Projector sends message: Computer Out of Range

I have been using an iMac G5 in my classroom for over a year now with a mounted projector. About a month ago, I started having problems projecting the image. When I turn the projector on, I get a quick flash of the Mac desktop, but then it goes to a message from the projector: computer out of range.
I've tried switching to a new adapter, but that made no difference. The projector works with other computers.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

i assume its wireless? did any of the settings on your machine get changed regarding the wireless. can you try moving the machine closer temporarily to see if it just is not getting the signal well r if it is just being stupid. if moving it closer works something must have gotten changed (or maybe, a long shot but maybe, things on he wall got changed that were helping reflect the signal)
if its hard wired i would check to see if the resolution got changed

  • Frequency out of range

I hooked up my MacBook Pro to a high quality Sony Data Projector and the screen showed the message: "Frequency out of range". I tried detect displays, which didn't help. I could not get an image until I clicked on "Mirror Displays" under System Prefs. Then I could see my laptop display on screen and set the resolution and frequency. As soon as I clicked off the "Mirror Displays", the image on screen disappeared again.
I prefer not to use "Mirror Displays", so that people in the audience cannot see my screen. Any ideas on how this can be done and what the problem might be?

Was Keynote configured to "Present on a secondary display", by selecting the checkbox in the Preferences menu? Did you try to play your presentation? Also in the Displays preference did you click Arrange and follow the onscreen instructions? Generally you should see your desktop image (but not your desktop icons) after connecting to the projector. I set my desktop image to the background image I'm using for my presentation. I usually play the first few slides of my presentation to insure everything is working correctly.

  • Attribute out of range error with Dalsa Spyder camera

I have a Dalsa Spyder camera SG-11 which seems to work fine in NI MAX. I've also had this camera working successfully in a LabView vi but now, for some reason, I am getting an error message "Attribute out of range  (-1074360302)".
I've tried using different gain values (since MAX sometimes gives an attribute out of range error relating to gain) but am not having much success.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a work around?

    Hi LightWorker,
I've not seen this probelm specifically with Dalsa Spyder SG-11 cameras but there are several KnowLedge Base Articles on the error for various differnt models of camera. It may be that one of these fixes will apply to your camera as well.

  • G3 10.3.9 & Itune upgrade - monitor say "out of range" - Please Help

Please help. I have G3 with 512Ram. I've been running Panther totally rialiably for a year and last night I decided to upgrade to 10.3.9 & the latest itunes. The 10.3.9 upgrade went fine and the G3 restarted and ran perfectly but after the itunes upgrade the G3 tries to restart but the monitor turns black after the start tones and comes up with the message "out of range" refereing to the frequences. I can't do anything to get past this message. Is there anyway I can get past this message to reset things? I have the Panther discs and I don't mind loosing my data but I don't want to loose my G3. Are there any keys or proceedures to get me back to square one? I've pressed every key on the keyboard & nothing happens. Please help...I love my G3

Stay calm. This is a minor problem. Do not initialize your Hard drive.
The message saying "out of range" comes DIRECTLY from your monitor, not from Mac OS X. But the reason it appears is that Mac OS X has become confused about what frequency your monitor should be running at. This often happens when the System Parameters -- stored in Parameter RAM and backed up with a small battery -- become corrupted.
The corruption can happen "just because" or it can happen when the Backup battery is forced to work (by loss of main power) but is not strong enough to do the job. If you cannot remember when you last changed it, now is probably a good time.
To get back in business, in the short run, you should reset the PRAM:
2238- Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If a power fluctuation or outage precipitated this problem, the next time it happens will likely cause it again, so replace the 1/2 AA size 3.6 Volt non-recharging battery at your earliest convenience. More info here:

  • HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: String index out of range: -7

    All -
I'm new to consuming web services in JDeveloper. I'm using Oracle JDEV 10.1.3.3/OC4J.  I'm using this version since it is compatible with Oracle EBS 12.1.3.  My intent is to pull data from our third party recruitment app (Success Factors) and load that data into Oracle HRIS.  I'm already doing this through a .NET application.  I'm converting it to be a Java Concurrent Program in EBS.  The code listed below is a stub call to verify I'm on the right track. I created a JDeveloper Web Services proxy project.  I'm testing it locally on my windows desktop.  When I'm able to consume the service successfully, then I'll think about moving it to the EBS server.
I'm getting the following error when I invoke the following service:
HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: String index out of range: -7

The other end is throwing back a programming error.
That might be because you are sending incorrect data and the other end fails to validate it.
You might be able to guess based on your C# code.  But, since you are using soap one generic solution is available to you.
    - Get an http proxy interceptor like wireshark.
    - Run it while your C# app runs, collect the http requests from that.
    - Run it while running your java code, collect the http requests from that.
    Compare the two.

