Projector to macbook air

i want to project a powerpoint presentation from my macbook air through a projector to a screen. What do I need? type of connection? software? video output?software? I have two USB ports only on my air.

If it's a VGA projector you will need a VGA adapter.  Plug into the Air-connect to projector and you're all set.

How do i connect to an OHP (Overhead Projector) with MacBook Air? Is it possible? What leads would I need?
    Thanks.

Good question! The simple answer is, I haven't the foggiest idea. I will be going abroad, so don't know what kind of OHP i will have to use. I have a lead that connects with a tv (HDMI - I think). But am not sure about OHPs.

  • Difficulty in connecting external projector to Macbook Air

I have an external projector I'm connecting to my Macbook Air (OSX 10.7.2) via mini display port to VGA adapter.  With projector on and ad adapter plugged into the macbook air, I see the screen flash blue, but can't force the external dispaly to be recognized.  Under system preferences, displays, I am hitting detect displays, and still nothing.  I have gotten the plug-n-play capability to work before using the adapter, but even after system reboot, I can't get it to work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi vvarruunn,
In the display system preference pane, click the 'show displays in the menu bar'. This will put a monitor in your menu bar.. Can you see your external monitor listed here?

  • LCD projector to MacBook Air - I have thunderbolt, how do I connect these two machines?

I purchased an IPEVO Ziggi HD, how do I use this with LCD projector? I have MacBook Air which has thunderbolt and HDMI...

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Media projector and Macbook Air

I want to connect my Macbook Air (2010) to Infocus media projector. What do I need?

I would contact the host of the presentation and see how their setup works. I copied the information below from a 2010 posting. Hopefully the host has a usb interface for the projector (similar to what some mice have as a transmitter from the usb port)

So you want to use the projector as the monitor for a computer, but you want to use wireless to join them?
You won't be able to do that using an Airport network. Computer networks can only pass data that's been specially formatted. They can't pass video streams in a form that a monitor or projector can understand.
To do this you need a video sender - a device that accepts a video feed from a TV, DVD or satellite box, then sends it wirelessly to a receiver which you connect to your TV or projector. In your case, you would need an S-Video output on the computer to connect the sender, then connect the receiver to the S-Video input on your projector.
Problem is, video senders don't work as well as cables. You'll get some degradation of picture quality (noise) and possibly some interference from other wireless devices (dropout).
If you want to watch video that's stored on a networked computer, with decent picture quality, you'll need to connect a computer or a network media player directly to the projector using a HDMI or DVI cable.

  • Wireless Projector and Macbook Air

I have a Macbook Air and I will be giving a presentation next week. I was told that they have a wireless projector for me to use. What exactly do I need to use a wireless projector on my Macbook Air? I have the cord that is used to attach for wired projector, but I have not used wireless before. I am not sure the brand of the projector if that makes a difference.
    Thank you!

How do I connect my MacBook Air 2011 to a projector?

It depends on the input connection for the projector, but since many are rduced resolution, VGA seems to be the prevalent common connection.
It's just a matter of buying the adapter that adapts VGA to the Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt port on your Air. If it is a DVI or HDMI connection input on your projector, the online Apple Store carries that as well.
This adapter and sufficient length VGA cable is all you need for VGA.
    Here's the DVI adapter.
For some reason, I am unable to bring up the Moshi HDMI adapter on Apple's site.

  • When i use my infocus portable projector, the trackpad on my mid 2013 macbook air completely stops working.

i have the new 2013 macbook air and like i stated above, the trackpad on the macbook completely stops working. i cant use it to navigate which forces me to use a wireless mouse to be able to navigate at all. i was wondering why this happens and if there any soulution. the projector is plugged in through usb and im not sure if that might be the problem ?

I wouldn't expect a projector to affect the trackpad like that. Possibly if you go into System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Mouse & Trackpad and uncheck Ignore trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present.

  • I have a MacBook Air that I am trying to connect to a Hitachi CP-x301 LCD projector. I'm using a Mini display port to VGA adapter but the projector will not recognize the input.

I tried to download a firmware update but my MBA said the update was unsupported.  I'm not super tech, so I'm kind of at a loss.  Ultimately, I want to mirror my iPad to the classroom projector so that I can move around while I teach.

  • HT1338 cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector  -does not detect and 2nd monitor. I have a new Mini port to VGA cable made by apple. When I read online I see that many people have the same problem - Is this an Apple defect??????????????????

I cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector - It will not detect a 2nd monitor or display. I am using an Apple made Mini Display port to VGA adapter. As I read online I see that many other peple are having the same problem. Is this an Apple defect!!???? If so it just burst the bubble about how great macs are. I never had a problem with that on a PC. I hope I am wrong. What can you tell me?

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • HT4437 I have a Macbook Air, an iPad3, and Apple TV.  I want to be able to use the iPad3 for training through the Macbook Air which is connected to a projector.  Any ideas?

I would like to be able to show my iPad3 screen through the Macbook Air that is connected to a projector.  I attended an Apple Training presentation and the presenter was using this set up-how do I get it set up correctly?  I also recently purchase Apple TV because the presenter said that she was using this device with the Air and the iPad.

If you are trying to connect the iPad to the Macbook, then try this app: http://www.reflectionapp.com/ The iPad also supports connecting straight to the Apple TV, so you could try it that way too.
          Hope this helps!

  • Macbook air doesn't connect to Sharp Notevision PG-B10S projector

macbook air doesn't connect to Sharp Notevision PG-B10S projector with OS X, same as upgraded to Yosemite

    Hi There,
Whenever I hook up a projector that doesn't work with my MacBook (when it shows just a blank, black screen), the first thing I try is going to System Preferences > Displays and setting the resolution of my desktop to 800x600.
Nine times out of ten, the projector starts right up and works perfectly.

  • New Macbook Air stopped transmitting to overhead projector

    Hello,
Up until last week, I was successfully using 2 different overhead projectors with my MacBook Air (purchased around 2008 or 2009). I've just bought a new MacBook Air, and it has stopped projecting. I use the same connector (VGA?). Seems like it worked at first (showing my desktop, powerpoint, etc.), but it wouldn't show Yotube. Later that same day, at a different projector, it wouldn't project anything at all.
Is this a common problem? What can I do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What type of input does the projector use? A lot use VGA, in which case you'd need this: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/B/mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter
