Project spartan didnt install

i just installed windows 10 preview today, and project spartan didnt come with it, any suggestions on what i can do to get spartan? im pretty sure im running the latest build

Hi cerissa23,
As David suggested, please check and see if you have Windows 10 build 10049 installed.
The below is the information about build 10049:
Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10049 now available
This build is pretty much all about Project Spartan, so we hope you enjoy getting your hands on it for the first time. As with all other new features we’ve introduced, we have a ton of work left to do with Spartan so expect to see some bugs and rough edges
in this first preview. As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback via the Windows Feedback App.
Note – we won’t publish ISOs for this new build until we push it out to the Slow ring. Today we are only pushing to the Fast ring.
Best regards

I get an error that says This app can't install. Check the store for more info about Project Spartan.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview Build 10049.

    Hi,
Meanwhile, you can also test the Project spartan using another user acocunt or create a new user account.
Project spartan should be installed automatically after you upgraded to preview build 10049, if this issue only happened recently, then I would suggest you return the system to a previous state with restore point and check if it
    can bring back the app.

  • Start Menu, Notification center, project spartan not working - Windows 10 TP 10049

I updated to windows 10 technical preview (Build 9926) from windows 8.1 OEM. The start menu and notification center were not working. I tried PowerShell method but that didn't help. Then I updated to Build 10049 hoping things would get better, but start
menu and notification center still didn't work. Project Spartan opened and closed. I setup an additional user account to try if it had same issue but I was not able to switch accounts. I am using Lenovo Y50-70

    Hi patanai,
Regarding DISM command, you may take use of Windows 10 build 10041 ISO:
you should mount the ISO as a drive first, or take use the install Media (USB or the DVD drive), right click the ISO and choose to
mount, after that, you could access the ISO through Window Explorer.
Then open CMD with admin rights, type the following command:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
Where the X: drive is the mounted drive letter.
Before that, please try to create a new User account and check if the issue insists.

  • Project Spartan not Showing

Hello I just upgraded to the newest build of Windows 10 Preview and Project Spartan is not showing up in my taskbar nor my applications list. Is there something extra that has to be done in order to launch or view Project Spartan? Just as a FYI I have
tried it on 2 different computers and both computers are not showing it.

Don't just say " the newest build". Specify by build number.
Only build 10049 has Spartan. Look to bottom right corner, the build number is shown there., i.e. " Evaluation copy, Build 10049". Is that what you see ?
If it is confirmed that you do have 10049 installed, next to the Start button, there is a search box. Type Spartan in the box > does the word  Spartan show up in the pop-up box ?
If yes, right click at it > click Pin to taskbar.
Does it work for you ?

the other two. I would just like to know how, or if I can install it if I wanted to. Thanks.

  • Project Spartan and the WebBrowser control

I'm a C# WinForms developer working in Visual Studio 2010 and I use the WebBrowser control in my desktop applications for users to view web content through the
    desktop app.
I have 2-questions related to the upcoming Project Spartan browser, which is supposed to replace IE as the browser.
Will the Spartan browser (or whatever its final name will be) continue to support the WebBrowser control in the toolbox? The control currently utilizes the functionality
of the user's existing IE browser. If IE continues to be present on new Windows 10 desktop systems along with Spartan, then it probably won't be an issue.
One issue the Web Browser Control on Windows has, is that it’s perpetually stuck in IE 7 rendering mode by default. This is can be seen in articles like
(see the section entitled Browser Emulation)
    or
    Web Browser Control
    – Specifying the IE Version
    or
WebBrowser ActiveX Control – Google Maps Invalid Character Scripting Error
This requires a registry setting to set its emulation mode. Making the setting in the registry works. However, I would like to "Future-Proof" my application
to account for any changes to the user's browser and Project Spartan certainly could prove to be a game changer if it won't support this development control.
         2. Therefore, I would also like to know how Project Spartan will address browser emulation modes.
    Thanks

Hello Sheng and thanks for your reply.
In your comments you stated that "the Trident-based WebBrowser class will continue to work." However, is the
existing WebBrowser control in my .Net Framework 4.0 Visual Studio 2010 toolbox, based on the "Trident WebBrowser class"?
That is my primary concern, as my applications, which use the browser control, utilize IE's functionality. If IE12 and Spartan will use a different rendering engine, then I have to wonder if applications making use of the .Net 4.0 WebBrowser control will
    break.
Do your comments of both IE 12 and Spartan being based on Trident and EdgeHTML, imply that Microsoft will introduce a different browser toolbox control, or
will there continue to be backwards compatibility for the existing browser control? Thank you again for your insight.

