Promblem between Desktop Iphoto and Lion

Hi
I installed Lion a few days ago.
I have a problem with my destop. I used to change automatically the desktop picture each 5 minutes picking in an iphoto  album called "vacances" (it means holidays infrench)
Since i installed Lion, i can't finf my "vacances" album to pick pictures for my desktop.
I have the same problem with my iMac and my macbookpro
Does anyone have the answer ?
thanks a lot

thank you William for taking the time to help.
Just going to take a moment to be clear on what is going on with my MacMail.  It seems that any messages that I had in my generic mailbox are all still there, however I had several addtional mailboxes for sorting out mail from different companies, people, etc.  I also had Rules for all the corresponding mailboxes.  These all seem to have disappeared.  Also I seem to be running Version 4.5 (1084).
I can't seem to find the Library folder you mention.  I went "Finder>Go>Home" clicked on home and I got a folder containing the following folders (plus a few others) Applications, Desktop, Documents, Downloads etc...
Am I looking in the right place.  I also did a spotlight search for "Library" and no folders with that name came up.
I am not sure how much of a speed bump that is.
Thank you again for your help

  • Difference between snow leapord and lion

Hi .. I am trying to analyse the wifi driver code for mac os x and I am not getting what is the exact difference between snow leapord and lion in driver side.. I could only find the differnce in framework of ioctl .. could anyone tell me what is the exact difference other than features.. i mean in driver code..
    Thanks in advance...

You can greatly reduce your level of concern, if you use an external drive to make a cloned duplicate of your current internal drive.  You can use Carbon Copy Cloner
    http://www.bombich.com
It seems to no longer be free (it was voluntary "donationware" before), but you can use it for free during a 30-day trial period.  A "clone" is an exact duplicate of a hard drive volume, such as your usual internal startup disk.  You can also use Disk Utility to make the duplicate, but using Carbon Copy Cloner is more straight forward.
Once you have the clone on an external drive volume, you can go to System Preferences Startup Disk pane and set the clone as the startup disk.  Restart from the clone to confirm it is working properly.  Once you are satisfied, start up from your usual internal startup disk and perform the system upgrade.
If there is a problem with the upgraded system, you can start up from the clone (on the external drive volume) like you did before, and "clone the clone" back to the internal drive.  Since the clone is a duplicate of your startup disk immediately before you upgraded, you will be "back to square one."
NOTE:  You should also use Time Machine for ongoing backups.  You can also use your Time Machine backup to restore your system back to a previous state (in this case immediately before the upgrade).  However, you cannot start up from a Time Machine backup, so having a bootable cloned backup feels safer.  But, if you use Time Machine, it's good to know that you have a secondary way to restore the state of the previous system, if needed.

    DierreMax, welcome to the forum.
If you provide a model number for the Pavilion and Envy I will tell you the difference.  Normally, the Envy is a newer model than the Pavilion.  Also, the Pavilion models are less expensive than the Envy models.

  • In limbo between Snow Leopard and Lion.  would love to make everything work in 10.6.8 again.

I had installed Lion, and saw that a number of my applications were no long available (including Quicken, Microsoft Office, some profession specific applications, not sure what else.  You can't even update the older Quicken files to newer versions in Lion).  This happened to coincide with my harddrive crashing.  Off to the Genius bar, luckily I back up with Time Machine.  I had Snow Leopard reinstalled as part of the visit to the Genius bar.  Now I have the problem of other applications no longer working with Snow Leopard.  iPhoto, Desktop/screen saver in System preferences, Mail seems to have lost all old emails and preferences.  I am still looking around to see what else is acting quirky.
So, at this point I am trying to figure out how to get things working in Snow leopard again, or find out if I need to update other applications to be Lion compatible, and if I am stuck going back to Lion, (I kinda prefer Snow Leopard) How do I determine how many and which unsupported applications I would need to update before doing so.

thank you William for taking the time to help.

