Project won't replay first slide

I have a problem that I’m not sure how to explain.
After I publish my Captivate project (as a zip file for scorm), upload to my LMS, it plays fine the first time. However, after playing slide 1, I cannot click on slide 1 in my Table of Contents to redisplay. All I get is a blank screen.
Note: I can get back to slide 1 using the Back and Next buttons, but this doesn’t help me if my user wants to navigate the project using the TOC.
I have unselected Auto Play and am not using a Preloader. I’ve tried using these, but it doesn’t make a difference.
Anyone have any ideas?

It is a static widget but has only navigation capabilities. And you tried to hide/show the animation as actions on leaving, entering the slide?

When reporting to LMS it is the LMS that takes care of bookmarking, wondering if this is possible within Captivate itself? I don't know Moodle, but did you check the settings there?

Power point project won't move to the next slide

I create a project with several power point slides and then some automation and then slides again. The automation created within captivate moves from slide to slide. But the power point slides don't move to the next slide automatiacally. I have to click on next to make them move. I looked in the manual and can't find a source to tell me what to do with the slides to make them move automatically (like a slide show would be). Any suggestions?

When you import a PPT, you have two options. One option allows the PPT to just play through. The other option inserts a Click Box object on slides that prevents the slide from moving forward until clicked by the user. The choice is made in the dialog.
The default is On mouse click. After your slides arrive, the timeline looks like this:
To allow the slide to move forward, delete the Click Box.

Slide/project won't pause on return to slide

I'm using Captivate 5 and have the following workflow set up:
I have a slide that explains a concept. The slide features a button I created with the button widget. The name of this button is Show Me. When the user clicks it, they are taken to a slide that plays an animation as a demonstration for the concept on the previous slide. When this slide displays, the slide/project seems to pause to let the animation play through (and the animation is set to loop, so it will keep playing as long as the user is on the slide). On the animation slide there is another button, also created with the button widget, that is named Go Back and takes them back to the slide they came from.
The problem is after I click Go Back, if I click the Show Me button again, I will return to the animation slide, but the project/slide does not pause this time. The animation plays for a number of seconds and then the project advances to the next slide without any interaction from the user.
I've tried adding pause widgets, and click boxes, to force a pause in the project, but nothing seems to work. When the user revisits the animation slide, it quickly goes to the next slide regardless.

What is the best way to replay a slide?

What is the best way to replay a slide? The 'Rewind' button in the default player skins restarts the course from the begining. Is there a way to set a custom button to replay a slide without restarting the course?

Do you want it on each slide? Are you on CP7 or 6? Create a shape button: you can do it either on the master slide, or on the first slide timed for the rest of the project. Be sure to put it on top if it could be covered by other projects. Create this advanced (or shared action on CP7 if you want to reuse in future projects):

How do I set my project to advance to next slide on mouse click vs just play?

I'm brand new to Captivate 6 (never used it before) I have put together a mock presentation from scratch which has a few introductory slides then a quiz. When I publish it there is a "play" button which is NOT the behavior I want.
I watched a training video from Lynda.com and the insstructor imported a PPT file, there was a dialog box which asked the how to advance slide, there was a drop down menu and one of two options was advance "on mouse click". This is the behavior I'm looking for.
I've scoured the internet and forums etc to find a comparable option elsewhere in Captivate 6 when creating from scratch vs importing from PPT and cannot find one anywhere. I've also read that you can insert a click box object and that that would do what I'm looking for but that doesn't work either.
Does any such option exist and if so where/ how do I get to it/ use it. Please see attachments below. First screen shot is the first slide I get which isn't the first slide either, what's up with that? Next one is simply to show how the project just "plays" instead of advancing slide by slide. Third is my publish dialog box. Bottom line I don't want a "play" button I want the user to mouse click next, next, next etc. How do I do this?

