Projecting pdf images big screen?

hye,
I'd like to know whether there's an app for iOS 7 that let's me project images in PDF format with a videoprojector? The PHOTOS app from apple projects only the screen (tiny size), other apps, like PHOTOPRESENTER does project images in big screen size, but not PDFs.
Thanks for any help...

Hi A.E. --
If you're looking for a better response than you've gotten so far, I'd suggest the Mac Acrobat forums at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ee6b2ed/
There's a chance that someone here may know, but since it's clearly an Acrobat "feature" (given that it doesn't occur in Preview), someone will DEFINITELY know the answer over there.
Best of luck!

  • Indesign CC does not display linked PDF image on screen

On Mac1 (10.6.8) When I imported a PDF file into Indesign CC 9.1 as a linked image - the image would come in as usual, however the image would not appear on my screen. Only a blank page box.
I can see the thumbnail image of the imported PDF in the links palette correctly.
However, on my page it appears as a blank box.
Selected Hi-res preview, and still it appears as a blank box.
I export to PDF, and the image is there as it should be on the exported PDF.
I tried the same image on Mac2 (10.8.3) with Indesign CC.
The imported image appears correctly on the page. (no blank box)
I saved that file and opened it on Mac1 that is having the problem displaying the image.
Mac1 again does not display the image, instead it is a blank box.
Tried the same image import in Cs6. No issue on either mac1 or mac2
What could be causing the imported PDF not to display on the page in Indesign CC?
Has anyone else come across this problem?

  • How big does an image/project need to be in order to project it onto a screen without it becoming blurry?

I am creating a project that will be projected onto a large screen, and I want to be sure it doesn't come up blurry. What size/settings are best for a project like this?

There are so many variables involved:
    Quality of the projector
Capacity to adjust light level, image contrast and color balance
    Distance from projector the screen
    Degree of magnification
    Distance from audience to screen
    Ambient room light
….just to name a few that it would be prudent to run some tests. There is no one-size-fits-all calculation that can be considered adequate.

  • Sending image to my big screen TV with Winows running on my MacBook

    Greetings from RJ - Brazil!
I'm a newcomer to the MacBook and I'm having trouble sending my desktop image to my big screen TV when running Windows (Bootcamp partition). With MacOSX there is no problem at all, just connecting the DVI -HDMI cable and success! But with Windows...I've tried to change the keyboard configuration (disabling the default MacBook F1 to F12) and trying the default keys Function + F3 or F4 and nothing...
Anyone had this same problem? Need some help here! Thank you, kind regards, Jacques (jchueke)

There were seven MBPs produced in mid 2009 and mid 2010, including three different sizes, 13", 15" and 17". None of them were late 2009 or early 2010, so it's still impossible to know which MBP you have. A model identifier would be helpful.
Are these the adapters you have? Does one fit correctly into the MBP the way it's supposed to? And the other fit correctly into that adapter and have a RCA video jack (normally yellow)?

Plug an RCA cable (normally yellow) into the video jack on the adapter, and into the yellow on the front of the TV.
Plug a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA jacks adapter into the audio out jack of your MBP. Plug a red and a white RCA cable from that adapter into the red and white ports right next to the yellow port. Select that input on your TV.
Go to System Preferences > Displays and see if the TV is being recognized. Select Mirroring. You may have to select a different resolution. I don't know if you have a MBP with dual GPUs and you have to select the proper one.
See if this gets you anywhere and post back with more information.

  • Best setting for a big screen projection?

    Hey,
I'm working on a project that is supposed to be screened on a big screen (I assume something like a small movie theater screen) and I was wondering - what would be the best settings when exporting for something like that? If I compressed it with h.264 but still kept it HD 1440x1080 would that be good enough for a big screen projection or would it be too compressed? I am working in Apple ProRes, the video is about 4 minutes long and when I export it with current settings - it comes out to be about 5.5GB (most of the footage I used was old archived videos though) and I'm trying to get it down to about 2GB so I can send it over the internet.
Anyone out there ever exported a movie for a movie theater before?

    David Harbsmeier wrote:

How do you know that the playback system will have the codec needed to play your file?
Anyone by any chance know of a free software that can split the 5.5GB across multiple data dvds?
Why not use a dual-layer DVD?
David's suggestion makes sense, but if you really want to know...
You can break up large files into smaller segments using the Terminal command "Split".
In the following example, we will break a short (imaginary) movie, "MyFilm.mov" into 5MB pieces, in this form it could be sent piece by piece via email, without blocking the recipients mailbox for everything else.
Place the file to be split onto the desktop (this keeps it simple, otherwise you will have to "cd" to the directory where your movie resides)
    Open Terminal and...
TYPE: *cd desktop* and press return
TYPE: *split -b 5000k MyFilm.mov* and press return
This will produce a number of files on your desktop named xaa, xab, xac and so on. There is a way to retain the original name or rename the file to something else but I don't have documentation on this at hand.
The "5000k" part of the command is the size of the individual split files (in this case, the file will be broken into pieces of approx. 5MB each
Depending on the files total size you might want to break it into say, 50MB pieces - substitute "50m" for "5000k" in this case. This also saves you from having to type all those zeros!
These days, you are more likely have a movie several Gigabytes in size - as an example, the DV format uses 13GB of disk space for an hour of video. Prepare those files for burning to multiple CDs by typing "650m" after the split -b command.
This may take some time to process, depending on the size of the resulting files, how much RAM you have and the speed of your Mac.
At some point, your emailed or archived files will need to be re-assembled into a viewable movie. So....
Rejoin a set of split files:
Place all the files "xaa", "xab" etc, that are to be rejoined, onto the desktop
    (keep it simple, remember...)
    In Terminal;
TYPE: *cd desktop* and press return
Type *cat x* > MyFilm.mov* and press return. Again, this may take some time, depending on the size of the resulting files.

  • Very dark image on external big screen

Hi. I've got my 15"MBP attached to a Samsung 40" via miniDV out to VGA. Picture on the big screen is a lot darker than the Computer screen. Settings on the TV don't improve it. Also pretty dim when going through data projectors as well all on VGA. Any thoughts anyone. I had thought about the frequency settings on the display preferences.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Did you try re-calibrating the external to increase the brightness, or select another profile ?

  • Best way to make a logo that doesn't look like crap on big screens/phones?

I am working on creating a simple text logo that fits in a 110x300 pixel space for a website. The thing is, at this small resolution, it looks pretty crappy using Photoshop. So, I tried Illustrator because I believe you can save vectors with it (I'm new to all this). From what I know, vectors don't lose quality when zoomed in (or on big screens). However, I have no clue what I'm doing. I tried to "save for web" a logo as a png 24, and it still looks like crap. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just not possible to save a high quality image at that size?

So, there is no way to save a vector image for a website?
SVG. Flash. HTML5 canvas objects (JavaScript).
That was what SVG was really made for, but it never found widespread use.
    That's a pretty broad-based (and misleading) dismissal.
Use of SVG is increasing, not declining, and practically all current browsers now support it. So with such a statement, you would need to quantify "widespread". Of course SVG (like Flash and canvas) is and probably always will be less common than raster formats, but that's always been true of vector-based graphics in general, even in print. Less "widespread" use of something superior is an advantage to those who employ it. Sites which employ it effectively can be more engaging and dynamic than the far more "widespread" ones which don't. That's the whole point.
Fonts are also vector-based graphics and are certainly pretty "widespread" in use on the web. (Consider the potential of this in the light of things like font embedding and GoogleFonts.)
From what I know, vectors don't lose quality when zoomed in (or on big screens).
Stallone, your question is really more a matter of the platforms / browsers you are targeting. You have to be aware of what kind of zooming you are talking about and what is happening on what you're referring to as "big screens."
For example, you can easily launch Inkscape, create an SVG graphic consisting entirely of vector paths, and include it in a static web page. It will be displayed and rasterized on-the-fly by the local machine, as vector graphics are intended to do. But now, who or what is going to "zoom" it? Are you talking about mere screen "magnification" by the sight impaired in which the whole page is zoomed? Are you talking about pinch zooming on mobile devices in which the whole page is zoomed? Are you talking about projecting on the conference room screen in which nothing is actually zoomed (re-rasterized) at all?
Everything that anybody views on a computer monitor is a raster image, because the monitor itself is a raster imaging device. That's even true of vector paths you draw and view in programs like Illustrator. Vector-based graphics get re-rasterized on the fly--so long as the system in which they are being printed/viewed is capable of supporting that. The question boils down to when the rasterization occurs and what is doing the zooming.
Historically, web browsers don't do that. The "intelligence" (programming) involved in rasterizing vector paths on the fly has to be effectively "embedded" in the graphic or in an add-on program (browser plug in) which performs the re-rasterization locally on the viewer's machine. That's why Flash requires a plug-in and SVG has to be viewed in a browser that understands the XML upon which it's based (which most current browsers nowadays do) and HTML5 Canvas has to viewed in browsers which can run its JavaScript-like programming (which is still developing).
All this is constantly changing as mobile devices and platforms and ebooks proliferate, and all this is why designing for the web always entails some amount of experimentation on the platform(s) for which you are developing.
It's a big subject; not something you can get a crash course on in a forum like this.