  • "Rise of Atlantis" Mac game created "out of range" message through switch

I've got a mac-mini. I've been running the mac game download from apple "Rise of Atlantis" for a while now. I have an older SONY SDM-HS95P DVI/SVGA monitor (capable of 1280 x 1024 resolution) connected to the mac via DVI to SVGA adapter out of the mac mini, and SVGA into the Monitor. No problems when launching or playing the game.
However, I just added an SVGA Distribution Amp to the chain (capable of 1600 x 1280). So now it's DVI to SVGA adapter out of the mac min, SVGA into the SVGA Distribution Amp, and one SVGA output of the DA goes to the SONY computer monitor, and the other SVGA output of the Distribution Amp goes to my SONY HDTV via it's PC/SVGA input. I did this so I could stream videos off the computer to the TV. This all works well. I change my screen resolution from 800 x 600 (when sitting in front of the computer so all text is very big because of bad eyes) to 1260 x 768 when streaming to the HDTV so the picture fills the screen.
However, I just introduced a problem with the game "Rise to Atlantis" that I didn't have before I added the distribution amp. When launching the game now, the screen flashes to black and I get an
"out of range" message. The message stays there, and from the mac mini, I can't even get it back to the normal screen without rebooting the mac mini.
However, if I remote into the Mac Mini via remote desktop connection from my 27" imac quad core, I can see the game and control the computer. But this isn't a viable solution.
I have tried setting the mac mini display resolutions to lower, middle and higher resolution settings before actually launching the program, but nothing helps. I also disconnected the SVGA output of the SVGA distribution amp. going to the HDTV to see if that would help, but it does not.
So it appears that the SVGA Distribution amp. is causing some sort of a hiccup that throws the SONY computer display to black and that "out of range" message.
Can anyone suggest anything that might allow me to keep things hooked up as they are and still be able to play the game? 'Rise of Atlantis" is a mac game, downloadable from apple, ....but it's the type of game that seems to take over the entire screen....so you can't see FINDER or your desktop when playing it...it's definetly throwing the SONY display into some sort of "take over" mode.
    Any input would be appreciated.

No, I did not try swapping the outputs as neither is marked primary or secondary, indicating that they were in any way different. However, I did resolve the issue. I didn't realize that in "Rise Of Atlantis" it was automatically set to display FULL SCREEN and that I could set it to NOT do that. I made that change and now I can see FINDER/DESKTOP behind the game while it still pretty much fills the screen and this has eliminated the problem I posted about. However, thank you very much for your input. I appreciate it.

  • My 2011 mac mini screen is black and has an "out of range" message

My 2011 mac mini is hooked up to a monitor and it has a black screen with an "out of range" message. I'm not sure how to fix it. everything is plugged in. please help!

Reset the PRAM > Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • Out of range message on monitor screen

Have a Mac Mini desktop.  On startup of computer, monitor, everything is normal.   When monitor goes to sleep,  and I wake it up with the mouse, I get an "out of range" message on the screen.  My monitor's resolution specs call for a 1280 x 1024 resolution with 60 Hz.  I have set that as the required resolution, but it still displays the message on a black screen.  I have tried not shutting the monitor off completely and turning it back on, as well as letting it go to sleep after 7 minutes.  Nothing stops the message from displaying.
Could my video graphics be going bad?   Had some power surges 2 weeks ago with the energy company, and wonder if those surges could have affected my Mac somehow?
    Anyone with a suggestion?

  • Connection timed out when sending messages

Hi, I have a Thunderbird connection time-out issue when trying to send messages. Other similar problems in the KnowledgeBase did not help to solve the problem. I get the following message:
"Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (server name) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator." This is a fairly new computer (four months old) and Thunderbird worked fine until now. Details: Win8.1, TB 31, AV Nod Eset (not Security). The only change that took place recently was in the telephone line which was changed from mine to my husband's name. The telephone company added me as a complimentary user. I was able to send a few messages after this change, so it does not appear to be the cause. I have checked that the server details are correct. I also uninstalled (via Control Panel) and reinstalled Thunderbird, although it seemed that it was not properly uninstalled, because all the messages were there when I reinstalled. What could be the problem?

