Project Template Creation in CProjects

Hi,
This is regarding project template creation for CProjects.
I am now using the following BAPIs but not getting the templates created.
1. For project definition creation: BAPI_BUS2172_CREATE
2. For template creation: BAPI_BUS2170_CREATE
I am getting the project definition created but not the template created.
Please help.

Hi,
You can get this done in the IMG under the 'spro' transaction. In Collaboration projects, get to create the role type and specify the project types (Regular, Program etc.) where this role type would be applicable.

Schedule Project using Project Template, cProjects 4.0

Hi All,
I have a requirement of Scheduling a Project using a Project template. This template will be loaded with the duration for phases & tasks, along with the task-task relations.
When i choose this template & create a Project, the earliest & latest dates appear automatically. But i need to select it manually in order to make it appear in actual dates. Is there any work around available to make it happen automatically?? This feature is not available in standard feature but any hints on going for custom based modifications??

Iam unaware of the scenario why you wanted to schedule a Template in cProject. As per design Template is to facilitate the standardisation of project structure and creation of operative project in less time. By default Schedule Button is disabled in Template structure.
If you wish to see the schedule in a template, I can suggest you to create a simulation version directly from Version Tab Page. Simulation supports entire functionality of an operative project and essentially the scheduling as you desired. The project Number series is also different than operative project.
Once simulation is satisfactory, you can copy simulation to an operative project. Operative project can be used as a reference to create template.

Get project description of project template in cProjects

1. first a general question: where are project descriptions stord (which db)? the table DPR_PROJECT doesn´t contain the project description
2. is there a chance to get the project description (String) from a project template? where are these templatetexts stored?

try this: on the cProjects initial screen in the Templates initial view on the Create tab page.
- Choose the template type you want to create from the dropdown box above the Create tab page.
- Enter a number for the new template.
- Choose Project Template or Checklist Template from the Template dropdown box.
- Enter the number of the project or checklist template you want to use as a template under Copy Template.
If you want to search for a number, use Selection of Possible Input Values.
- Choose Continue. The system opens the template you specified.
- Change the existing data. The table below shows you where you can find more information about the necessary data entries.
- Save your entries.

Problem while creating a new project template

I am trying to create a new project template under one operating unit newly created.
I am using P A Super User responsibility for that operating unit.
In profile setting the above responsibility has been assigned the new operating unit under Mo operating unit profile.
Now when I go to Setup>>Projects>>Project Templates and click on New, the form to create new Project template opens up but in the field where I have to select the operating unit, it shows no values in the LOV.
Can anyone please help me to know what setting do I have to perform so that I can select the operating unit in this new Template creation Form.

Dear Mr. Govind,
we have followed all the Project Implementation Setup for the new operating unit except for the Implementation options which we have to fill up for each operating unit.
In the implementation Options form in the first tab 'System' there are many fields to be filled up.
For 'Summarization period Type' we choose 'G L Period' and based on this the fields 'Calendar Name' and 'P A Period Type' automatically gets populated.
But in our case the 'P A Period Type' is not getting populated.
Can you let me know where we can link the 'P A Period Type' to the chosen 'Calendar name'?
Also there is a check box - 'Maintain common PA and GL Periods'. If we tick this check box, a message says: 'The Period Type and Calendar of the PA Period does not match the Period type and Calendar of the corresponding GL Period.'
Can you please let me know where to create the PA Period based on the corresponding GL periods?

Creation of cProjects automatically from creation of Portfolio Item in xRPM

Hi,
If we check out the box for the automatic creation of cProject along with creation of Portfolio item then the cProject as well as an internal order is created in the system.
While I am creating an item and selecting for automatic creation, I am not able to get the internal order and not even the corresponding cProjects.

I am looking for a cProjects knowledge resource to start after a brief demo or just discussion on how cProjects would be implemented at out site. The company is a Global chemical company and we know we want cProjects but need more info before we get started. We are looking for a resource willing to provide this info. This is for an 18 month project. Work can be done remotely.

