Projectors Again

Hi. First post and sorry if this is an old chestnut. Running
Flash Pro 8 on Macintosh OS10.4.9. I'm trying to create a
standalone projector following the procedure outlined in the online
tutorial - creating a Flash Video Player Component and linking it
to a flv file then publishing as either .exe for Windows or Mac
Projector. I've been careful to set up a working folder containing
my source flv file, so that my published files (.exe / Mac
Projector / .swf player skin file) all end up in the same place.
Works fine on the source machine, but as soon as I transfer the
folder to another machine (via memory stick) double clicking the
projector only brings up a blank stage without video or playback
controls. I assume this is some sort of file paths issue, but can't
see for the life of me what I'm doing wrong. Help.

I have tried Degaussing, using filters, changing cables, and testing other monitors and systems on these monitors, everthing I can think of to solve the issue. Is it FCPo or is it the monitors?... or is it a signal strength thing. Can monitors and projectors shift color when the signal is read from a DVD or Mini DV Deck? Is there a fequency difference (Ie: 75mgz or 80 mgz) that might be causing the shift in some monitors and not so badly in others. But if this was true, how would some DVD's (like Baby Einstein DVDs that use really bright colors) display red and blue perfect using these same player and monitor, while my projects is shifting color? Doesn't that rule out the signal from the DVD player if other DVD's do not have this issue?

Someone out there must have had this problem before. There's no way a color shift problem like this with Mini DV has gone on this long without someone seeing it.
One last thing about what I have tried... I do understand that with editing in Mini DV instead of uncompressed or HD video I lose a bit of resolution (4:2:2) and I see this compression occuring in some of the areas in the video where these problems persist. But, I did remake the art and rerender this project in an 8bit uncompressed settings and then displayed that up on the screen and I get the same color shift. I keep going in circles trying to find the culprit that is causing the delema.
PLEASE HELP! There are large tours going through our facilities daily and the large screen projector is displaying this problem as well. Let's just hope they don't notice and that their TV's at home or office does not display it on our final DVD's made.

Won't work with Sony VPL-PX20 projector

When starting up while connected to the projector the initial gray screen displays and the projector shows input, but as soon as it switches to the background picture during start-up the projector display goes black and displays "No Input".
I've tried this with two different 15.2" Al PBs and the same thing happens, or doesn't happen as the case may be. (c;
I've test these two Al PBs with our three other projectors which are older Epson and InFocus models and they work fine. I've also tested the Sony VPL-PX20 projector with various other non-DVI Ti PBs and a Dell laptop and the projector again works as it should.
I know if I call Sony looking for support they will say it's an Apple problem and if I call Apple they'll say it's a Sony problem. The thing that makes me suspect it's an Apple problem is that this problem only presents itself on two similar PowerBooks that only really differ in age one is new and the other is 8 months old. The projector works with other PBs, a desktop, a TV tuner and a DVD player with no problems.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be or how I might go about resolving it?

Two suggestions:
Make sure that the camcorder is connected to a power outlet, not running just on battery power;
As alluded to by thesurreyfriends, try a different FireWire cable. If you have a Rocketfish cable, it has been known to cause problems. I have a Belkin 9 pin to 4 pin (FW 800/400) which works perfectly with iMovie '11, using my older Sony DCR-TRV20E.

MBP 15' i5 2010 Model + vga adapter and projector issue

Dear All,
my MBP always got screen crash (green / purple screen) when i use a VGA adapter in miniport to projector,
I have to hard reset. it's strange that, after rebooting, it doesn't crash when I connect to the projector again.
but next time when i connect to project, it crashes again
i tried different VGA adapters, still the same.
any ideas?

Grey screen when connected to external monitor / projector

I have a 13" Macbook Pro (OS 10.6.7, 2.4 GHz Intel, NVIDIA GeForce 320M) that is freezing up when connected to an external monitor or projector. The monitor or projector works fine when initially connected, but after an hour or so of use, both screens will suddenly turn grey or black and the computer is totally unresponsive (the sleep light is not on). I have to do a hard shut down using the power button. This problem only occures when connected to a monitor / projector.
This freeze up happens in various use cases; watching a movie, web surfing, editing docs, or even when i'm away from the computer, it seems entirely random.
I'm connecting to a Dell U2711 external monitor using a HDMI cable. I've tried 3 different HDMI cables / adaptors, so I'm pretty sure it's not the cable that's the problem. The problem also occures when connected to an Epson Powerlite HD 705 projector (again using HDMI)
I've called Applecare and run a Hardware Test (no issues found), I've also re-installed the operating system and ran all updates. The problem still occures.
Idea ideas on what's wrong?

In terminal:
Enable: sudo nvram boot-args="niog=1"
To undo: sudo nvram -d boot-args
This works brilliantly!
Steps I use:
1) After putting in the terminal command, reboot and close the lid immediately
2) Keep the lid closed during boot up and once logged in, open the lid
3) The MacBook Pro's screen is off

Change of boot screen resolution after projector connecting

Hi Guys,
My boot screen's resolution was changed to 800 x 600 when connected to a projector and the screen resolution was returned to the previous set resolution at 1680 x 1050.
However, the resolution of my dock icon was messed up (this can be configured manuall) BUT my boot screen (with the grey apple before getting to the login page) is now at 800 x 600
Can anyone advise how I can set it back to 1680 x 1050 and how to prevent this from happening the next time I plug my MacBook Pro into the projector again?

Projector error requires Xtra (flash movie ...

I have flash asset xtra in my xtras folder next to the projector. Yet, when clicked on the projector, I get this error.

I am using D11.5. Is the Flash asset xtra corrupted? Do I need some other xtra?
The one I have in my Xtras folder is dated 3/15/2009.
I am not runing this on a browser. This is a stand alone projector (standard). I am running the projector a PC with Windows 7.
The projector however was created on a different PC and seems to wok fine on that machine.

Hi Charan,
Before publishing the projector, click on Modify / Movie / Xtras ... and check out if "Flash Asset.x32" is included.
If not, just add it and publish the projector again.

Impossible to set display resolution on video projector - nvidia 6600

Hi,
I have an Infocus LitePro730 projector. Under Tiger, when I connected it to the secondary video port of my G5 (nvidia GeForce 6600), it would get somewhat correctly detected (the Monitor pref pane would give me a vast choice of screen resolutions from which I could pick the max one (1024x768) that my projector can handle.
Since I upgraded to Leopard, this no longer works. When I plug in the projector, the only resolution choice I get is a lame 640x480. I tried pretty much everything (plug on the other port, re-detect monitors, cold boot with the projector plugged in, reset the PRAM, etc), none would do.
Then I tried to plug the projector on my PBook G4 (ATI Radeon Mobility 9700) which is also running Leopard, and there I got what I expected: a huge list of screen resolutions from which I could pick the right one.
I'm using a DVI-VGA converter to plug the projector as it only does VGA (no DVI input). Is this a known bug with nvidia drivers in Leopard? Is there anything I can do to override what Leopard thinks is the max supported resolution on this "display" so that I can properly use my projector again?

I have the same problem with a pair of LG LCD displays. It does not appear to be limited to your projector.

Projector issues using Keynote

I've been using Keynote on my iPad for teaching, and it's been great so far. However, I've noticed that, sometimes when I'm talking and not using the iPad, the projector will lose its connection to the iPad. Once that happens, no matter what I do (restarting projector, restarting iPad, re-attaching cables, restarting Keynote, you name it) doesn't seem to get Keynote to show up on the projector again. (I.e. Keynote will open, but that special play button that lets you project onto the projector will not show up; instead, you get the regular play button that you see when it's not connected to anything.)
The initial connection to the projector is fine. It's only when the projector somehow loses the connection to the iPad/Keynote that the problem happens.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and, if so, have you solved it?

Never had that happen to me with Keynote. Are you sure the VGA connector didn't come loose?
I've had similar issues with other apps, e.g. iCab Mobile. Unlike Keynote, they don't prevent the iPad from going to sleep. And I found myself struggling to re-enable the connection to the projector afterwards on such occassions. Can't remember exactly what I did, but it did involve unplugging the VGA adapter and restarting the app in question (but neither the projector nor the iPad).

My iPad Air 2 is no longer recognizing my audio interface when I connect.

Basically I am using the camera connection kit to connect to my korg kronos keyboard, which has an audio interface. The couple times that I did this before, it worked. Sound from the iPad was routed to my monitor via the Kronos interface. I don't know what happened but I didn't use it for a week and ever since then when I connect the sound only comes through my iPad. I used to be able to use the Kronos As midi device to control my music apps but even that functionality doesn't work anymore.
ive tried doing a hard reset several times and in several combinations with the Kronos...such as powering both on at the same time but no luck.
the kronos works perfectly when I connect it to my laptop, so I'm convinced it's an issue with the iPad. When I plug the iPad to my computer it is recognized...so it can't be the connection port that is faulty.
THe kronos is the only class compliant device I have to test it on and have been unlucky so far.

Try doing a hard reset on the iPad. You can also check if your iPad needs to be updated too.
To update go to Settings - General - Software Update
To do a hard reset, i would suggest you do a back up first, either on iCloud or via iTunes.
First try shutting down the device off and on, if that does not help, then you can go ahead and do the hard reset.
Hard Resetting your device.
On your iPad, press and hold both the SLEEP/WAKE button and the HOME button for about ten (10) seconds. After ten seconds you should see the Apple logo showing up, you can then release your fingers from those buttons. Wait for your iPad to turn up completely, then try connecting your projector again to see if it works. I hope it does. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

How can I edit a table during a presentation?

I'd like to use Keynote for a "game show" style activity at my school. I created a presentation in Keynote that contains one slide with a large table. During the presentation I would like to edit the contents of some of the table cells without going into edit mode and staying in the presentation slide show mode. I would like to click or double-click on a table cell and edit the text in the cell right on the slide during the presentation.

This is not possible in Keynote.
Keynote must be in edit mode, not play mode to add data to a table.
Adobe Flash Professional can do this but is not the easiest to learn how to use.

A work around using Keynote is to blank (black screen) the projector or colour display, enter the new data in edit mode then restart Keynote then unblank the projector again.

IMac mini displayport blank display on boot

I work in a school and we use iMacs as classroom machines for teachers. The iMacs are plugged in to vga projectors and are setup to clone in Windows. This worked fine on all our iMacs with mini dvi ports. We've just bought two lots of new iMacs with mini displayport connectors. The first lot came requiring a firmware update, the second lot were already up to date. The first lot seem to have issues where they forget that the projector is connected. The only way to get them to recognise the projector again is to unplug and replug the adaptor. This is a minor annoyance but tolerable - although the old dvi port iMacs just pick up the projector and adjust the resolution automatically. The second lot which came with the most recent firmware pre-installed seem to get stuck booting Windows when the displayport to vga adaptor is plugged in. It gets to the black screen (before the Windows logo appears) and then stops. Pressing enter seems to get it past this and continue the boot process - as if it needs some kind of user input. This is more of an annoyance because it makes doing updates remotely which require a reboot impossible and expecting staff to remember to boot their computers without the adaptor plugged in seems a bit ridiculous. I've tried updating to the latest NVIDIA drivers but the problem persists. Has anybody experienced this and does anybody have a solution?

So this is weird, playing around with the brightness controls seems to have fixed the problem - And yes I did try that yesterday but for some reason today that did the trick.

Change settings for external displays: no "mirror displays" mode

Hello,
I'm using a 13" MBP with Snow Leopard. I'm using different displays and projectors in different locations. When you plug an external display in, the two displays are first in "mirror displays" mode. First thing I do is to switch this off.
Is there any way of changing the settings, so that an external display doesn't start in the synchronized mode??

only if you plug in this projector again. If you plug in a new projector (which I often do) it allways starts in "mirrored" mode.

External display (via DVI) takes 10 minutes to turn on

Hi!
We have a 15" G4 Powerbook about 16 months old. We often use it with an external (non-Apple) LCD monitor, in dual mode, via DVI. For most of the time we've had the PB, there was no problem at all. However, in the past few months a puzzling problem has developed. When the monitor is plugged into the PB's DVI port, the PB will believe there are two monitors available but it will not send any signal to the external monitor at first. After about 10 minutes, it will suddenly start sending a signal to the external monitor and everything is fine. However, if the PB subsequently is allowed to go into sleep mode, upon resuming it again refuses to send a signal to the external monitor for about 10 minutes.
Any idea what is going on and how this might be fixed? It's really frustrating.

I think I have this problem as well, I keep using the PB with LCD projectors, again they are detected, but I can't get an output.
Not sure I get anything after ten minutes though, I'll leave it today to try it.

I have never had a problem with projecting an itunes movie before this. Someone told me that i-tunes changed something so that movies can no longer be projected. We have a home theatre and have watched movies this way quite regularly, so it would be a drag if Apple will prevent us from doing this in the future.

I don’t know about projection, but I’m unable to watch HD content in iTunes because my Apple 30-inch Cinema Display is not HDCP-compliant (which is part of an HD copy-protection scheme).
The other movies you’ve projected, were they HD as well? If not, it could be the same problem: your projector is not HDCP-compliant.

IPad no longer working with projector and HDMI splitter after iOS 6.0.1 update

I just installed iOS 6.0.1 this morning. I use the iPad in my business tied into a projector via an HDMI splitter.
My projector was working fine, I installed the new iOS, and now I can't get the projector to recognize the iPad output. Just giving me a "no source" message.
Anyone have any ideas?

You can try these suggestions and see if any work for you. The first one is definitely an iOS 6 only suggestion.
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.
Even though you are connected to the Internet, it might help if you reboot your router anyway. Unplug it for about 30 seconds and thenlug it in again.