  • HT4906 iPhoto and Lion

I downloaded pics from my camera, which then deleted the pics. Now I can't find iPhoto.
I see all my pics are in Finder-Go-Recent Folders-Pictures. They appear to all be there, even the old ones.
But I cannot find the iPhote icon, 'nor the program.
    I am using Lion 10.7.3.
I have checked all downloads, and all are up to date.
Also can I get help on the email format on the Lion 10.7.3...I hate it! Liked the old format where only the sender, date and time was shown. The new one looks like reading a book..........
    I am a rookie iMac user...please help.
    Sandra

How did you download the pictures from your camera?  Did you use iPhoto? Did you look in your Pictures folder for the iPhoto Library? Do you have iPhoto in the Dock and if you do what happens when you double click on it?
Download and use  Find Any File to search for a file named "Library6.iPhoto".  It's a file that is in every iPhoto library. FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't and if there's an iPhoto library on your hard drive FAF will find it.
As for Mail there's not much we can do send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/Mail.html. I know of no 3rd party "hack" to change the GUI.

  • Synchronisation between Desktop Manager and Torch9800

    Hi Guys,
When I perform a synch between my BlachBerry Desktop Manager software and my mobile device I lose data in the Microsoft Outlook note fields held on the desktop.
It appears that some of my contact note fields on my Torch device are locked to restrict the amount of data held, so as I increase my notes in Outlook on my desktop and then synchronise at the end of the day, I lose data at the botton of the Outlook notes field.
Fortunately, I always add the latest notes to the top of the notes field, so my most recent notes are saved but much of my history is deleted.
I would appreciate somebody contacting me, if they have experienced a similar problem and found a fix.
Is there a setting in the device which allows me to increase the Outlook field data space?
    Many thanks,
    Brian Williams.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It sounds like you are running up against this limitation:
KB13255 Notes field for the BlackBerry smartphone Address Book is truncated
It is a limitation...there is nothing you can adjust on your BB to increase the size of that field.
    Good luck!

  • IPhoto and Lion

I recently upgraded to Lion and when I tried to upload pictures it says unrecognized file type. It is showing the same format that I uploaded before I upgraded. Is there a setting I need to change?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Problem with iPhoto and Lion OS

Since upgrading to Lion OS, I have noticed that every time I open iPhoto 11, it tells me that it needs to be upgraded.  I have checked for software updates and am told that there are none.  Does anyone know how to resolve this?

What version are you at now, 9.1 or 9.2....?

  • No connection between Desktop software and Blackberry

All of a sudden on Thursday the phone and the desktop software stopped talking.  I've been through all of the suggestions in the 'Troubleshooting the Desktop Software' page and the phone still won't connect.  The desktop manager is simply showing 'Connect your Blackberry Device'.
Running XP Pro SP3, Desktop Software 6.1.0.35.
The phone is a Blackberry 9300 running software version 6.0 Bundle 2475 (v.6.0.0.546, Platform 6.6.0.207).
    Thanks for your suggestions.

So, it's now been a week since this stopped working and three days since I posted here about it.
Is there anywhere else I can go to get this fixed, since apparently Blackberry simply don't give a fig?

  • Any way to share photos, movies between iMovie, iPhoto, and vice versa?

The question above speaks for itself. Any answers?

By sharing a movie to iPhoto, I mean that if you made a movie in iMovie, could you open it and watch it with iPhoto? Yikes! I meant to say Photo Booth! So sorry, not iPhoto, but Photo Booth. Is it possible to make a movie or take a picture in Photo Booth and then watch and save it in iMovie, and edit it from there? Is it also possible to make a movie in iMovie and watch it in iPhoto (this question is less important than the one before)? One last thing; can you take a picture in iMovie?

  • Workflow for Sharing Library between Desktop Laptop and Server?

