Project will not export

I have downloaded video clips from my camera to iMovie (latest version).
I can view clips in iMovie.
I can build a project ; recent one has only 3 clips at a mere 1 minute long.
I then go to SHARE - File and nothing. It does not export.
Any advice please?

I have imported videos from 2 cameras now to 2 Macs in my house - both quite new. But none will export.
In the end I used SCREENFLOW to capture the video on my screen as it was playing then exported screen capture to QuickTime.
I have an old clamshell iBook with iMovie 3 or 4 and will try that this weekend.

4:3 to 16:9 project will not export - marriage in trouble - help!

I'm using CS4, and I'm editing a friend's wedding video as a favour, clearly quite a big one. He used a pro camerman, who shot in widescreen. I'm so used to filming and editing my own 4:3 footage, that I just forgot, and captured the whole project (several hours) and began editing without even noticing my mistake; all the widescreen footage had been captured as 4:3.
Once I realised what I'd done (halfway through the project), I did a bit of googling and figured there'd be a work around, even if I have to stretch the pixels and lose a bit of quality. But having come to the end of the editing process and tried to export, strange things are happening.
All my footage appears and plays as 4:3 in Windows Explorer and VLC. But in the source monitor in PP it's widescreen. On all the sequences' program monitor - except one - it appears as 4:3. But on just one sequence the program monitor shows widescreen. Copying footage from other sequences meant that appeared as widescreen, too. But exporting from there, even though everythign looked right in the encoder, created a 4:3 final film. Opening up a new project, and importing the old project, led to exactly the same result, although I haven't yet tried to stretch the 4:3 footage (because at the moment, this won't solve the problem of the sequence that appears to be widescreen but renders as 4:3)
I'm confused as to why one sequence would behave differently; I certainly can't think of settings that may have been changed.
I have to hand this over to an old friend on Thursday who's having problems with his marriage - she's terrifying, actually - and he is going to get in a lot of trouble if his precious DVD is late. Please help if you can...

Right click on the clips in your project bin and select "Interpret footage." You should see an option to choose the correct pixel aspect ratio for DV Widescreen. I think you can select multiple clips at once and do this, but the point is you'll need to make sure all your clips have the correct footage interpretation selected.
Assuming you captured via firewire, there should be no issue (DV footage is transferred, actually, not captured...so the footage is not "altered" at all by any capture settings you may have, but the interpretation method may be incorrect, which is why you'll need to correct it).
Once you have the proper interpretation, drop your footage in a DV widescreen sequence and it will display properly without any further adjustments. Then during export, be sure again to select a preset with "widescreen" listed (check the export screen to be sure it displays the way you like). If you create your own preset or modify one, just be sure that the pixel aspect ratio is matched to your footage (DV widescreen).
Also, please note that when you change the footage interpretation method, this applies to all the clips in any sequences you currently have them in...so if you've got your clips in a 4:3 sequence, you'll need to copy and paste the CONTENTS of your sequence into a new widescreen sequence. Dragging and dropping a 4:3 sequence into a widescreen sequence will not work...regardless of the footage items themselves. When you nest a 4:3 sequence in a 16:9 sequence, the footage item is the sequence (NOT the original footage items themselves) so you will still see pillar boxes on left/right if you do it that way.
Again, if you've already done all your edits in a 4:3 preset, just copy and paste all CONTENTS of that sequence to the new widescreen sequence and your newly applied footage interpretations should appear correctly.

Final Cut Pro 10.0 is not exporting my projects right now.
I have a little over 17 mins long project in 1080p HD 29.97p and everytime I go to share->export or command E, nothing happens.
Is there any solutions?

Missing render file/project will not render

I'm new to using FCE - just got my iMac with FCE pre-installed a few weeks ago - and have run into a big problem with current project. When I open the program, it tells me one render file is offline and I can reconnect or continue. I have no idea where the file could possibly have gone, so I select 'continue'. But now the project will not render. I have four sequences open in the project file, and have tried everything - locking and unlocking tracks, selecting various combinations of render both, render all, render selection, rendering only audio or video, etc. All the appropriate render selections are checked in every option. But still, the project won't render any of the sequences; the render box comes up for a split second and goes away faster than the eye can follow. I've tried setting the scratch disk; that didn't help. I tried saving the project, closing and opening the project, etc. Nothing helps. It just won't render. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem?

When I say it won't render, I literally mean nothing happens when I hit the render command. I see the red timeline render bars. However, I see them only when I go to export the video as something else - a mov, dv stream, etc. In the project while working, there's nothing indicating render is required.
To try and solve this problem of the missing audio clip, I opened a new project and imported the .mov file I was working with initially, which theoretically should have all its parts intact. I made the necessary modifications to the file (essentially starting all over) and then attempted to render. It still won't render. Nothing happens at all when I click any of the render options, even after I've made modifications to the video that would clearly require render - changing the aspect ratio and applying a widescreen video filter. So the program should recognize the changes and render, but nothing happens, whether I choose render from the menu or hit the keyboard shortcut.
I'm a little hesitant to try scrapping the preferences as suggested above, but I am totally perplexed.

Will not export one of 3 audio layers

I have tried to export a sequence, but 2 of the 3 audio layers will not export in any format (I've tied several -mp2, H.264 and even just audio in mp3 ). All audio layers play fine in the timeline and when nested in other sequences. However I have the same audio clips in other projects -also in similar layers, and they export without a problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks, the file in question …as it turns out was only one of the tracks (not “layer”…sorry), albeit the main track.
I found it as a low res sample off the net. I then slowed it down to 17% - and it sounded great on the timeline. I’ve used it in 2 projects. The first one had no problem.
However in the project in question, no matter what I tired –converting it to WAV in Premiere or whatever, It would play fine on the timeline, but not play when exported (to any format). I took the same file and re rendered it in Soundbooth as a stereo file –both mp3 and the much larger wav, and tied it again. Both files then would export…but the sound mysteriously changed pitch (without using any effects). I then threw up my hands and used Windows sound recorder. This worked. I converted the Windows media file to a wav and mp3 files…and they both work. Very odd!
BTW I prefer mp3 since it saves space, and I’ve had no inherent problem with them and cannot tell the difference with the audio with high quality Mp3s.

What Keynote features will not export well to PowerPoint?

I am an expert PC user switching to mac...
We use MS Live Meeting for webinars, and it only accepts (as far as I know) PowerPoint presentations. I would like to produce the presentation in Keynote, and then save as to PowerPoint. However, my experience with Pages importing office 07 has been disappointing to say the least.
So, before I spend a lot of time learning Keynote, I would like to know what features of Keynote WILL NOT export properly to PPT. I don't want to spend a lot of time creating cool effect (magic move?) only to realize it was wasted.
Is there a URL that explains what won't work? Is there a way to gray out features in keynote that will not work in PPT?

Here are a few issues with exporting:
Generally the transitions will not export well -- any of the effects that are not directly available in PowerPoint will not transfer at all, and even those that are available (such as "dissolve") for the most part look worse in PowerPoint than in Keynote. This includes "content-aware slide transitions" such as Magic Move, Text Effects, and Object Effects transitions.
Smart Builds are not supported at all. Action Builds are not supported at all.
"Normal" Builds In and Out have limited support -- again, any of the animations not directly available in PowerPoint will not transfer.
In terms of graphics, Drop Shadows have limited support -- any shadows will be rendered as a solid colour, without translucency or feathered edges. Text translucency is not supported, although image translucency is. Image Adjustments are respected in export.
(The above is all gleaned from spending 5 minutes playing with Keynote. If you want to determine if some specific effect is available, I'd suggest downloading the trial version and see what happens.)
I have used Keynote quite successfully to create PowerPoint presentations, but for the most part I avoided any animations/transitions, and used it primarily for its templates, graphic abilities, and easier management of slides (e.g., I find it far more straightforward to edit templates in Keynote than in PowerPoint). Also, I always check the finished product very carefully in PowerPoint, as it is not uncommon for text spacing to be somewhat different.

Bleeding background shape will not export to PDF

Hello everyone,
I am working in InDesign v. 7.0.3 and when I set a rectangle to bleed on all sides it will not export to PDF (using Adobe Acrobat Pro, v. 9.4.2) . That being said, shapes and text within the page all show up. Does anyone have any suggestions that might solve this very annoying mystery?

P.S. I should add that the save dialog box presents a desktop icon that does show the complete file.

Adobe Illustrator Draw will not export to desktop Illustrator with the photo layer turned on. This severely strains my workflow and makes it incredibly hard to add the image after it is exported to the desktop Illustrator. Is this being fixed??

This is a new bug in our latest release, and we apologize for not catching it before it went out. We are putting together a patch to address the issue. The only workaround at this point is to delete the photo and then send to Illustrator again.

PXI - DAQmx tasks will not export to MAX 5.4

I am in the process of upgrading a PXI 1050 with an 8176 to an MXI bridge. The latest headache is that the CVI program had several DAQmx (tasks) defined in MAX 3.1.1 which will not export to MAX 5.4. I have been posting these additional questions on my original thread MXI not visible in MAX. I have many tasks for installed PXI cards. I was trying to make simple tasks just defining these cards to change the errors I receive in CVI. I do not have the option to define a task for some of these cards like the 4070 DMM. I did not generate the original CVI code. I am not sure what is defined the DAQmx. Can someone provide some insight ? I have viewed the suggested videos and white paper links. They were instructive but of little help.

Unfortunately; no updates without dollars. While we all work for the same company, we must contract work between departments. There was no defect with the software as delivered. Old age crept in to the hardware. Any upgraded hardware, it turns out, requires updating of the software. The unit had operated reasonably well, until a couple years ago. An unfortunate selection of network security software caused massive headaches. The software chosen assumed a more advanced level of hardware. Mandatory installation on all network computers rendered these controller inoperable. Our local IT guys shaved down the install to minimal components but the controller lost all available ram to this software, NI-MAX requires 20 minutes to build it's database on reboot. The computer controllers struggle to function. They periodically get lost and require a reboot, causing 30 minutes or more to restart. This is driving a replacement. We decided that it would be more cost effective to move to a standard computer interface. With the MXI, we could have a much more friendly and versatile interface. The upgrade is with a different "color" of corporate money. There isn't enough funding to contract a software upgrade. It is feasible to complete the upgrade in house, once we can identify the players and their function. Second we need the necessary time and access to the equipment. I do not have the ability to expend too many extra hours at work. So it takes time. I have been able to piece together the following. In the development stage back in 2004 - 2005, the developers used both Traditional DAQ and DAQmx. They build tasks for the SCXI in CVI. They have toolboxes making calls to Traditional DAQ. Also at some point in time they must have used the option in 3.1.1 to Convert Traditional NI-DAQ(Legacy)Configuration to NI-DAQmx, which built all the extra DAQmx devices we see in the device tree in the MAX 3.1.1. So beyound the errors there appears to be a few red herrings, just for fun. So there is no tasks to convert from 3.1.1, everything is contained in the CVI code. I have to find a way to use the CVI debugger to lead me to the nested, buried code causing the errors, and simply correct them. Just for another layer of complexity, they are probably logic errors, not syntax errors, or updated code errors where the legacy code no longer functions with the updated drivers. Or, hey, it could be the beta version of NI-DAQ, because it is the only one working with Windows 7 (32).

It sounds like you tune is an .m4p file - p=protected and has DRM.
Previously you could get the + version which was a .m4a file with no protection/DRM.
The + option has been replaced with iTunes Match - $24.99 a year.
A better option if you have a .m4p file would be to repurchase the .m4a version from the iTS unless you want to update your entire library with iTunes match.

Premiere will not export Uncompressed or DV compressed video files

Working with CS4 with all current updates...
I have no issue exporting any other format (that I know of) including flv and wmv and m2v.
I am using PCs with Windows 7 Pro 64bit on a Desktop with 8GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on a Laptop with 4GB RAM. I've had nothing but problems with CS4 since I cleanly installed my Desktop and purchased my Laptop. Adobe Premiere will not export DV compressed with video, only audio, and will not export uncompressed at all! I have a system with Vista Pro 64bit at work, and none of these problems are there.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the whole suite (plus removed all preferences files and went in to the user profile and manually removed any traces) to no avail. As I am experiencing this same issue across two totally different systems, is it a known bug with Windows 7 64bit? Is there any way to fix the issue?

Sorry it's taken a bit to get back with you... I've been busy on another system. My assets are R3D files at 4k resolution under the Red 1080p preset. I have a Core2Duo with 8GB RAM, 2TB HDD, Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit and CS4 Production Premium. What other system specifics do you require?
I do have a Matrox RTX2 card; and did not uninstall and reinstall it when I uninstalled and reinstalled my CS4 software.

Lightroom 3.4 will not export a file to any place except the user a/c. When I open the export dialog box (File>export) or right-click or the box at bottom left of the library window, and select 'choose', it will only show me the user account. i am unable to see either the C;/ drive, any of the other HDD's on my machine (9@) or the LAN i use. a similar thing happens when importing. i am using Win 7 Pro x32 SP1 with all updates, 4Gb RAm Nvidia 9800GT...

deleted the preferences. No joy.
reinstalled in a newly named folder after rebooting.No joy.
created a new user account and copied data across, using the MS-approved method. No joy.
4 Called Adobe tech support., who referred me to their Lr specialist. He told me
he had no idea what the problem was and
to create yet another user account and move data across in chunks.(Your Case Number:0182304540) and see when it fell over. Definitely no joy.
With work piling up, i am getting frustrated.

hi: i think i have found a way around it.
by manually entering the drive address/path in the folder to be selected, it suddenly shows it.
likewise entering the adress and saving it as a new export preset suddenly brings up all the hidden presets.
wish i knew why it did this...

Usual fix: reinstall the app:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Keynote 08 will NOT export to Quicktime

I think it is ever since I installed Leopard or Keynote 08 that my Keynote recordings will not export to Quicktime. During 2007 I made many Quicktime movies using Keynote all of which exported successfully.
When I click on "Export" the function commences. The movie will then play in a Quicktime window with my voice over recording which I made in Keynote, but it will NOT save as a Quicktime movie that can be used elsewhere.
Does anyone have a workable answer to this issue.

The other work around that I've found is to tell it "send to iDVD" but then quit iDVD when it pops that up. You'll end up with just the quicktime file it created.
What I noticed is that when a "quicktime export" plays in QT, it has a fps rate of like 7 or 8 or even 13 but the dynamic "playing fps" goes up to 30 during transitions and back to 0 when there isn't a transition. At least with the iDVD cheat you end up with 24 fps. That may work for some people, that is film rate, but I'm in need of NTSC DV 29.97. So I import it into Final Cut Express, and do an export conversion.
I don't use audio, so I don't know how that would work in this cheat, but since your voiceover (I'm guessing based on trying to put music to my slides) is one entire track, you can add that in FCE before that export and line it up there.
If anyone else has suggestions to get a 29.97 export correct with the "export to quicktime", I'd love to hear it. This cheat takes too long for my work.
