Project Server 2003 Change database and connection information

I am working on Project Server 2003. I want to connect the running server to a different project server database and change database account information. How best to do it.

Hello,
You can do this with the edit site tool. See the following Kb for full details:

  • Error Message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am
    getting an error message.
Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?
I am getting the following error message:
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    Hi bucaroov,
The error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found." means the ReportServerURL configured in the ReportViewer control is invalid.
Please follow these steps to solve the issue:
    Logon the Report Server machine.
Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
Copy the Report Server URL from 'Web Services URL'.
Logon the application server(in this case, it is the server that host the web page), check if we can use the URL we got from step 3 to access the Report Server. If so, please replace the ReportServerURL in the ReportViewer control with this URL. If it is
not available, could you please post the error message.
Additionaly, we don't need to provide the extension for a server report. The ReportPath should be like: /<reports folder>/<report name>
    For more information, please see:

  • Project Server 2013 reporting database change in Schema from Project Server 2010

I have a current Project Server 2010 implementation, I am planning to migrate to Project Online.
We have Customized Reports that consume from the PS 2010 Reporting DB.
Are there differences in the Reporting DB schema  between PS 2010 and Project Online?
My Question is: if we migrated to Project Online, will the reports crash?
Another question is that, is PS 2013 Reporting DB schema the same as Project Online?

    Hi Atia,
IN project server 2013 we have only one database instead of 4, it means draft, archive, published and reporting with in one database.Project Server 2013 reporting database schema tool that can be downloaded.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project_programmability/archive/2013/01/28/project-server-2013-reporting-database-rdb-schema-reference.aspx
There are differences in reporting of on-premises vs. Project Online
The Project Server 2013 reporting schema includes three new tables, 27 new views, and a total of 33 tables and views that include new fields.
Answer-1 : Yes there are some differences between PS 2010 and project Online.
Answer-2 : Reports will crash as In Project Online you have to use ODATA to create report. You can not query project online data for reporting directly you have to have use ODATA.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj163015.aspx
Answer-3 : NO, PS 2013 Schema and Project online Schema is different.

  • Project server 2013 olap database remains in processing state

    Hi,
In an attempt to restore the Reporting Database in Project Server 2013, I did an archive and restore of Custom fields. Both of these events were successful, however, the Reporting database refresh kept on hanging in "Waiting to be processed status".
Before this was noticed, the OLAP Database was configured and a build was initiated. Now the status of the PWAOLAPDatabase build just remains in the "Processing..." status.  What am I to do here? Thanks!

    Hi Jaco,
It seems like your reporting database refresh has failed, so the OLAP DB cannot be generated either. It could be due to a large resource pool.
    See reference below:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/7ac3bb1b-6621-46f0-a6c5-d9a04f770418/reporting-database-refresh-project-server-2010?forum=projectserver2010general
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brismith/archive/2011/07/14/project-server-2010-reporting-database-refresh-failing-with-large-resource-pools.aspx
Note also that you can click on "processing" (as per your screenshot) to have the OLAP DB creation log in order to have more information on the status.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online?

    Hi Guys,
    Is it possible to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online directly? I heard we normally have to take 3 hops for this;
    1. Project Server 2003 - Project Server 2007 migration.
    2. Project Server 2007 - Project Server 2010 migration.
    3. Finally, Project Server 2010 - Project Online migration.
Is there a migration tool we can use to simply jump from Project Server 2003 to Project Online?
    Thank You,
    Arnel

NO, directly you can not migrate. You have to follow the sequence
    1. Project Server 2003 to project server 2007
    2. Project Server 2007 to project server 2010
    3. Project Server 2010 to project server 2013 online.
Unfortunately we dont have nay tool which will help us to do this .
Microsoft has a virtual machine (2007) that you can use to jump to 2007. Basically the databases of 2003 must be converted to 2007. Once this is done (database at 2007) you can use this database as start point to be converted to 2010.
Microsoft has virtual machine for 2010 too if you want you can use it rather than creating your own environment.
Don't use 2007 backward compatibility mode in 2010, we experienced some issues with it.

  • Project Server 2003 files to MPP or other format for archive

We want to remove our Project Server 2003, but we have a need to backup all the old projects. Anyone have any documentation on how we can move this to MPP or PDF or other document for easy viewing to archive?
    Thanks!

Hi, I suggest either to do a full backup of the DB or to save manually the files. Anorher way would be to write a powershell script.
    Hope this helps,

  • Move Exchange Server 2010 SP1 databases and log files to another partition

My company has been running Exchange Server 2010 SP1 on virtual machine for almost three years. My colleague created this virtual machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) before Exchange Server installation with following partitions:
    C partition - for Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 OS (size 40 GB)
E partition - for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 databases and logs (size 410 GB)
Those two partitions are on the same virtual hard disk "next to one another" so I can not extend C partition which gets filled up with IIS logs (when C partition free space is under 10 GB I am backing up these logs with backup software and afterwards
deleting them thus freeing up space on C partition). I have 2 databases (along with Public Folders) and size of these databases and their logs is around 235 GB.
Is it safe to move these databases and their logs to another partition which I would create on separate virtual hard disk for this purpose only and how much time this process might take since during this process databases
would be dismounted and inaccessible to all users? He made big blunder in my opinion but I have to solve this.

Yes, its safe to move the DB/Logs. You can follow the procedure mentioned in this article to do it via EMC or Shell... http://exchangeserverpro.com/move-exchange-2010-database-folder/
But it depends on various factors on how long it is going take, like size of the database/logs, server performance, storage performance etc...
    Besides this, upgrade Exchange 2010 SP1 to SP3, SP1/SP2 aren't supported anymore! http://blogs.technet.com/b/rmilne/archive/2014/04/09/end-of-exchange-2010-sp2-support.aspx

  • Details of database and status information of archived object can't be seen

    Hi
I am trying to archive the ODS-0FIAP_O03 and the job overview(T.Code SARA) shows the status as finished. Attached screenshots show the statistics of written data objects and active records in spool. However when we display statistics(T.Code SARA ) , I do not see any details of database and status information of archived object. Please suggest where could the error be.
Also let me know if you want to see the related screenshots.
    Will award high points.Thanks
    Reenu Lodha

This could be an issue due to program error.
Would you provide me the archiving object so as to find OSS notes if available.
This is a common issue for most of the archiving objects..we do generally miss out the statistics..and that is after the modification in the program, this is ok.

  • Project Server 2010 - Modification date and name of the person who made the last change in the project

    Hello everybody
    I'm with a doubt.
    I got in the business
    environment Project Server 2010 and
would like to get the publication date, modification
    date and name
    of the person who made
    the last change in
    the project. It is possible
    to doby the native
    resources or is
    there any query in
    SQL Server to perform a
    query of this information.
    Thank you.
Obrigado por contactar o fórum Microsoft Technet!

    Hi Hezequias,
You can get the ProjectModifiedDate column in MSP_EPMProject_userView in the Reporting DB where you can
get the data based on the projectUID.
The "last saved" date in the draft DB (be aware that querying in the draft DB is not supported by MS).
For the "last modified by", I think it is not stored in any place.
But you can develop custom code upon publishing the project (Event BeforePublish), writing the current
date and username automatically into a custom enterprise field.
    Hope this helps,

  • Project Server 2010 - Change Status Manager

End Goal: We would like to perform this change via SQL statement - which I believe I have  I feel like I am missing something and not sure what it is.
Background:  We migrated from a different product to Project Server 2010, while our team members were assisting users to move their projects from the old application to Project 2010 they did not realize their names would appear as status
    managers.
The quick solution would be to tell the owners of the projects to change the information themselves (republish or go in themselves and change every line); however we feel this can be cumbersome and too much work due to having hundreds of projects and there
are thousands of fields that need to be modified.  I can quickly accomplish what I want with an UPDATE command and be done with it (no user involvement).
What I am running into in my test environment is that I can modify the fields (query below) to the appropriate status manager, but I cannot get the changes to appear in Project Professional - it still shows the old value.
I have used the following command to change the Status Manager to the Project Owner (I'm new to SQL, and we no longer have a DBA - so if my code isnt the greatest...I'll fix it)
    USE ProjectServer_ReportingUPDATE MSP_EpmTaskSET TaskStatusManagerUID = MSP_EpmProject.ProjectOwnerResourceUIDFROM MSP_EpmProjectWHERE MSP_EpmTask.ProjectUID = MSP_EpmProject.ProjectUID
This modifies all the values correctly - Project Owners become the Status Manager in SQL
Question: Is there something I am missing or can do OR I am not doing to make this new value show up? Is there a better way to do this from an administrative point of view, with no customer/user interaction?
    Your help is greatly appreciated
    Thank You
    kbwrecker

Merely my personal opinion having been a Project Server 2010 admin in a medium-sized corporation:
I think you are going to seriously do some damage if you go about trying to modify SQL tables behind Project Server's back. There are a LOT of operations that go into a simple "publish" and I doubt that the minor changes you want to make will account for
all of them. Are you confident you're adjusting all of the values necessary? You may have a detrimental impact on in-flight approvals, timesheets, projects, tasks, assignments.. There is just far too much IMO.
Believe me, I know it is not an ideal solution to have the business make their own adjustments. However sometimes it is just what has to be done. My vote is to craft brief instructions and send them out to the PMs. It's easy to do, they can change one row
and then drag the field down like in Excel to edit all the rest; it's a 1-minute operation, max.
Due to the nature of the field, (not being something you can edit via PWA, and even in Project Pro it only allows you to change it to yourself or another current Status Mgr) I think you'll have a hard time scripting this one via macro etc.. However if you
do find a way, seriously keep in mind your scope and don't edit them all at once, it will need to kick off publishes and check-ins for all the affected projects.
    Good luck!

  • Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2003 broke our online connection to our self-hosted website

We have two office computers with Microsoft Server 2003. On one of these machines, we have hosted our own website for about 10 years. Eveything worked well until yesterday night, when Microsoft upgraded  our webhost machine with Service Pack 2. When
it was done, the only noticeable result is that we lost an internet connection to our own website.  We had upgraded our other office server with Service Pack 2 a number of years ago, but that had no negative effect on our operations.
Our website, originally created with ASP.Net in Visual Studio 2005, is a relatively simple one, almost all text-based, with a default.htm home page which comes up on any browser, and from which users can use click buttons to move to secondary
pages. Now, following the Service Pack 2 downloading last night, all that shows up on a browser screen when someone seeks our website is a bold-face "FOLDER LISTING../" message.
We under standard there is a program feature that directs a website visitor directly to the home page of that website.
So what is that program feature? Where do we find it? How do we reconstruct it or modify it so that our website default.htm home page appears on the screen?
We intend to upgrade our two office servers to Microsoft Server 2012 within a few months.  But we would be most unhappy to be told that we must pay a tech consultant a hefty service charge to restore or repair a vital link that Microsoft's
operating system service pack destroyed, even if inadvertantly.

You should be able to configure that on IIS level. See that: http://www.iis.net/configreference/system.webserver/defaultdocument

  • PS2013 - Creating a new instance of Project Server does not run and hangs in "Waiting for Resource"

    Hi,
In my Project Server 2013 environment I created an instance of Project Server which is running in a notebook Hyper-V Windows 2012 Server with 11 GB, 4 threds, 3 GHz, one box configuration with complete version of SQL Server 2012 with SP1, nothing trial.
PS and SPS 2013 updated with Cumulative Update of Dec 2013.
I want to create a new empty instance in the same port 80 with a different URL or in the port 90 creating a new web application.
Whatever option I choose, when I try to create the instance of the Project Server it hangs in "Waiting for Resource" status. No Event Viewer, no hanged timer Jobs, all services running, all pools and sites started and I found out nothing in the
SharePoint Logs. After every attempt I return the server snapshot to the former state.
The Project Server and SharePoint continue to work normally.
Any hints where should I look to solve this issue?
    Thank you.
Best regards, Ricardo Segawa - Segawas Projetos / Microsoft Partner

    Ricardo,
so, the only clue I can find in your posting is around the web application.
if you want a 2nd PWA instance on the same web application (this presums you have one already, working, right?).
all you really have to do is give it a different "pwa" name - like "Test" or some such and use a unique project database name : Test_ProjectServerData
there is much more you could do, for isolation into a private content database for example.
to use a different port, then you need to setup a web application on a different port and proceed as above, selecting that web app to start from.
if the basic action of new pwa site provision is not working, then it may suggest there is something systemmically wrong with the setup.
    let us know,

The only OS supported by CR 9.1.x is; WIN XP, WIN 2000, WIN 2003.
See the following wiki for more details:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567
I don't think VS2003 is supported on WIN 7 either(?).

  • Issues with creating PDF's (Acrobat 8.1.6. and 9.1.3) in Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) and Windows XP (64bit)

We have a report package that generates customised reports
We generate the PDF's by simply "printing" to the Adobe PDF printer
In Windows XP Pro (32 Bit) the report creates the PDF perfectly
In Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit) or Windows Xp Pro (64 Bit) the PDF is created 90% perfect but some of text has slipped on the page.
Whilst we are looking into the report writer (Dev Express) I would like to rule out any Acrobat issues.
    With thanks
    Mark

I think it will work fine if you use the "Enterprise" authentication option.  It may have dependencies on 32 bit components.  So, that's why we must run IIS in 32 bit mode even though it's on a 64 bit OS.  That means CR supports 64 bit OS systems only if you bring down other components that CR uses to 32 bit levels.  I'm not sure if that is considered "full support".
We are trying to use the LDAP authentication option, but that tab is disabled.  Other tabs such as Active Directory and WinNT are disabled as well.  There maybe another component that we must bring down to 32 bit processing.
Is there a way to enable the LDAP authentication configuration tab?
    thanks

  • ITunes 11 changes artist and album information

Since iTunes 11 I cannot rename artist name and album information and have it stick.. I sort by last name and always delete the sort information in the sort tab.  After restarting my Mac I find the information in sorting has reappeared and the artist name is again sorted by first name in the library.  In the info tab, the artist name is still listed last-name-first, and the album info is as I changed it..  How can I hack iTunes 11 to leave the sorting information blank?

Yes, others are seeing this. Something in purchased media (I am pretty sure this has only happened with purchased media) is periodically checking back with the iTunes Store and resetting the tags in the iTunes library file but not in the actual media files (metadata are stored in both). I haven't seen a truly systematic diagnosis of the issue (I use an old iTunes and have no iTunes account so I can't test anything myself). There are temporary workarounds but tags will still revert after a time. 2014 discussion about edited tags for Store purchases reverting to originals - https://discussions.apple.com/message/26077896#26077896 - edited tags are still present in the media file but revert to the originals in the iTunes library file. Workaround is to refresh tags so media file tags are re-read and used in library file. https://discussions.apple.com/message/26193185#26193185 Send feedback to Apple about this so they know it is an issue they need to investigate: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html Don't expect an immediate solution but maybe the next time they update the software it may be resolved.