  • What dimensions for big-screen presentation?

Almost everything I do is for presentations for either my employer or my church. I've experimented with WMV, MOV, and AVI but I'm still not sure what will look best that large. Since there are no rulers in FCE's Canvas or Viewer and I haven't found a place when creating a project to specify the dimensions like in Flash. The only time I'm "sort of" prompted for dimensions is when exporting from QuickTime Pro and those settings don't seem large enough but perhaps I'm mistaken. Is there a web site I could go to for such info?

FCE is a fixed resolution application, DV or HDV only.
How is the material you're presenting getting onto a screen? Computer playback? Projector? Playing back from a deck? That's the governing factor, that and the format you're working in. Video formats have fixed sizes unless they're being put on a web, where they can be any shape you want.
The higher resolution format you start with the better the end display will look. Shoot in DV and there's a limit to how large you can make the image before it becomes objectionable. Good shooting and good lighting will go a long, long way to making even DV material look good on a big screen.

It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

  • OCR Exact is doing weird cut and paste to original PDF image

Using Acrobat 7, I am scanning old typewritten documents, most on legal sized paper.  When I run “OCR exact” on them to create searchable text (hidden text) behind the original image, the original image (on top of the hidden text) changes.  Specifically, Acrobat takes part of the original PDF image and copies it at the bottom of the original PDF image.  When I have the document displayed in full screen, I can sit there and watch the image change at the bottom when the OCR completes running.  It always changes the bottom of the PDF by taking a small snapshot of part of the PDF from somewhere else in the PDF and repeating it at the bottom.  I have seen it take a chunk from the top of the document and repeat it at the bottom, and I have seen it take a chunk of the document from the middle and repeat it at the bottom.  The “repeated part” will sometimes start at the very end (not covering original text), and sometimes start an inch or two from the end (thus covering some original text).  It only seems to happen on documents that were typewritten.  Scans of documents created after the invention of word processors don’t end up having the problem I am describing.
Anyone know what is happening and how to correct it?  Thank you.

    Hi stpippin,
I am not sure what you are trying to do. Numbers works best with several small tables, each with a purpose. Rather than copying formulas to another part of a table, you can create another table with a new purpose.
Table 1 contains values (typed in, pasted in, or calculated from elsewhere):
    Fruit
    Value
    Apple
    99
    Banana
    98
    Cherry
    97
    Date
    96
    Eugenia
    95
    Fig
    94
    Grape
    93
    Table 2
    Fruit
    Value
    Apple
    99
    Banana
    98
    Cherry
    97
    Date
    96
    Eugenia
    95
    Fig
    94
    Grape
    93
A2 contains this formula (and Fill Down and Right)
    =Table 1::A2
Select cells A2 to B8 and copy. Then paste into Table 3:
    Fruit
    Value
    Apple
    99
    Banana
    98
    Cherry
    97
    Date
    96
    Eugenia
    95
    Fig
    94
    Grape
    93
    Formula in Table 3::A2 becomes
    =Table 1::A2
Now you have another table that duplicates Table 2. What do you want to do with it?
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Problem with manipulating PDF images in Keynote