Maybe I understand something wrongly, but thought you also wanted to know how you can make slides advance on clicking the Next button instead of having it playing on automatically? And instead of using the playbar you want to have a Previous and Next button?
The way imported PPT with advance on Mouse click works is because there is a click box added to each slide that pauses that slide at its end. The user has to click on the slide to advance.
A click box is an 'interactive' object: this means that you can have it pausing the slide, that the user can interact with it and trigger an action like 'Go to Next Slide'.
You added (from what I see on the last screenshot) another interactive object, but now I'm confused: the third screenshot has a Prev and Next arrow, I think those are shapes. You do not need to add a click box on top of them (what I see on the last screenshot), they can be converted themselves into buttons. I blogged a lot about those shape buttons. Anyway, both click box and shape button can pause the slide. This is the case by default for click boxes (at the end of their duration, their timeline), for shape buttons you have to tell them to pause in the Timing accordion. In your case I certainly would choose a shape button because they can be put on a master slide, or timed for the rest of the project whereas Click boxes need to be unique on each slide, you'l have a lot of copy/paste to do then. In the Action accordion, On Success you choose the action, I think in this case you want 'Go to Next Slide' for the Next 'thing'
As for the first screenshot, Rod explained that you cannot get rid of the play button for pdf output, but you can have a poster image instead of the blank screen. There is a folder icon in Preferences, Project, Start and End when you deselect AuotPlay.

[Captivate 8] HTML5 Publishing - First Slide shows locally but not on test server

Hi all,
The Question
Has anyone run into this issue of the first slide not showing on HTML5 (and/or SWF) until you open up the TOC and select the recalcitrant slide and then it shows (and operates) just fine? Not on project load, just when it is selected.
The Description
I've only been using Captivate 8 for a short period of time, and I've run face first into a little bit of a bigger hurdle than I expected. At present, I have a simple, linear Captivate project that in essence replicates a Powerpoint (client specified). Everything was working just fine until I tried a HTML 5 Preview from Captivate 8 and first slide did not show. After some research my solutions to the problems I encountered was to:
Local preview occasionally causes a glitch. Solution: Publish locally and (pre)view the result. This didn't work.
Group all objects on the first slide and then attach the action Show to that group. This fixed the problem.
Following that I published it to a host server (test server at the moment, but ultimately it will the live dev server). I encountered the same problem, so:
Tried the group trick, above. No joy.
Opened up the TOC and navigated to the other slides. None of the buttons (previous slide, next slide) worked.
Renamed the "Mouse.mp3" to remove that annoying click. Result: All project buttons worked, but the first slide was not showing (grouped or otherwise).
Removed all master slide objects from the slide. No joy.
Removed the button (action: Next Slide) and reduced the play time of the slide to 5 seconds so that the slide would play upon loading, then just move to the next slide. No joy.
Tried all of the above with SWF and HTML 5 publication.
Tried all of the above with SWF only.
Once again, when I open up the TOC and navigate to the first slide ("Title Page") the blank slide that is populated only by the lonesome borders becomes the Title slide, as it should. Also, local preview from the file (\project\index.htm) works just fine.
Obviously I'm missing something. It's probably something incredibly obvious, so I thank you for your patience.
The Technical
Captivate 8.0.0.145
OS: Maverick OSX and Windows XP Pro SP1
Other: Adobe CS (up-to-date install)

First, apologies--I didn't see the "Getting Started" sub-community so if this thread can be moved there then thank you. Second, I missed some important details.
Project Details
Captivate 8, blank project*. Content at the moment is only text captions, media resources (pictures, two web objects [to Vimeo]), and transparent buttons. The project is stripped of the play bar as it is a self-paced lesson/module.
* I don't have the lead time to make this a responsive design, though that is the ultimate goal once the one-size-fits-all version (1024x627) has been released.
Testing Hardware Details
The following are the machines and browsers I've tested the HTML5 output on.
Mac (10.9.4) -- Chrome 36.0.1985.125 (hangs; need to open the TOC and click on "Title Page"), Firefox 30 (works fine), Safari 7.0.5 (9537.77.4) (works fine)
Windows 7 Pro SP1 -- IE 11 (works straight away! *shock*), Chrome 35.0.1916.153 m (hung, but on refresh worked fine), Firefox 31.0 (throws out unsupported error [known feature] but then loads up just fine).
Chromebook -- Chrome OS 35.0.1916.155 (worked straight off).
Smartphones -- Not supported, but iPhone 4S (iOS 7.1.2) (works fine, but not designed); Galaxy S5 Chrome (broken).
Tablets -- iPad2 (iOS 7.1.2) (play button loads partial content, on refresh works fine); Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Chrome (broken), Android Browser (works fine).
I'm more than willing to share a link to the project and the Captivate 8 file, but just thought that I would see if this gets any traction/recognition before going deeper.

