Projector Connection

Does anyone know how to hook an iPad up to a projector via Wi-Fi. I have found a projector that allows you download the drivers directly from the adaptor without a CD but I do not know if I can do that with an iPad.

First, you cannot download any drivers or any other external software directly onto the iPad. The ONLY software you can load onto it would be apps on iTunes.
Second, to use any projector, you need to purchase the iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter.
Third, the only things on your iPad that you will be able to display on a projector are apps (not the homescreen itself) that are already designed to produce a VGA-out signal. You need to check the app specifications to determine if it has this feature. As an example, the Apple app Keynote allows you to project slideshows. Certain Web browsers (such as Expedition), but not all of them, allow you to project Web pages. Etc. Don't expect to plug in your projector and have it display anything and everything you are doing on the iPad. Only specific apps with VGA-out will project on your projector.

I just bought a new Epson projector, connected it to my Mac with a USB port and can't get any display.  Any suggestions?

USB is not a Video Interface. to use it with this projector, you must have downloaded and be running:
    Macintosh
    USB Display v1.50
    Mac OS X (v10.7 - v10.7.x), Mac OS X (v10.6), Mac OS X (v10.5)
    epson14423.dmg - 2.9MB - posted on 10/24/11
This file contains the Epson USB Display v1.50. This software, along with a USB cable, allows you to display images from your computer to your projector.
    Installation instructions:
Double-clicking this file creates a disk image on your desktop.
    Open the disk image.
Double-click the installer icon to begin the installation.
    Download Now
I think it may be superior to get a VGA or HDMI adapter and use the display features built into your Macintosh.

  • Projector connected with mavericks stuck at 800x600

    Hi everyone,
Like everyone else that saw that Mavericks was free, I went ahead and installed Mavericks here on our church Mac Mini.  We have a 720p projector connected using a vga to mini display port adapter.  On Lion, we could extend the monitor and use it at the 720p resolution and even higher with no issues.
Well, after i upgraded, i noticed a lot of issues.  The monitor resolution is stuck at 800x600.  If I change it to scaled, it'll only do a 4:3 resolution.  Not good!
Seeing as how I have my screen setup for a 16:9 display.  This morning i'm having to use a very small square in my screen until I can get this fixed.
Is anyone else having issues with this?  I can't seem to get the projector to set to a resolution that is 16:9.
Please do not provide me with solutions that require purchasing a peice of software.  A little disappointed with Apple.  Engineers really need to stop assuming what is "best" for my machine.

I figured it out.  If you press ALT with clicking on Scaling, it will give you ALL the available resolutions.  I was able to select 1920x1080, but needed a smaller res.  the 1280x768 is what I chose.  works like it's supposed to.

Hi, My TV is broken and I would like to use my tablet as projector connected via HDMI cable from TV decoder to my tablet. What should I do? How to configure and which apllication I should use?

You will need to choose the correct (Input) on the TV for the MacBook.....say your cable box is set to HDMI !.....and your MacBook is on HDMI 2.....you will need to select HDMI 2 from the TV's menu for the signal from the MacBook to show on the TV screen.......the selection choices are examples as I do not know exactly how you have things connected......

  • I have a projector connected to a directtv box that is connected to an older Bose system in my media room. How can i hook up my apple tv to my projector and still get sound out of the bose system without running another sound cable to the bose system?

The audio cable currently is connected to the directtv box. If i hook my apple tv to the projector that means i would have to run a sound cable across my media room. is there any other way?

External speakers need to be connected via optical unless they work with airplay.

  • HT4437 I'm using an ATV2 and an ipad successfully for with airplay. Now I added a brand new ipod touch to the setup. However, for some reason airplay for music doesn't work if my projector connected via HDMI2DVI connector is turned off.

If I turn on the projector it works fine. Interesting fact is, that this is exactly the same behavior that I have when playing videos from the iPad. Worth to mention is that the ATV2 is connected to the speakers via optical cabIe. Is there a setting that I'm missing? I can't imagine that Airplay for music from the iPod requires a turned on Video device connected to the ATV2. Thanks.

Hy Alley_Cat, that was the last bit on information that I wanted to add to the question. All devices say they are up to date. Which means that iPad and iPod run 5.0.1 and ATV 2 4.4.4(3330).

  • IPad to vga projector connection questions

My kids got me a 3rd gen ipad and an apple tv and I would like to do keynote presentations and display them on an older vga projector.  If it matters it would be in a place without internet.  The projector is ceiling mounted with a wall mounted vga connector that is hard wired to it.  I believe the projector can also function as a server for wireless presentations, but I don't know how to wirelessly connect that to the iPad.  To get it working either way would be great.  Any suggestions or  directions would be very appreciated.  Thanks.

