Prometric ID vs Oracle Testing ID

Dears,
What is difference between Prometric ID and Oracle Testing ID?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. One way of looking at it is such:
a): A Prometric Id is the Id used by Prometric to identify a Candidate
b): An Oracle Testing Id is the Id used by Oracle to Identify a Candidate.
c) Up to September 2009 (transition to Pearson VUE) these were the same thing. (In fact the term +Oracle Testing Id. was not used).
d) Post September 2009 it was deemed that for those whio had already tested with Prometric, their Oracle Testing Id would be their (old) Prometric Id.
e) For Candidates dong their first tests with Pearson VUE they will be allocated a completely new Oracle Testing Id.
f) Overall the Oracle Testing Id. therefore remains the single identifier under which all tests are taken.
Neither of these identifiers should be disclosed online.

  • How much pain does registering two Oracle Testing Id Cause to everyone?

Reading the forum over the last 8 months or so seems apparent to me that if a candidate has two (or more!) Oracle Testing Id's and takes exams under both then problems will result as certifications will not be generated untill all pre-requisite passes are under the same Oracle Testing Id. (For those having taken exams under Prometric their Oracle Testing Id has been set to their old Prometric Id.)
the pain this caused in the old Prometric days is mentioned on the Oracle Certification Blogs Here [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2008/09/one_plus_one_zero_when_it_come.html] (dont follow the procedure there .. its out of date).
The procedure for sorting this still remains a merge, however now through Pearson VUE. The procedure is not directly on Support FAQs [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1A] though would indirectly be covered by (I have not received my success kit what do I do?). The procedure required is however authoratively mentioned at {message:id=3923313}. However as can be seen in the rest of the thread {thread:id=991553} there appears to be occasions when some Pearson Personnel VUE appear to not realise they are responsible for initiating the merge and sometimes the merge man may be on holiday (or maybe off on stress through the number of merge's perhaps?)
Thus the candidate with two Oracle Testing Id's has a possibility (maybe even likelihood) of pain further down the line in getting it sorted. But as far as I am aware it is usually sorted ... though it may take a while. Pain to Candidate.
Oracle and Pearson VUE have pain through this as well. There is a support cost dealing with the Oracle Testing Id Merge. Not just in authenticating and performing the merge but also when the query comes as a problem but the root cause is found to be multiple Oracle Testing Ids. While this does give support teams an opportunity to perform the net effect is increased costs for Oracle/Pearson VUE - which means reduced profits or perhaps more likely increased exam costs for everyone - in other words a pain for everyone.
Basically no one wins on this.
Why does it happen? I'll exclude why people have had multiple Prometric Id's (Oracle Testing Id's) for exams taken under Prometric. What was done under Prometric has been done.
However under Pearson VUE why might this happen?
If I start off at the linke [http://www.pearsonvue.com/Oracle] - Click on My Account - then the Link Create a new web account a form is presented:
The key part of this form is in the Previous Testing History Frame :
    Please provide the following information.
Have you tested with Oracle Certification Program before?
(*) No, this will be my first time testing with Oracle Certification Program.
(*) Yes, I have tested with Oracle Certification Program before.
Enter your Oracle Testing ID, if available:If people answer NO to this question and subsequently then need/request an Oracle Testing Id Merge in my opinion they should be charged for this. This is a blatant mistruth. I suspect some people may rush to get regsitered and take the exam and or care about the registration details; or are happy for it to be sorted afterwards rather than getting the Oracle Testing Id. Sorted now.
    HOWEVER:
    - There needs to be a further email just in case they has the wrong button selected by mistake, so after registering the fact there has been no oracle testing needs to be confirmed. I believe, because of form design, there may be a signifcant chance of this happening.
    - There also needs to be indications that if two Pearson VUE Oracle Accounts have been created then subsequently different exams have been passed on each then merging will incur a cost. This is just slopiness by the registrant.
If the people answer yes; but make a mistake in the Oracle Testing Id, they hopefully that would be picked up.
IF people answer yes, but leave the Oracle Testing Id blank, hopefully Pearson is on top of getting it sorted and not let the issue propogate. The effects of leaving this blank as unclear to me, and I hope good procedures are in place for handling it.
There is also IMHO a big issue here that it is not obvious from this page that canididates should enter their old Prometic Testing Id here.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In summary I believe people having mulitple Oracle Testing Id's hurts us all, and to prevent this I would suggest a charge for merge where a candidate have incorrectly siad they have not done Oracle Testing before and where they have a had clear chance to correct this in the event the relevant form radio button has flipped without them noticing.
But I also believe Pearson VUE could probably do a couple of minor changes to procedures, pages and boilerplates to reduce the chances of problems occuring. I think some problems could be stopped before they start.
    Notes:
    (1) Any pages referenced are by myself from UK at time of post. Sometimes from other countries they can be different

I'd just like to add to this that one poster {message:id=4029960} appears not to have given a Oracle Testing ID when registering with Pearson VUE and that Pearson VUE appears to have located it for him. I assume he indicated he had tested previously and presumably his profile details matched those held by Oracle from Prometric. This appears to be a single (unverified) instance of this working correctly; and the candidate not ending up with multiple Oracle Testing Ids'.

  • Difference between Oracle Testing Center and Prometric?

what is the Difference between Oracle Testing Center and Prometric?

Notes for an Oracle Testing Center are here:
The cancellation policies are possibly harder than a Standard Testing Center Vendor.
I would suggest that Oracle Testing Centers possilbly offer exams more on an event or batch basis; (Oracle Openworld is an example; though thats not what one would think of as an Oracle Test Center).
In general I suspect most people will find it just as easy to take the exam through a prometric(or new testing vendor) center. and there will often typically be more slots available. And the testing center will be typically be examing for other testing suppliers, perhaps mosting microsoft and cisco, but there's a mryiad of others out there as well. So the'll probably be well set up for it.
Here in the UK (south) we have a fairly (very) dense population. I've used 4 centers myself:
One 5 miles from me, a college, thats dual Pearson VUE/Prometric; though there only offering Pearson VUE at present until they moved to a bigger suite, with 4 stations. Nice and friendly. 5 days week.
One 25 miles from me, a training center, that offer dual Pearson VUE/Prometric; 4/8 stations; very friendly, cup of coffe offered; I usually go by Puff Puff to this one.
One 10 miles from me, maybe a 12 workstation suite, they offer usually prometric (but not oracle) on one a week. Felt Conveyor like compared to other two above; but very friendly and efficient.
One 35 miles from me, Prometric only including oracle only, maybe a 12 workstation suite, CRT's, and not necessarily of the best quality. This one really felt conveyor like to me, though staff were friendly. This is effectively a drive for me. Also whereas the others I've usd sit one down to sign the forms in a room this one was done at building reception.
The city center ones can sometimes be a little noisy and earplugs are recommended, though the one city center one I've used has provided them others don't have to.
In general from once I used a particular center I feel more comfortable; I'll know exactly where it is; where I have have a quick cup of coffee (with sugar) beforehand going over notes. This all helps me to be a little less anxious before the exam. When I get that prepartion wrong, and I certainly did once, if probably cost me maybe 2/3/4 %.
Getting to know your local test center and routine is one reason why I encourage people to take 1z0-007 and 1z0-051 proctored so they know the procedure and get to know a local Promteric etc Test Center before taking a more advanced and expensive exam.
    Rgds -bigdelboy.
PS: I expect comments from some people who live 100 (+) miles from a test center and have no alternative choice. And those in some places will probably say they feel they are treated like cattle by the test center.

    Thanks,
Arun G NathIn my opinion you will have trouble if you have 2 different Oracle Testing Id ( Your old Prometric one will be your first one, and your new Oracle Testin Id will be your second). If you have 2 your simply wont get certified.
You may need to do a merge ... see:: http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge/

  • Oracle Test Manager - Import of Manual Tests - Fails with ORA-12520:

    Hi,
This issue occurs when we are trying to import manual tests into the Oracle Test Manager.
The import fails when we try to import more than 300 records. The error message in the log
    is as shown below:
    Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server
    9:50:30:020 - *** DB Exception *** State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]

    State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]
No one can logon to the application after this.
According to the DBA the application is using up all the processes in the Database and hence it fails.
When we restart the application service, the number of processes in the database goes down
and the application goes back to normal state.
We keep running into this issue when we try to import >=300 manual tests. (This is not an issue
    when runs are imported.)
Anybody else facing this issue? Any ideas as to how this can be resolved?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I had some problems with. So, consider the following:
    Simple XLS file :
    testname     owner     testdescription               Expected Result
test1          wayne     Login into User Homepage     User can view login prompt
View Accout Details          User can see account details
Create simple report          User has access to reports section
Save as pdf               .pdf generate button is available
send email               email button is active
log off                    User can View log off page
So we have four fields, teatname, owner, testdescription and Expected Result.
When we import a test (select Test tab, then project->import data, and select .xls file)
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests
    Map      testname -> TestCase ID
         owner -> Owner
         testdescription -> Test Step Action
Expected Result -> Test step expected result
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests. You should then see one test with all the steps.
    Regards

  • Difference between Oracle Testing ID and enrollment number

    hi all.
I intend to submit my hand-on course form buy i am confused about what to use in the place for 'Enrollment number'.
Please i need clarification. Is the enrolloment number same as the Oracle Testing ID or not.
    I am pursuin OCP 11g.
    Thanks in anticipation.

If you completed your course through Oracle University or thru an Oracle approved training partner, you will have an enrollment number. You can find your enrollment number in the confirmation email you received from Oracle University. If you completed your training through a WDP, you will not have an enrollment number and should leave this field blank.

  • Authentication to agent workstation failed when trying to run a test in Oracle Test Manager

I have the complete version of OATS installed on my local machine. I have the OracleATSHelper, OracleATSServer and OracleATSAgent services running.
In OTM when I go to run an openscript test I select the system, type the version number and hit run and get a "Authentication to agent workstation failed" error in the summary field.
It worked before but I cant figure out why it isnt working anymore.
    Can anyone help?

    ATS Version: 12.3.0.1.0 build 376
I am getting the same error when trying to execute a script from OTM - "Authentication to agent workstation failed".
I have the OTM server on a remote (server) machine and the Oracle Agent is running on my laptop / workstation. I've tried all I have seen on this thread, but no progress. The manager is now in manual mode and the console only provides the following output:
    D:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin>d:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.exe -c  AgentManagerService.conf
wrapper  | --> Wrapper Started as Console
    wrapper  | Launching a JVM...
    jvm 1    | Wrapper (Version 3.0.3)
    jvm 1    |
One different thing, maybe, I see is that the agentmanager_auth.log is empty always.
Also, on the server, I've added this SYSTEM successfully, i.e.the Testing of the SYSTEM added in OTM always gives the success message "The system specified can be successfully accessed by the Oracle Test Manager server."  . In fact it does this even when I provide an incorrect password!

    Hi,
You can validate OID installation through 'opmnctl' and/or 'ldapbind'. You can access 'Oracle Directory Services Manager' through a browser using the url -

  • Oracle Test Manager - Repository query

    Hi,
I wanted some clarification and some help.
I presume the default repository in OTM is pointing to the the C Drive (i.e. where all my OFT file structure is stored). When I check the Path it says ./OFT/ but when I try to create a new reporsitory, it allows me to paste the path I want but the file Path shows as C:\OracleATS\OFT\OATS92_EBS_115102_TSK. Is this a wrong structure? Also it does not allow the Test scrip to run, giving me this error message
"oracle.oats.jagent.exception.FataljavaAgentException: unable to create stand alone databank provider"
    Regards,
    Manisha

    Hi JB,
further to my previous reply, what I have noticed it that whatever changes I do to my scripts in the client PC are not reflected in the repository which is stored in Server.
    The scenario is like this:
I have the Oracle Test Manager stored in my Server from where I can access my repository. I have Network shared the Drive (C Drive) where all my OFT filing structure is with my Client PC.
On my Client PC I have Open script installed and It's here I create all my scripts. So any changed I make here are saved on the shared network drive.
On my Server when I look at those scripts they are showing exactly as i can see on my client PC, so my scripts are fine. But when I try to pick one of my Scripts from the default repository they are not the same. Hence I am wondering if my Default repository is different to the File Structure on the C drive on my Server. Is it possible to share/amend the default repository.
I hope you can resolve this issue.

    Manisha

  • Oracle test manager loading problem

    Hi,
While I am entering correct details in Oracle test manager it shows the following error
"Cannot connect to Database: Unable to establish database connection;[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified ".
Help me to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
I'm also experiencing exactly the same issue. Took me a long time to search for relevent threads, but I've eventually solved this issue for myself.
When you create a new OTM database (either through initial installation or through "Oracle Application Testing Database Configuration" tool), it automatically creates a System DSN, and automatically appends an entry in your "tnsnames.ora" file in your Oracle path.
    What my problem was,
-- I had previously configured sqlnet.ora file to set NAME.DEFAULT_DOMAIN
-- The Net Service Name auto-appended, does not have my domain suffix.
Hence the issue that the TNS name cannot be resolved.
As soon as I appended my domain suffix to the Net Service Name (e.g. "OTM_CONNECTION_DATA_1") in TNSNAMES.ORA file, my problem was solved.
    Good Luck.

    Hi ,
You can create a single dynamic distribution group with the condition to have only the mailboxes in exchange as its members . Then when a person send an email to that  Dynamic distribution group it will get distributed to all the mailboxes
    in exchange.
Note : Most important feature in the dynamic group is that the membership of that group will be maintained automatically and also along with that we can have group membership by defining the recipient types/OU /rules.
I agree with ED and also based on my knowledge you cannot achieve your scenario without Distribution groups or dynamic distribution groups.

  • Oracle Test Framework and the UPK

Does anyone know how the "Oracle Test Framework" works with or how it replaces the UPK for testing?
PTF works by replicating the actions of a single user executing functional tests against a PeopleSoft browser-based application. Users can record manual test procedures and save them within the framework.
The PeopleSoft Test Framework (PTF) was introduced in PeopleTools 8.51 and automates various tasks within PeopleSoft applications, primarily functional testing. Automating functional testing enables testers to execute more tests with greater accuracy during a shorter time.
Test assets (tests and test cases) are stored in a database as Application Designer objects. As a result, test assets are PeopleTools-managed objects, which can be managed along with other PeopleTools-managed objects through PeopleSoft Lifecycle Management.
