Projector error requires Xtra (flash movie ...
I have flash asset xtra in my xtras folder next to the projector. Yet, when clicked on the projector, I get this error.
This application requires xtra (flash movie ...) that either did not
How can I fix it?
I am using D11.5. Is the Flash asset xtra corrupted? Do I need some other xtra?
The one I have in my Xtras folder is dated 3/15/2009.
I am not runing this on a browser. This is a stand alone projector (standard). I am running the projector a PC with Windows 7.
The projector however was created on a different PC and seems to wok fine on that machine.
Thanks for your help. - Charan
Hi Charan,
Before publishing the projector, click on Modify / Movie / Xtras ... and check out if "Flash Asset.x32" is included.
If not, just add it and publish the projector again.

Director 10.1.1
I have a .dir which has an imported .swf file in it The .swf
is Flash 8
The .swf plays fine is authoring mode and even when it is
published as a .exe.
The problem is the .dxr file. When protected, I get the
following error message:
"This application requires an Xtra (Flash Movie...) that
either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make
sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s)."
My xtras are up to date (I think) and include the "flash
asset" xtra.
Any ideas?
Thanks...seanThanks Mark.
I acutally didn't do the full update to 10.1.1.
I was still at 10.1 and needed to recreate the launcher and
for whatever reason (nube) that fixed the issue.

Javascript error when adding Flash movie to DWCS3

If I click through the error messages, I finally get the

I don't get the error when I load a Flash movie if I use DW

Do I need to reload DWCS3? Or is there a fix that I can
download. It seems to be a problem with DWCS3.

I teach games development using Flash Professional CS6, and one of my students has photosensitive epilepsy. He is finding that the 'strobing' effect which occurs when he executes Test Movie on a movie with errors in its script is triggering headaches which can be a precursor to a fit. Obviously this is making it very difficult for him to complete his lab and assignment work. Is there any way of preventing a Flash movie from running if it contains a syntax error?
I have created a workaround by adding a bunch of extra frames to the start of the movie which will display a "SYNTAX ERROR" message if the script doesn't run - this gives my student a few seconds margin to quite the movie before the strobing begins. I have a single frame at the start with a goto statement which jumps over those error frames if the code doesn't have any syntax errors.
This seems to be working ok, but it's an ugly solution - does anyone know of a better way to deal with this?
Thanks.1.In Preferences you can check "open test-movie in tabs".
2. Having done that you could write a jsfl-script which switches the focus (immeadiately after you test the movie) to another tab in the same register card, thus, forcing the possible "corrupt" testmovie in the background. If are no compiler errors , the testmovie can be made available by simply switching to the test-movie tab, if there are compiler errors, you can close it without having to look at it.
Another option would be to setup FlashDevelop as compiler trigger of Flash.
You have to change these basic properties in your project:
FlashDevelop will only launch the test movie if it compiles flawless, inside Flash.
FlashDevelop will act as a "bouncer" to Flash. -
On my new Lenovo Yoga 3 PC laptop I am trying to install Kayak and Pandora apps but once these apps are downloaded, whenever I try to open them, an error message pops up saying: ADOBE FLASH REQUIRED. The Kayak (or Pandora) app requires Adobe Flash. Installation is free. "Install" or "Not Now".
I have installed Adobe Flash 10 times and rebooted etc. but I still cannot use those apps because of this error message.
This is driving me crazy.
I have checked to confirm that the newest version of Adobe Flash IS installed and working on my computer.
What can I do?????
Thank you.Typically when software applications are using an embedded browser window that wants Flash, they're looking for the ActiveX version used in Internet Explorer. If you've been installing Flash Player for Firefox, that's not going to help.
Fire up Internet Explorer, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and follow the prompts. This should resolve the issue for you.
If you're already using Internet Explorer on a Windows 8 or higher machine, then Flash Player is already a built-in component of IE. The problems you're running into may be specific to the intersection of those websites and Internet Explorer 11. (IE11 makes a bunch of changes to how the browser is identified, which may ultimately cause the sites to fail to detect Flash.) In that instance, the easiest workaround is probably to just use Google Chrome - http://www.google.com/chrome/ while we wait for the world to adjust to Internet Explorer's new approach. -
With large .fla files I often can't get Flash to output .swf files. Usually I get the message "Error creating Flash movie. There was not enough memory available." Sometimes though Flash looks as if it has finished publishing (although slightly too quickly to have really done it), and then there has not been a .swf file created.
Sometimes it's simply a matter of restarting Flash and trying again a few times until Flash decides to cooperate. But now I have a file that just seems like it will never output. My computer has 3 GB of RAM and 100 GB of virtual memory. The .fla file is 152 MG and the .swf would probably be about 20-25 MB.
If there is a workaround in CS3, that would be great. If not, I would upgrade to CS5, if I knew that it would not have the same problem.
I was told by at least two people at Adobe support that the problem has gone away with CS5, but I downloaded the CS5 trial version, and it will not output a .swf of my project. In this case it doesn't give the error message, but just fails silently.Has this memory limitation been fixed in CS4 or CS5? I have to say, I'm geting really fed up with having to
spend hours coaxing Flash to output .swfs. Is there a reason that it can't use the
3MB of Ram available to it? -

Ask in the Flash forums.