    Hi,
I am using LaTeXiT to insert equations (in PDF format) into Keynote. Note this is the only vector format that really works. Creating equations and dragging them onto a slide works fine, but then it is difficult to select and manipulate them on the slide.
I have inserted other PDF images and run into the same problems, so it seems that this is a bug with Keynote. I have tried to reinstall Keynote but to no avail.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks!

it is difficult to select and manipulate them on the slide.
What exactly is the difficulty are you haveing?
The only adjustments you can make to a PDF file placed in Keynote is to position and size the image.
If you click on the image to select it, 8 bounding box handles will show, ( small black squares ) you can then click and drag them to resize. Click anywhere on the image to place it anywhere on the screen.

    Drew,
How is the large-screen projector connected, via a set-top DVD player to it, or by a computer connected to it? If it's via a set-top player, is it the same one used for the small-screen TV, or a different one? What is the make and model of the set-top player(s)?
Also, what DVD media was used, and what was the burn speed used to create the DVD? Was this authored in Encore, or with some other authoring application?

  • How to retain focus in Web forms 6i item when displaying pdf image

How to retain focus in Web forms 6i item when displaying pdf image in a multi-record block?
    Hello.
I have a Web Forms 6i program (version Forms 6.0.8.19.2) running in a 3-tier application. The web form program has a multi-record block containing invoices. When navigating to a record, the form should display the PDF invoice image which is stored in an Oracle 8.1.7 database as a BLOB in another window. When user press down-arrow, the next PDF invoice image should be displayed.
I am able to accomplish the functionality above by using web.show_document('URL', target') in the when-new-record-instance. The URL being called is a PL/SQL Web Toolkit stored procedure using wpg_docload.download_file built-in.
The problem is that the focus is lost on the Webform and the focus is shifted to the PDF image window when you navigate to the next record using down-arrow. I want to retain the focus in the form as this is a data-entry form, the operator will use down-arrow to go to the next-record rather than the mouse. I also only want to do this for this Invoice Entry form and NOT to all forms.
Please advise how to resolve this problem. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Armando

    Magesh,
the issue of a SSO protected form showing the logon dialog is a knwon issue for Windows200 and the Oracle9iAS base release. If you applied Forms Patch 1 then this should be solved. Hope that I am right in that you are using Oracle9iAS and not Oracle9iDS. Do you see the Single Sign-On logon screen or the Forms logon dialog directly? Check the forms90.conf file in teh forms90/server directory as this contains the Form sso settings (mod_osso) which by default is commented out and therefore inactive. You need to remove the commenting '#' characters and make sure that each sentence having a '#' in front, after that starts on a new line.
The Forms deployment documentation within the Oracle9iAS docu provides this information too.

  • Displaying to a HD Big screen

So you probably all have seen this kind of question before but here it goes, and thank you for reading.
The next apple I purchase will be a Cube because... As far as I know I can do this but that is why I am asking cause I want to know for sure. Will the Mac Mini beable to hook up to me big screen (Panny 50" DLP)? I have a HDMI hook up in the back and I can get a DVI to HDMI cable to hook up the Mini straight to it. Will the mini be able to handle the resolution of the Panasonic (I don't see why not)?
Any pointers or recommendations would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

    Shawn,
When I purchased my Mini I had sort of the same idea. I got the bluetooth keyboard and mouse and connected it up to a 50" LG Plasma. It worked OK, but 1024 x 768 was the highest resolution I could get to work. It appeared to me when you put a 1024x768 image on a 16:9 screen it stretched it a bit to make it fit, so the image was ever so slightly distorted. Also when I played 16:9 movies on the mini, I would still get the black bars at the top and bottom. I was a little disappointed in the results and moved the Mini back to an 18" LCD on my desk.
Anyway, that was my experience, your mileage may vary
