Project Scheduling Logs

Hello Experts,
We have a requirement where we need complete log of rescheduling the project activity that means system should save the previous scheduling data as baseline, each time we reschedule that project. For example:
A project is scheduled in the start with proper relationship with six month of total period. After one month, activity dates are changed or some new activities are added. Complete project is rescheduled and dates are changed. Now the system should save the previous dates of all activities as a baseline and new dates to the activities should be assigned. It should happen each time we reschedule the project. In SAP standard system over writes the dates but does not save the previous dates.
Please guide in this regard that how can we meet this requirement. Thanking in advance.
Regards

Hi
In planning board you have this option, whenever you reschedule a project, it shows the previous date bar with a diffrent color and the rescheduled dates. But once saved and when you reopen the project, you cannot see the old dates.
Your expectation in the thread is that you want to have a history of the dates, whenever you reschedule the project.
The solution can be a combination of User status and a version profile for automic version creation for this user status.
In your case you can define two user status for the activity,
the first one(initial status) forbidding the rescheduling
the second one which permits reshedule
So whenver the user want to reschedule, he has to go to the second status before rescheduling.
Create a version profile which versions the project automatically in this second status.
But I am afraid of a disadvantage out here, the user should set the status back to first one after rescheduling. To avoid this you can try out some enhancement which sets the status back to first one whenever you exit the project.

    Luis,
    Have you tried this?
Navigate to the schedule PDP, in the browser address bar, append the string
    ?Contents=1, like thus:
    https://<your PWA Address>/Project%20Detail%20Pages/Schedule.aspx?Contents=1
This will open the Webpart Maintenance page. Now, select the Details
webpart, and Delete it. Once done, navigate bacjk to the webpart page, edit page, and re-add the Details Webpart to the page.
    This should fix your issue.

The Monthly scheduled task job say:

Its very urgent. I would be really appreciate if you could send it over to [email protected]
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Chandra,
Thanks for the reply. However I would need Generic Functional Design document.
I know that Functional Specs comes close to Functional Design but Functional Design is an High level document above specs.
If you could provide that, it would be really helpful.
    Thanks,

  • Edit custom task fields in Project Schedule

Is it possible to edit custom fields for a task in the project schedule in PWA?
At this moment we are getting a message that we have to use Project Professional to make this change.

    Michiel,
Which version of Project Server are you using? What kind of custom field is it?
In short, yes it is posisble to edit custom fields for task via PWA (2010, 2013), as long as it is NOT a formula driven field.

    Hi,
once chk the status of the job by selecting that and check job status(cltr+shift_f12)
since it was periodically scheduled job there will be a RELEASED job after every active job..
so try to copy that into another job using copy option and give some new name which u have to remember...
the moment u copy u can find the same copied job in SCHEDULED status...
from here, try to run it again on hourly basis....
After copying the job u can unschedule the old released job to scheduled otherwise 2 will run at a time...

  • How to disable Scheduler logging in CF10

    Hi,
In the coldfusion-out.log we are seeing scheduler log entries like this:
    Nov 11, 2014 20:54:14 PM Information [ajp-bio-8012-exec-127] - Starting HTTP request {URL='http://somesite.com:80/1.2?output=xml', method='get'}
    Nov 11, 2014 20:54:14 PM Information [ajp-bio-8012-exec-127] - HTTP request completed  {Status Code=200 ,Time taken=313 ms}
    Nov 11, 2014 20:55:00 PM Information [scheduler-2] - Run Client Storage Purge
    Nov 11, 2014 21:00:00 PM Information [DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-1] - Task default.blah triggered.
    Nov 11, 2014 21:45:00 PM Information [DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-2] - HTTP request completed  {Status Code=200 ,Time taken=773 ms}
Quite simply, how can we disable them?
We have no logging enabled for scheduling in CF10 Admin, and yet they are still generated.
    Advice appreciated.

Thanks for the speedy reply, however in that page you mention I can see coldfusion-out.log but I only want to stop scheduler events being logged. How do I do that? There is a scheduler.log, but the events are not appearing in that log file; they are appearing in coldfusion-out.log. The logging is very confusing in CF10, at least to me!

  • Generate Alerts for Task changes in Project Schedule

    Hi,
I would like to generate alerts to all the Project resources when a Task has been revised in Project Schedule. Does MS Project Server 2010 provides this functionality OOTB?
If this not available OOTB, I am planning to write an event handler to generate alerts for Task updates. Would an en event handler for Task level changes impact performance of server?.

    Hello,
This is out of the box with the alerts and reminders in 2010, see:

    Hello,
I am an MBA student at Harvard Business School. I am conducting a survey about Project Scheduling software. The purpose of the survey is to establish whether existing software is meeting the needs of Project Managers. I would greatly appreciate your help.
The survey will take about 5 minutes to complete. It is applicable to anyone who manages a schedule for more than a few hours a month.

  • Project Schedule Status Based on Milestore

    Hi All,
Our client want to track the project schedule/time status (in Project Center using custom filed and graphical indicators) based on the milestones defined in the project. Is it possible to have the formula which can give the project status based on project
    milestones.
    Thanks in advance, Taj

    Hi Taj,
You could for example have a project Enterprise custom field (so it can be displayed as a graphical indicator in the Project Center views) that gives the % of complete milestones versus total number of milestones. Depending on the % value, you could disply
    a green/yellow/red indicator.
For sure there is a simpler way to do that but here is what I found:
    Create a task field (using
this method) that returns 1 for every milestone
Create another task field that returns 1 for every complete milestone
Create a project field that calculate the % based on the 2 above fields
Note also that MS Project 2013 proposed a milestone report in the new report feature.
Be aware that this type of indicator (like milestones trend analysis) DO NOT give any relevant information about project completion but only about milestones completion. I mean that a single milestone can require a huge amount of work whereas another one
could just be a 1h work document writing.
    Hope this helps.

  • DRAFT project schedule - who can SEE it?

If I create a draft project schedule and have
not published it, can another user access it later to edit the draft (when the file is checked in and I do not have it checked out)?
We have a team of users building a project schedule, and are trying to understand who exactly can access a draft that has never been published.
    Many thanks!

Project is check out to some one else or cache is creating issue.
To remove project from Local Cache, please do the following steps:
Launch Project Professional 2010 by connecting to MS Project Server account
File menu -> Options -> Save -> Cache
System will display the Clean Up Cache dialog box with following filters.
Projects not checked out to you
    Projects checked out to you
Projects not checked out to you option:
Select the "Projects not checked out you" filter from dropdown

System deletes the project from local cache
Projects checked out to you option:
Select the "Projects checked out by you" filter from dropdown
Highlight the project and click on "Remove from Cache"
System prompts the following warning message to get the confirmation from you regarding whether you saved the project that checked out by you
If you are absolutely sure that you already saved the changes already, click "Yes" to delete the project from cache.
If you are not sure about the latest changes whether you saved, in that case please click "No" button and close the Clean Up Cache dialog box and return to MS Project Pro to save the change.
If caching related issue appears to persists after having followed the steps above, consider deleting your cache folder through the file explorer. Here is how:
Launch Project Professional 2010 by connecting to MS Project Server account
File menu -> Options -> Save -> Cache
Locate the "Cache location" text box and click on "Browse..." button next to it
Open the folder you want to delete and make sure there is no project file you need inside
Right click on the cache folder you want to delete, and select delete, click on YES
Repeat as needed if you have more than 1 folder
    Close the windows
    Exit Project Professional
Also from Force check in PWA check for the project and do check in. once you perform all of the above then you will not see error message.