Captivate 4 - after patch, published projects won't pause but skip ahead

Last week, I installed the patch to bring my version up to Version 4.0.1 Build 1658.
After the patch was installed, if I publish a file with a Table of Contents, it runs fine the first time. However, the second time I launch the published file, the first slide will display for a split second, and then it jumps to the first quiz question (if I have quiz questions in the project), or to the last slide I visited prior to closing the project.
If I then turn off the TOC and republish, I can navigate around the course, close it and re-launch, and it behaves perfectly.
I would rather use the TOC than have to manually build out the buttons.
I did a search, but I didn't find this problem elsewhere (doesn't mean it's not there, just that I couldn't find it ).
Any ideas about this, or should I submit a bug report?
This is a problem for my company - we've got a lot of folks working on a major Oracle roll-out, and the TOC definitely saves on development time if we could use it.
BTW, we tested the issue with projects that were published the week before the patch was installed. Projects with the TOC worked properly, and projects without the TOC worked properly. So it does NOT appear to be an issue with our environment. This is only happening with files published after the patch was installed that use the TOC. Yes, I've checked settings on the click boxes and buttons to make sure the pause was still configured correctly.

Phantom Play Button Appearing in middle of first slide

I have a Play button appearing in the middle of my first slide and cannot figure out where it is coming from. I
do not have any selections made for a control panel . Here is a capture of what I am getting. Anyone else have this problem? I really need help on this one. Never saw it before.

You may believe it to be a "Phantom", but the odds are you actually told it to be there.
Try clicking Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End.
My money is betting that you have cleared the "Auto Play" check box at the top of that screen.

Replay same slide in CP3

It seems that in Captivate 3 Adobe forgot to include the
option to "jump to" the same slide (if you look at yoru "jump to"
options for non-questoin slides, you won't find the slide number of
the slide you are currently on). For slides that include
non-rollover interactions, embedded SWFs that do not contain their
own separate navigation, text caption fields or images that overlay
each other or appear and disappera along the timeline, this can be
a frustrating omission, as it mightnormally mean jumping forward or
backward then returning to the same slide.
There is a workaround for this, however...and oddly enough,
it does involve jumping backward...
1. On the slide you want to replay, add a click box or button
or another type of interaction that allows you to control what
occurs when the interaciton is clicked, run or played; set the
tirgger mechanism (usually the click) at the end of the slide.
2. Go to the Properties, and set the action if correct to
"jump to previous slide." set the incorrect or "if the user clicks
outside of..." action to "infinite attempts."
3. Insert a new blank slide in front of the slide you want to
replay. Place no objects on this slide.
4. Set the duration for this new blank slide to "0.1" of a
second (you can't set it to "zero.")
Now, when you play or preview from the blank slide, because a
tenth of a second blows by so quickly, the blank slide will play
then automatically continue to the slide you want to replay. After
lcicking your replay button/click box, the "jump to previous slide"
is triggered, the blank page plays for 1-tenth of a second and
moves back to your desired page.
It's not elegant, but it works...it also does not require you
to use a question slide (on which you can normally replay the same
slide) to do this.
This capability was available in CP 2 on regular slides, but
somehow was left off from CP3.
If there is some other way to do this that is a normal part
of CP3's capabilities, I'd appreciate it if it could be shared.