I am trying to figure out how to best accomplish the following. I believe that what I want is not supported by Aperture (by reading these forums). Until it is, what is the best workflow or workaround to do something like this?
Linux server stores raw files on samba share. Photos are placed on server straight from camera card.
G5 Desktop is main editing computer for Aperture, which imports from linux server via gig connection.
MacBook Pro will also be used to edit photos when I am off (the server) site and imports images from linux server when connected or from camera when off site.
    One user, myself.
Right now I am using the G5 as my main computer, and pretty much not using my macbook to its full potential because I am worried about losing things in the workflow.

Feedback to Apple (under the Aperture menu when in Aperture) asking for one-user, two-computer support.
In the meantime, a Library on each Mac with Referenced Masters. Export Projects as needed from whichever of the two Macs you choose to use for a given set of images. Relocate Masters from the laptop to the server when connected.

  • Screensaver/Desktop Images and Lion

You don't appear to be able to tile images anymore for the desktop or the screensaver.
Is anyone aware of a fix for this, they look horrible streched to fit.
    Thanks

to be able to tile images they need to be small enough where tiling is needed.
that is why it is grey out.

  • Print quality difference between iphoto and aperture...?

when ordering books, is there a print quality difference between using iPhoto and Aperture? or are they sent to the same lab?
it's possible i may have some setting wrong, but when i order a book using iphoto, i never really feel the quality is that great. it's good, i just feel it could be a lot better. the print quality sort of reminds me of newsprint, albeit high quality newsprint. similar sized prints made at home on my basic 3-in-1 printer look better.
    thanks...

Previews are what you view on your display. When you import a photo into Aperture (and I'm pretty sure iPhoto as well), your computer automatically generates a preview for quick viewing. The original images are stored in your library, but it is the preview that you see.
In Aperture, you are able to set the size and quality of these previews. When sharing photos between Aperture and iPhoto, the process is as follows:
Let's say that your images are stored in Aperture, but you also want to be able to view them in iPhoto without taking up too much room on your hard drive. Essentially, if you were to import the originals into iPhoto as well, you would be storing two exact, yet separate copies of the same image on your hard drive. As you are aware, with large images (whether JPEG's, and especially RAW) this would put quite a tax on your storage capacity after not too long.
So, you have your images in one or the other (in this case Aperture), but you want to play around with them in iPhoto. What you can do, is open iPhoto, go to the File menu and then select, Show Aperture Library. This will open a window with all of the contents of your Aperture Library. You can then drag any images you want into iPhoto . The only thing is, you are not dragging the original JPEG's, but rather, the previews of those images. If you have those previews set to a lower quality (again for capacity concerns), you will only have lower quality and lower detailed images in iPhoto. These images might not be ideal, or even suitable for printing high quality prints. The previews that you generate in Aperture though can be adjusted to be extremely high quality with no size limits.
My thinking was that since you mentioned Aperture, it sounded like you had experience with working with it and with ordering a photo book through Aperture. I guess you were saying that you ordered via iPhoto, weren't happy with the quality and were wondering if Aperture created books were better.
Anyway, if this is the case, I cannot answer that for you. I have never ordered a book through Aperture. If the quality of your images is good, you should be able to get a decent product no matter where you order it from. There is not doubt that the materials used and the print shop that does the work makes a difference, but if your images are good, you should still get a decent product through iPhoto. Perhaps iPhoto isn't the way to go though if you have had poor experiences with them.
If you haven't used Aperture yet, I would highly recommend it though aside from the photo book aspect of this thread. It is a stellar product.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can I sync PDF files between my iPhone and iPad?

Can I sync PDF files between my iPhone and iPad?

Yes, and we will have integration with our Mobile Readers as well. We've already submitted to Apple for review, and will be live once they complete their review and approval.
With this, we'll allow you to share files pretty easily between Desktop, Tablet and Phone across all OSes...and when you make changes, we'll automatically bring them to and from your phone/tablet! Pretty cool.
