  • CProjects - Project Systems Linking and other features

    Dear All,
                  I need inputs on how to integrate cProjects with Project Systems. Also i need information on the what are all the information we can integrate between these two.
                  One more important thing is i am seeing the Services, Details Data and Controlling links in My cProjects system. Where as i found Account Assignment, Costing links in one screenshot of Documents. And both are for cProjects 4.0. Why this difference is showing up
                  And one generic question is, what is the requirement for these kind of scenarios. And pros and Cons of both the systems.

    Thanks very much for the links. However, I've already gone through the standard documentation in SAP and they are a bit too high level/vague for me. I have considerable experience in xRPM, cProjects Suite and have good grasp of project management concepts, tool and techniques. My knowledge of PS is somewhat limited though.
    What I am specifically looking for is what type integration options and scenarios are available. For example, cProjects can have phases and tasks defined. How would these integrate with for example WBS elements and networks in PS? What are the things you would do in cProjects and not PS and vice versa? Hope my question is clearer now.
    Appreciate any further information you may have on the above.

  • Goods issue in Project System(SAP-PS)

    While creating the Goods Issue with reference to Goods Receipt from Tcode MIGO, it show the error message " Selected material document does not correspond with action to be executed ". First i created Purchase Request.After this Purchase Order with reference to PR.After this I created GR with reference to PO.But i'm not able to create GI.
    Please suggest  me.

    If you have assigned these materials in the network activity you can create a delivery from CNS0 and do the goods issue.

  • Project Systems: Profit and Cost Centres

    Hi
    When maintaining a WBS element through transaction CJ02 or CJ20N for example; it is poossible to link a profit centre, ressponsible cost centre and requesting cost centre to each WBS element.
    My question is: When cost gets incurred against a WBS element the profit centre gets updated with the cost as well. However, the cost centres (responsible and requesting) do not get updated. Is there any automatic effect on these cost centres (such as is the case with profit centres)?
    I know that the requesting cost centre will be the cost centre allocated to AUC's assigned (if applicable) and that to get cost onto the cost centre a settlement rule must be maintained. What therefore is the use of having responsible and requesting cost centres assigned to a WBS apart from this?

    Cost center and WBS elements are both cost objects hence at a time real posting can happen to only one of them. Since WBS elements are getting debited , it will not simultaneously debit a cost center. However profit center it is not the case , hence the data flow to the profit center happens as an when a posting is done to WBS element and also when WBS is settled to cost center then also there will be a posting to profit center.

  • Im trying to share a project to idvd and gettingThe project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Error in user parameter list) what does this mean

    I've been trying to burn my projects in imovie to dvd's and i keep getting the forllowing error message "UNABLE TO PRPARE PROJECT FOR PUBLISHING"
    "The Project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occured (Error in user parameter list)
    Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

    Can you give more details?   What exactly is the entire error message text?  there should be an error number too.   Are you trying to finalize this to an external disk?

    is it so possible in standard SAP that what ever we plan in planning board can be exported to micro project?
    if so, can u suggest me the steps...
    if not, any interface software's are required???????? what is open PS, is it available in SAP or we have to procure it?

    Yes it is possible the exchange data between the Project System (PS) and Microsoft Project. You can transfer data from Microsoft Project to the Project System, and from the Project System to Microsoft Project.
    You need not to buy Open PS for Microsoft Project (OpenPS4MSP), it is to get downloaded from www.service.sap.com

  • Project System Infocubes

    Hello all,
    I've noticed that BI Model for Project System is "duplicated", I mean, for each cube, two version exist. For example:
    0PS_C02 - Project System - Dates
    and
    0PS_C021 - Project System - Dates (New)
    I read some best practices and documentation and I found that the difference is that the cubes identified with (New) are based on "Identification using GUID" and the others are based on "Identification Using External ID".
    Could anyone tell me the difference? I don't know which one I have to activate.

    If you are using SAP R/3 Plug-In 2005.1 then you can use the new datasource and the new InfoCube 0PS_C021 else the old one 0PS_C02.

    When there is a solution already existing then why did SAP come up with a new solution cProjects ?

    Hi.
    I have copied an SAP text below which sets PS, cProjects, (x)RPM and PPM into context.
    In the ninties, the Project System was developed within SAP R/3 to provide a powerful application with full integration into logistics and financials.
    Target groups were industries such as engineering and construction, automotive, high tech or utilities with focus on project manufacturing or large maintenance projects.
    Later on, the need for more flexible and easy-to-use tools supporting the new process methodologies, phased-based approaches, quality gates, and so on, emerged. SAP developed Collaboration Projects and Collaboration Folders (cProjects Suite), which takes these new requirements into account and provides extensive features to collaborate with internal and external partners using a HTML-like interface and Web Application Server technology.
    Thus, cProjects was able to address to a broader range of industries, such as service providers, offering a high degree of visibility and flexibility to support various scenarios from product development to consulting projects. Nevertheless, cProjects is seen as a complementary product to Project System, not as ist successor!
    It always depends on the scenario that a customer wants to cover, which application is the best choice.
    As another matter of fact, combinations of both are also possible.
    In addition to this, the new generation of composite applications was born and SAP xApp for Resource and Portfolio Management provides excellent capabilities to align operational project management with strategic portfolio management.
    The latest developments bring all these three applications tighter together and offers a comprehensive solution for project and portfolio management by covering logistical, financial and human resource aspects and addressing the needs of all stakeholders throughout the entire organisation.
    However, xRPM capabilities are not only restricted to project portfolios but can be leveraged to control all kind of portfolio items.

    SAP PS differentiates between the following versions:
    1.• Simulation versions
    •2.Project versions
    •3. CO plan versions
    In SAP PS simulation versions are modifiable versions of projects. You create a simulation version in the quotation phase, for example, if an operative project does not yet exist or if you want to plan other alternatives to an existing operative project or subproject.
    Project versions are snapshots of a project at a specific point and are used for documenting the progress of a project over time. Both quantities and values are stored in versions. Project versions are created either manually or automatically when a status changes.
    CO planning versions are used to plan costs and revenues. Using CO planning versions you can define various cost plans for a project, for example, an "optimistic" and a "pessimistic" plan. You can copy values from one version to another. You can change planned values manually in every version. The costed values are retained.

    The Project System guarantees close and constant monitoring of all aspects of your project.Projects are generally part of the internal processes of a company.
    There is no orgnization structure of project system like in FI ( Company code), CO ( Controlling Area), Funds management ( FM area).  but it depends upon other.
    Therefore, The high degree of integration between the Project System (PS) and other SAP  application components means that you can plan, execute, and account for projects as part of your normal commercial procedures. This means the Project System has constant access to data in all the departments involved in the project.
    Further, in project system mostly controlling & ligistical is more important.

  • Problem with Project Systems authorizations

    We are implementing project systems module and are facing several authorization issues. The SAP default values do not seem to work and there are several objects which showup as "not checked" in SU24 showup in the SU53. e.g. tcodes are CJ20n, CJI3. Are there any steps for activation / pre-requisites, etc?

    There are chances that some of the transactions codes will call other tcodes while execution.
    in this case also CJ20N is calling many tcodes, those auth check would not be inserted as check points in SU24 , hence you should identify them in the testing phase or using the TCDCOUPLES table.
    You can check the calling & called transaction values in the table TCDCOUPLES in SE16, according to that you can build your SAP roles.
