Project will be converted from Adobe Captivate 7 to Adobe Captivate 8 format

I upgraded from Captivate 7 to 8 a week ago, but each time I save the project I am working on, I get the same message that it will convert the project from 7 to 8. Each time I click save to accept this, but it just asks again the next time. Also, each time I open Captivate 8 I get a message about my Firewall and each time I check to allow access, but it will just ask me again the next time I open it.
And finally, on Thursday I spent hours working on my project - saving throughout the day, but when I came in Friday all of Thursdays work was gone. I searched my computer for hours, but never found Thursdays work. I obviously have some setting or something off. Any ideas on how to fix any or all of these problems?

I started with Captivate 5 then 5.5, 6 etc. Now I am on 8. Every time I switch versions I found the best way to convert a project is to Copy the slides from the old project to a new project. So create a new File on CP 8 and paste all the slides from your earlier version CP 7. It might be time consuming but I never had a problem. Also it is a very good practice to make sure in your preferences you tick the box Generate Project Backup (hours of work can be lost if not).

Hi there,
I'm making my first steps in After Effects.
I bought Classroom in a book After Effects cc.
The first step i have to take in lesson 1 is "Open and play the lesson01.mov sample movie to see what you will create in this lesson.
When i dubbel click this file.. this message pops up in AE (This project must be converted from version (macintosh 64) 12.0.x293. The original file will be unchanged)
The file will not play, and in the composition panel only a test image appears.
Why is this and how can i fix it?
I allready finished Lesson 1 but i still hope someone can explain me this message.
I hope its not a stupid question but it is particularly difficult for me because English is not my native language and all the lesson material is in English.

The warning simply means that the file was created in an older version of AE. The other issue is that you did not put your footage in the correct locations and it is missing. Use File --> Replace Footage to point to the proper storage locations.

How can I get all of my tags to convert from Adobe Elements 4 to Elements 11?

Only four of my 20 tags came across! I still have version 4 installed so if I can do something with it and then convert it again, I am able.

Sounds like an issue with an individual graphic, not with the process itself. If the 2 successful graphics are the first or last in your project, I'd start testing by importing the graphics in closest proximity...otherwise you may have to import in batches to find the offending file.
If you have a graphic in a format other than that of the "successful" graphics, you may want to test that format in particular.
One thing to consider: As I'm sure you know, any missing resources (fonts, graphics, xrefs) and any errors in updating your book will keep FrameMaker from operating smoothly. If you are sending FM info elsewhere (PDF, HTML, Help) then these subtle deficiencies can cause problems with info sent out of FM as well. "Fix" your FM files and you might solve seemingly unrelated issues elsewhere.
*Note: You mentioned you're testing single sourcing...FM7 files will require import to RoboHelp. With an eval copy of TCS3, you'd be able to create a link to FM10 files, allowing you update the RH9 via the FM10 files. It is a similar process, but by linking, you'll eliminate the importing and/or post processing of the HTML and significantly reduce the time needed to update your RH content.

Are there problems converting from Adobe Bridge to Organizer?

HI,
I've searched for information on this and haven't found anything so maybe there aren't any problems :} but...Murphy and I are good friends so I have to ask if there are problems.
I currnetly run Elements 8 on a MacBook and have about 2000 pictures in Bridge and some in Iphoto. I use bridge for pictures for web design and Iphoto for family stuff. I 'help out' with the computer stuff at a cat shelter in town and they have just bought Elements 10 and run the PC version. I am thinking of upgrading to 10 so I will be familiar with their version but am worried about converting from bridge to organizer. Are there any known problems? Is there a tutorial some place about the conversion from bridge to organizer.

You have no pictures in Bridge. Bridge is just a browser; it just shows the current state of any folder to which you point it, so that's no problem. If you really want to use organizer, it will pick up your metadata keywords when you import the photos. Photos from iphoto will be duplicated on import to the organizer (normally it just makes a dbase pointer to the existing photo) to avoid inadvertently writing into the iphoto library, which can corrupt it and cause loss of the photos it contains.
You will lose any stacks in bridge when you import the photos into organizer.

Converting from Adobe 8 to Adobe 6

We use MS SharePoint version 7 as our Knowledge Management system. The indexer for Adobe pdf files will only index up to Adobe 6. Is there a way to convert our documents from version 8 to version 6?

PDF versions are not the same as the versions of Acrobat. See here a
specification of the various PDF versions:

Basically, unless the file contains new features which are not compatible
with older versions, you can save a PDF as an earlier version using Acrobat.

Project will not convert to AIR

We have been using Flash 9 for a significant project (just over 100k lines of code) and now need to migrate the project to AIR as flash 10 disables keyboard entry when in full screen. The "Convert to AIR" options is greyed out in the project and if as a test we create a new test project in our copies of FB4 those new projects have the option enabled to convert to AIR.
We're guessing there could be library support issues in AIR that may not be compatable as they are in Flash 9/10 but we need a way to help determine what may not be compatable. Is there a logger, debugger, tracer, or anything we can use to tell us why FB4 is determining the project as not valid for converting to AIR?

FYI, We ended up converting the AS3 only project to a Flex project which then can be changed to Air with the "Convert to Air" option in Flash Builder 4.
There were some comments around the forums that you could convert direction from AS3 to Air and it was documented in "Adobe Air Docs" but after 3 man hour days of searching for this supposed document that was referenced by comment but never found a document, link or otherwise and we gave up on this phantom document.
We found the main 'hack' of converting an AS3 to an Air project was first to convert the project to a flex project by deleting the project (but select to leave files untouched) and then create a new Flex application but use the same name and same file location which then created a Main.mxml (or PROJECTNAME.mxml) in the previous projects directory. Close down FlashBuilder4 and restart it. Edit the *.mxml and added a 'applicationComplete="init();" paramater in the <s:Application> tag and then created a <fx:Script> tag with flex code of:

We also had to change embedded fonts and other items setup in the former main project file to instead be setup in the new .mxml. Also we had to change the main class to accept a Stage variable.

Photoshop CS6 will not install from Adobe Apps manager

I have the cloud subscription and I tried downloading PS, it said it could not so so because i had the beta installed. So I got rid of the beta and tried again....still said no. So I emptied my trash and restarted, and it still will not download PS. I got all my other software ok, but cant get PS for some reason. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I talked with support, go download the adobe cleaner and it will allow you to see what files from PS CS6 are still on your system and get them off. I am trying now, will let u know if it works.

Acrobat 7 Pro will not install from Adobe download 22020134.exe

I run Windows XP. I uninstalled my copy of Adobe 7 Pro to transfer it to another computer. I successfully installed the download provided by Adobe (which replaces original disks) on the other computer. I found I was having general problems with this computer (nothing to do with Adobe) and decided to uninstall Adobe 7 Pro and reinstall it on my original computer. So far it has failed to install and I get the message: Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate.
I have removed all Adobe products from my computer other than Photoshop elements.
Has anyone any ideas as to what I can try next. Anyone's help would be much appreciated.

Run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and remove any left over parts of the Acrobat folder you had before. Then reboot and install. You may still have some issues with the install since the activation no longer works with AA7. If this is the case, then check http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1287524.

Converting from Adobe Photoshop Album

I am considering jumping to the MAC platform for my home computers. I think I have all the wireless device and application issues resolved, but one hurdle remains...
I have over 5000 photos edited, annotated, and organized in Adobe Photoshop Album. Is anyone aware of a conversion process to IPhoto 5?

Thank you for the suggestion, I have tried converting the catalog from the psa file as well as restoring from the psb (backup) file and neither one is working on my new computer. It partially converts the catalog from Photoshop Album (PSA) 2 but then all the file links are broken in Photoshop Elements (PSE) 9. I have about 10,000 photos in this catalog, so it is a lot of files. I still have my old computer so I tried installing PSE 9 on it and then it converted the PSA catalog fine, so I backup up the PSE 9 catalog on my old computer and tried doing a restore from this backup on my new computer and same thing, only some of the files come through.

Using DAQmx PCI-6534? It will not convert from Traditional.

I am trying to convert my PCI-6534 from a traditional NI-DAQ Device to a DAQmx device using the conversion tool in Measurement & Automation Explorer. After it looks for devices, it says there is no Corresponding NI-DAQmx Device for the PIC-6534.

How do I convert from Adobe Edge HTML to a YouTube vid?

I'm new to Adobe Edge, but have successfully built a fairly lengthy and complex animation - only now, the client wants to make it into a YouTube video. The only way I can find to do this, as suggested elsewhere, is to attempt a screen capture using Camtasia, Screenflow or similar. I've done this, but cannot get a smooth recording. Has anyone got a better solution, please?

so, went to that link, Rick, and downloaded a free trial version of what turns out to be PlayClaw... loaded it onto a pc and then discovered it needs an activation code, which despite trawling through a bunch of youtube vids, i haven't managed to get to work. Frustrating, because some reviewers suggest it is pretty good. I don't want to fork out for a paid version, in case it's not. I want a solution from within adobe's zillions of software packages, ideally.
Meanwhile, i've started rebuilding the whole thing in Flash - a thankless task, because Edge imports svg files, where-as Flash imports eps files, so i'm having to convert all my assets first whilst i'm at it... a tedious process. Somewhere in the back of my mind i have this fear that down the line i'll have to redo it all again in AfterEffects for some as-yet unknown reason...

.prproj project will not open in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

When I try to open .prproj file, I get the message "Where is the File <name of file>.mpeg?
1) I have tried manually finding the .mpeg file and double-clicking on it. This displays the error: "File Import Failure 'Unsupported format or damaged file.'"
2) I have also tried selecting the "Skip" and "Skip All" buttons. In this case, Adobe Premiere .prproj opens but none of videos appear. Instead there is a red screen saying "Media Offline"
What is causing these issues? Why am not able to select the unfindable files and, more importantly, why can I not open the .prproj project. ANy insight would be greatly appreciated!

How to delete all projects and accompanied files from Adobe Premeiere Elements 13

I would like to delete all projects and files and start anew, but I cannot find a clear enough instruction how to do it. Please help'

There is no one delete button that wipes away the project file (.prel) and the project's assets. You need to go to the save locations of the project file (.prel) and its assets and delete
each one by one wherever they are saved UNLESS you pre-plan and, before the project is created, set up a particular project so that the project file with assets goes to its own folder instead of each component of the project going into a common place for Premiere Elements files and folder where you have to pick out the materials for deletion one by one by name.

Default type situation
If left at defaults and if your Premiere Elements 13 is running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, go to Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/13.0 and, in the 13.0 Folder, delete standalone files with your target project's name and delete files with your target project's name in the folders found in the 13.0 Folder.
Plan Ahead
Edit Menu/Preference/Scratch Disks - Set all to Same As Project.
Create a new folder at a hard drive location of choice.Then point the project file to that folder for the Save In.
Tip: When the Expert workspace of the new project opens, go to File Menu/Save As. Name the project and set the new folder created as the Save In of the Save Project dialog.
Please review and consider and then let us know if any of that worked for you.

Projects will not open from external drive

I have been creating and saving my projects to an external drive for sometime now. When I tried to open it recently, it recognizes the Lacie but it will not recognize the projects. When you look on the Lacie it's self all of the files are there but when clicked on they still will not open.
Please help I don't know what to do...