I have two iMacs both with Maverick. When working with Training DVD's requiring Adobe Flash there is no trouble with one iMac but the other will have problems. The DVD will run fine and then there will be a break (5-10 seconds) in the audio but not the video. When the audio comes back on the presentors movement of the curson will be frozen. Have I disabled something on the one computers but not the other to cause this problem?

Editable regions and Flash movie
Hi,
I am trying to insert a flash movie into an editable region
of a child page, but I keep getting the following error: "Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator. The change will be discarded."
I have read previous posts about the same issue, but none of
them answers my question. I tried creating a new template and a
child from it as a test deleting the css links (like some one
suggested to do) to try to identify the troubled css and I kept
getting the same error in the new pages. I hope someone can help to
identify the issue and the solution. The region where I want to
insert the movie is called "FinalMainContent."
BTW, I do not know how to write code... Sorry!
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!

HELP!! White frame where Flash movies should be!!!
Can't figure a single reason why this is doing what it's
doing. Everything works fine before I create the projector.....but
once I launch it and test, all my Flash movies are just white
frames of the same size as the movies are supposed to be. No sound
or anything. Does the same thing on the Mac or PC side. I've tried
checking and unchecking DTS, etc. but I can't figure this one out.
My project is due TODAY....first time I've had this problem
before, ever.....HELP!!!I thought about that (actually made that mistake with the
Buddy API Xtra), but I just now got it to work....seems as though
it doesn't like talking to a shared drive space between my Windows
and Mac partitions, even though it'll play just fine within
Director while I'm working on the project. I copied everything
over, all the directories, etc. to my Windows side, created a test
projector from there, and voila!
Thanks for the suggestion; I used to make that Xtra mistake a
LOT.

Passing multiple session values from cold fusion into a flash movie
Hello all,
I know that to pass multiple variables into a flash movie
you could use the embed tag like this(with the & between each
variable):
<embed
flashvars="variable1=value1&variable2=value2"
></embed>
Now to pass a single session variable from coldfusion in i
did the following; which worked:
<embed
src="ASdb.swf"
FlashVars="UserName=<cfoutput>#session.userName#</cfoutput>"
width="550" height="400" autostart="true">
</embed>
Note that i had to use the cfoutput tags to get the value
stored in the variables. Now; i tried to do the same thing for two
session variables and the second one does not get read in. Here was
my code:
<embed src="ASdb.swf"
FlashVars="UserName=<cfoutput>#session.userName#</cfoutput>&testTypeID=<cfoutput>#session .testTypeID#</cfoutput>"
width="550" height="400" autostart="true">
</embed>
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you
very much in advance.Hold on there was a little error: My final code that did not
work was the following:
<embed src="ASdb.swf"
FlashVars="UserName=<cfoutput>#session.userName#</cfoutput>&testTypeID

How Do I Execute An exe or an msi Install file From a Button in Flash Movie

I have a flash movie that runs as a standalone player on a
Demo CD... I also have an install msi file(same as an exe) that
when the user is done viewing the flash movie they can click on a
menu button in the flash movie that executes the msi or exe located
on the root of the CD which starts the install process.
Question: What is the action script (FOR FLASH 8) that i
apply to the button that will initiate or call the MSI or exe
install file.
Anyhelp would be great... even a link to an example... or
anything... thanks
Thanks in advance...fscommand("exec","myexe.exe");
Should run the program myexe.exe inside a directory called
fscommand
which must be a subdirectory of whereever your projector is
located.
In windows:I know you can run .bat files with fscommand. But
I'm not sure about msi files.
You can often get around the limitations by having a .bat
file that will a) show a cmd window briefly and b) do the thing
that you couldn't do from flash.
If running the msi doesn't work from flash directly you may
want to try using a bat file...
There's some information here.

Hi
I seem to get thisexception fired when launching my flex project from debug optoon.
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable flash.media::VideoCodec is not defined.
I have created a version of flex 4.5.1 with folder 11.0 in player folder. This has the latest flash player global swc renamed as playerglobal.swc. All is well when compiling, but when running i seem to that exception.
Also my compiler settinsg are set to 11.0.1
What is going wrong ??Hi,
SoundCodec class is defined in Player 10. Are you using the
player 10 afcs swc ? If so, you need to change Require Flash Player
Version unser Project->Properties->Flex Compiler in Flex
Builder and put that to 10.0.0 and also make sure that your browser
has player 10 and you Flex SDK also supports player 10.
And if you are using afcs 9 swc , then put 9.0.124 or
something in the Require Flash Player Version and that should fix
the problem
Thanks