Well I just now looked at the apple reviews of the mini display port to vga adapter to find that many people experience these things not working. Maybe the 3 I have are all dead. I never even thought that all the adapters I have might be defective. All other apple display adapters I have (that are are much older) still work. I have some display adapters that are probably 10 years old that still work great (mini dvi to dvi adapter crica 2004). Anyways I just ordered a new one and will report back after I have a chance to test it out.

  • Help with Video projector connection

I bought a Brookstone HDMI projector to connect to a MacBook Pro and the Belkin adapter.  I get perfect video but no audio.  Am I missing something?

Does the projector and/or your MBP support audio over HDMI? Some of the slightly older MBP's don't and you would need to run a cable from your audio out port to the projectors audio in.

  • Change of boot screen resolution after projector connecting

    Hi Guys,
My boot screen's resolution was changed to 800 x 600 when connected to a projector and the screen resolution was returned to the previous set resolution at 1680 x 1050.
However, the resolution of my dock icon was messed up (this can be configured manuall) BUT my boot screen (with the grey apple before getting to the login page) is now at 800 x 600
Can anyone advise how I can set it back to 1680 x 1050 and how to prevent this from happening the next time I plug my MacBook Pro into the projector again?
    Thousand thanks for your help.
    Cheers!

Fixed: reconnected the external display and disconnected it properly.

I wonder if a DVI to VGA adapter would work on your ADC to DVI connector?
Hazy memory, but I recall seeing comments here that the ADC-DVI-VGA approach doesn't work. Never tried it because I never had an ADC-DVI adapter and now have no ADC port any more.

  • LCD projector connection to ibook G4

can someone please let me know what kind of cable is needed for a Hitachi LCD projector? the "media" personel at the hospital where i work are trying to use a USB to USB connection , which isn't working. There is a male 3 x 5 prong in the back of the projector that the PC's can attatch to, but my computer only has firewall, USB inputs. If anyone has any idea please let me know - thanks

    Hi,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
Your iBook came with a VGA adapter that plugs into the video port next to the headphone jack. Most projectors have VGA input and connecting to it will work. If the projector doesn't have VGA, it won't work with your iBook.

  • IPod classic-projector connection through VGA adapter

Can I connect iPod classic to a projector using VGA adapter?

Do a Hard Reset, while connected to the Clarion, hopefully your iPod is fully charged
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the Red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • Connect to projector, Connect to projector

After receiving an Apple TV for Christmas I want to add it to my existing setup which is as follows:
Sky HD box connected to a HDMI converter to component video
Component video input into Sony VPL HS20 projector
Works great at either 720p or 1080i resolutions output by sky box
Trouble is, when I plug the Apple TV directly into a telly it work perfectly
    But
When I plug it into the HDMI convertor I get nothing on the projector
I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of, every resolution starting at the lowest and working up, and changing the HDMI output format RBG high or low or ypbpr.
All I get is a "frequency is out of range" message on the projector at every combination of resolution/quality!
I'm starting to get annoyed now!
Can anyone tell me why one works perfectly and the other not at all?!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sandcloud,
Do you have a laptop you could plug in to the projector? If so, I recommend using a program called Reflector to wirelessly display your iPads to your computer. With your computer connected to the projector you can project your iPads to the projector via your computer. Many of our teachers and students use Reflector to display their iPads to the projector. No problem switching from one iPad to the next, or even showing multiple iPad images at once.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can someone help with my laptop and projector connection?

I have an old projector which I have easily connected to previous laptops and to bring up the image was simple i.e. click function+F4, but that does nothing on my new Toshiba laptop.
Could someone please tell me how to bring the image up the projected image with my Toshiba laptop please?

It will be interesting to know which notebook model do you have now.
I presume you didn't read users manuals because it is always desctibed how to switch from LCD to external connected device.
On toshiba notebooks it can be done with FN+F5. FN+F4 is for hibernation. Check please small symbols on FN 1-12 keys.

  • Stop screen blanking when projector connected?

    Hey all,
Is there a way to stop screen blanking when a projector is connected? I often leave my MBP connected to a projector, and it gets annoying having to move the mouse every few minutes to keep the projector screen going.
    Thanks!

What you are experiencing is probably your computer trying to start up its Screen Saver or putting the display to sleep. You can disable both of these in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.

  • IOS7 upgrade and failure of projector connection

    Hi,
upgraded iPad 2 to iOS7u and now realize I cannot connect to projectors via the VGA adapter. It seems some other folks have a simliar problem. I use my iPad a lot in the lecture theatre and this lack of functionality is not clever. Any ideas folks, bearing in mind that institutions invariable have a wide range of projector ages from VGA to HDMI?
    Many thanks
    MU

I have the same problem. I'm currently on an iPad 2 w/iOS 7.03. I've tested all cables and adapters on an iPhone, they all pass. I've tried the iPad on several different monitors, they all fail. I've shut off and restarted my device, no change. I'm now trying to figure out how to roll back to iOS 6, or even "factory reset" my device (if that's even possible).
    In short, iPad2 + iOS7 = 30-pin to VGA FAIL !!!