  • Project Spartan policy on backwards compatability

I originally posted this to another Microsoft forum (but the system won't let me link it, so just google a random sentence below if you want to find it). I guess it can only really be addressed by someone on the Spartan team or up their line of supervisors
and a Microsoft Support Engineer suggested I post here instead. So:
Hi. I'd like to know if Project Spartan's backwards compatability policy will be different from Internet Explorer's.
Microsoft's general policy seems to be to go to great lengths to preserve backwards compatibility. (Raymond Chen's blog The Old New Thing has some great war stories about this.) For example, an IE 3 (Aug 1996) JavaScript quirk was that an array with a trailing
comma was longer than one without. [1].length != [1,].length Changing this behavior to match other browsers and the ECMAScript standard would possibly break JavaScript that had been written to depend on it, so it still exists in in-use versions of IE.
I understand why this policy exists and has been such a valuable business policy for Microsoft for decades. The situation is a bit different with a web browser, though, because the majority of third-party authors have to be compatible with browsers from
multiple vendors rather than a single Microsoft platform like embedded browsers or locked-down corporate intranets (not that those groups are tiny!). The other browsers have a different policy and will break backwards compatibility to better match the specs
(whether explicit or de facto). So the code I write to create websites quickly turns into “this works everywhere, except where you need this IE workaround”. I regularly encounter IE-only behaviors and bugs that I expect never to change, like recently finding
that only IE is case-insensitive when scrolling an HTML5 page to an in-page identifier or anchor from the URL fragid.
I've read a lot about the quality improvements planned for Spartan and I look forward to seeing a lot of these hairy old cross-browser differences get reconciled. But as a longtime developer I know no software is perfect and there will always be bugs. So
my question is: will this be a one-time fix or will there be a new policy towards backwards compatibility? If it's the former, Spartan is the new IE, and I know this tune very well. If the latter, there's a little room for hope that it will be pleasant to
    work with.
Thanks for your consideration, and good luck with your code.

  • Visio and Project 2013 silent install returns immediately (before install is finished)

    Hi,
I am building a task sequence that will include Office 2010 ProPlus (volume license), a bunch of other products (like SQL Server and Visual Studio) and also Visio 2013 and Project 2013.
For Visio 2013 and Project 2013, I have to use the retail media (this is for use in academic computer labs and we have a single retail key through DreamSpark Premium that allows unlimited activations - I don't know why DreamSpark doesn't just give a volume
    license key).
I managed to get Visio 2013 and Project 2013 to install silently by modifying the config.xml file and using the /config parameter. However, when running my install script (the usual VBScript wrapper) or just from the command line, the command returns before
setup finishes (literally within less than a second). Setup continues to run and finishes successfully, but as you can imagine, MDT considers that application install finished and tries to move on to the next application which fails because another installation
    is still in progress.
I've included below the relevant portion of the VBScript wrapper. Any help in figuring out how to get the wrapper to wait for the installer to finish is appreciated.
    sSetupFile = oUtility.ScriptDir & "\Source\setup.exe"
    sArguments = "/config vispror.ww\config.xml"
    oLogging.CreateEntry oUtility.ScriptName & ": Starting installation", LogTypeInfo
// Check for existence of setup file omitted
    iRetVal = oUtility.RunWithHeartbeat("""" & sSetupFile & """ " & sArguments)
Coincidentally, iRetVal = 0 indicating success.
    Thanks,
    SA

