Project Server 2010 - Find query size file project in database ProjectServer_Reporting

Hello guys,
Is there any way to find out * .mpp file size (MB, GB, KB) in database ProjectServer2010_Reporting?
If there is a script ready and I thank you can share.
Thank you.
Obrigado por contactar o fórum Microsoft Technet!

Hi Zeca Lima,
there is no programmatic way that I know of....  you could save the file as an .mpp file and view the properties though.  The size will depend on whether you include enterprise custom fields in your .mpp file.

  • SharePoint Server 2010 can't connect to the Configuration Database

    Hi Techys,
I have  a SharePoint Server 2010  Farm, and I have Installed SharePoint SP1 package,
Then I,m trying to run the SharePoint configuration wizard, That time i have the below error.
"Can't connect to the Configuration Database"
I have checked all the services belongs to the sql server and SharePoint server.
here i found, SharePoint Timer service is automatically Stopped while browsing the Central admin url.
Please help me to resolve the above issue.
    Many Thanks,
    Madhu

What you mean error in Config wizard, could you please share the complete error log?
For Timer Services, check under which account it is running and check event log why its stoped?
for CA error there are couple of possible reason for this:
Make sure SQL related instances / services are running fine.
Make sure your farm admin account have permission on config DB.
    Make sure Config Database Exist.
Make sure you can connect to SQL server from your APP /WFE.
If everything is running fine, then you may need to reconfigure the sharepiont products and technologies configuration wizard. The issues might be because of the update that might have installed some additional components for installation.
Please remember to mark your question as answered &Vote helpful,if this solves/helps your problem. ****************************************************************************************** Thanks -WS MCITP(SharePoint 2010, 2013) Blog: http://wscheema.com/blog

How to configure server's finder windows size and position etc. are on clients' machines so that they persist? Thank you!
PS: If this has already been discussed, please refer to the thread. Sorry for double post in that case.

Try connecting to the Share as the Server Admin, make your window the size and position you want and logout again.

  • MS Project Pro file on Project Server 2010 does not accept [No Group] selection when clicking on Group view

MS Project Server 2010 gives me the following error when I try to click on the [No Group] group:
    Error message:
The group "" cannot be found. You tried to display a view that references a group that is not available.
Specify a different group for the view."
Note: When I look at the drop downlist for the Group on the View Ribbon, [No Group] appears in the Built-in section of the list. It also appears on the Organizer.

    Michael W --
I have seen this error message several times when the project got corrupted due to drops in my network connection while the enterprise project was open.  If memory serves me correctly, the method for resolving this problem is to use the Save For
Sharing feature.  To do this, complete the following steps:
Add the Save for Sharing button to your Quick Access Toolbar, if you have not already done so previously.  Use the Project Options dialog for this.
Open the project in question and click the Save for Sharing button.
In the Save for Sharing dialog, save the MPP file in a location where you can find it easily, such as your Desktop.
Close the MPP file and then reopen it.
Click File > Save As and then click the Save button.
Using this process, Microsoft Project will resolve the corruption in your project.  Please let us know if this process works for you.

  • How to query Process Status from database in Project Server 2010

    Hello All,
I am using Project Server 2010.
I need to query Process Status  from SQL.
where can I find Process Status in Database.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit,
you will not be able to find this information in reporting DB - the only database queries are supported.
If you really want to go for an unsupported solution, you should be able to find related tables and how to join them in stored proc "MSP_WEB_SP_QRY_Statusing_ReadStatus" in published database.
    Regards

  • Project Server 2010 - Different Schedule Dates for Different Users -- Same File

We have an issue regarding users viewing the same schedule, different machines.
The PMs have a schedule that was built in 2007 by the offshore team.  We are running Project Server 2010 corporate, and they the PMs here on site have Project Professional 2010.  Within the last couple of weeks, the PMs have noticed changes in
    the dates.
When I open the schedule, I see the expected dates rendered in both PWA and Project Professional.  Both draft and published versions are the same regardless of where the schedule is opened for editing.  There are two PMs managing the schedules.
One sees what I see--the expected dates.  The other sees differences in dates--months, in fact.  Scheduled end date is 10/22/2013.   When the second PM opens the schedule, he sees a scheduled end date of 2/17/2014.
I advised them that the offshore team needed to upgrade to 2010 due to the differences between 2007 and 2010.  Additionally, and I could be wrong, having the server run in compability mode for so long (the upgrade was done in May 2013), is not ideal.
(Offshore team has since updated to 2010.)
Any thoughts on what could be causing this issue?  Corrupt version of Professional?  Settings askew?
    Thank you,
    L.D.

My bad, I didn't know that you were not using Project Server.
Then the file might be corrupted.
    Try the
    XML export and the
save for sharing method to repair it.

  • Where can I find the web site ID of a project site in Project Server 2010?

Hi, I need to find the ID of the project site of a project in Project Server 2010 in order to be able to identify that web site in the Sharepoint Content DB (in the reporting DB, in Projects_View appears the URL of the project site but not its web
site ID). I need to list the documents stored in the project sites of the projects contained in the Project Center inside PWA.
    Thank you very much
    Regards
    Carlos Negroni

    Hi Mahesh:
Thanks but what I need is to link that ID with the related project in Project Server databases. Anyway I think I'll use the FullURL information to join the tables because that information appears in the Reporting Database of Project Server (although maybe
it is not the best alternative).

  • How to find Project Level Text Custom Fields in Project Server 2010 databases?

    Hello,

  • Project Server 2010 - Change Status Manager

End Goal: We would like to perform this change via SQL statement - which I believe I have  I feel like I am missing something and not sure what it is.
Background:  We migrated from a different product to Project Server 2010, while our team members were assisting users to move their projects from the old application to Project 2010 they did not realize their names would appear as status
    managers.
The quick solution would be to tell the owners of the projects to change the information themselves (republish or go in themselves and change every line); however we feel this can be cumbersome and too much work due to having hundreds of projects and there
are thousands of fields that need to be modified.  I can quickly accomplish what I want with an UPDATE command and be done with it (no user involvement).
What I am running into in my test environment is that I can modify the fields (query below) to the appropriate status manager, but I cannot get the changes to appear in Project Professional - it still shows the old value.
I have used the following command to change the Status Manager to the Project Owner (I'm new to SQL, and we no longer have a DBA - so if my code isnt the greatest...I'll fix it)
    USE ProjectServer_ReportingUPDATE MSP_EpmTaskSET TaskStatusManagerUID = MSP_EpmProject.ProjectOwnerResourceUIDFROM MSP_EpmProjectWHERE MSP_EpmTask.ProjectUID = MSP_EpmProject.ProjectUID
This modifies all the values correctly - Project Owners become the Status Manager in SQL
Question: Is there something I am missing or can do OR I am not doing to make this new value show up? Is there a better way to do this from an administrative point of view, with no customer/user interaction?
    Your help is greatly appreciated
    Thank You
    kbwrecker

Merely my personal opinion having been a Project Server 2010 admin in a medium-sized corporation:
I think you are going to seriously do some damage if you go about trying to modify SQL tables behind Project Server's back. There are a LOT of operations that go into a simple "publish" and I doubt that the minor changes you want to make will account for
all of them. Are you confident you're adjusting all of the values necessary? You may have a detrimental impact on in-flight approvals, timesheets, projects, tasks, assignments.. There is just far too much IMO.
Believe me, I know it is not an ideal solution to have the business make their own adjustments. However sometimes it is just what has to be done. My vote is to craft brief instructions and send them out to the PMs. It's easy to do, they can change one row
and then drag the field down like in Excel to edit all the rest; it's a 1-minute operation, max.
Due to the nature of the field, (not being something you can edit via PWA, and even in Project Pro it only allows you to change it to yourself or another current Status Mgr) I think you'll have a hard time scripting this one via macro etc.. However if you
do find a way, seriously keep in mind your scope and don't edit them all at once, it will need to kick off publishes and check-ins for all the affected projects.
    Good luck!

    Hi,
From error log it seems you have some custom or thrid party web part activated in your application and that web part is not able to load which might causing those pages to get corrupt.
As a fix can suggest you below to two thing to check
    1) Remove that "FirePoint.SharePoint.RssViewerWebPart" from your environment and try to access those PWA pages again.
    2) Even after removing above web-part solution does not fix this issue, as it is quality env can you try to disconnect and reconnect the share-point farm . Then try to access those pages again.
Share us the latest update and your finding on this issue.

The query does a selection joining the temporary table.
When running the second query without the join on the temp it takes 8 seconds and result in 826 records (all assignements in the db)
After looking at the join and where clauses used in the first and second query i see they are almost identical and with only adding "AND ( (MAS.RES_UID_OWNER = @P0) ) " and not using a temp table, I get the wanted result (122) only taking half
    a second.
    So
Suggestions how to fix, circumvent the problem?

Exact same problem, took me hours to trace it, but i get the exact same behavior, some people can open the tasks view normally, some other people get timeouts.
Tried multiple browsers, logging different users on different machines, different hours in the day with different loads and capacities, verified that SQL Server and SharePoint Servers and Project Servers are not over utilitized.
There just seems to be something wrong with this query, i tried running it in SQL Server Management Studio, and it does indeed take alot of time to generate results, about 5 mins or so for some users.
Please can anyone suggest a solution other than contacting support, this is heavily impacting our business.

    Hi,
I faced exactly the same problem: some resources try to connect to My Tasks, and get an Unknown error. No error message in ULS or Eventlog.
I hope I solved the problem, and want to share the experience here.
    First, by reading this article,
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/Unknown%20Error%20My%20Tasks%20Page.aspx: even if the SQL Query returns me no records, it gives me the idea to delete (unpublish) some tasks (i managed to identify some tasks which raised
the problem, by assigning a test account on them, and see that the pb happened).
So I decided to delete my project from the Published Database (and keep it in the Draft of course). Than in Project Pro, I opened and Published: the problem seem to be solved.
I don't know the root cause of the pb: maybe some SQL data were corrupted for an unknown reason.
Hope it could help some one ! Don't hesitate to give feedback if you solved this pb with this solution, or workaround.

  • Create a Custom View in Project Server 2010 that is Visible in MS Project

    Hello All,
We want our PMs to consistently report Physical % Complete, but couldn't find an existing "Status" or "EVM" view.  So, in Project Server 2010, using Server Settings > Look and Feel > Manage Views, I created a customized project
view using existing fields (no customized fields, if that matters).  The problem is that I cannot find the view when I open MS Project.  Under Manage Views, in the Format View section, I have selected "Gantt Chart (Views)" for the Gantt
Chart format field.  The view defaulted to "Timesheet" for the Grouping format field.  Under the Security Categories section, I have selected My Projects and My Tasks.  I have not applied a Filter.  Any ideas why I cannot find
this new custom view in MS Project?
Was I supposed to create the new customized view directly in MS Project?  If so, where would I find the steps to do that?  Thank you!
    Julie

    Julie --
Nice try, my friend.  Your only mistake was trying to create the Microsoft Project view in PWA.  You have to open the Enterprise Global for editing in Microsoft Project, and then create the custom view and table in the Enterprise Global. To
open the Enterprise Global for editing, click File > Info > Manage Enterprise Global.  When you finish creating the custom view and table, then save, close, and check in the Enterprise Global file, and then exit Microsoft Project completely.
The next time you or any of your PMs launch Microsoft Project and connect to Project Server, the custom view and table will be visible for every current and future project.  Hope this helps.

  • Odd circumstances regarding an 'unexpected error' in Project Server 2010

A couple of days ago, a client of mine started experiencing an odd error upon trying to save their project files in Project Professional 2010 while connected to Project Server 2010. They'd receive the following error:
An unexpected error occurred during command execution.
    Try the following:
Verify that all argument names and values are correct and are of the correct type.
You may have run out of memory. To free up available memory, close programs, projects, or windows that you are not using.
I am familiar with troubleshooting both of the cases as listed above in this error message and quickly determined that the client was not experiencing memory issues. I also could not find any instances where there were incorrect values in any project schedule
    fields.
We eventually were able to replicate the issue by following these steps:
A user creates a new project via PWA using an Enterprise Project Type that has been pre-defined to have a specific project template applied to it. Please note that this Enterprise Project Type did not create a workflow... only created a Project Details
page, Project Information page, and Project Schedule based upon this template.
This new project is given some basic Project level custom field information and set to the PM owner and then saved and published without any issues.
Now, when the project schedule is opened immediately afterwards in Project Professional 2010, changes cannot be saved or published. Even the most basic of change at this point such as a new task line or renaming a task name will result in the error message
given at the top of this post. The user is then forced to close the project file and check it back in. Note this applies to anyone performing some or all of these steps.
Note: If a project file was created from this same template through Project Professional instead of through PWA, it was fine and no errors would occur upon further editing.
Because of the above, I decided to try and open the existing project templates used in the Enterprise Project Types that were being affected and simply re-save them with new names. I made no other changes to these templates than just giving them a new name.
I then created new Enterprise Project Types that would then use these new templates. Other than this change, these Enterprise Project Types were exactly the same as the previous ones which caused errors.
Upon trying the new Enterprise Project Types, the project schedules behaved normally and new projects created from them would not cause the error listed.
This is extremely puzzling obviously and now my client is concerned that this is a symptom of a deeper problem in the database that we might not yet know about.
Is this an issue that anyone here has experienced before, and if so, knows how to correct and prevent from occurring again in the future?
    Thank you.

    Daniel,
Issue could be due to corruption ? Please provide us information about current server and client patch level for Project. Also ULS log information would be beneficial to investigate this issue
