens when I use my mac not my PC.
Due to the save error my PC cannot identify the files and when the files are linked in Indesign they are not copied when packaging the indesign file.
Any advice on the issue are most appreciated

I don't have a lot of experience with this kind of problem, but the first thing I'd check is the parameter block you're passing the action call. I don't know why it would matter if the dialog appeared or not, unless the export settings block wasn't being filled in with everything it needs?
You might try recording an export you perform manually via the action palette, and then saving it to a file. You can open it up manually and compare it (even if it's a binary block) to what you're doing in code. You might spot something that way.
I don't know what else to suggest though. It's unlikely to be an SDK bug, though it could be a bug in the action-aware part of the exporter.

  • TextEdit Save Error Message "you don't have permission..."

TextEdit, in both Mountain Lion and now Mavericks, displays what appears to be a fake "Save "error:
"You don’t have permission to write to the folder that the file “XXXXX.txt” is in.
Your changes will not be saved until the problem is resolved."
I have repaired permissions several times with no result. The permissions are clean, not requiring fixing.  I am Admin.  I should be able to save anywhere, altho I have tried saving in many different places just to test.
It does not ask for the Admin password.
    Here's when it happens:
    1) Open a document. either new or existing.
    2) Type some text in it.
    3) Save -- choose destination if new and it seems to work.
    4) Start typing in the document
    5) After a few seconds I get the above error message that drops down from the title bar at the top of the document.
    6) I have to click the OK button and I can go on typing.
    Repeat
Save document, type a few characters, get error message, click OK.
    Repeat all day long.
Yet it seems that my changes have been saved.
    Most annoying.

Wow.  Why bother reading the forum if you are convinced the solution isn't going to work before even trying it?
Another viewer besides myself commented above that they repeated the process and it worked for them, so it's not exclusive to my setup.
A search for textedit revealed 97 files.  The search took 12 seconds on my eight core Mac Pro.
I quit EasyFind, opened TextEdit and made a simple change in the preferences, saved and then quit TextEdit.
I searched again with EasyFind, sorted by Modified and found eight files had been changed at the exact time I quit TextEdit.  One of those is the culprit.  I deleted them all.
No, I don't work for EasyFind, nor do I know the people, nor do I receive compensation of any type from them.  I like it and recommend it because it just plain works and I like to share good info like that with the Mac community,  (BTW, it's free)
Good luck with solving it on your end.  If you find a more scientific solution please share it so we can see how it should be done by a real tech support guy instead of an amateur like me.  (I was an Apple Var at one time, now I do some support for my friends.  I'm on about my tenth Mac, the first being a Fat Mac, and have two Macs and an iPhone at this time.  No doubt I have no idea what I'm doing)
You really are funny!  You must be a, oh never mind, I was going to name a political party.