    Hi SA,
Obviously you use the VBS wrapper for some reason. To my understanding this behaviour needs to be captured and translated to "script is till busy, when installation completes script is finished, proceed to next step".
I can only advise you to either try the command line directly in MDT, instead of using the VBS wrapper, and/or try to create an MSP and try this in your VBS wrapper, command line directly in MDT.
MSP files are easily created by going into command prompt to the sources folder of Visio / Project and execute the following command: setup.exe /admin this will start the Office Customization Tool which enables you to create an MSP file.
When you are ready, execute the following command to install the application with the settings in the MSP: setup.exe /adminfile custom.msp
Again I can imagine the purpose of the VBS just as I can imagine the purpose of using the config.xml above a custom.msp. But for starters this should get you going to try to find an resolve where the issue lies. In the VBS or somewhere else.
    Cheers!

  • UNABLE TO OPEN FCP 6.02 PROJECT FILES AFTER INSTALLING LEOPARD!

**Unable to open FCP 6.02 project files after installing Leopard**. Tested and found that the files can be opened on another computer with OS 10.4.10, but not OS 10.5. Spoke to apple support many times, and have tried reinstalling FCP, but it didn't work.
Apple is now saying to erase my HD and reinstall from scratch. This presents a problem since i have software installed but no disc due to a move, (they are deep in offsite storage).
Anyone have this problem? Anyone know a fix?

    Lynne,
There is a section in the manual on the migration tool... I don't have my machine fired up right now so can't direct you to the exact page. I think a search for migration or migrate should do it.
    Two other things to try:
    1. There have been numerous reports that Quicktime 7.3 is what is killing older projects. According to one of the third party program makers Apple re-wrote Quicktime changing the null value to Zero from minus-one. I'm not a code junkie so can't vouch for this but the upshot would be, go back to Quicktime 7.1 or 7.2 not 7.3
    2. There is a Quicktime plugin called "Perian". For lots of people it has caused numerous problems.
Look for Perian on your machine and if you find it, drag the app to the trash... re boot and try again.
Of course the ultimate solution would be to reinstall Tiger, Final Cut Studio 2 and Quicktime 7.2. So far the most stable combined setup for me and lots of others on G5 machines.
36 degrees and thunderstorms with sleet here this afternoon. The door on my storage unit is staying closed.

  • Iphone didnt install any ios itunes get error16

Iphone Stuck & didnt install any ios ? even itunes error16

I couldn't find any info on error 16, but found a lot on 1600s. You sure it wasn't 16__? Just in case, here are some steps:
    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps inthis article for details on troubleshooting security software.

  • This operation requires that microsoft project professional be installed

This operation requires that microsoft project professional be installed when launching "Open with MS Project" from a SharePoint 2013 task list. MS Project Professional is already installed on the machine.
    Environment : Windows 7 SP1 , IE 11 , SP Enterprise 2013 ( Latest Patches )

I would check your file associations, make sure Windows knows to use Project to open the file type you are launching from Sharepoint.
Click start, Default Programs, File Assocoiations, you can then find the file extension of the type you are launching and ensure Project is listed s the program to open it, if the file type is not there, then add it by right clicking the file and selecting
    "Open With."
If "Open With" isn't offered, just click on "Open". If there is no default program already associated with the file
type, you'll be given a choice of searching for a suitable program on the Web, or selecting a program from a list of installed programs, just as with the old "Open With".

  • Project Spartan and localhost

I can't surf to localhost (or 127.0.0.1) in Project Spartan while in IE I can.
Is there a reason for that?
Will it be fixed in future versions?
    Thanks!

    Heya,
Much searching on web and I came up with for me at least is a fix for localhost error. The following needs to be run with an admin command prompt and once ok'd it seems to be a fix for my localhost problem.
    CheckNetIsolation LoopbackExempt -a -n=Microsoft.Windows.Spartan_cw5n1h2txyewy
I ran this once and now am able to open media browser at least with no problem with Spartan as default browser.
Good luck and hope it helps all with this problem