Please check the hosts file for the new IP,
Also cehck the Agnet service login for wheter the user has the privledges to do a FTP access to the server or also connect to the server

  • Attention Out of Range error message

In the middle of booting up, my G3 Mac screen goes black and this message appears: "Attention Out of Range H: 79.8 KHz V: 75.0 Hz". I've noticed the tenths number will sometimes vary, but the result is the same. Once the message appears, I cannot get into my computer. It still makes sounds like it is finishing the boot process, but the screen remains with that message.
The only way to remove it is to reboot from CD and then restart. (The message also appears in the reboot process, but comes out of it once booting is complete). I don't change any settings, just booting from CD will fix it until the next time I shut down the computer. I have an Envision monitor which is set to millions of colors and a resolution of 1024 x 768, 85.00 Hz. My other resolution choices are:
    640 x480, 85 Hz
    800 x 600, 85 Hz
    1280 x 1024, 60 Hz
The computer used to do this only occasionally, usually after one of my kids played an old CD game that would require the computer to change the screen resolution. If the power shut off while the game was active, then I'd get this message. But now it does it every time I boot (with or without the kid's games having been played).
Please help me fix this problem, this is driving me nuts!

    Hi, No guru -
The monitor setting left in PRAM governs the initial display setting used by the monitor until the settings in the Display Preferences file (and/or the Monitors Preferences file) become available during the booting process. The settings in those files are usually transferred to PRAM during the shutdown process, so that they are available at the next startup.
Some things that may pertain or help -
    1) The settings in PRAM may be mangled. This can happen for no known reason (just one of those things), or can be caused by a too weak or dead internal battery (those batteries have an expected life of only about 4 or 5 years under best-case circumstances). Suggestions for this -
        • reset PRAM. This should return the monitor to an initial default setting of 800x600. Once the machine is fully booted, open the Monitors control panel and make sure the setting is the correct one. Then shut down (don't use Restart) and reboot a couple of times.
Article #HT1379 - How to Reset PRAM and NVRAM
        • replace the internal battery if it is more than 4 years old, or if it is your practice to leave the machine unplugged regularly or for an extended period. You should be able to find a replacement at places like RadioShack for about US$17, cheaper on-line.
    2) Either the Display Preferences or Monitors Preferences file (or both of them) may be damaged or corrupt. The solution for this possibility is to throw away the suspect prefs file, then restart. A new one with default settings will be created automatically. Once restarted (it will probably boot using 800x600 as the resolution), open the Monitors control panel and redo your settings. Then shut down (don't use Restart) and reboot.
    3) Make sure that you have the separate Monitors control panel and Sound control panel, and not also a combined Monitors&Sound control panel.
If your G3 is not an iMac (hence has a separate monitor) and the monitor is a CRT type, it may have its own internal PRAM where it retains some settings, even wrong ones. The way to reset that PRAM on many CRT monitors which have separate video and power cables - power everything down, disconnect the video cable from the Mac. Then turn the monitor on, wait 15 to 20 seconds, then turn it off; wait about 10 seconds, then repeat the cycle, 3 or 4 times. Then reconnect the video cable and boot back up.

  • Signal Out of Range Message

I have a CTX 17" Flat Panel Display that used to work with my G3 (OS 10.3.9)but now I get the 'Signal Out of Range' message. What does this mean and why could I use it before but not now?

It sounds like your mac is trying to send a resolution the display can't handle. You might try resetting the PRAM to see if that helps. I think the Mac uses a default setting after a PRAM reset.

  • Projector out of range

    Hi
First I want to tell you that I understand that out of range means, something involved with the resolution. But I changed the resolution of my MacBook to 800x600 just to check if this was the problem and it still didn't work. Is there an issue with video projectors if your display is not 4x3?
Are there any setting I can test the connectivity of the projector to the MacBook, before messing with MacBook setting on a permanent basis.
    Thanks in advance

A better description of your statement "Out of Range" would help. Does it occur as soon as you plug the projector in? What adapter mini-dvi to ? are you using? What is the cable length between the adapter and the projector? What brand of projector?

What settings are you talking about changing on a permanent basis?