Project Templates with Enterprise Resources

I'm using Project Server 2013 ( latets updates installed for both Client and Server)
I've created a project template and attached this to a project type. My template has enterprise resources speciified. So far so good.
Now I'm trying to create a project using this template and I'm getting some errors. (See below)
As soon as I remove the resources from my template the project creates fine.
It looks like 'rsResourceCannotAddLocalWithSameNameAsEnterprise' in the error below means that Project Server looks at the resource in the template and considers the resources in the template always to be a local resources. And of
course the resource already exists in my enterprise resources and therefore the project creation fails.

My questions are:
Are Enterprise Resources in templates supported?
Is there a way around this? We're trying to make it easy to select a subset of the enterprise resources available.

I have experienced this exact same thing and my situation is highly irregular.
This is with Project Server 2013.
I had an EPT with a Project Schedule that had Generic Enterprise Resources assigned and was able to create new projects without problems using the EPT from the New button in the Project Centre in PWA.
I was creating new projects to test and demonstrate Portfolio Analysis and was able to model Organisational Capacity represented by my Generic Resources and also the Surplus/Deficit element of Resource Constraints on a Portfolio. The Hired Resource Report
was failing.
A Service Pack and Cumulative update were applied to the Server and now I cannot create new projects using EPTs that have a project schedule with Generic Enterprise Resources assigned to tasks in the schedule.
I checked the error message for the Failed and Blocking job in the queue and the GUIDs were for my Generic Enterprise Resources. I deleted the offending Generic Enterprise Resources and then re-created them anew, edited the Project Template to have
these Generic Enterprise Resources on the Project Team and randomly assigned them to tasks in the schedule to generate a notional demand for work in the Project Template. I then Saved the Template in Project as a new Project Template and edited my EPT
to reference this new Project Schedule.
Same error encountered again.
Perversely I can open the Template schedule in Project Professional and do Save As and save it as a new project to the Server and that works just fine - the schedule is visible in the Project Centre and I can edit the schedule in both Project Pro and in
PWA.
My hunch is that the Cumulative Update and Service Pack which were applied to try and resolve the failing "Hired Resources Report" in Portfolio Analysis, which sadly it didn't resolve - has probably provoked this interesting challenge as it is
the only material thing to change on the Server during the time that this issue has manifested itself.
Am I the only one to encounter this?

PS Project not appearing in cProjects Accouting tab

I am able to create the PS Project from cProjects through status management (Flag for transfer) after the required accounting intergation and other configurations.
However, I have a concern when I am linking an existing PS project to a newly created RPM Item and cProjects Project.
I carried out the following:
1. Created a PS Project with a WB Structure
2. Created an RPM Item (with auto creation of cProjects Project)
3. Under the item, uploaded the PS Project created under step 1, to the item
4. Saved the upload
Result:
The PS Project structure is replicated in the cProjects operational project.
Concerns:
We now want to synchronize the accounting aspects in PS from cProjects Project (like we do when we mark a cProjects project to "Flag for transfer"). However, the newly linked PS project does not appear under the "Accounting" tab in cProjects.
Please advise.
Summary:
Having linked an exisiting PS project to a new created item and cProjects project, we want the operation to continue as if the PS project was created by flagging the cProjects project.

Thanks... this helps me get to a part of the problem.
Now that I have RPM item and a cProjects project linked to a PS project, I can manually link the cProjects tasks stc. to the PS WBS elements as relevant.
In such a case, how will "Falg for Transfer" imopact this project? I mean, whereas "Flag for transfer" in other cases create a new PS project which we can see under the accounting tab, what happens when we set this status after we have manually linked the cProjects project to a PS Project. Also, how does the accounting updates take place in this scenario (from the cProjects front end)?

Project Template is not in the selection list while creating the Project

We have created a template for a project type in cProjects. When i try to create a project by copying the template and choose "Template Type" as 'Project Template' and 'Project Type' then in the field of 'Template' i cannot see the templates which are created for the selected project type.
what could be the reason?

Hi
1. While creating the template, you should maintain the project type for which this template would be used. I believe you would have done this.
2. The template has to be released. only after this, it can be used as a template to create projects.

Readonly Projects/Templates

Hi,
How can i make the projects/Templates screen query only.
Is it mandatory to create a new responsibility with a query only function of Projects/Templates form or can i put any function exclusions to the generic menu so that users cannot use the "Copy to" function from the templates screen and thereby achieve the restriction.

Requirement is to limit the project creation (from a template) to only one responsibility and other users may use the same Projects/Template function to query and modify the project.
Cross project profile option will help in limiting the edit access only to project members.

Won't show custom project template

Hi,
I'm trying to create the simplest possible project template, just to get an idea how it works according to directions in this document. It doesn't appear in the create project dialog. I'm probably missing something obvious, can anyone help?
The attached zip file is my <LAbVIEW data>\ProjectTemplates folder, written in LV14 64 bit. It simply has a project with one VI called Test and the metadata for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Danielle,
I was able to get your test template to show up in my LabVIEW by changing a couple of things around. In your XML file, I deleted the spaces in between the brackets and added in a couple of "yes" statements. I've attached the working .xml as a .txt file. I changed it around based on some of the existing .xml files that came with LabVIEW. Hope this helps. Have a good day.

If you have zip file of the project then unzip it into your project location where all projects are there .then in NWDS go to file->import->multiple existing project into workspace->browse the file where you have saved it and select the comp folder inside the project folder->click finish.Now you are able to see the webdynpro project in the webdynpro explorer.If its not appearing then go to Navigatore and right click on project and click on open project, it will open the project in webDynpro explorer.

I know how to create a PROJECT template, but is there a way to create SLIDE templates?

Basically I've got several modules, and throughout all the modules is several different pages (text&graphic page, hot graphic page, tab page etc etc).
What I would love to do is create a set template for each page type (a template for text&graphic, a template for tab page etc) as I have numerous instances of the same pages throughout all the modules (and also for continuity as well).
It would be great to create placeholders for slide templates just like the application in project templates, and then be able to drop these slides into different projects to have the same foundation to start adding data.
Project templates is a good start, but only if i want to use the same template throughout the entire module.
Any one know how to do this?

If you're using Cp5/5.5 you can create multiple master slides to them apply to the applicable slides (I don't remember if it was in Cp4).
Master slides are portable, also, you can copy all the elements and paste them onto new slides in the same project or a different project.
Insert > Master Slide
Which should create a new blank slide in the Master Slide panel. You add items to the slide like backgrounds, captions, rollover captions, highlights, shapes, animations (buttons/click boxes are not allowed). You use the timeline as you would with a 'normal' slide, but you can't adjust the length of the master slide (this doesn't impact the length of a 'normal' slide).
On your content slides you select the master slide in the Properties panel, general, master slide dropdown.

VMM 2012 R2 Template creation fails with sysprep error via the gui, but works in powershell?

I'm in the process of trying to convert an existing gen1 VM (Win Server 2012 R2) to a VM template using VMM 2012 R2 with rollup 1. The creation keeps failing with the following error :-
"Error
(2901)The operation did not complete successfully because of a parameter or call sequence
that is not valid.Recommended ActionEnsure
that the parameters are valid, and then try the operation again."
I've checked that the local administrator account for the machine being converted to a template and it is blank as expected and in an attempt to troubleshoot I've output the template creation script via the VMM GUI and executed the commands in order which appears
to have resolved the problem, well the template finishes creation, i'm yet to deploy a machine via it?

Now the only fields that weren't populated when I ran through the gui were FullName and Organization? Before I changed the script these two fields were just set to ""? Is that what has potentially caused the issue are they both required fields?

Your not the only one who can reproduce this. Did you ever find out what it was? I saw your post and tried your same work-around and it also worked for me via Powershell.

Can't create Project from the Template or access project template

Dear Experts,
We are facing a issue while trying to access the project template/create the project from project template.
we have 4 project template in place and of these two are working perfectly fine but
From remaining two we are not being able to create project and even templates are not accesible , whenever we are trying to access the project template system rotates a circle for some time and keeps us on the same page.
Even when we are trying to create project from the same template, system does the same again rotates the circle for some time and keeps us on the same screen.
And System is not throwing any error for the same (we have checked in the log as well) just not letting us in and not allowing us to create project.
Any Help Will be Highly Appreciated.

Dear Experts,
We were able to find out the issue,
We added 3 groups to the template with "Reviewer" access with "Document Only" Type in the project template.
When we changed the type to "Template and Document" from "Document Only" and system started allowing us to create projects from the template.
Can anyone please help me with one query,
Can we add a group(which includes all the buyers) with reviewer access and with Document only type?
Does this really be a reason behind projects are not getting created from template?
Any help will be appreciated