I located CP Guru's updated widget for v5.5 and that works just fine.
I tried your suggestion. Create a "Replay" button and followed what you suggested.
After creating the advanced action I click on the "Replay" button i created and in the Actions under "Assign" I dont have the option cpCmdGoToSlide..I only have "ShowPlaybar", "Mute", "TOC" and "CC". Only way I can link the button is to use Action On Success "Execute Advanced Actions" and Script Replay Slide which is what I named my Adv.Action.
This all works fine up to the point where I click the button. It returns back to the start of the slide, but the slide does not start again by itself.
Did I do something wrong or is that what is meant to happen ?
I am looking for the slide to start again as soon as they return to the start of the slide - which CPGuru widget seems to do.

CP 7 Bug? Long delay between preloader and first slide

I am using OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 and recenly created my first project since upgrading to CP 7. My project is 15 slides and contains only audio (mp3) and image files. My preloader is set to 25%. When I upload the published project to my web server and test, there is a fairly long delay after the preloader loads and before the course begins. It last several seconds and appears as if all the elements on the first slide are missing (the only thing that shows is the playbar - I have only the CC button turned on):
Is this a bug with CP 7? I have never experienced anything like this in CP 5.5 and 6.

Unless I'm mistaken, K would be a network drive, no?
Unfortunately RoboHelp is only one of a host of applications that doesn't fare well if you try to make edits to a project while it resides on a network drive.
Try copying the project to your local C drive. Perhaps create a folder named Projects and copy your project to a folder named Primo Intranet inside that folder so it looks like this:
C:\Projects\Primo Intranet
Once you do this, try opening your project again and you will likely have better luck.

Imovie project won't open in imovie?

I was working on my macbook in iMovie '09 on a project on a seagate external hard drive and the events was on the hard drive also. I've never had any problems with it crashing on me until this project and I just used it the day before. After 15 minutes into the project i try adding another title in and it just kept crashing from then on out when i try to add a title and preview the project in full screen.
To add to problem I unplugged the external hard drive (properly) and plugged it in my iMac imovie '11 and just added one title. Then I took the external hard drive back to my macbook and now the project won't even appear in imovie. And when i find the file itself in the hard drive and click to open it, it opens imovie but still no project. Somebody please help. I would greatly appreciated it.
It wouldn't be problem to work on it on my imac expect i have other people using it through out the day and my macbook is easier for me to work on where ever i'm at.
Please somebody say you have the answer?

I am only guessing but I suspect the problem occurs when they edit their projects on their personal Macs running Yosemite with iMovie 10.0.7. Editing (and possibly just opening) in 10.0.7 probably makes the projects incompatible with iMovie 10.0.6, the latest version that runs under Mavericks.
It would not be the first time that even minor updates to iMovie make backwards-incompatible changes to projects.
Downgrading form 10.0.7 to 10.0.6 is not at all a straightforward option so other than updating all machines to Yosemite, I'm not aware of a simple fix.

RH8 project won't open

I have an RH8 project that won't open today while it has opened every day for several months now. I deleted the .cpd file but no luck. What to do?
By the way, I searched this forum for "RH8 project won't open" and got 0(zero) results. Anyone know why?

Okay, I see part of my problem. There are duplicate project files
in different places: in c:\ My Robohelp Projects and c:\documents and settings\my documents\ My Robohelp Projects. Also, the xpj file was in the latter. So I moved it to c:\ My Robohelp Projects. In addition, I compared the list of documents in the two c: areas. I moved the xpj file to the c:\ My Robohelp Projects.
And there was a folder with the same name of my project within my project file, which is Callout Guide, so it was c:\ My Robohelp Projects\Callout Guide\Callout Guide. I inherited this project and did not want to make any changes at first since the project was generating and working, until yesterday. So with the duplicate folder, Callout Guide, I copied all the files from it into the first Callout Guide folder, which was c:\ My Robohelp Projects\Callout Guide.
If you're still following me, I believe I have all the files I need in the correct folder. So I opened the xpj file, which opened but is missing all the project files. I know the files are there but I need to point something in the right direction. And all the topics are x'd in red; when I try to search it can't find the file. Here are two screen shots:
