"Project too large" message

Hello-
I am a new Mac users and love it so far!! I have a question on the iMovie. When I import my clips. edit them, and them click on the Create iDVD Project to create a project I often get "project is too large" message. How can I easily tell how much video I can import from my digital camcorder so I don't have to keep having this problem? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!! I am using the 4.7GB dvd disks and know I can move to the higher capacity but since I am converting so much video tape to DVD I would rather stick with the less expensive DVD's for now. Thanks so much!!!

Hello, David!
What no break for a beer or an ice cream???
Ha Ha! It takes about twice as long to make the iMovies as it does to view them! Of course I took many breaks as I was putting each one together! No beer, though, I am more the chocolate break type (It doesn't matter what form the chocolate is in...candy, ice cream, cookies)
I haven't got grandchildren yet....our daughter just married last year, so I am hoping to have my movies all completed before I begin making ones of grandchildren!
Maybe I will become as organized as you are by then

  • InputFile doesn't show File too large message

    Hello,
I've got an inputFile component on my adf page and maximum file size specified in web.xml:
    <af:inputFile id="if1" binding="#{backingBeanScope.UploadBean.inputFile}"
       valueChangeListener="#{backingBeanScope.UploadBean.onUploading}"
       autoSubmit="true" simple="true" label="Upload"/>
    <context-param>
        <description>Should be 250Mb</description>
        <param-name>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.UPLOAD_MAX_DISK_SPACE</param-name>
        <param-value>262144000</param-value>
</context-param>When I'm trying to upload a 400Mb file the application gets busy for a couple of seconds and then a red border around inputFile appears.
    But there's no message.
How could I specify a userfriendly message?

Upload works fine, this thread is only about "File too large" message.
    Thanks.
    JDev 11.1.2.3

You are wrong. The file uploading starts in the background. Your listener only gets the stream once it already on the server (either in memory or as a temporary file).
If you use Chrome as a browser you should see that the upload starts, but the processing is canceled once the server finds out about the file size. All this is checked before you get control.
Do a small test and remove the autoSubmit="true" and you'll see the message.

  • Insane "backup is too large" message, 4x total space available on drive.

I've read a large number of the "backup is too large" messages in this forum, but none of them seem to explain the message I am getting:
"This backup is too large for the backup volume...requires 2460.3 GB but only 731.5 GB are available."
Under Options, the only disk included in the backup is the internal hard disk (250GB) and the "Total Included" is 161.3 GB as displayed in this screen.
Since I can backup my "entire" disk 4 times in the space remaining, this doesn't make any sense.
Suggestions of blowing away and starting over would just be completely counterproductive to the idea of having a backup system and I really need to fix this issue and not lose the archived history which I reference (regularly).
The time machine backup is stored on a Mirrored 2x1TB system, so only 270GB is currently being taken up by backups.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts,
    Barney

All of the stuff I've read seems to indicate that Time Machine should be able to sort this issue out normally.
Yes, but you should see the long "preparing" and "deep traversal" only for a good reason -- if there's no crash, the incremental backups should be pretty quick.
In this case there was a crash, which likely is in the vicinity of when the last backup succeeded, so I do confirm this as the likely cause.
I'm wondering if one of those crashes managed to corrupt the File System Event Store. That might explain what's going on, as TM estimates how much space it's going to need from there.
I run drive repair fairly regularly and have just before and just after this crash...its amazing how often permissions get scrambled even when there are no crashes or strange events...but that's another topic.
The other thing that repeated crashes might do is, corrupt your disk(s). I'd recommend a +Repair Disk+ on your TM volume and a +Verify Disk+ on your internal HD. If the internal needs repair, you'll have to boot from your Leopard disc and use it's copy of Disk Utility.
I've never had anything other than Permissions issues with the internal drive. I've had external drive failures, but recently replaced all of my old drives (hence the raid sets) so this should not be a major issue in the future.
Let me ask this: you say it crashes a lot, but are these OS crashes or programs that get into tight loops that can't be force-quit, so you do a force power-off?
A lot is probably an extreme statement, but I'm contrasting it to how stable Mac traditionally is (I develop in all three of the major universes). I have to reboot a few times a day due to instability, but sudden stop/force shutdown is more like once every couple of weeks on average.
Also, rarely is it my programming that directly contributes to the crash or force quite situation. Its normally strictly an OS crash [grey quit unexpectedly box] or other software hang [can't force quite or kill]. I just attribute this to the heavy load that the computer is constantly under and the influx of relatively unstable development tools (XCode alone crashes a few times a day in the middle of work, and its a pretty stable piece of software).
I do hate to say it, but if you can't reduce the frequent crashes, you may want to use a different backup app, such as CarbonCopyCloner (which I use in addition to TM), SuperDuper!, or the like. Their incremental backups run much longer than a "normal" TM incremental backup, as they don't use the internal log, but also won't get confused by a corrupt FSEventStore.
The Time Machine has really been a dream come true for development. I use source control and offline storage and full backups in addition to TM, but TM brings with it an incredible ease of browsing and analying file history and progression. I could see it being better, but I've found few things as easy to use and readily accessible as TM.
I'll run the tests from your previous posts since that has the added benefit of not losing the backup data. If its possible to just reset the system when something freaks out then I'm okay with that. I'd just hate to constantly reset all the history with it as well.
Thanks again for all of the feedback and I'll report back soon on success or failure.

  • I am trying to upload an imovie to youtube. it says project too large but i have permission for larger projects. Help and thanks.

I am trying to upload an imovie to youtube. It keeps saying "project too large" even though I have permission from youtube for over 15 minutes. Please help. Thanks.

share the video via a quicktime movie in whatever format you want to use, I usually create an mp4.  Once you that video is set (I usually save to my desktop) go ahead and upload from YouTube rather than going direct from iMovie.  I suspect you will not have the same size issue.

  • Project too large but under 2 hrs...how do i fit?

Compiled project is 108.5 MB too large for currently selected disc media.
How do I lower the bitrate or quality to fit?

Make the audio AC3 if you have not done so and you probably do not have to reencode video

  • Bypass "Project Too Large" for iMovie YouTube Publishing?

    Hello,
When attempting to upload a YouTube video over 10 minutes using iMovie, it will not allow me saying that the Project is too large and must be under 10 minutes. The thing is, I am able to upload video over 10 minutes because I signed up to YouTube when they allowed over 10 minute videos. I can still upload the videos if I do it manually but I wish there was a way to bypass this in iMovie. Any tips or suggestions besides telling me to do it manually?
    Thanks.

    Hi y'all,
I am having a simlar issue with iMovie for iPad.
My files are way to big to export.
The fileis is 2.4GB and I can only export 500MB to Vimeo.
It's 63 mins and I can only export 15 mins to youtube!
I recorded a video diary and have clipped the file/project in the original project/timeline in to day recordings. I have been unable to find a way to export those individual clips (day recordings) in to  separate folders. I was hoping I could export individual clips in to sepearate folders then export them.
    I hope this makes sense?
If it does please let me know if this possible with imovie for iPad?
    Thank you!

  • IMovie Project too Large posting to Youtube

My Youtube account is approved for more than 15 minutes and greater than 20GB, yet iMovie tells me It's too large, and that it needs to be under 15 mins and under 2GB.  Is this a restriction with iMovie?

  • File video dimensions (width/height) too large, importing AVI

I'm testing Windows 7RC and Adobe Production Premium CS4. Both CS4 and Windows are fully updated with all updates available through today. Premiere Pro CS4 is at 4.1.0.
I have hundreds and hundreds of AVI files captured from tape and from memory cards created by the capture process in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.1.  if I create a new project, HDV 1080i (60i) and try to import my AVI files I get the error message about 'file video dimensions (width/height) too large'. These files were created with the Cineform HD codec that came with 1.5.1. I have the CFHD codec "CineForm 10-bit-visually Perfect HD" loaded on this computer, and G-spot verifies that and can render and play the avi files. Since these are from HDV their actual dimensions are 1440x1080. I've also tried to import standard def AVI files with the same result.
I just picked a few random projects to attempt to open, and none of them will open. Not SD not HDV. I get the 'too large' message.
    Suggestions?
    Hawkeye

Throwing out wild guess here, but I think things changed with the way Premiere handled HDV with 2.0, at which point it went 'native' - meaning it no longer uses the Cineform codec.  I wonder if it's possible the two versions just don't mix, despite the Cineform codec being installed.

  • 6280 : file too large

    Hi,
I have a 6280 model and I try to send an e-mail message with an attachement larger then 100k. I receive a "file too large" message. I'm using an POP3 mail account. Memory status show 2,1 Mb free on the phone memory. When I try with an attachement smaller then 100 k it works. Nokia service in my cowntry tell me this is a phone manufacturer limit (100k) but i think this is stupid. Can I do something ?

i know that thing, that's just the bad bits about the phone it cant send larger than 100k, i dont think you could do anything about it.

  • PSE 7 Organizer - "File Too Large" = no thumbs

On my PSE 6 I would get this File Size Too Large message on my thumbnails in Organizer instead of an image. I went to PSE 7 thinking something might change but I'm still getting the same results. I shoot mostly in RAW and convert to JPEG in one of the last steps, but even some of the JPEG files produce the same results. Is there a size limit in Organizer? It would seem that many of us would be shooting in RAW format and would have them in the Organizer, so are others of you having this problem? Is there a way around it? I'm really tired of having to review my files in Canon's Digital Image Pro and then switching to PSE 7 to load the file I want into Editor.

FYI - there is a registry change that can be made to allow
more memory to be allocated to the Organizer (apparently the size of the
file that can be viewed is limited by the memory availble to the Organizer).
The instructions used to be at
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402760  however the link is "Unavailable".
Maybe someone is has an update.  With OS 64 and more memory available, maybe the algorithm used to set up available memory in the registry should be modified?

  • HT3779 File Too Large

The file says the document is too large to open but I can open it in Excel just fine.  How do I open it in Numbers?

Numbers has a 65000 row (approximately) and 255 column limit to the size of each table. The row limit is reduced as the column numbers approach their limit.
A file too large message is usually triggered by these limits, not by the actual file size, which may include several megabytes devoted to graphics, photos and formatting.
For large files, you may find it better to use Excel, or one of the Open Source Office suites; OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or NeoOffice.
